After our visit, we received an email of our receipt and a summary which outlined information Dr. Glantz gave us. He went the extra mile to have links included in the email to further explain certain things. If your pet needs anything other than routine care, go to PENN Vet.  It appears to be more more costly at first, but its comprehensive state of the art lab & research departments can diagnose & recommend the correct treatment in 24 hrs. This place will cost you about the same due to several visits & the inability to make the correct diagnosis & provide  treatment for such. Read Less

My experience with Companion has been like no other, and I've been dealing with vets for twenty years now. I've learned more about my animals in one visit than here I have being a regular patient at other places for years!! They really take time with you. I never feel rushed or as if I'm asking too many questions....and I ask a lot of questions! I've been seeing Dr Glantz and I'm super thrilled with him. I believe consistency is key when dealing with any group facility with multiple doctors. (Find one you love and always ask for that ONE!) He's super honest and if they can't provide something specialized, he lets me know exactly where to go. He has given my animals great care and me, great advice. On our last visit alone the assistant not only emailed me immediately following our visit (before I got to my car, actually) our bill, follow up treatment and diet information, which included a customizable meal plan (I just can't say no to my little guy), and she emailed again that night asking how my pup was feeling after multiple routine shots AND she called the following day and the day after to check up on him!! The service here is incredible! I also love and appreciate that they're paperless for green reasons and have a beautiful, thriving living wall in the waiting area. They also have their own app where you earn points for every hundred you spend that can go towards multiple things such as nail trimmings and money off of dental procedures. They're so high-tech and it's nice to know all of the money we spend on our animals is recognized. It's a bit more here than other places but I feel for the excellent service provided and the piece of mind knowing my fur babies are given the best care possible is priceless. The staff at Companion is absolutely amazing! We have an anxious pup and bringing him in for his annual appointment or any illnesses in between can make us anxious too! They take so much time to make him uncomfortable and when we get to the point where he inevitably isn't, they work with us to get the job done- it can be a full team effort. Best of all, I never feel like they are frustrated and they generally seem to appreciate our sweet guy even in his moments of stress.Outside of that- I love the loyalty program, email remainders, follow ups after appointments, and emailed receipts. I am sick and tired of bringing my cat here and being told he was out of control. The cat is 12 years old and was at the cat hospital for 5 years and they never had a problem never had to buy pills from companion never got lectures. Somehow it is my fault for not training the cat. Maybe the problem is your protocols need to be changed. This is a general problem with companion who's bossy staff gives the impression that you are serving them instead of the other way round. I have an elderly cat (just shy of 17 years) who was having some bathroom problems this week. I was really scared of bringing her in, as I've had horrible experiences with vets in the past where I've been shamed or my cat talked down on. Companion was different. I was in a horrible and sad mood when I showed up, but they lifted my mood through their cheery attitude and compliments and questions about my cat. I also don't have a lot of money, and they understood my financial anxieties and clearly explained the costs and double-checked if the amount was ok before continuing. Overall, a very positive experience for me and my cat. We felt cared about and more than just patients, and I never felt like they were trying to pull more and more money out of me. The issue I had with them most recently was the topper on the cake for me as to why I will never bring a pet there ever again and will make sure to tell everyone and then some to never go there.  I took my cat to the ER Friday night because she was having trouble breathing, they did what they could to help her for the time being and they told me to bring her to a primary care vet ASAP because of the severity of the situation.  Saturday morning I called CPH and told the receptionist the details of this serious matter and the recommendation from VSEC to be seen ASAP.  Without even speaking to a doctor about the urgency of my call, the receptionist simply said "We have nothing available today."  I repeated what I told her before to possibly sway her and her response was, "I can give you an appointment Monday night."  After that I called Queen Village Animal Hospital and told them the same thing-although they were also fully booked for the day, the vet STAYED LATE just to tend to my cats emergency.  My second complaint is that they are VERY expensive.  If you take time to call vets around Philadelphia for estimates I promise you, you will find cheaper for just as good of service.  Also, if you are willing to take a drive, looking outside of Philadelphia you will find even CHEAPER.  I have had cats my entire life and many of my friends and family have had cats.  They told me that my cat would need her teeth cleaned-they gave me an estimate of 800-1000 because they have to do anesthesia.  Not ONCE if my life had I ever had to do that for any of my other cats.  I asked around to other people with cats and they agreed-they never had to do that.  I feel as though it's just another way they can suck money out of you.  That being said, since they made it sound COMPLETELY necessary, I found a place that charged me 400 for everything CPH would have done.  It's a shame they drain people of money instead of charging reasonable prices to take care of peoples pets they love. Very airy and bright place. Very friendly and attentive. For some reason my dog was anxious and they introduced her to "peanut butter ",who knew. Vet was thorough and the tech ,Marco,very friendly and patient with my furry daughter. Received vaccines,some testing. Made an  appointment for grooming for my GSD. Parking was just a problem for me. My dog was sick from February 2018 - June 2018 because of Companion. He is only one year old and they repeatedly put him on the exact same treatment option over and over and over again with no results. They never thought outside the box, or offered any other solutions. When I finally protested the [no lie] 6th round of the same antibiotic in a 4 month time frame, they recommended VSEC for an "Internal Specialist" which to speak to on the phone even was $160. [Companion and VSEC have a partnership.] We finally got a second opinion at a nearby animal hospital to which they basically said "Don't waste your money, he just needs more fiber in his diet" and Boom, he's been totally fine for the last 30 days. Companion is a bunch of crooks.If that wasn't enough, we decided to finish up our time with Companion after a month-long hold of a tech visit for two vaccinations. I called two weeks ago to confirm that we would not be seeing any more shotty doctors and getting charged for it and they confirmed "Yep. Totally fine!" Now, two days before they are insisting we see a doctor and won't take our appointment otherwise. Save your money, time, and energy. We spent over $3000 listening to these crazies with no results. My first visit was great. My second visit was awful. When I called to speak to someone I spoke to the administrative manager and she was defensive and incredibly frustrating to deal with. Instead of acknowledging why/how I felt, she just kept giving me these scripted responses. As if my feelings/experience could not possibly be relevant b/c her administrative handbook says otherwise. I’d like to give a warning about Companion. One of the vet techs (Lindsay) there almost ruined my service dog’s working career because of how rough she was with him (completely improper handling, the woman had no idea how a prong collar works and yanked on it so hard he yelped and jumped while the vet was examining him). After that they were unable to vaccinate him or draw blood for a heart worm test because he was terrified. She then had the nerve to lecture me about familiarizing him with having others handle him (hello he’s actually trained for that) when she is the sole reason he now mistrusts the vet. He’s never had a problem before (routine visits, emergencies, no issues whatsoever) and now we’ve had to work with a new vet’s office to desensitize. Anyways, proceed with caution. Hopefully that was a one-off, but Companion lost a client (with several animals) that day, and I’ll certainly never set foot in there again. Read Less

