I just started bringing my cat, Whiskey, here. My poor cat. First off, I got him from a girl who never took him to the vet--she was always too broke. Secondly, I inherited him as overweight. No idea what that girl was feeding him..I keep him to a diet of Purina Cat Naturals and 1 can of Sheba a day.Possibly because of his obesity, and possibly because he had a rough, stressful day last week (the fire alarm in my apartment building went off, and I had to grab him from under the couch and run out the door to save him from what I thought was a fiery death), he developed some bowel problems last week.I was unfortunately somewhat broke at this time, but my guy recommended Care Credit. I applied for Care Credit, got a line of credit, and off to the vet they recommended, we went. It was great that even though I called them on a Saturday and they were really busy, they told me to come right in. Now, it's really hard to get my fat cat into a carrier. He will hold on to you for dear life, just to avoid getting in one.I felt desperate times call for desperate measures, so I plopped him down on the passenger seat and prayed he wouldn't freak out and wander around in my car, causing an accident. Fortunately, he was well behaved, though shaking and nervous the whole time..but then again, so was I!When I got to the hospital, we had to wait outside for a little bit because the techs were so busy. Finally, a very nice tech came out bringing a carrier, and we managed to get him in it. I liked the way the waiting area was separated..dogs in the front, cats in the rear lolEveryone was frantic but still very nice. They got his information and we didn't have to wait TOO long before the vet was able to see him. The vet was extremely nice and helpful. They kept commenting on how well-behaved my cat was...I think he was just scared beyond belief, but they were very nice and reassuring to him. They checked him out, gave him an antibiotic, performed a really disgusting procedure on him but one he needed..getting his anal glands "expressed" (I really hope I never have to do it to him)...and gave me meds, all for a VERY reasonable price. I had reverse sticker shock when I checked out..I was expecting a $200-300 bill, and it was much less.I ended up having to bring him back, and they didn't even charge me!He's doing great now, after I followed the vet's recommendation to feed him baby food for a while and see how he does. I will definitely make this Whiskey's regular vet from now on.(I forgot to mention when I originally wrote this, that I really appreciated the way they called to check up on him, after our visits!)
