All Vets are expensive especially when you have more animals than you can count fingers on your hands things can add up. Ive had some really bad situations happen ( like a Feline Leukemia Outbreak) and Dr Twitchell went out of his way to help me from a traditional billing nightmare bringing one in at a time to allow me to get them tested all at once, which saved my other feline's lives. I really appreciated that so they have my loyalty as a patron for life. He is a great vet, and I believe his wife is a vet there too. Ive been going here since they were literally a back door of a barn. They are fair and they value your input and will take that into consideration when developing a care plan for your pet ( I administer my own vaccinations/treatments/maintenance) and they work with me instead of against me. The new building looks great and the receptionists and assistants are friendly every time i go in to pick up high calorie food for one of my cats that requires special care. I can appreciate a place that can "tell it how it is" and they don't have third parties in their pockets pushing promotions to make money. I have had pets most of my life (I am in my 60s so that is a very long time). In that time there have been some bad veterinary clinics and some that were good. The feeling you often got from them was you were the paycheck and they wanted a raise. Not so at McKean Vet. Hosp. From the very first visit the loving care that the staff gave to our elderly dogs (12 and 15 year old) was comforting. Eventually our older dog had to be euthanized and the dignity and respect given to us as we said our final goodbyes was far above and beyond anything I could have expected. Our other dog also has developed some medical issues (doxie mixes are known for their back problems). The doctor took the time to answer all our questions after examining our dog. He was knowledgeable, supportive, and very caring. The MVH staff/doctor also made a follow up call to see how our dog was doing and asked if there were any other questions that we might have. MVH with 3 great doctors and staff have offered myself and my animals loving consideration and support for whatever situation I show up for. From euthanizing a beloved pet, annual well-animal check-ups, a needed procedure or a stop-by wight check, everyone at MVH is pleasant, helpful and very knowledgeable about the needs and concerns of my pets. I had previously been with a different pet clinic and I felt like a number. Here at MVH, I feel like a valued member of the family. It's definately worth the drive from Erie. Read Less
