I just want to say on 09/19/18, I took my 14year old furbaby "Angel" for a checkupEven though the diagnosis wasn't what I wanted to hear.  I had the pleasure to meet Dr Peters, Karen and Diane.These 3 Angels were very understanding, compassionate and helpful.I had a very difficult decision to make about my (Angel).  She gave me 14wonderful years and will forever be in my heart .I even received a Sympathy card from Dr Peters in the mail.This is a wonderful facility And if and when I'm ready for another furbaby I will keep them in mind. This vet is amazing. For years my dog had an unexplained cough. My other vet keptdiagnosing him with kennel cough and prescribing antibiotics (even though I kept telling them that didn't make sense because he wasn't around other dogs). In less than five minutes the vet at Media diagnosed him with a partially collapsed trachea (common in poodles). They are kind and caring, super professional and extremely knowledgeable. Last week our dog of 12 years died en route to this office. We were left alone with the dog to say good bye when a woman suddenly barged in to present is with the bill for cremation. As we were paying the cremation bill, there were at least five employees behind the counter. Only one offered her condolences. The others were joking and chatting. We have been taking our animals to the Media vet for 30 years and have always paid our bills at the time of treatment. I felt that there was a total lack of respect and compassion for our loss. My wife and I recently had a house emergency with frozen pipes, and we had to quickly figure out where to have all our pets stay.  Our two cats, Fiona and Diesel, had never been boarded before, but the staff at Media Vet were phenomenal in getting them in quickly, checking all their vaccinations, and making sure they were healthy and cared for while we were dealing with house issues!!We can't thank them enough for taking care of our little buddies, and we would feel safe and happy leaving them there in the future! We moved back to Media mid-August with our two beloved cats. In September we discovered a lump on Lucy's leg and took her in to see Dr. Peters. The news was cancer and we were, and still are, absolutely devastated. The only good part of this is that we got to know Dr. Peters. She was sympathetic, honest, and so helpful that it made things as bearable as possible. We miss our baby every day but are grateful to have this amazing vet hospital close by. We moved our ill tempered little pussy pie from Chicago to media then had to board him for 18 long days while we got married and stayed with relatives between moves. He refused to eat or poop for 48 hours as he's a shaky high strung little bugger. The staff at media vet gave him lots of toys and attention, unlike other boarders who would tag on a daily charge just to hold your cat for a few minutes. Mixtape was made to feel like family. Even as he hissed at and bit the staff, they would flatter him and say he was a feisty handsome good boy. They let him come out of his crate while we played with him for 20 minutes in a little room so we could privately visit and help him get comfortable. Best of all, there were absolutely no hidden fees like I had anticipated. I figured the extra love came at a fee, but that's just the quality standard they provide every pet at media vet. Just a mention, about 6 weeks ago I went out of my way and stopped in (with my Pup) to ask a few questions about my 7.5 year young 14 pound Italian Greyhound that is due for a Dental Cleaning. This Breed (Sight Hounds) have very special Anesthesia concerns and requirements. While the woman behind the desk was pleasant she really didn't know too much (I have no problems with that) and said a specific Dr would call me the next day to talk about my concerns...that call never came. We've taken our dog here for a few years. Things are pretty cut and dry and the Vets & Techs are pretty clear and honest (detected a heart murmur in our dog, she's older - explained that this happens in older dogs, we could take her for an X-ray, but it probably wouldn't be worth the money unless we REALLY wanted it - that was a year ago, our dog is still happy and healthy and we didn't waste money on an X-ray). Brought my newly adopted kitten here a little while back and now he has a phobia of vets. He was perfectly calm during the visit until they picked him up by the scruff and he started screaming like I've never heard an animal scream. The vet tried telling us he was not being hurt, but I don't believe this at all because a different vet we went to did the same thing (after cornering him because he was scared, swatting, and hissing) except he was completely silent and calm. Now that he's grown up a little he gets extremely anxious and aggressive at the vets and we have no other reason to explain it other than this initial visit to Media Vet. They also tried telling us he needed medication for worms, but the other vet we went to shortly after did a feces sample and found nothing. Read Less