Very helpful, kind and knowledgeable staff. Looks to be a well equipped building as well as the staff. Helped make my visit with Melvin a lot less scary. I was the worrier. It's hard to find a good exotics vet in Philly. I took my rat since she was having some issues. I had a great experience. All staff was friendly and prompt. They were ready for me as soon as I arrived and took me immediately to the exam room. They were very interested, kind, and gentle with my pet. Dr. Germano was amazing. She spent time explaining to me what all the issues could be. She and the vet tech, Erin, spent time cleaning up my rattie since she was a mess. All staff reiterated I could contact them with any follow up questions or concerns. Price was a bit expensive but not unreasonable. Read Less

Waste of time and money. I had my cat (Mr. Pickles) in for bad diarrhea. 1) I took him and they drew blood, gave him meds and dietary food2) Take him to the VSEC for an ultrasound (on their recommendation)3) More meds and different food4) Different meds and food5) Today I called them and they said I should bring him in againYeah you had me the first 4 times. 6 months later and about $900 later, the cat still has the same problem. I have no problem spending money to fix my cat, it is the waste of time that bothers me. *I do have to say they were all nice there but in the end, my cat is still sick. Read Less

I felt so comfortable and confident in the care here. My cat is scared of other animals so they told us we could call them from outside and wait in the car until a room was ready. My kitty is feisty but they handled her firmly and gently so she could get her shots and nail trim. They explained everything I should be doing for her clearly, and didn't try upselling me or anything on her treatment. I definitely recommend this place! Read Less

