As this vet was round the corner from our new home, they seemed the best choice. However, I wasn't thrilled with the attitude of the vet we saw because they seemed rather gruff, unfriendly and unempathic towards our three cats. First off, our oldest cat Biscuit was treated for a respiratory issue with antibiotics. When I asked if we should give her probiotics, the vet snorted and fobbed me off. Naturally, I was proven right when Biscuit unfortunately got terrible diarrhea thanks to the administered antibiotics. However, what really took the cake was when our youngest kitten Teddy began suffering from constant (daily) diarrhea and we had to take in stool samples twice to try and figure out what was going on. The first time, we were fobbed off and told the test had been negative and they never even bothered to suggest any remedy or medication to help alleviate Teddy's diarrhea. The second time he was tested, the test showed he had round worm (I was wondering if he might have had it all along, but it just didn't show up in the first test). They gave him one pill although I read online that they sometimes need several doses due to the incubation period of the round worm larvae. We took in a stool sample to be retested post-medication and they didn't even bother to call us back with the results, so I can only assume that it was negative ... and yet Teddy's problem persisted. They weren't even worried when I told them that sometimes there is blood in his stool. That was the last straw and, at the recommendation of my friend, we switched all three cats' care over to Dr. Tindall in Stockton, and so far we have been very happy with him. He has a great manner with the cats who are much calmer around him and his prices are also much more reasonable. He tested Teddy's stool a third time and when the test came back negative, he at least gave him some medication for IBS to try before we do more extensive, and possibly expensive, testing. Why New Hope Veterinary didn't do that is beyond me. I value a vet who actually cares about my pets (who are my family members) and who doesn't just give up on them as if they are an inconvenience. This review represents my subjective opinion based on my personal experience.
