Worst vet I have ever visited. I walked in with no appointment and sat there for more than 4 hours. My dog had some stomach issues and was throwing up a couple times a day. I needed to get him checked out right away. The lady there said it would take 1 to 2 hours. I watched people come in and go. 3 hours passed and they said it woukd be another 10 minutes. Than a lady with no appointment came in with her cat and was immediatly checked in. The cat had ear infections. I stayed calm and waited another 30 minutes and still nothing. By than my dog puked twice, which I cleaned up, and sat there bored to death. More and more people passed through and I still did not get in to see the vet. Had a terrible experience on 8/24/17 Our dog injured herself and we called to be seen. Unfortunately they were booked up and we would have to wait which wasn't an issue. We get there and are waiting. At one point one of the techs told us we were next as soon as she finished up with current patient. Well that dog left and instead of taking us like we were told she took another dog in. To make matters worse a new puppy showed up(totally new not on list) and they immediately put them in a room. What kind of so called pet hospital allows an injured dog to sit and wait, especially since we hold their insurance I feel they were holding out on us to get the after hours fee!! Read Less

These people charge you just to LOOK at your animal once a year when all vaccines are already updated and not due before they will release vac history to any online pharmacy. Ridiculous. I had trouble locating my vac history for my dog after moving. I couldn't get any non-topical flea/tick meds. I'm allergic to anything topical, I need to buy oral flea/tick. I couldn't afford to pay these Yahoo!'s just to look at my dog and for the oral flea/tick prevention. I went somewhere else. VIP said they don't charge just to LOOK at a healthy dog. Won't EVER return to a Banfield Hospital. They also gave me a hard time once for using a valid coupon. Had to talk to the manager before they honored it. These people are complete morons. My puppy got spayed there and the incision was red and puffy for 2 weeks, the suture was also coming out of the skin. Along with the infected incision my pup developed a uti (which I understand is normal after spaying). However, when I was taking my pup back for these issues they explained it as "excitement peeing" and wouldnt give us an anitbiotic. They also refused to admit the incision site was infected. After a week later and my poor pup peeing everywhere we took her back and they decided to check her urine. After keeping her for 4 hours she tested positive for a uti that I knew she had a week ago. I also questions a red circle on her stomach that I later found out they did a cysto with out my consent and without bothering to tell me when I picked her up. They said it wasn't a procedure so they didn't need to ask my permission. Since when is stickig a needle into my dog and aspirating urine not a procedure?? Please keep in mind I did not sign any papers before or after dropping her off, so there is no way I consented to this. After a few days of taking the antibiotic her "noninfected" incision site was no longer red or puffy. I told my concerns to the "head" vet who laughed at my concerns and gave no comfort. This hospital is a joke and I would never take another animal there again. I felt like I had more knowledge then any of these Vets. If you love your animal, do NOT take them here. Read Less

Our dog was going here before we got him so we have continued to take him here. I have always thought they were just ok. He has not been feeling well since last night so I tried calling them this morning to get an appointment. The website says they open at 9, however, no one answered the phone until 10:15. Then when I finally did get a hold of them, they said they couldn't see him today and I would have to take him to the emergency vet. The vet where I take my other dogs always have availability for urgent situations. Also, when you take them for their yearly visit, they keep the dogs for HOURS. The last time I took him, he was there for almost 6 hours. That seems ridiculous. I would honestly not recommend this vet to anyone looking for a vet in the Monroeville area. Read Less

My dear little cat had to be put to rest on a Sunday. I called the Monroeville Banfield. They told me to bring her in asap which I did. The treated the situation with so much respect and dignity. Have been there 3-4 times since then for their monthly vaccinations and I continue to have a pleasant experience, even when they switched up the veterinarians. Another positive thing to note is how great with communication they are when it comes to reminding you of a next appointment or checking up on your pet from the last appointment. Shows a lot of caring and initiative, especially for a working mother like me who has just enough time to manage my husband and kids schedule, let alone two pups! I took my dog in here as a walk in, he has a regular vet but I wanted him seen today. The staff was very kind but the vet was nothing more than a glorified sales person for their medications and vet plans. She spoke as if I didn't care for my dog well enough for her standards. I chose not to use traditional flea and tick medications due to their toxic ingredients and she seemed to only care about selling me some of the clinics medications. She also suggested several other services that were not needed...but of course "could be taken care of if I signed up for a vet plan". I found her to be very condescending. Why would I want to come back to a place like this? Next time I'll just wait for my regular vet to see him, the so called convenience of "walk in" is not worth it! Read Less