This place is absolutely amazing! I've been going here for about 7 years now. The doctors are very professional and excellent. I recently just had to euthanize my pug. Dr. Majeska was amazing. She was so compassionate. The vet tech was even crying with us. When we were finished, Dr. M had the tech lead us down a back set of stairs so that we would not have to walk through the lobby devastated.I love how they email you the VERY detailed discharge information after your visit!They also have a groomer named Leslie who is AWESOME!!! I have never written a review online in my life but I feel like this was such a positive experience I should let people know. We used to take our pets to the Banfield at Petsmart in South Philly and had a month to month plan with them. They made us feel so uncomfortable leaving our pets with them, didn't appear to take proper care, and were overall they were just rude and inconvenient. So, we decided to go to Companion Pet Hospital for our cat today for a checkup instead. Front desk - friendly, patient, professional. Vet tech- so nice and caring. Vet- caring, thorough, and quick. When I called and asked questions and prices before making the appointment they didn't rush me and were very nice and answered all my questions. They let me know exactly what it would cost. They didn't aggressively try to sell me more. I took my cat in from the street and brought him to Paws originally for neutering and shots and didn't have the paperwork and Companion Pet Hospital even called Paws to acquire information on him! Like I didn't even have to do that leg work! Then after the visit we were emailed a break down of everything that we had talked about. Just so professional and accomodating. Space was modern and clean. They have a parking lot too. Pricing was fair and reasonable. Animals can be expensive but I didn't find them to be more expensive than anywhere else with good care. In conclusion I feel like this vet is definitely as good as it gets and I was really impressed! Read Less

I highly recommend this place i brought my cat (Kitt) there to be cremated, the staff was very compassionate to me during my very difficult time, they gave me time in a private room to say goodbye to my cat (KITT) and at christmas time i receved a card signed by the entire staff and doctors saying they where sorry about the passing of my cat (Kitt), that really touched my heart, so i want to say thank you to the staff of Companion Pet Hospital for being kind to me in difficult time. Companion Pet Hospital's customer service refused a food prescription, claiming a valid document was expired. They were terribly rude (particularly Brad- I think his name was) and raised his voice in from of a full lobby and wouldn't sell me the food I needed for my cat without booking a $100 annual physical - ready to sell the food before the consult. Didn't add up. I've been a paying customer for 4 years with this CPH. My cat had recently been checked up throughly 3 months prior, and they wouldn't honor the document from a reputable vet in the same area. I went to VSEC to ask if the prescription was still valid, and they confirmed - It, in fact never expires. The customer service at VSEC was so remarkable. They were so kind, and sent me home with a pint bag of the cat food my tuxedo male truly needed. Thank you VSEC for making your practice about the animals more than the business' bottom line !! I will never bring any pet of mine back to CPH. Rude, unconcerned with my pet, and unnecessarily unwilling to give a good, (much less great) customer experience. Read Less

We have been with CPH since July and I'm so happy they are in the neighborhood!!! Dr. Germano always takes time with us (new pet owners) to answer our questions and help our kitten. I've never felt rushed and always feel like my questions or concerns are answered. All the techs and front of house staff are also equally great. Best and most compassionate doctors, techs, and staff I've found. I've been coming to Companion since they opened and it just gets better and better as they add new vets. They're all amazing. At his point I believe we've seen all the doctors and, though I have a few favorites, I trust and respect all of them. They've all treated me and my pets with love and kindness during happy times and during tough times. Dr. Majesca guided me through end of life care with my beloved pup and cheered me on as I adopted a senior pup. She, Dr. Glanz, and Dr. Bukowski have seen my three pets in heathy and sick states and always make me and my pets feel cared for; I never feel rushed even as the waiting room fills up. I took my pup in over the weekend for a recheck with Dr. Bukowski and at the end of the appt. I asked her a laundry list of questions about my cat, who had just been released from VSEC. She spent almost 10 minutes talking to me about a pet that that appt. wasn't even for! Today Dr. Majeska called to follow up about my cat and spent a lot of time talking to me, gathering history, advising me, comforting me, and generally being amazing. I love this place! Read Less

I can't believe I never reviewed this place. Five years ago, my beagle had cancer and we had to put him down. Companion Pet Hospital was the place I took my beagle on his last day of life. The folks here were extremely compassionate. They took their time to explain the whole process. They allowed us to bring family and friends. After my dog passed, they allowed us to stay as long as we needed to. A few days later, our dog was cremated. We were given a beautiful box keepsake with his ashes inside. Along with the ashes was a his pawprint in a little clay mold - I didn't even know they were going to do this and THAT was amazing. That little piece of him meant so much to us.I couldn't recommend Companion Pet Hospital enough. Read Less

They have been amazing from the beginning and continue to expand their welcoming facility. The staff exceeds expectations and genuinely care. I like Companion Pet Hospital.  The vets and techs are very nice. The facilities are clean. After each appointment, they send you an email invoice and a little update from the tech about your visit.  The tech usually emails the following day to check in and make sure everything is ok, which is very nice. It would be nice to have an invoice when you hand over the credit card because I usually have no idea why it just cost $150, but really that's my only con.   I think they are bit pricey.  You end up paying over $200 because of all the extras they add on.  But I will continue to go here! They are accommodating for day of appointments and respond to emails quickly. Read Less