Our little Augie was cared for with kindness, consideration and empathy. His dental procedure had some "bumps" in the road as he was quite sick from the medication administered during the procedure for the 24 hours following. The staff had me bring him right back in the following day and quickly Dr. Wilson saw Augie and treated his nausea and vomiting. i started to come here about 3.5 years ago after Dr. Fran Wilson joined the practice. Although it is about a 45 minute ride from where I live I would not go anywhere else. Everyone is extremely kind, knowledgeable and empathetic. The vet techs are always very nice and helpful. When I call with concerns I always receive a call back from Dr. Wilson; no matter how trifle the problem may be. The office staff are very attentive to needs and the place is always clean. Dr. Wilson is  caring and extremely patient with the animals and their people family. Everyone at Media really love animals. Although I mainly deal with Dr. Wilson; I have met the other vets and they are wonderful. The hospital is extremely devoted to animals and their community. Normally I use the SPCA, but today felt like an emergency and they got Shadow and I seen within the hour. He really does not like going to the vet and had an elevated heart rate for like 3 hours, completely hyperventilating and shaking. When the vet walked in he trusted her on what seemed to be an instinctual level. They even got him to wag his tail while he was on the table getting blood drawn and physical examination. I have three dogs and have been using another vet in the area for many years.  I recently moved all three of them to Media Veterinary Hospital and my only problem is that I can't believe I didn't make the move sooner.  Without exception, every person I have encountered there has been extremely professional, knowledgeable and kind.  I would recommend this vet to anyone.  My 8 year old Chihuahua had a dental procedure to remove 10 teeth.  The doctor kept me informed before, during and after the procedure and I felt completely comfortable leaving him in his capable hands.  The price was very reasonable.  I was never pressured into "extras", which I have encountered at other vets.  Excellent vet - highly recommended!!!! I have waited to post this because I wanted to give the vet an opportunity to fix its mistakes. But they have not, so here is an honest review of this place. First, you call and are immediately placed on hold for way longer than it would even take to answer your question. The people who answer the phone could CARE LESS about you, your animal, and your time. They do the absolute minimum to answer your questions and get you off the phone as quickly as possible so they can go back to playing on their personal cell phones or whatever it is they do behind the desk. Second, I was supposed to receive an estimate from the vet who is supposedly the owner of this place but have not received it. Instead, I have had to call repeatedly to get the quote and was finally emailed the quote, but it was a quote by a different vet from nearly 1 year ago. And that vet, Dr. Shelley, was supposed to return my multiple phone calls inquiring about this estimate (again, assured by the people at the front desk that they would give him my messages!) but HE NEVER CALLED BACK. The waiting room and examining rooms are filthy. They rush you in and out like they have more important things to do. You can never get a call back from anyone. I needed the vet to send my dog's medical records to a potential boarding facility (there is NO WAY I would board my dog at this vet!) and it took me 2 phone calls and having to personally look up the boarding facility's phone number on google (BOTH times), because, I guess, they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs and check their voicemail or faxes or however this request was communicated to them to send the records to boarding facility. Finally, completely frustrated, I faxed and emailed these complaints to the vet and STILL have no received a call back to discuss these issues or try to work them out! In short, I will be looking for another vet who is competent and actually has an iota of customer service. Read Less

I used Media Veterinary years ago for my two cats, and was impressed with both Dr Wyncoop, and then Dr Bender. More recently, had an elderly cat I was caring for, and Dr Norton was practical, clear and supportive about what could be done. And Dr Wyncoop answered some questions about a dying gerbil, which helped me decide what to do for an easier ending. My experience with all three doctors has been only good, and expect to take any new pets to Media Veterinary with confidence in the doctors' skill and kindness. Read Less

We have always felt that we and our pets were understood and cared for. We've had puppy shots, and, of course, with older dogs we've had to put them down eventually. Have been taking all of my dogs to the Media Veterinary Hospital since the 1980's and have found Dr. Menghetti to be a very caring competent person not only with my dogs but with me as well. He makes recommendations that are reasonable and offers suggestions when things are very scarey. The staff is very friendly and shows compassion and caring as well. This was my second visit to this vet.  First was with a very sick dog, and I was pleased, even got a follow up call from Dr. King.  This visit was with my two older dogs for vaccinations and one of the dogs has had a cough. Well first I had to wait 45 minutes while they sorted the old records that had been faxed over a month ago (why not do this before I got there?). Then was asked if I wanted to get a chest x-ray for dog with the cough for $200. I said of course, however hospitals get paid from Blue Cross about half this.  So off went Maggie, then second dog needs a teeth cleaning but needs blood workup for $75. I said ok only to hear the vet tell the tech do a CBC, again Quest gets paid about $40 for a human CBC.  