When we first shopped for a vet, Banfield was hands down the cheapest. We needed a dental cleaning for our dog and no other vet would quote us less than $800. Banfield shows compassion. When my cat died they sent a personally signed sympathy card from all the staff. However, i'm learning to question their competency. Every time I talk to someone there one person tells me my dog needs shots then a day later my dog is miraculous up to date on shots. Had to cancel my dog daycare appt because they couldn't keep anything straight and said my dog needed a vet appointment when he didn't. I have taken my dogs there and they simply forgot to give certain vaccines I asked for. Then they DOUBLE vaccinated my dog. I've never had a vet administer so many 'booster' shots and I'm not comfortable with it. Now it seems little things keep popping up. A few months ago they said they caught a urine sample from my one dog and she had a mild UTI and we had to buy special food. Then a few weeks ago they say my other dog has worms in his stool so we medicated him. I'm just not sure I trust them anymore. We go somewhere else for life or death type emergencies for our pets. I bring my kitties here because of the wellness plan. It is an incredible offer and makes it extremely affordable to keep your pets in good health. However, there is one doctor I've seen here several times who just likes to rush through things.  We make sure to request that we don't see him when we come here.  Nothing is ever explained to us by this particular doctor if we drop off our pets and then pick them up later - as recommended during days where the clinic is very busy.  The Banfield I went to in Virginia before moving to Pa was incredible - every doctor always took his or her time to explain everything after a visit - even if it was a drop off. At this location in Monroeville the front desk staff and techs are wonderful, so we keep coming back.  We'd just like all of the docs to be as friendly and patient as the rest of the staff. Took my cat here probably close to 4-5 times trying to get a diarrhea problem with my cat resolved. Probably spent close to $1k trying to figure it out with them. I took my cat to monroeville pet hospital and they figured out my cat's issue in a single visit with a simple food change. Constantly waited way past my appointment time, and they would take FOREVER once we got in the room as well. The workers are very nice, and the facility is super clean, but I highly recommend Monroeville Pet Hospital instead. Read Less

This is the worst place to bring your dog. They have no clue on what they're doing. I've never seen so many stupid people work for on company. They'll put your animal as risk whenever they feel like it. They love having he power to say no when it comes to you animals health.its just a trashy place all around. ALSO REMEMBER THAT IF YOU PAY MONTHLY FOR THE WELLNESS PLAN THEY WILL RENEW IT AT THE END OF 12 MONTHS WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORIZATION. IF YOU PAY IN ADVANCE THEY CAN'T DO THIS. I SUGGEST ANYONE GOING TO BANFIELD USE A CARE CREDIT CARD WHICH IS FOR HUMAN AND PET DOCTORS AS AT LEAST YOU CAN DISPUTE CHARGES AS WITH ANY CREDIT CARD. BANFIELD TALKS ABOUT A CHARITY PROGRAM THEY ALSO HAVE BUT DON'T ASK ABOUT IT AS NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT IT. I really liked this place. I made an emergency appointment for my cat because I suspected a UTI. They definitely informed me of all the costs before performing ANY procedures and were very helpful in guiding me in what procedures were necessary vs. which would be more for my peace of mind. I left spending a lot less (around $100 with the urine test) than I would have just walking in the door at the official emergency vet around the corner. I thought all the staff was very sweet and my cat was treated well. I also ended up signing up for the wellness plan since it would cover the cost of my entire treatment and with it he gets free visits, vaccines, and a teeth cleaning. Read Less

