Terrible. Doctor was rude, kept interrupting me and then abruptly walked out of the room saying she was "frustrated." I was frustrated! She doesnt listen when you try to share information and didn't even look at my dog. I left shortly after she did and you can believe I will never go back or reccomend this place to anyone. She might have a University of Pa background but her manner is straight out of Community College. Awful experience. I went to Dr Bree down the street and we are working together to figure out the cause of my dogs infection. They were receptive, thoughtful and caring. I can't say the same for Noah's Ark. Read Less

This place is HORRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE FOR ANY TYPE OF SURGERY. I took my 3 dogs and cat to this hospital for dental cleaning and surgery. As my pets are 13, 14, 15 & 16 I knew there would be extractions. I first took them all in for a visit and asked why, since there were 4 of them they needed to come in for 2 visits. I was told due to their age they would be put on antibiotics prior to surgery in case of gum disease. Just a quick discussion, no physical exam, nothing! That cost a whopping $330.00 !  That Saturday I took them in , where they were shuffled thru the long hallway. When I returned about 4 hours later, one by one they were passed out to me without any explanation of their care. With 4 animals common sense would be to put me in an exam room for a review of what was done to each pet, but No. The first thing they did was ask for payment of $770.00. As each pet was passed out into the waiting room, still wearing their doggie sweaters (tells me they were never removed), and very groggy I asked about infections and extractions. In between the receptionist answering phone calls I was told by her "CHECK YOUR RECEIPT' that will tell you how many teeth were pulled. When asking about any abscesses , again the receptionist, not the nurse, not the doctor, "CHECK YOUR RECEIPT". I was so livid the doctor finally came out and guess what she did, she CHECKED THE RECEIPT to tell me what she did. The oldest 11 lb dog had 8 teeth removed and was not given any antibiotics , nor any pain meds. I called the office and was told by the doctor to  give her baby aspirin. What does aspirin do? It thins out blood and causes excess bleeding in the gums! I spent the next 6 hours calling around to find a doctor that would prescribe something for her w/o having to travel into their office. The vet referral on the office voicemail sends you to a vet that is not open on the weekend and the other clinic asked me what antibiotic and pain med I was sent home with for a 16 yr old dog with 8 extractions. They were in shock!  Finally I had a friend that gave me Tramadol which I promptly gave her and she slept thru the night but still had 3 more pets to watch. The cat, 14 yrs old was not too great either. I asked for blood to be taken and tested because he has lost 7 lbs over the last year. Guess what, was never advised that was done, then after several days I had to call to get results that he has pancreatitis. Now after all of this and $1100.00 later I asked for copies of all the records. I was told they were mailed out , 3 weeks ago. Still no records in the mail. I called today and was told they sent the originals, NOT COPIES. So now they are lost , there are no records, there are no blood test records for a vet visit to a new doctor. Infuriated, I asked why would that rude receptionist send originals.....she hung up on me. Called back and asked again, she hung up on me. I give up. Now I paid for my cat's blood test and have to do it again because the receptionist, who is really only skilled in taking payment, sent out the originals and I have nothing but a sick cat. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET. I should have known when the doctor walked into the exam room and did not introduce herself so I didn't even know she was conducting an exam as she never touched any of my animals. No ear, eye, gut , hip or arm check. Nothing.....stay away. The office does not have a computer, the office is old and dirty , no ventilation and such a rude receptionist! You can check the Better Business Bureau website and see what happens with the complaint I will lodge against them. Drive the extra distance to stay away from these unprofessional people!!T. I read the reviews before I made our appointment. My almost 2 year old pure bred English Mastiff was limping on her hind leg and my vet was on vacation. I made my appointment with the not so friendly receptionist. Arrived 10 minutes before my appointment in case I needed to fill out paperwork. I was shown into the exam room where I only waited a short time before the vet entered. My dog was laying down when the vet came into the room which cause my dog to bark and become... more anxious than she already was. The vet focused on my dogs anxiety instead of her injury which annoyed me. The vet NEVER touched my dog, NEVER touched her leg, NEVER saw her walk- NOTHING. I was told that it might be a torn ACL- might being the key word. My dog is obviously in pain and was anxious about a new place.... NO pain meds were given, no X-rays done, no exam..... I was given 146.00 worth of suppliments for an injury that may or may not be the issue. My dog has lost over 20 pounds in a week because she doesn't want to eat so she doesn't have to go potty! I was told to come back in a week to get her weighed. WHAT A QUACK!!!! I will never go back and urge everyone who reads this review to really think twice. I have since taken her to Knightswood Animal Hospital and can honestly say that I am considering making them my permanent vet!!! Call around people! Ask questions!! If the person answering the phone sounds like you are bothering them- that is NOT the place to take your pet! This is certainly a two thumbs down- I'm just thankful that my dog didn't have a life threatening injury- otherwise I would have had to gotten a lawyer!!!! STAY AWAY! See More Read Less

