WOW! Where to begin with this place?! At the beginning I suppose. I have two cats, a 2 year old indoor/outdoor cat, and a 16 year old indoor cat. The 2 year old had developed a slightly swollen bottom lip and we had discovered a tick on the back of her neck, along with a few fleas. I was a bit freaked by this discovery! At the same time, my poor 16 year old cat developed some itching and scabbing around her neck and was in a general state of distress. We also discovered fleas on her. The flea thing was new to me, as I had never dealt with the problem having only an indoor cat. Needless to say, I got them an appointment straight away. The appointment was for 4:00pm. We were taken into a room, where both cats were looked over by a seemingly clueless tech/assistant, and were told that the Doctor was being delayed by a procedure in another room. The Doctor did not enter the room until well past 5:00pm. Strike one. She was loud, and very bombastic. We (my boyfriend included), barely got a word in edgewise, and when we did attempt to ask questions, she seemed annoyed and spoke in a rather condescending tone. More than anything, and to our surprise, she seemed little concerned with our reasons for bringing our cats in and was more concerned with running up a rather large bill. She didn't comb either one of them, in attempt to grasp the nature of the infestation. Didn't look at the spot where the tick was located. Didn't ask details of the tick removal process, or ease any fears associated with ticks, suggested we switch from plastic bowels to metal, and went on and on about Feline Leukemia. When we asked where we currently stood money wise, the Dr. chuckled and claimed she "would have no clue about charges." leaving it to the tech/assistant to attempt to figure it all out, which took a few tries. Add to all of this the fact that both the Dr. and the tech/assistant kept leaving and reentering the room. By the time we got out of the room, and the front desk got through fumbling with papers and prescriptions it was 6:20pm! We were left with significantly lighter pockets and no clear solutions to the issues our cats were/are having. I have always gone to Dr. Jones at the Plum Animal Hospital where I have always been met with respect, compassion, intelligence, courtesy and efficiency, and it was only out of convenience and schedule constraints that I went to Pittsburgh East Animal Hospital. What a huge mistake!Read Less
