I saw some reviews on here from previous years that did not have nice things to say about this clinic... however I wanted to leave a more recent review describing my positive experience at this clinic. This was my first visit with CHCC with my new 12-week old kitten that needed a check up done. First of all, the receptionist/ front desk woman whose name is Rose, is an incredibly sweet, kind, understanding person who returned my email and answered my questions about the clinic within a very short time. They make it convenient because  you can schedule an appointment online or by giving them a call. The clinic will try their very best to get your cat in for an appointment. I overheard a person who had called the clinic in a panic because their cat was very sick and Rose was very understanding and told them to come in right away since it sounded very serious. I know for my cats I appreciate a place that understands how much I love my cat daughters and makes me feel like they are a priority. The clinic itself is very nice and is located in the heart of Chestnut Hill which is a beautiful area. There are a few parking spots in the back of the clinic as well. My baby kitten, Pemba was seen by Dr. Marion Alston who was very nice and explained what shots/ tests she would be getting done and asked if I had any questions. Pemba felt comfortable with Dr. Marion and decided to make some air biscuits while he was holding her and examining her. Too freaking cute. Dr. Marion was very kind and professional and I did not feel rushed at all while I was there. At some of the larger vet clinics I have felt as though the doctor was in a big hurry and rushed through the visit- I did not feel that way here. This is a smaller and very pleasant clinic that really takes their time with your cat daughter/ cat son :) and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great Veterinary clinic. I was surprised to see some of the negative reviews. However, they were years ago, so things must have changed because I had a great experience. I worked at a cat hospital back at home so when moving to Philadelphia I was more than happy to find an all cat hospital for Anna. The staff up front was so welcoming and attentive. They understood my concerns for Anna as she gets very nervous at the vet and can lash out in aggression. To my surprise, a very good surprise, they did not sedate Anna and were able to handle her in a manner that did not stress her out too much. Although I only talked to Dr. Hehn for about 10 minutes she was very sweet and made it clear that she has a true passion for her job. Overall, Anna and I will definitely continue to come here! She stayed on the phone with me for at least an hour and listened and consoled me while I cried . It was one the hardest thing in the world I ever had to do .They walked with me the entire way, I was allowed to spend as much time as I needed to hold my baby. So loving, so caring and so understanding. I received a sympathy card in the mail not longer afterward, it made me feel good to know that they cared even after my visit. Similar to other reviewers, I am very disappointed with my recent experience at CHCC. Prior to my visit last week, I had Dr. Connor as my cats' vet. I did not know that he had left the practice/been let go.  Things were very different without him.  Like Julie M. (see review below), I was charged a ridiculous amount of money ($450.00) for a simple exam, bloodwork, and 2 days worth of pain/stomach meds. THEN, I get a call from Dr. Gellman saying that the bloodwork came back negative (although he didn't say what for) and he "isn't sure" why my cat's appetite has decreased or why he has recently started drooling, other than the possibility of him needing dental work.  So he gave me an estimate of $700 for the dental work, but said that he wouldn't be able to do it until July.  Seriously? $450 for nothing.Fast forward to today...just had an appointment with Dr. Meg Harvey at West Chester Animal Hospital. After a 10-minute exam, she found a tumor under the left side of my cat's tongue. She explained that this was most likely the cause for his decreased appetite and drooling. She also took the time to explain that the tumor would continue to grow and could eventually effect his ability to breathe properly. This was heartbreaking news, but at least we know what's happening now. Dr. Harvey went over our options (oncology, biopsies, etc.), but said that it would be fairly traumatic for our 15-year old kitty. So she gave us a prescription for prednisone to help with the inflammation and pain. Soon we will do the humane thing and put our sweet boy down. The price for for Dr. Harvey's expertise, kindness, compassion, and the prednisone prescription...$58.00.And Dr. Gellman was going to charge me $700 (on top of the $450 he already stole) to do dental surgery on my cat who has a tumor in his mouth. Seriously, don't go to Chestnut Hill Cat Clinic if you care about your cat and don't want to be ripped off. Read Less