Low prices and affordable. I brought my cat in because she had blood in her stool and I was concerned she may have worms. The vet did a short examination and deemed her fine. The vet told me, "She is just stressed. Try giving her some milk." Now a month later my cat has gotten worse. Upon taking her to another vet, she was diagnosed with a parasite and given medication. I feel as thought Noah's Ark barely gave my cat any sort of exam and basically charged me $50 just to tell me to give my cat milk. Last time I checked, milk is bad for cats. With that being said, I have had my pets spayed there and I had no problems and it was affordable, but when I came there for a problem visit I felt ripped off. I personally will not be going there again and I absolutely will not be recommending them to my friends or family. Read Less

I've been going to Noah's Ark Animal Hospital for a couple of years now, with several different animals, and the staff just continues to impress me. They are compassionate animal lovers, who are honest; and appear to try to keep their fees reasonable. I also appreciate the Dr.'s real philosophy toward animal diet and nutrition, which is the exact opposite from what you'll hear at a typical pet store. She encourages giving fresh raw or cooked meats and vegetables to your animals, say, as leftovers from your kitchen table; as opposed to commercial pet foods, which contain all sorts of byproducts and preservatives, and sit on store shelves for weeks or months at a time. Ok, so I am normally not the one to make these type of comments but I just want to let everyone know DO NOT ever go to Noah's Ark Animal Hospital in the NE on Frankford Ave. I went to this vet for quite a few years and never had any problems. I referred people to them and know others as well as myself who have pets who have had procedures done here with no problems. I stopped going here a couple of years ago when they treated my cat who had lymphoma and it was back and forth and they had no clue what was wrong with her after surgery, blood work, diff meds and tests. I had a second opinion at university of penn and she had lymphoma....her whole insides was covered in tumors and this lady couldn't find any when she did surgery. So after that I switched vets. My new vet wanted way too much money to have my two dogs fixed so I figured I would just go to Noah's Ark...spaying and neutering a dog is a pretty routine surgery that most pets have at some point, no big deal. On Sat I dropped of my 2 dogs in the morning and picked them up at 1pm and took them home...at 2pm my puppy started bleeding out on my sofa, sitting in a puddle of blood. My husband rushed him back to Noahs thinking he might have busted his stitches, they told him to come back at 3 for him. I went back at 3pm to get him and the vet came out and told me she was having a hard time, his stitches didn't break, she didn't know where the bleeding was coming from. She said they put him under and seen something bleeding and sutured it and when he started to wake up he started bleeding again so she sedated him a 3rd time and opened him up and couldn't find where he was bleeding from so she wrapped his back side up and was trying to warm him up. My dog was laying on the table almost lifeless and they are telling me they don't know why he's bleeding and then her assistant goes on to ask me if I was worried before I dropped him off and I said yea a little, she then tells me that me worrying and all that bad energy can make bad things happen and basically is blaming my "bad energy" because they don't know what they were doing. So basically they had me take him home and if he were to bleed through the bandage take him to the 24hr er vet. They even told me the vet wanted to give him a blood transfusion from her dog but her dog was sick so they couldn't which I think was weird they would even do that even if he wasn't sick. So I took my dog home and I go to let my other dog out who I had spayed and pick her up and she had blood come out of her incision wound dripping all down my side. I called the 24 hour vet and they said that neither of their symptoms are normal. I took my puppy who was neutered to the emergency vet and they did blood work and it was all normal so my dog wasn't the problem(clotting disorders, etc) They took his bandage off and said that the sutures possibly weren't tight enough and one slipped and basically said it was the vets fault. I was told to watch my other dog who was spayed and make sure she didn't swell anymore or bleed. These surgeries should have been a lot different and this lady is a butcher and if you care about your pets you will never use this woman as your vet!!! My dog almost bled to death and I am very lucky he is getting better, he still isn't out of the woods yet but he is improving as is my other pup, but someone else may not be so lucky!!!!! Just as an update because this review was right after the surgeries. My female who was bleeding from her spay incision had to have a large hernia repair. I went to vca Knights wood who is my normal vet and paid 1k for her to fix what this lady did to my poor dog. She basically was only being held closed by her skin and lucky her whole insides didn't fall out. This woman is a butcher! Read Less