I would recomend the Monroeville Banfield to anyone! I absolutley love Dr. Sullivan and trust her with anything. I am happy with the wellness plan., which they will offer you and try to sell to anyone. But it is def. worth it and has saved us lots of money for just even get the dental cleaning done on top of everything else that it covers.  I have 2 kitties and they went above and beyong for them. Sadly my one kitty was diagnosed with Feline Herepes and had a horrible outbreak that was lasting a month and a half. Dr. Sullivan went above and beyond for my Simon and seeign hi mutiple times a week in such extreme circumstances. Sandly he had to be put down, but bandfield was very sympathetic and helpful durign this situation.  I only wish they were against declawing!!! We have used Banfield Monroeville for a number of years for our elderly golden retriever. We also subscribe to their "Wellness" plan and have been very happy with both the quality of treatment and the performance of the wellness plan. With our previous dog, there was NEVER a visit to the vet that did not cost less than $100. With the Wellness plan, routine visits are covered (including dental cleanings!) and many procedures and medications are at a significant discount. The staff there is very caring and compassionate and we're left with the feeling that our beloved dog is special. Additionally, the staff there while being very knowledgeable, is not afraid to admit when a situation is in need of a referral. For example: about 2.5 years ago our boy had several suspicious lumps that they removed. One of them turned out to be cancerous and the lead vet told us that while she did the best she could to remove the tumor, she willingly recommended that we see a surgical specialist for further surgery. I find it commendable that a professional is secure enough in their profession to make a referral when appropriate. Our boy, while he is currently doing well, is almost 13. He has been a patient at Banfield Monroeville for most of his life- I think we started taking him there when he was about 2 and have never had any issue with the care he's received. The manager Jamie is extremely rude,  her poor temper has ruined the trust I had in the care and treatment of my dogs. Instead of answering a question, she instantly jumped down my throat, slamming keys on the keyboard, then stormed off without a full answer to my question or an apology to her actions. If that is how she handles customer service, maybe she should not be a manager. I came here in search of a new vet to call my dog's PCP.  I was skeptical of going to a veterinary chain housed in a commercial Pet Store, but my first experience with Banfield was good.  They tend to try to oversell you on some immunizations and general wellness tests, as do most vets these days, but I was prepared for that and had a good idea of what my dog did and didn't need along those lines.Dr. Padgelek proved to be a  fantastic vet and is very caring and compassionate, even with my extremely large and sometimes difficult beast.  When an emergency arose, she was quick to provide us with our options as well as the pros/cons of each, and did a wonderful job on some emergency surgery that ended up saving my dog's life.  The staff there is also very friendly and attentive, and always provide a courtesy appointment reminder phone call the day before and follow-up phone calls in the days following any procedure.I would recommend this particular Banfield and Dr. Padgelek to anyone.  Give it a try with the free first visit coupon they offer and you'll see why for yourself. My dog is my best friend- my constant companion, and a provider of unconditional love.  When she gets sick, it alarms me- I just can't stand the thought of her being uncomfortable... even for a second.A few weeks ago, I noticed she was favoring her left ear.  Upon closer examination, it appeared red, and swollen- she had an infection.For the second time in a year I took her to the health clinic in PetSmart.  The clinic withing the store, Banfield Pet Hospital, is easy to access.  It was short notice, but the receptionist assured me Sasha (my sweet dog) would be seen.After work we took a drive, and were greeted warmly by the same woman that I spoke to on the phone.  We sat for a few minutes, then were escorted to an examination room.One of the Vet's assistants came in and began a pre-examination.  She was very patient with my dog, who often takes time to warm up to strangers.  After the examination, she explained the likely treatment, and also told me what the costs would be.The vet entered the examination room, and got to know Sasha before examining her- she took a sincere interest in my dog; it was nice to see.The Vet diagnosed her condition (bacterial infection in the ear), prescribed treatment, and brought my dog up-to-date with her other shots.It was a pleasure to have the professionals at Banfield hospital treat my dog.  They were professional, courteous, and competent.If you ever find yourself with a sick pet, make an appoint at Banfield- you'll be happy with the end-result.Chef Chuck K. We adopted 2 cats from a shelter of which I will not name... One was sick the other was not spayed and is over 1 year old. Went into Banfield due to the hours which are great for working people!!! Thank you so much. The professionalism and the care were both great!! They not only charge the same as other Vets do but we got the warm and fuzzy from the staff. When our little kitty needed to have bloodwork due to an issue, they run the blood in their lab on cite..we didnt have to wait for it to be sent out. We were back and forth over trying to find a closer vet but we decided to make the trip because of the treatment our cats got. And since they are located in PetMart you can also get your other child a toy on the way out!! Read Less

f i could give Banfield more stars than five i would. I use the one in Monroeville. WOW!!! What a staff......not only professional but caring. I have four dogs. They not only remember my name and my dogs but actually take the time to care about their well being. I have had everything done there from litters of puppies being vaccinated to check ups to having a pet put down. I really cant say enough good things about them. I highly recommend Banfield. I actually have a very bad experience in this specific ""hospital"" (which I have hard time to acknowledge...). I got a pet and had it in Banfield the Pet Hospital Monroeville for wellness plan since 2006. Initally they sent an intern as it's issued doctor. One time the intern gave it an overdoes of steroid for treating it's skin problem, which caused it immunodeficiency. Another time we had our pet to do dantal cleaning. After the process they asked us to bring it back w/o informing us how to take care of an after-surgery pet (it had anesthesia). Our pet actually stumbled when we opened the cage. The worse experience I had is just happening recently. Last week I had a chance to review my pet's medical information. During the conversation with the fornt desk clerk I noticed that she didn't know the policy of the health insurance they propagandize all the time. After we asked more detail questions, we found that since 2006 they miss a vaccination which they list in their service. We realized that they never explain what they've done or what they've never done. We asked the clerk to provide our pet's medical history, interestingly, she said they don't have our pet's medical history any more! A pet hospital does not have their cleints' previous medical records! What does it mean to a pet owner? If you are using their service, it's really a good habit to itemize the service they actually provide and check it afterward. B/c they could miss something and never tell you what's going on. Here is their game: they always make many warnings and problems to pet owners so that it makes you feel like your pet needs to do this or do that. However, some items in their wellness plans is just unnecessary. But when your pet actually gets medical problems, their help is very very little. Not mention to really cure your pet.