To put it plainly, Dr. Hehn is our hero. Techs and other staffers are amazing at The Cat Clinic, too. It is clear that everyone there genuinely cares about your cat's well-being. We've had three cats be patients at The Cat Clinic and Dr. Hehn has talked us through strategies for correcting inappropriate potty-on-the-floor behavior, pilling kitties when they give you a hard time taking medicine, and helping the cats get used to their carriers to make it easier to get them inside. We have never been rushed out of an appointment--she takes all the time necessary to go over all of our concerns. I like that she has multiple strategies to give us when we're having trouble with a given aspect of caring for our cats, it feels like they get the most comprehensive care possible with Dr. Hehn. Recently, one of our cats became so nervous in the car ride over that he peed in his carrier! We were not expecting that with him because he'd never done it before (although I've had other cats that did). When we came in, the receptionist called back and some vet techs cleaned up our kitty and his carrier immediately! I was really surprised and happy. Overall, trips to the vet are stressful but The Cat Clinic is going to give your cat the calmest environment possible. It's quiet, it's cozy, and the staff really know what they're doing in terms of handling your pet. Read Less

Until this fall, I would've give 5 stars. Dr. Blaine Connor had been the primary vet at CH Cat Clinic for about 20 years (and we moved here in 2008.) He was excellent;  warm, knowledgeable, compassionate.  But management fired / laid him off without warning this summer, citing financial reasons. (Which I interpret as "he's so experienced we have to pay him too much and we can make way more money using our much younger vet." )The staff had clearly been instructed to say nothing about his departure. "I don't really know what happened or where he is now." I even felt they were trying to hide it from me initially, as I had to ask why my appt had to be with newer vet and couldn't be with Dr. C.  I really don't like (1) That they let him go with NO warning to him or his long-time clients, who loved him so much; and (2) That they are being so secretive about his departure now.  We're switching our cats to Montgomery Animal Hospital in Flourtown, where we take our dog. We took our cats here for the last couple of years, however we will not be going back.  We brought our youngest cat in, several months ago, for inappropriate peeing and were told by the male vet that he had crystals in his urine, which were causing him pain.  At the time, he was on Wellness dry food, and the vet told us to switch him to Science Diet Light dry food instead, which he claimed would help dissolve and prevent those crystals.  We even asked if we should do the wet food instead, thinking flushing his system with more liquids made sense, but the vet positively insisted that dry food was the way to go for issues like this. The issue repeated once, until the vet switched us to Prescription Diet C/D.  Three months, an overnight vet stay, and several thousands of dollars later, we find out from another vet that this was 100% wrong, and we should have immediately been told to have our cat eat Prescription Diet S/D.  S/D even has the word "dissolution" on the package - you know, to DISSOLVE the crystals.  That he suggested C/D, which is for long-term maintenance of an issue we had not yet solved, made little sense to the more competent professionals we spoke to; and his insistence on Science Diet was positively ludicrous and directly damaging to our cat.  We are only now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, and though our cat is not 100% better yet, he is getting there, no thanks to this terrible place.P.S. - the lady vet is very sweet and seems competent, and the shaggy-haired vet tech is the best. I took my beloved cat (Temah) of 20 years to the Chestnut Hill Cat Clinic to be gently put to sleep .The staff was amazing , caring, sympathetic and very patient. I remember calling to get information about the procedure and to make arrangements , the receptionist was so warm and understanding. My experience with the Chestnut Hill Cat Clinic ,was that of a peacefu and memorable journey. I'm very happy that I chose the Chestnut Hill Cat Clinic . Vearnessa Whigham Read Less

When I called to make an appointment the lady on the other end said "Enjoy him while he's little and take tons of pictures..they grow up too quick!" I hung up and thought, how cute was that??? They've helped me through a nasty case of conjunctivitis, taught me how to desensitize him to a good teeth brushing (their tip sheet worked like a charm!..along with a helping of patience on my part), and were so sweet when I voiced my worry about him going under the knife to be neutered.
