I've taken my boy here a few times over the past year and a half. We made the change from our previous vet in the burbs (who is wonderful) to somewhere in town, to be closer. My experiences so far have been pretty standard- except that I often have a nagging feeling of being rushed in and out, then being presented with a substantial bill. I recently brought my guy in with some stomach upset, which wasn't a big concern because it was due to food changes- but I needed some help with his symptoms. We had a wait of over an hour in an empty waiting room, which I was patient with because they had an emergency spring up. When we were seen, I was prepared to go over his new diet- which I put considerable research into-but was definitely brushed off. They did help relieve his symptoms and cleaned him up a bit, so I can't complain a whole lot- I just wish he'd been given more attention, especially after such a long wait.

This is an acceptable practice, but they are are now run by a Corporation. The vets are perfectly capable and caring, but they are hamstrung by the Corporate beurocracy that owns the practice.We had been at this practice for almost 20 years, but the practice was recently sold to "Big Med". They literally held up my cat's medical care for "company procedure" matters. The problems with getting my cat's prescriptions were caused by their own inability to manage accurate and timely communication about her doses with their own on-line prescription distribution.My cat was the victim of the corporate system.After this frustrating experience, we left the Cat Doctor to find Dr. Andeer's new practice.Dr. Megan Andeer, a renowned cat expert, used to be at the Cat Doctor, but she moved about 2 years ago -after the practice was sold to the new corporation - and she set up her own practice.If you want the most compassionate and common sense care for your feline friends, and are able to travel to South Philly, go to Dr. Andeer's City Cat Vets. (If you are in the Art Museum Area, your cat needs care, and you are unable to travel to South Philly, go to The Cat Doctor).

Wish I read the one negative post below!! she is right , they are all about the money. you will feel scammed. RUN AWAY find someone else...Take your cat somewhere that won't "recommend" a bunch of services to raise your bill. Took my cat for the first time because she spit up her food. Wanted to make sure she was ok , shes like my baby. Of course I'm going to let the doctor perform whatever treatment she suggests... I care that much! Doctor tells me she may have a urine infection so then she performs all these tests and shots. $620 later, nothing is wrong shes perfect! Go figure ! Ok I chalked that up and sent her today with my fiance for a rabies shot and the basic exam so she can go to the groomers. I was sure this time to specify on the phone exactly all I wanted and asked the price. They tell me $90, ok fine. Come out today with a $180 bill !!! Why ?? I asked for two services and they perform 4!! a parasite test a fecal test. My fiance assumed this was all apart of the basic exam no prices disclosed beforehand or nothing. Shen never said it was extra services!! ... I am not rich and I feel taken advantage of. Tell them what you want and do not let them recommend or talk you into all this other nonsense if thats not what you asked for. Horrible practice and shes so sweet and convincing that your cat needs it. She must assume everyone is well off... just horrible!!!

They saved my 13 year-old cat's life by diagnosing him with inflammatory bowel disease. Blink my cat gradually stopped eating. All the typical ailments were ruled out i.e. pancreatitis, UTI's etc. They were able to diagnose him by using ultrasound on him which I wouldn't have been able to get at most typical vets. I probably would have had to take him to Pennsylvania Vet Hospital or Emergency Clinic for an ultrasound which would have been more stress on the cat and inconvenient for me.

I camped out there ALL day and saw each of my kids intermittently when they were in recovery. I was so scared. Our Dr was AWESOME, keeping me updated constantly. Apple and Dakota are my fur children and I love them more then 90% of the people in my life. Thank you for the amazing care !Dakota needed 2 teeth extracted, Apple none.Dakota was crying when she ate..... now she is NOT crying. :) YAY!

My cat got really sick really fast and I was able to get in touch with the Cat Doctor and get scheduled for an in office visit. After seeing my cat not do so well and knowing she hated being outside, I decided to ask for a house call. The Pet Doctor came to the rescue! My cat was able to be examined and treated right in the comfort of her home. Her doctor was amazing, thorough and patient. I am extremely pleased with the Cat Doctor's service, attention, and sensitivity to special situations. Thank you!

I was pleased with the office and the staff's manner with my cat. He's a little older, 9 or 10 years, and when he was having some bladder issues, I didn't want to take him to a budget vet and risk upsetting him too much. He can be moody for days if he's handled the wrong way or stressed. The Cat Doctor's office and waiting area were calm and clean, and the doctor herself was very professional. Yes we paid $$$ for bloodwork and literally nothing was wrong with him we just needed to get an extra litter box and throw out a rug he was attached to, but our cat is a member of our family and old, so we didn't mind spending the money on lab work. For the years we have had him and he's been healthy, and to know he's not sick in any way, a few hundred bucks now was not a big deal. Our younger cat is a jerk and really social, loves everything, so he doesn't go to this nice cushy vet yet. For now he gets cheap vet care at Paws. He can handle that. For the more fussy felines, I trust The Cat Doctor.

