Both they and their staff have cared for our furry family as if they were their own. Our relationship started when we adopted a lab from the SPCA and they botched her spaying procedure twice, leaving her with an infected gaping wound. Dr. Joo saved her life. He was also there as we bid her a heartbroken goodbye. They even sent us a sympathy card, a gesture they have sadly had to repeat. This year, Dr. Lee worked valiantly to help our beloved Huey, who inherited crippling arthritis and hip dysplasia from his lab and shepherd ancestors. She not only paid loving attention to him during visits, but spent much time with me on the phone. And she was honest when it came time to let him go, created the atmosphere to make it peaceful, so we could hold him and he would transition peacefully. Then she took time to comfort me. So I brought my cat there to be put down, there was a tech named Amanda that was there that was so sweet, so sympathetic, so loving and caring for animals and for the job she has, it has to be hard at times. You could tell how much love and compassion she had for her job. And so informative for only being a tech. We need more Amanda's in this world!! Read Less

My family has been taking our pets here for about three decades. The people here are excellent and always have been. They have been there for us for all the ups and downs of pet ownership and I deeply appreciate everything they have done for us. Dr. Joo picked an excellent successor to take over his practice. The thing I always appreciated most about Dr. Joo and I'm so glad to see in Dr. Lee now is the willingness to discuss and answer questions. I've been going to the Cottman Animal Hospital with my dogs for almost 10 years. The front desk staff is and always has been very accommodating and friendly. However, since Dr. Joo retired every appointment I've been to I've felt overcharged and pressured/manipulated into more expensive treatments than necessary. My dog was spade there in April and was returned to me with a burn on her side. I wasn't aware at first that it was indeed a burn until I returned to them two weeks later when the sore looked infected. I did get a second opinion from another vet who did confirm the it was a burn. They couldn't explain what happened during her surgery and gave me at no charge an X-ray, antibiotic and steroid with no follow up visit scheduled. I received a phone call from the office manager and they still took no responsibility for their negligence. Another thing that was very unprofessional and a MAJOR HIPPA violation is my pet's discharge papers had on the other side office notes with other people's demographic information on it and personal information on their pet! Dr. Joo is the most kind and caring veterinarian I have ever met. I have been taking my fur babies there for nearly twenty years. Parking kind of sucks but prices are very reasonable and staff is very accommodating. Dr. Joo has saved my Daisy's life twice and now performed a difficult surgery on my eighteen year old cat. The surgery was more extensive then first thought and he didn't charge me a penny more than quoted. He even waited out front holding my cat while I went to pull my car around because I was parked around the corner. Can't recommend him enough. Read Less

We found Cottman Animal Hospital and Dr. Lee in November when our regular vet said we needed an ultrasound for my 11y/o Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix after he accidentally ingested some staples. Dr. Lee did a wonderful job with the ultrasound and treating his vomiting and diahrea. This past week we'd been at an emergency vet out of town for some severe gastrointestinal symptoms. When we got back to town we went straight to Dr. Lee. It was the holidays and the practice wasn't accepting any walk in patients; however, Dr. Lee took us in without hesitation. Dr. Lee was able to locate a foreign body obstruction with another ultrasound and we were able to get surgery at another vet. To me. the most important thing is that Dr. Lee has followed my dog's case and wanted regular updates about his recovery, even though she wasn't the doctor to do his surgery. Dr. Joo has cared for 4 of our cats over these many years. The 3 who are no longer alive each lived to be more than 20 years old. We brought Mr. Kitty to see Dr. Joo this past summer - I was beside myself and ready to give up on him. After thorough examination he was put on a regimen that has changed him. I brought my dog in for a ruptured cyst on her back...everyone was very friendly, and I was in and out of there in under two hours with a bill under $200. Nice atmosphere, good staff, good medicine. I'll definitely go back if she has any other issues. Read Less

My cat had a urinary track infection and I took him here after taking him to the SPCA cause they couldnt help him they told me and the doctor checked him gave him his medicine taught me how to give him his medicine and my catvis doing very well now, Thank you so much I would definitly take all my animal here Read Less