Keep your animals away from these butchers. These monsters caused my dog to lose two of his toes. We took our dog here for a nail trimming and because the tech was in a hurry she clipped his nail to short. So they put a bandage on him which they charged us for. So we went back to the vet a few days later for the bandage to be removed and they cut his whole paw. Make a long story short we kept taking him back and his paw got infected and all the vet told us was to put ointment on it and it did nothing. So we took him to Dutton animal hospital and we found out his two toes were dead so they had to amputate. If you value your pet keep them as far away as possible. My family and I met a woman at the new vet and she told us her dog had kidney failure they improperly diagnosed and the dog passed. The sad part is this woman took her dog to a new vet for a second opinion but it was too late. If I could give this place negatives stars I would our lives have been severely inconvenienced by these individuals.Read Less

This is the absolute worst vet to take an animal keep your pets far away from this monsters. I took my dog here recently to get his nails trimmed and because one of the vet techs wanted to leave early she grabbed him and cut too low and made him bleed. So they wrapped his paw not to mention they charged us for the wrapping and told us to come back later on. Well we bring our dog back a few days later to get the bandage removed and the other tech rips it off an leaves an open wound on his paw. So after a few days of it not healing we bring him back and they say he will be ok put ointment on there so we did and it did nothing. His paw got infected from their horrible treatment and so we took him to another vet. The next vet told us his small toe had to be amputated so they removed that toe. Then he lost his padding on his paw and continued to lose his middle toe. This vet is a nightmare we have family who also received horrible service. We also meet a woman at our new vet who claim this place cost her a dog before. She proceeded to explain that she went to the Dr. because her dog was sick and she was told her dog was just old. So this woman got a second opinion and it was revealed that her dog had kidney failure and after a multitude of procedures her dog gave in and passed. This lady wanted to know as did I why is it that the vet didn't know it was kidney failure? All the signs were there. This vet also picked up a friend of mines cat by the neck one time. The stories are endless with these monsters we should have kept our dog far away from them. Please do the same keep your pet safe. Read Less

Most amazing & caring vet I have ever been to. She came in on Christmas Eve work on my dog who was attacked by another dog on the throat. My mom only had $100 & she didn't even care, she did what she had to do and let her make payments whenever she could. Then my puppy got parvo, we had a see him & I was charged $55 for the visit & told testing would cost around $1,900 before they could figure out what he had. My old boss at pet spa called noahs ark the next day and the doctor said to bring him in right away, I had only $10 & she looked at him for 2 minutes, gave me a bottle of medication & only charged the $10 for all of it, didn't even charge for the visit. My puppy was back to his normal self in a week, she saved his life & she didn't care that I had basically no money. I also found 2 stray kittens and brought them to her because I knew she would find them great homes, lo and behold I had my cat in there a couple of weeks later for a check up and a lady came in with both the kittens in her arms for their shots. Amazing vet & she cares about the animals, not money. She will do anything in her power to help you with money being the last thing on her mind The only place I will EVER recommend to anyone!!!! OK, I'll start with how long I have known Dr. Ronis I was in my early twenties when I started using her as my vet at World Wide Aquarium and pets which was probably close to thirty years ago. As I write this I am crying because I am in Northeast Pennsylvania where I moved and I cannot find a decent vet who doesn't want to rip you off financially and who are clueless as to what is wrong with your beloved pet. It's Monday and her office is closed and I have a poodle who is aging rapidly and the vets won't give me an appt. until the end of October they behave as though pets are humans which is a load of crap. Legally your pet is personal property the law views them as a sofa or chair. Except in cases of neglect, abuse or where you are profiting from them with animal fighting. I want to come home to Mayfair where people are normal and decent. I want my vet back. I don't know who wrote these reviews but I know the girls in her office and I know Dr. Ronis and whoever is writing these reviews are obviously vengeful and nasty in the day and age of social media. Why I don't know. This is a vet where she takes care of your animal not where you go to have pumpkin spice lattes and gossip. If you want great care for your animal and reasonable prices this is the place. I am a complete difficult consumer and if you can please me anyone should be joyed with Noah's Ark Animal Hospital. I will be driving 2-1/2 hours to come back to her for the animals I now have who these people discard like garbage in this county. So, I chose to take in a litter of kittens because they would have been horrifically abused up here in PA. Read Less