Sure, it takes a trolley ride and a few blocks' walk there and back for my kitty Beaker and me to get to the office, but it is SO worth it. Every time I would bring Beaker to our previous vet, she was very nervous and skittish in the exam room even though the doctors had a good bedside manner with her. Fast-forward to Beaker becoming a patient at The Cat Doctor--she has never been as calm and well-behaved at the vet as she has been since I started bringing her here. It must be because they only work on cats! On our first visit, we saw Dr. Goin, who is very knowledgeable, compassionate, and gentle with her cat patients, and we had Shanna as our vet tech who declared Beaker her favorite patient! We returned after 3 months because Dr. Goin wanted to re-examine Beaker's teary left eye and Monique, the practice manager, assisted her, which just goes to show that all the staff are well-rounded and experienced! They go above and beyond to make sure that not only the cats, but cat parents are comfortable and taken care of the entire time they are in the office. Not to mention the front desk staff are very friendly, helpful, and efficient at reminding you when your cat is due for their next appointment! Never though I'd be looking forward to Beaker's next visit! 5 STARS (and then some) for The Cat Doctor!

The cat doctor is an amazing veterinarian. I called in advance and made an appointment within 24 hours and when I came in I was seen nearly immediately. And they were so good with Peep, my cat, keeping him calm and happy through the whole visit, including when getting a shot, which is impressive. They recommended and provided flea treatment and even showed us how to apply it. I can't recommend this vet enough!

After having an abysmal experience at VSEC, we went to The Cat Doctor and had a wonderful experience. These guys clearly are about the animals and less about making money, and I appreciated how well they handled my cat, and how well they helped us by explaining costs, etc. Front desk customer service staff were above and beyond friendly and helpful and there were even two cute cats to play with while waiting. Very nice practice!

Extremely responsive when my cats have been sick/in pain. Very nice team (front desk, techs, vets), as well.
A little pricey. But good about giving accurate estimates, which helps with financial planning. And I think worth it given the level of care we've received when the cats have been in distress.
Almost a completely different group of vets from when we first started with them about 6 years ago, but we have liked everyone we have seen in the current group.

You can tell that the vets at The Cat Doctor, as well as the techs and front desk staff, truly care about your animal, as well as those that they care for there in the facility. I feel so comfortable when my cat is in their hands and trust that they are always giving me the best advice and information that they can.
We saw Nathaniel for my Luna's last check up and he followed up with a personal email after our visit and gave me great advice on how to help my slightly overweight cat lose a few pounds so she can be as healthy as possible!

I love the Cat Doctor. They are so helpful and great with our terror of a cat (he's the friendliest cat to every single person, even cat hating people, but get him to the vet and he'll scratch every single thing under the sun). They helped us pick out the perfect food to get his mysterious allergies under control (why are cats so sensitive?), and his fur has recovered! Just like that! If you're a patient, they will allow you to call and ask questions, which is pretty cool. They started doing a "rewards card" type of thing which I thought was pretty nice of them. One star off for being real expensive, but I'll take it.

I had a great experience at the Cat Doctor, and I take both of my cats there now. The staff is very friendly, and quite informative. Each vet visit also has a vet tech present to help out with the appointment. The waiting room is huge, and very inviting. The appointments cost about what I expected a vet in the city to cost, and no one tried to up-sell me, or suggest any products or procedures that weren't necessary.

This vet is fantastic. They diagnosed my cat quickly and didn't try to sell me any long drawn out care for a terminal condition. She boards there frequently, the staff all knows her and is friendly with her and she is not stressed out by going there. The best vet I have ever had.

I asked for two services and they perform 4!! a parasite test a fecal test. My fiance assumed this was all apart of the basic exam no prices disclosed beforehand or nothing. Shen never said it was extra services!! ... I am not rich and I feel taken advantage of. Tell them what you want and do not let them recommend or talk you into all this other nonsense if thats not what you asked for. Horrible practice and shes so sweet and convincing that your cat needs it. She must assume everyone is well off... just horrible!!!

They saved my 13 year-old cat's life by diagnosing him with inflammatory bowel disease. Blink my cat gradually stopped eating. All the typical ailments were ruled out i.e. pancreatitis, UTI's etc. They were able to diagnose him by using ultrasound on him which I wouldn't have been able to get at most typical vets. I probably would have had to take him to Pennsylvania Vet Hospital or Emergency Clinic for an ultrasound which would have been more stress on the cat and inconvenient for me.

I was a nervous wreck regarding Apple and Dakota (12 years old/sisters/litter mates) having their teeth cleaned and the whole issue of anesthesia. I camped out there ALL day and saw each of my kids intermittently when they were in recovery. I was so scared. Our Dr was AWESOME, keeping me updated constantly. Apple and Dakota are my fur children and I love them more then 90% of the people in my life. Thank you for the amazing care !Dakota needed 2 teeth extracted, Apple none.Dakota was crying when she ate..... now she is NOT crying. :) YAY!

