Took my 2 month old pitbull mix puppy here for all of his first shots and vaccines. Everything in this review took place between March 24, 2016 and my last visit ever on May 17, 2016. On my first visit, the vet gave me a million brochures. It was weird and impersonal but I figured I'd just read them later. Carried my pup home only to get a call that I had to bring him back in immediately because the veterinarian (not his assistant) weighed him using kilograms instead of pounds. This meant that they'd given me the wrong dosage of flea/tick medication. I returned the old unopened meds and they gave me the new meds but made sure to charge me the extra $3.50 difference between the two. I'm not cheap, but they inconvenienced me and having them squeeze that extra little bit of cash out of me felt petty. On my 3rd visit, my teething puppy was being mouthy as teething puppies tend to be. The vet put a soft muzzle on him, then lectured me about how aggressive and out of control my lil guy is and then told me I'd need to take him to this animal behaviorist, Ron Williams, in NJ. The vet told me this guy used to be a cop (because that apparently translates to good dog trainer... Not) and that he'd put my puppy through intense training so he doesn't grow up to be an aggressive adult dog.I went home feeling like my pup must be some sort of evil demon spawn despite his being mostly sweet to me (excepting a few puppy bites, obviously), and sweet to every person and dog he meets. Then, I googled the name and number that the vet had given me and saw that the place had closed years ago. A click or two later and I find an article about how the man had been convicted of 5 counts of dog abuse in 2012! I won't go in to detail but he was a monster to those poor dogs. Here's the article: thedogpress.com/Columns/…The vet wanted me to put my dog in the care of a convicted dog abuser. Not only that, but he also hadn't checked up on a person he refers his patients to in at least 4 years! I reluctantly took my dog there one last time after that to complete his first years shots because I read that fairmount animal hospital is sketchy about sending records to other veterinary hospitals/clinics and I wanted to make sure my pup got all of the necessary shots for his first year.Just took my lil one to be neutered at Girard Veterinary Clinic today where the facilities are nicer, and during the initial physical, the veterinarian I had was kinder and more knowledgeable. Also, I compared my invoice from Fairmount Animal Hospital to Girard's handy chalkboard of pricing and every shot was $5-$10 cheaper. I wish I'd done my research.P.S. The blonde veterinary assistant at Fairmount Animal Clinic is a sweetheart. She was the only good thing about that place. I can tell that she truly loves and cares about animals. Read Less