This Place is HORRIBLE! I wish I could give it negative stars.  This is by far the worst place of buisness that i have ever been too and I beg you to stay away if you love your pet.  We brough our dog for a behavioral evaluation (he had heard the this establishment encouraged homeopatic healing) .  Upon arrival we waited for 1 1/2 hrs while the vet/ "butcher" attended to a bleedding out dog who had just had surgery, was released home and the owner came in emergently.  When we did finally get to speak to the vet who by the way did not come anywhere near our dog she notified us that they refer behavior problems to penn.  She then told us she would not treat him Holistically because he should be put down.  WHAT?!?  Then she had the guts to charge us $45 for a consult for a total of 5 minutes of time.  The vet was not kempt looking which was no surprise becuse I was appalled byt the condition of this establishment.  The facility was filthy. There was a unsecured sharps container int he room and blood vials in the hallway.  I am taking this to the hightest level possible and now will no longer be satisfied with a refund (which they refuse to give us) i want this place shut down.  It is appalling and unsafe! Read Less

I recently adopted a mixed breed from a rescue and heard good things about Noah's Ark so we decided to try it. First, I couldn't even find the place because there isn't even a proper sign. They have paper cut-outs on the window that say Noah's Ark. When I finally found it, (after 20 minutes of driving in circles) it seemed like a nice, neighborhood vet. I was the last customer to be seen since I was late because I couldn't find the place, but it went by pretty fast for how crowded it was. When my 9 week old puppy was taken into the room the nurse told me not to let her walk on the floor since they had just cut a big dogs nails and hadn't cleaned it up yet. The doctor came in and asked what we were there for and I said for her first check-up and shots. The doctor (an older woman) told me to put her on the floor then quickly told me to pick her back up when she noticed my puppy went right for the dirty nail clippings. I told the doctor my puppy had a cough and apparently she didn't hear me. During our visit, the nurse brought a cat into our room and the doctor and nurse treated the cat also. The doctor then gave my puppy a set of shots.....and asked me to hold my puppy instead of having the nurse properly hold the puppy still. Then the doctor was about to leave the room when I had to ask about treatment for my dogs cough. She said she would give her medicine. That was the extent of our visit. I kept trying to ask questions and the doctor seemed annoyed that I was keeping her for the few extra minutes. Needless to say, none of my questions were answered. I took my puppy back out to the front desk to pay and noticed there wasn't any medicine so I asked. The doctor "forgot" after I mentioned it several times. The nurse went to get the medicine and gave me a little envelope with pills inside. The envelope had handwritten "Cough tabs" on it. The appointment was cheap (about $60) but the quality was bad. I also had to ask when I needed to bring my puppy back and the lady at the desk told me "in about 3 weeks..just give us a call". I decided right then that I wouldn't be back. I took my puppy to World of Animals at Betharyes and the service we received there was great. The doctor actually took the time to look at my puppy and answer any questions. Noah's Ark is cheap but the quality is terrible...wouldn't be surprised if the business is some sort of scheme. They only accept cash and checks and everything is handwritten. If you're looking for a vet who actually cares, I'd stay far away from this place. Read Less