Ive been bringing my dog to cottman animal hospital for about six years and they have done a decent job for a reasonable price A few weeks ago i took my dog for a checkup and confirmed several times that the checkup and vaccines cost eighty five dollars totalThe vet checked my dogs temperature listened to his heart and wiped out his ears and checked his eyes When i went to pay they charged thirty extra dollars. Fifteen for his ears and fifteen for his eyes. Apparantly the sixty seconds checking his temperature and the sixty seconds listening to his heart cost eighty five dollars and everything else cost extra. Caveat empor. Let the buyer beware They also heavily pushed a fifty eight dollar per month drop for dry eye and a twenty dollar a month ear drop I found a dry eye product at walmart for3.50 which works well I looked on line and found you can use a fifty one cents large bottle of hydrogen peroxide which is just as effective. I am very disappointed in my vet ripping me off. They know i have very little money and always confirm prices ahead of time. I dont know why they were so dishonest. The actual quality of the vetrinary care was satisfactory not terrific but reasonable. Please be sure to stress the prices numerous times so you dont get overcharged or ripped off I am very disappointed in their blatent dishonesty I am a single parent with three kids and the extra thirty dollars came out of our food budget. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE FOR EMERGENCY TREATMENT!!! Go directly to a 24hr animal hospital. I unfortunately took my 10yr old Doberman hear after she suffered 4 seizures. while they reacted to help my dog they where unequipped to handle this situation. They sedated and monitored my dog for 4hrs then called me to come pick her up telling me she was better and to give her 2 pills a day to suppress  the seizures.  When I went to get her she was still very disoriented barley walking drooling  excessively with high fever and as I tried to help out she lost her bladder which was full of blood right in front of Dr.. She then told me that it was probably from a bruised bladder. I took her home and within an hour her condition had worsened. I called Cottman was told the doctor was not there at 3pm I was called back approx. 30minutes later and was told to take her to Veterinary Specialty Emergency Clinic in Levittown on veterans highway.  Where she should have been sent immediately by the Dr. at Cottman.  Unfortunately she did not make it as she suffered a severe seizure and possible heat stroke on the way there from fever and can only think if I had taken here there first the outcome may have been different.  In hind sight the Dr. should have stabilized her and directed us immediately to the Emergency Clinic.I will forever live with these regrets and they should feel very guilty also. My girl runs in the clouds now. I hope to save someone else animal the pain and suffering my dog endured needlessly thanks to Cottman animal hospital  carelessness and there desire to relieve themselves of my dog instead of providing the care she needed. !!!! I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM A STAR BUT I HAVE TO IN ORDER TO POST THIS !!!  AND BY THEY WAY NOT A CALL TO HOW SHE WAS !!!!!! Read Less

Each time I came with my chubby kitty to see Dr. Joo, he looked so happy to se her, "Oh she's a very good cat!" he always compliments when examining her. Dr. Joo is very easy going and smiles a lot. Dr Joo is such a nice man. Thankfully I did not have to see him often at all since my 2 Siamese were always healthy. I met him back in the 90's when someone surrendered thier cat to be put to sleep and i heard about it and he still had the cat hoping to find a home instead. I took the cat and found him a furrever home and the people continued to use Dr Joo. I just rescued 2 kittens and will be using him from now on. Read Less

I loved this place! It's very small and close to home. I've been coming here since I took in my street cat over 8 years ago. The people are always friendly and very quick. Nice on the phone and easy, convenient scheduling. I've been there with both my cats and once they're treated, the problem is always gone. I'll be going this week again, I'm never disappointed! WOW!!!We were very impressed.  Our Rottweiler had a severe ear infection.  The receptionist said she could squeeze us in with an emergency visit the very next morning.The doctor and staff spent over an hour working with her and while it was very stressful, they made sure to continually check on her stress level and were patient enough to give her a break every now and again.  The concern shown for our "little" girl was really wonderful.The bill was VERY reasonable for the work that was performed.  We will be going back with the rest of our canine family - we have 5 aging dogs and now have a lot of confidence in Cottman Animal Hospital. As with all pet owners, I consider my Pit Bull my child and expect the very best medical attention for him.  Dr Joo has consistently provided superior care.  His office staff is always polite and attentive.     You might be confused, Theresa.  The office is not a 24 hr service provider, hence, when there is no one in the office and the phone continues to ring, that is the message, "We are not available now."     For regular medical veterinary care, I recommend Cottman Animal Hospital without reservation.     For emergency care, see one of the area 24 hour hospitals,e.g., U of P or Ben Salem. I took my dog of 13 years to see Dr. Joo after reading many wonderful online reviews. I know now these reviews must be complete fabrications.  I was astonished at the immense general lack of competence at the Cottman Animal Hospital.  They did not spend any time with me to discuss my dog's condition so I asked several times of my own volition what I needed to know, what the costs would be and what was wrong with her.  They gave me the wrong prices, Rimadyl for arthritis, which made her sick, and a gum smacking clueless receptionist whom discussed my pets options unclearly while tossing around the vial full of her blood, as if it were a toy.  Most of the time when I called no one answered and there was no voicemail pick-up.  On one occasion  I did get someone at 4:55 pm, yes 5 minutes before closing time (note:I had been calling since 4).  I was greeted with "make it quick we close in 5 minutes".  The reason I called was because I, myself had found a very large hard growth on the inside of her leg which I guess the vet missed upon his examination which I paid him to do......too busy to be thorough, polite, give an appropriate quote for services, or even the correct diagnosis. I am now taking her to Compassion Veterinarian Clinc on State Rd. and the difference is vast.  Dr. Murarka is intelligent, compassionate and willing to discuss options. I'd really like to know this ........who writes all of the many wonderful online reviews bout the Cottman Animal Hospital? the office help?  or are they contracted out? Read Less