My cat got really sick really fast and I was able to get in touch with the Cat Doctor and get scheduled for an in office visit. After seeing my cat not do so well and knowing she hated being outside, I decided to ask for a house call. The Pet Doctor came to the rescue! My cat was able to be examined and treated right in the comfort of her home. Her doctor was amazing, thorough and patient. I am extremely pleased with the Cat Doctor's service, attention, and sensitivity to special situations. Thank you!

I was pleased with the office and the staff's manner with my cat. He's a little older, 9 or 10 years, and when he was having some bladder issues, I didn't want to take him to a budget vet and risk upsetting him too much. He can be moody for days if he's handled the wrong way or stressed. The Cat Doctor's office and waiting area were calm and clean, and the doctor herself was very professional. Yes we paid $$$ for bloodwork and literally nothing was wrong with him we just needed to get an extra litter box and throw out a rug he was attached to, but our cat is a member of our family and old, so we didn't mind spending the money on lab work. For the years we have had him and he's been healthy, and to know he's not sick in any way, a few hundred bucks now was not a big deal. Our younger cat is a jerk and really social, loves everything, so he doesn't go to this nice cushy vet yet. For now he gets cheap vet care at Paws. He can handle that. For the more fussy felines, I trust The Cat Doctor.

Sure, it takes a trolley ride and a few blocks' walk there and back for my kitty Beaker and me to get to the office, but it is SO worth it. Every time I would bring Beaker to our previous vet, she was very nervous and skittish in the exam room even though the doctors had a good bedside manner with her. Fast-forward to Beaker becoming a patient at The Cat Doctor--she has never been as calm and well-behaved at the vet as she has been since I started bringing her here. It must be because they only work on cats! On our first visit, we saw Dr. Goin, who is very knowledgeable, compassionate, and gentle with her cat patients, and we had Shanna as our vet tech who declared Beaker her favorite patient! We returned after 3 months because Dr. Goin wanted to re-examine Beaker's teary left eye and Monique, the practice manager, assisted her, which just goes to show that all the staff are well-rounded and experienced! They go above and beyond to make sure that not only the cats, but cat parents are comfortable and taken care of the entire time they are in the office. Not to mention the front desk staff are very friendly, helpful, and efficient at reminding you when your cat is due for their next appointment! Never though I'd be looking forward to Beaker's next visit! 5 STARS (and then some) for The Cat Doctor!

The cat doctor is an amazing veterinarian. I called in advance and made an appointment within 24 hours and when I came in I was seen nearly immediately. And they were so good with Peep, my cat, keeping him calm and happy through the whole visit, including when getting a shot, which is impressive. They recommended and provided flea treatment and even showed us how to apply it. I can't recommend this vet enough!

After having an abysmal experience at VSEC, we went to The Cat Doctor and had a wonderful experience. These guys clearly are about the animals and less about making money, and I appreciated how well they handled my cat, and how well they helped us by explaining costs, etc. Front desk customer service staff were above and beyond friendly and helpful and there were even two cute cats to play with while waiting. Very nice practice!

The Cat Doctor is a fantastic place - all staff are exceptionally nice and truly care about the health of each cat that comes through. I always feel as though each of my concerns is listened to at every visit. The doctors are very knowledgeable and know exactly how to handle the two cats I bring in. Although vet visits are stressful, I am relieved knowing that we are in good hands at The Cat Doctor!

Extremely responsive when my cats have been sick/in pain. Very nice team (front desk, techs, vets), as well.
A little pricey. But good about giving accurate estimates, which helps with financial planning. And I think worth it given the level of care we've received when the cats have been in distress.
Almost a completely different group of vets from when we first started with them about 6 years ago, but we have liked everyone we have seen in the current group.

You can tell that the vets at The Cat Doctor, as well as the techs and front desk staff, truly care about your animal, as well as those that they care for there in the facility. I feel so comfortable when my cat is in their hands and trust that they are always giving me the best advice and information that they can.
We saw Nathaniel for my Luna's last check up and he followed up with a personal email after our visit and gave me great advice on how to help my slightly overweight cat lose a few pounds so she can be as healthy as possible!

I love the Cat Doctor. They are so helpful and great with our terror of a cat (he's the friendliest cat to every single person, even cat hating people, but get him to the vet and he'll scratch every single thing under the sun). They helped us pick out the perfect food to get his mysterious allergies under control (why are cats so sensitive?), and his fur has recovered! Just like that! If you're a patient, they will allow you to call and ask questions, which is pretty cool. They started doing a "rewards card" type of thing which I thought was pretty nice of them. One star off for being real expensive, but I'll take it.

I had a great experience at the Cat Doctor, and I take both of my cats there now. The staff is very friendly, and quite informative. Each vet visit also has a vet tech present to help out with the appointment. The waiting room is huge, and very inviting. The appointments cost about what I expected a vet in the city to cost, and no one tried to up-sell me, or suggest any products or procedures that weren't necessary.

This vet is fantastic. They diagnosed my cat quickly and didn't try to sell me any long drawn out care for a terminal condition. She boards there frequently, the staff all knows her and is friendly with her and she is not stressed out by going there. The best vet I have ever had.
