I had such a great experience here! When I called, the receptionist was so helpful and squeezed us into an appointment the next day. I am a first- time pet owner and totally clueless! I was late because the cat was hiding and we couldn't get her in the carrier and we were still able to be seen. Alana was amazing! I have used the Monroeville Pet Hospital for a number of years for the care of 2 shelter cats, each of whom came with chronic conditions that needed attention. Together Dr. Oster and I found ways to manage the first cat's chronic illness and keep him as healthy as possible. When he developed an acute illness and required surgery, Dr. Oster was informative in outlining my options, supportive of my decisions and compassionate when his physical condition deteriorated further. My current cat also seems to have a chronic condition and again, I appreciate Dr. Oster's approach to diagnosis and her matter of fact explanation of the possibilities in managing and accepting his "lifestyle" of insisting that he was meant to be an outside cat most of the time. The Monroeville Pet Hospital office staff has always been attentive, professional and well. Call backs, responses to questions and reminders are made in a timely fashion, and the atmosphere in the office has always been one of orderliness and calm professionalism. First issue arose from the Heart-worm medication sold to me for my dog: They gave me meds for a dog up to 25 pounds because they failed to weigh him on his visit for a checkup. He was almost 50 pounds at the time. This should have raised the biggest red flag in the world, but I left myself to be caught with a problem later: Upon requesting a copy of my dog's vaccination records prior to trying to board him, I was informed by the receptionist that they don't have any record of a distemper vaccination. I now have no recourse in terms of boarding him for the weekend because this vets office is too inept to communicate with pet owners on basic preventative care needs. Love taking my bunny here ! This is the ONLY place around that not only trims rabbit nails , but for a good price and with a gentle loving hand . I have never been to this vet in my life, and I can just say that from reading the reviews, I have never seen a business respond so nasty and unprofessionally to people who are writing bad reviews! Anytime you see a bad review, the manager/owner tells the people they are sorry they had a bad experience and give them a phone number to call. You should be ashamed of yourself for the way you talk to people! Your smart mouth is horrible and unprofessional! If people are writing all of these bad reviews it is probably because you suck and their experience sucked! Thank you for determining where I will NOT take my cat tomorrow for her eye due to how you treat upset customers. I never write these review but I went to MPH today for a first time checkup for my cat since I moved to PA and I thought I would share my experience. My cat has a chronic illness and I've taken my cat to other vets and feline specialists all around the country (literally) and none of the vets have been as knowledgeable and thorough as Dr. Oster; I was truly impressed. I am hopeful in the new treatment plan she proposed. She has years of experience and should be recognized as a valuable veterinary resource in western PA. Really glad I found this place.Read Less

We have been long standing clients of the Monroeville Pet Hospital, and think that both Dr. Oster and Dr, Brugos and staff are wonderful. Dr. Oster saved the life of our cat when he had an adverse reaction to a vaccine years ago. Dr. Brugos has been wonderful in caring for that same cat, who now is a diabetic. While there may be cheaper and/or closer locations for us, we continue to bring our four cats and now our new dog here, because of the wonderful care we have received over the past 15 years. I switched vets and luckily came across Dr Burgos. He changed my boy's meds and he was running and jumping again. Where my foster puppy was fearful, we now just stop so he loves the office. Dr. Oster is absolutely phenomenal. She is kind, manages animals of all dispositions excellently, and is very knowledgeable. The office is clean, the staff friendly, you rarely have to wait long for your appointment and you are usually waiting in the exam room away from other animals which is appreciated by my cats a lot! She saved my cat Gizmo's life at least once (he has more health issues because of treatment from a prior owner). I love how she treats my pets and I recommend her highly. She has been right on with their care and any diagnoses every time. To address the 1 stars: The only way I can imagine anyone giving her a poor review would be if they cannot handle being told the truth about their pet's condition and solutions in a matter-of-fact way or they are taking her honesty as an insult because of their own over-sensitivity or ego. She cuts to the chase; this is about an animal's health and care not making you feel good about yourself. Also, characterizing someone as having "poor english" because they have an accent and are not a native speaker is an offensive display of ethnocentric bigotry. Grow up people.Read Less

Dr. Oster started caring for my two cats when they were only a few weeks old. Now 16 years later, I would never consider going anywhere else. She has seen them (and me) at their best and also their worst healthy checkups, teeth extractions, food allergies, arthritis, and now mega-colon. Her care for my cats at every stage of their lives has been exceptional. I appreciate Dr. Osters direct approach to medical diagnosis and her willingness to explore treatment options that meet situational needs. In a recent event Dr. Oster provided above and beyond care and support while my cat was at the emergency clinic as a surgery patient (a specialty surgery that Dr. Oster does not perform). She spoke directly with the surgeons to ensure they had the most accurate history, called me frequently to keep me informed, and most importantly provided me with detailed information and acted in an advisory role when decisions were required. She treated the care of my cat as if she were her own and called several times (even after business hours) to make sure the recovery process was going well. She provided me with sound medical advice and much needed emotional stability during this latest health crisis, and now manages the aftercare. Dr. Oster is supported by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. From the receptionist to the technicians, it is my experience that every person associated with this veterinary practice is well trained and cares deeply about the animals they are entrusted with as well as their owners. The office common area and exam rooms are always clean. NOT HAPPY!I was not happy with my visit. I called on a Monday to make an appointment since my puppy had the diarrhea. It was my first visit. The earliest appointment was on a Saturday. I asked what their cost is for a visit. I was quoted a price and when I was there I was charged more for the visit. I was told because it is Saturday. I told the receptionist that the appointment was made for Saturday and that was the price I was quoted. Also the sign in the front had a 25% off for new customers. The secretary said that it was for during the week. I said that it does not say that on the sign. She got smart with me and said that the sign is not big enough to write that. Jana Oster and her staff are nothing but the best. Dr. Oster is knowlegeable, forth coming with information, explains situations in layman's terms and is so good with the animals. I have dogs and a cat and I would trust nobody but her. The staff is professional, friendly and knowlegeable. I would and do recommend this practice to anybody but really encourage people with tiny dogs to see Dr. O. She get's it.