Got the results of the chest x-ray and vet suggested maybe having a radiologist look at it. I said for $200 that is not included? No, it was not.  Lastly I asked about the teeth cleaning and she said might need some teeth pulled and she would give me an estimate. Well how shocked was I when the estimate was $650-$775.  I have had Stoney Creek clean and pull 4 teeth of another dog for $400, so I told Dr. King, who I think is very good I would not be having them clean the teeth. She said she would pull the lab work, which I appreciate.  Lastly just went on their website to see what Frontline and  Heartgard, and other drug prices are. Again Media Vet is 25% to 50% higher than other vets.Had used Old Marple before VCA bought them and changed to Stoney Creek. Changed from Old Marple after they got bought by VCA  because the prices went up 50%, changed from Stoney Creek when they wanted to charge us an extra $45 to squeeze us in on a weekday afternoon for a sick visit.   Will probably go back to Stoney Creek as Media Veterinary Hospital now charges more than the corporate controlled Old Marple VCA.  Also in both visits never saw anyone clean the table that you put your dog on. For $59 for an office visit (about what an internist gets paid) shouldn't you get a clean table?So if you want to be overcharged by a vet that is convenient to you this is the place. Read Less

Media vet is the best. I have been going there for about 10 years. I have a yorkie who has many health issues. The staff is wonderful,nothing is too much trouble. Great place for dogs and cats alike.  Three weeks ago I took our precious Tabby Cat, Friskie, to resolve a gastrointestinal problem.  Today I went with my "son" Tango Mango, my awesome Black Lab, to have him looked at for a hacking cough.  Getting an appointment when it's of the essence was no problem.  I brought him over and he was seen ten minutes before his appointment time.  Outstanding bedside manner and explanation of the possible problem and solutions, which included putting him on antibiotics.  The entire staff is superbly professional and friendly.  I don't care about me, but when they recognize my dog by name, I feel good.  I'm coming back... Dr. Wyncoop is the vet to see at Media, hands-down. She's smart and sweet.  When we adopted our dog last year - he was already a year and a half - we took him straight to Dr. Marcie Wyncoop. She got us on track immediately, and our dog was healthy in no time. He's a very nervous dog, as you can imagine coming from a shelter, and she is terrific with him. I can't put a price on that. I've also gone to Old Marple, where they are very capable. It's really just a matter of personal preference. The downside to Media Vet is that they don't handle emergencies and Old Marple does. The other downside to Media - and this is only an issue for us because our dog is a big nervous guy - is that their waiting room is small and can get very crowded as it's a popular place. I love this place! It's very clean, friendly, and professional, and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a vet in the Main Line area. I was referred here by a friend who grew up in the area after I had horrible experiences with Bryn Mawr Veterinary (see review for details). No such problems here. Even if you call with a question, the staffers will hunt down a vet to find out the answer for you. If the vet said she'd call you back, you get a call from the vet herself (who is patient and completely willing to answer all your questions until you're satisfied). If you need to pick up food or medication and are running late, they'll try their best to accommodate you, even staying late (obviously, don't push this one). They even mailed refills of medications without an extra shipping charge. Dr. Maria Peters is the vet that my dog and I saw--she clearly loves animals and did a great job of being caring toward both pet and owner. She completely solved my dog's diarrhea problem in a cost-conscious way, fully explaining the different options (treating the symptoms vs. conducting testing to pinpoint the cause) and the pros and cons of both while letting me decide based on her recommendations. Additionally, she removed the eyelid tumors my dog had (in both eyes; the biopsy revealed  that they were thankfully benign) and performed a teeth-cleaning, and did an incredible job with everything. One of the tumors was on the lower eyelid (the others were on the inner top eyelid); there's no scarring and my dog's vision wasn't affected at all.When I returned to pick up my dog, they sent me home with papers thoroughly explaining what happened during the operation and how to best care for my dog during the recovery period. I had also requested copies of the notes from each of my appointments (since I knew I was moving soon and wanted them for my records), which the office made sure to mail me promptly after each visit.This clinic has a very hometown feel as well--all the other clients seemed to be locals and were on a first name basis with the staff. There's a boarding service here, and everyone who used it seemed to be regulars and happy with the service (I saw quite a few drop-offs/pick-ups while i was there). Tip: The clinic has Saturday hours, which was really helpful when I moved to NYC and had to take my dog back for a post-surgery appointment. Bonus tip: They used to give you one free application of Frontline if you bought two boxes (six months' worth), but I'm not sure if that promotion is still in effect. Read Less