They are the most honest and caring animal hospital. with love and truth I say they did the best job in handling a severely injured 8 week old. Companion fixed what VSEC messed up. From my phone call first thing this morning until the minute I left the office, I had nothing but pleasant interactions the staff of Companion Pet Hospital. I was given an appointment time of 3:30 but was called twice to see if I would be able to bring my rabbit in earlier due to the perceived state of his health. Upon walking in the door I was given the paperwork for new exotic clients and then taken to a room where it would be cooler and a little more calm for the bunny. The wait wasn't any longer than I've had at other offices. Dr. Germano was kind, caring, and listened to my concerns. Her obvious passion for small animals definitely showed as she checked my little guy over. When it was discovered that what I thought could have been a respiratory infection was actually probably not, she continued to listen to me ramble on about him and his health history. Not only did she thoroughly explain everything she discovered, I was given a second opinion on our current treatment plan and why she felt antibiotics could turn out to be bad choice at this time. She seemed genuinely interested in finding out about the next appointment with his regular vet in September. Seor MunchPickles and I are very often in Philadelphia and is comforting to know that there is a vet here who cares so much about her job and I know that if ever need take him to the vet down here again, I will be able to. I'm a new client and had an amazing first visit today! Dr. Leibowitz, recommended to me by friends, was nothing short of wonderful. Her patient was my senior, FIV+ cat Tommy, who was recently diagnosed with advanced renal failure. Dr. Leibowitz was very thorough- giving me all the information I need to understand my cat's illness, and reviewing his treatment options, from conservative to advanced. They also give you an estimate right in the exam room of the cost for the treatment they are suggesting, and will work backwards with you based on what you can afford. I left there with a plan for palliative care for my cat that made me feel much better. No complaints and I highly recommend both Companion and Dr. Leibowitz! Read Less

I live 1 block away from CPH so naturally it was a given for me to take my kitty here when I adopted him. But after one visit, I was hooked. The techs are professional and the vets are so caring. I have never had to wait over 5 minutes to be seen. Everything is quick and to the point and everyone always wants to see Tucker go home happy and healthy. While I can't compare to other vets since I have only been to this one, it is a little pricey. My kitten goes every 3-4 weeks for shots and deworming and I pay over $100 per visit. But despite the price, I'm confident Tucker is getting some of the best kitty care in the city. Read Less

If you have any choice on who to see, Dr. McCafferty is THE most incredible veterinarian I have ever been to!! She is kind and unbelievably knowledgeable, but won't ever shy away from telling you to see someone with a specific area of expertise. Not to mention, she calls my cat, "My Puff" which literally melts my heart every time. The entire staff and how they run their vet, is second to none. LOVE Companion Pet Hospital!!! I wanted to make an appointment because my dog's gums looked red and irritated. They said they wanted to take him that same day, which we did. They really are very nice, they listen to pretty much anything you need to talk about, and when you get home there is a comprehensive email detailing everything that was discussed... Had my first appointment with these folks today - just an exam and rabies vacc for my house cat Sylvester. This place is wonderful! From the moment I came in the door, the staff was super helpful and very kind to my cat. Everyone in the office, the vet tech, and the vet were great with him and very thorough in addressing any concerns I had about his health. Prices are reasonable (exam and vaccinations were $108). A really great part of the experience is the detailed notes they emailed to me after the exam, including a diet plan for him and a quote for dental work in the future. I got a weekday afternoon appointment scheduled within a week of my first call, which I think is pretty reasonable. The office was pretty busy while I was there, and they definitely take the same amount of care with every animal that walks in the door. Every staff member listened carefully to the concerns of pet owners and observed the pets very thoroughly. I can't say enough great things about this place and I look forward to bringing my cat back. On October 6th we had our yearly vet appointment for our dear dog Duncan(minpin Terrier mix is what we were told. Ever since we rescued him he has been accumulating some un-wanted weight. Not know all I should about dog foods, I was following the serving size on the bag. and not taking into account the types of teats we give him. Now when I say we are concerned I'm not saying hes two tons. His ideal weight is supposed to be 17-18lb. He went from 20lb to 19lb. When we rescued him he was 14lbs. Companion Pet Hospital didnt make me feel like I was a horrible pet owner. They mealy put me in the right direction to correcting such a minor problem for our dog, The staff are amazing, they go above and beyond for their clientele. I've been taking my dog to Companion since I took him home from the shelter for everything from grooming to annual exams, to dental surgery. Every single experience from start to finish with Companion has been exceptional. Their staff is very helpful, compassionate and incredibly professional. Companion is also very reasonable in regard to cost/prices. I have recommended Companion to everyone I know who has a pet they love. I cannot say enough good things about them!