Not sure how this place has 4 stars. My cat has been very lethargic the past 2 days, barely eating and drinking, sleeping, and has very sunken eyes. I took him to Noah's because the reviews were decent. The actual office and waiting area is very dirty. I don't mean pet fur dirty, but it took a lot in my will power to not dust the little glass table and clean the dust bunny growing in the corners of the room. I looked past that and just remembered the reviews are good. The vet did not even weigh my cat, I don't think she took his temp, and basically blamed all his symptoms on the fact that he's FIV+. Now I know FIV can have those affects on a cat, however this is a middle aged cat that is full of energy and always super excited to see me come home. This does not change in one day unless something is wrong. I told the vet 3 times I think he has fleas until she finally checked and confirmed. Gave him immune support meds that I requested when I got there, however she did not make note of how much to give him. One thing she discovered was that he is dehydrated, so I googled dehydration symptoms and that is exactly what he is experiencing. When leaving I asked when the meds will start working or helping, or when I should come for a follow up visit, she said she'll see me in a year. So basically all his symptoms were blamed on the fact that he is FIV+, nothing else was considered, received meds with no instructions, and I should come back in a year if the blood work is fine. Great. I rather pay double and have some kind of answers or opinions than pay less and have to make another trip to the vet if the fluids do not work. Read Less

Cocoa is my student's classroom rabbit. I bought him when he was four months old. Needless to say, after time he "came of age". The students' bookbags and other personal belongings became his "girl friends". Realizing he would need to be fixed if I wanted him to remain a part of the classroom, I began calling around various vets in the Philly and Bucks County area. The prices ranged from $200 - $340. This DID NOT include an initial meeting which they all required. Obviously I went with Noah's Ark. Surgery went well, Cocoa's doing fine, the final cost was $70, TOTAL. :) His surgery was last year and he is still going strong.  I would definitely recommend Noah's Ark Animal Hospital. Read Less

Noah's  Ark is an honest, affordable place to get great care for your pet.  When I first went there, my dog was constantly biting himself to the point of bleeding.  Instead of prescribing an overpriced, unnecessary medication, they told me to just give him fish oil once a day.  I thought that it would never actually work.  Yet, the next day my dog was completely fine and no longer biting himself.  Later in the year, I took him for a teeth cleaning, and it was very affordable.  I would highly recommend this vet.  It may not look as state of the art as some of the VCA hospitals, but I think that they really do care about treating animals and won't go out of their way to get every penny out of their customers.  Thanks for the great service you do at Noah's Ark! Dr. Ronis was very efficient in her treatment of Maggie's condition, and after only 24 hours of being treated, her diarrhea cleared up, and she was back to her old self. I have been coming to this vet for over a decade for several cats. What I like is that the vet is honest and open to exploring the mental well being of the cat, not just physical. She will offer both prescription treatments, and homeopathic and allow you the option to choose. The only thing difficult about this place is their office hours. Staff is super understanding and friendly. After my feline companion of 12 years passed away, they were there to help me through that hard time and I was even able to adopt a new cat from them. The only thing I found a little disheartening is that the vet did not remember my new addition several months later when I brought her back for a check up. But really I can't blame her she does see a lot of animals. Read Less

My fiance had been bugging me for months about getting a dog, I tried to dissuade him given the size of our apartment and our having just moved in with brand new furniture, but he insisted now was the time. I hopped in craigslist in hopes that there might be a listing for a beagle needing a good home and found Noah's Ark which was looking to place two beagles of the same litter into new homes. We made the trip from center city to go visit with the puppies and were greeted by friendly staff who were excited to see that their temporary furry friends would be moving to a new home. We managed to coerce our neighbor into adopting the female dog so that we could get the male dog without splitting them up as they're siblings of the same litter.I can say that I was a little surprised that they didn't ask more questions about our ability to care for a pet, our living situation, how we planned on putting them on schedules, etc. I guess I thought that adoptions were more thorough. It made it easy on our part as I was raised with and helped train puppies back home, however was a little weary at how easy it would have been for someone dog-incompetent to just come in throw down some money and walk out with a dog.The puppies had already been given their first round of shots and we were invited back in two weeks to get their second round of shots on the house. We will be back again to have them updated on immunizations, but am thinking that we will be finding a vet closer to home in center city for them. Read Less

I am very grateful to have Noah's Ark animal hospital nearby and affordable. Dr. Ronis is intelligent in her care of animals. She doesn't do expensive and unnecessary interventions. She seems to understand that an animal is meant to live for a certain period of time and that no matter what we do we can't force one to live forever. I take my many animals there and feel that she listens to me carefully and asks questions so that she is fully informed before she makes a judgement concerning an animal's care. She doesn't overmedicate. She tries to use natural methods when possible. I love it that I can call and get an appointment within a few hours of requesting one. Noah's Ark came recommended to us by a co-worker of my boyfriend's. It was convenient for us because our kitten's former vet often put on us on hold for 20 minutes and then tried to schedule appointments entirely inconvenient for us. Noah's Ark was both convenient and affordable. On October 11th of this year we brought our kitten, Bruce, to Noah's Ark. Walking in, I felt a very loving atmosphere, especially with the two cats they have freely walking around in the waiting room. Bruce was seemingly in great health as we were told by our former vet at the Women's Humaine Society and was a very active kitten. Bruce was taken within minutes, scheduled to be nuetered. After leaving Noah's Ark in only a matter of a couple of hours, the doctor of Noah's Ark called me, ""We lost Bruce during the operation. I don't know what happened."" I was a mess! That kitten was my baby, my light, my life! Don't know what happened? She doesn't know what happened so I jumped to the conclusion that some fatal mistake was made! We went back to Noah's Ark. The doctor walked me back to her office. The entire time I'm closing my eyes screaming that I didn't want to see my kitten dead, at which she replies, ""Would you like to see him?"" I couldn't believe how incompassionate this doctor was! I replied, ""No, it's not like he can look back at me."" She said, ""No, he's gone."" She said it as if she were saying, ""See you tomorrow,"" all normal and calm. Where did this lady's compassion go? I trusted her with my kitten who was active and alive when I brought him to her and suddenly he was dead. I think I deserved more compassion than that. She told me the operation was completed successfully and when he started to come to his heart rate slowed down. While trying to revive him his heart completely stopped and he was gone. The explanation was there's a rare case that a cat has a bad reaction to the anesthesia and dies. Either way my kitten is gone and I will never go back to Noah's Ark. Read Less

I can't say enough nice things about Dr. Ronis and her caring staff of professionals. Dr. Ronis treats your pets like family. I recently had to make the tough choice of having my cat put to sleep. She and her staff were kind and compassionate to not only my cat but to my entire family. I only trust her with my cats health issues. The office closing for 2 days in a row does make it a little difficult if your animal is very sick. I did have to use another vet on a weekend and I found the care was nothing like I receive at Noah's Ark. I own a dance studio and whenever I have mentioned Noah's Ark I get so many of our costumers who all rave over her. I have never heard a negative comment about her, which I think these days is rare. You will always find someone with complaints. If you are looking for a caring, compassionate, professional vet with affordable prices you will find it at Noah's Ark.

Read Less

Thanks for the great service you do at Noah's Ark! i absolutelty love this vet, my dog coco ate something solid and we were told by other vets that the surgery to save her life would cost $1500-4500. everyone who we spoke with wanted the money up front, when we found out we were not eligable for any of the aid to help, we were simply told to put her down... how horrible!!! a friend mentioned noah's ark so i set up an appointment, not only did they fit us in asap, they gave me feeding directions until she was seen. when i got there, they realized right away that she deff did need surgery so they simply said she wont be going home tonight, we have to operate asap. not once did they mention that i needed the money up front, or i could apply for help.. their ONLY concern was coco. right now she is alive and recovering, she had her surgery a little under a week ago and she is doing excellent. we are now on a payment plan, and the surgery cost us under $1000. thank you sooo much to the awesome staff at noah's ark, without their compassion for animals, our baby would be dead. I was visiting my family in Philadelphia over the holidays with my dog Maggie. Maggie had been given too many treats from a family member that thought he was being nice. She became extremely sick and was defecating frank blood and was vomitng. I called Noah's Ark animal Hospital and was told to bring her right up. Dr. Ronis was very efficient in her treatment of Maggie's condition, and after only 24 hours of being treated, her diarrhea cleared up, and she was back to her old self. I am so grateful to Dr. Ronis, not only for taking me in as quickly as she did, but for her excellent care in treating my precious pets ailment. Although I was not a regular client, she treated us as though we had been one for years. I would reccommend her to anyone who loves their pet, and can't thank her enough for her caring and proffesional ethics.Martha McMonagle Read Less
