I'm stunned at the negative comments, though most sound like serial, professional complainers that troll the web for opportunities to whine.  We've been w/Dr. Schreiber from the start.  We got our cat from him--a stray he'd taken in back when he was starting out.  He's an ardent supporter of under-served animals, sponsoring wolf/wolf-dog and greyhound care initiatives, and has always been focused on his patients' as people.  He even was willing to neuter one of the gerbils my daughter brought home from school one summer ... talk about micro-surgery, patience and an open mind.  Our current pet is a twice rescued dog that ended up in the puppy ER for a week before we could even introduce her to Dr. S.  He picked up her care following release from the hospital, coordinating a close handoff of continued care with the hospital ER team.  Valley Vet IS our family veterinarian team and we're looking forward to taking our pets to their new soon-to-be-opened state of the art location. Dr Overhiser is the most compassionate veterinarian I've ever known. I'd never been to Valley Veterinary Hospital, yet when I called to ask if they would see me because my little three-year-old cat, Tip, lost the use of his back legs, they told me to come right over. Tip suffered an embolism that cut off the circulation to his legs and the prognosis was horrible. We realized that euthanasia was the only option. Dr Overhiser, and the entire staff, demonstrated such concern and compassion for Tip--and for me, and I received a heartfelt note the nextfrom Dr Overhiser. I'll never forget her loving care. We recently had to make the difficult decision to put our cat to rest. I called and they immediately allowed us to come in without any hesitation. Dr "O" handled both Tiger and me with the utmost compassion. She took the time to clearly explain his diagnosis so that I could be sure and comfortable with my difficult decision. I've been going to Valley Vet for quite sometime but have become dissatisfied. A pet owner should never feel pressured or guilted into services, tests and/or procedures that may or may not be necessary just to make a few more bucks. I'm starting to think the main goal is to make as much money as possible instead of providing fair and affordable care for my beloved pets. I'm just going to take all my pets to PennVet in Philly from now on. I've only taken my pets there for specialty care in the past but I've come to realize they are not much more expensive then general vets and they figure out what the issue is in 1-2 visits as opposed to several which ends up costing twice as much in the long run. They are also very professional and discuss costs up front and without any guilt or high pressure sales tactics. I've never left PennVet feeling like a bad pet owner like I have at Valley Vet. I just switched here when my 10 year old cat started losing weight and we weren’t getting any answers ... from the first appointment with Dr. Schreiber, he was able to help us so much and give us more answers than we had received at our old vet. Last night we rushed to the vet when my cat started acting lethargic and Dr. Schreiber and Amy sat with us and tended to Georgie while comforting me... they never once tried to rush us out and Dr. Schreiber told us to bring Georgie ho...me and watch him overnight rather than keep him overnight there or bring him to an emergency vet - he truly was looking out for our best interest rather than trying to make a quick buck. Tonight, he called 40 minutes past the time they closed to go over biopsy results with us and he explained everything so well. I am so happy that we switched here. Took my dog here from the time she was a puppy. Everything was fine as long as she was healthy but when she got Lyme disease when she was 10, they misdiagnosed her. Spent hundreds of dollars on tests and xrays. Didn't test for Lyme until a year and a half later. By that time she had permanent damage to her legs and couldn't walk well or go up and down steps. When I asked why they hadn't checked for Lyme before  their response was "We only check every two years at the regular check up". Not an excuse. Needless to say I changed vets. Read Less

Took a cat to be shaved due to clumps and they did not shave it and instead charged us for blood work and exams worth 400 dollars. Absurd bc they refused to shave the cat until they do all these tests, however, just a year ago they shaved the same cat without any of these tests. The worst part is I payed 75 dollars for a comprehensive exam as part of that bill and they gave me my cat back with 3 ingrown nails!!!! If I did not inspect the cat, I would not even know. After that we called and requested they cancel all the blood work as my cat is going elsewhere for a true comprehensive exam where they at least will check the animal and do not release home with ingrown nails and pretend to do a comprehensive exam. I LOVE Valley Vet! They are always there for our pets and us too! We are proud to be Dr. Shreiber's 7th customer!!! Last night he took our puppy in on emergency, calmed me down (not an easy feat) and had Summit all day today! Summit is looking better since he ate half the rug, part of the molding on the wall, an arm off of a chair and.....somehow got a hold of several Advil! We are still waiting for the "end" results - pun intended. It was wonderful to get this picture mid day and be able to call in and talk to someone at any given moment. They "GET" it there! Growing up, my family ONLY went to Valley Vet. When I lived in the area as an adult, I did the same. Now I live on the other side of the country, and while my new vet is great, I wish I could have brought Dr. Shreiber with me! We have had such a great experience with Valley Veterinary Hospital. When our cat had a fever, Dr Watson was knowledgeable and and caring - she laid out a couple of courses of action we could take and answered all the questions we had. The techs were very patient in getting our cranky cat through all the procedures she needed, and explaining how to give her medications at home. I cannot be more please with my baby Coco's experience here this morning! We recently move here, so it was Coco's first visit. We had no appointment, yet they took Coco back right away due to a leg injury. Dr. Grove, the techs, and the front desk staff were all extremely nice and took great care of her. Luckily it was a minor injury. Also, I thought I would have to pay a lot as an emergency walk in, but even their prices were extremely affordable! He is intelligent, patient, friendly, caring and extremely compassionate towards animals and their owners; I would tolerate nothing less when it comes to our furry and feathered babies. Started when we lived in Phoenixville and even though we moved out of the area and it's a little longer ride, we love this place too much to go anywhere else. I personally do not have a fur baby that I have taken here. However, yesterday I found a lost dog and took him there for help. And help is exactly what I got. They went above and beyond in helping find the owners and held him there until the dogs owners came and got them. Seeing how sweet and loving they were, when I get fur babies is my own. Was there with my sister. She can't carry her 10lb cat nor does she drive much anymore, She loves the new young doctor, Dr Grove, She despises Dr Schrieber, She doesn't like his shall we say table side manner. He seems to enjoy talking down to people and belittling them at any chance he can. Friendly doesn't fit his demeanor. He seems to be a very, very, very good VMD but his demeanor is questionable. I recently came home from work to find my mini Dachshund unable to stand and support himself with his hind legs. Valley veterinary hospital was able to see us in an hour and quickly diagnose a herniated disc. With medication and crate rest my little guy seems to be on the mend. I had to put my 17-year-old cat Tiger down last week and everyone in the office where just amazing. From the receptionist to the Vet Tech's and the doctor were just so kind and caring and helped us get through such a difficult time. I picked up Tigers ashes today. They took excellent care of my sweet Lab in the last two years of her (almost 16 year) life, and were there with compassion when she reached the end. I had my Rhodesian Ridgeback Jema spayed here at Valley Vet and Dr. Shreiber did the procedure.  The day before the procedure I had spoken to one of his associates that I did not want Jema to receive any vaccinations while under they're care.  The other Vet agreed to not vaccinate Jema.  She had marked it in her chart.The next day she was spayed and when one of the Vet Techs had called me to let me know that the surgery went well and we went ahead and gave her the Distemper Vaccine.  My husband stopped in that evening to find out why Dr.  Shreiber had administered the vaccine.  All he was told was that the Vet would be in touch with him the following morning.  When I went to pick Jema up from being spayed, they apologized and did not charge me for the vaccination.  I would highly suggest to not take any of your animals to this Vet!!! Even if she was due for the Distemper Vaccine Dr.  Schreiber or one of his staff should have notified me first regarding Jema receiving the Distemper Vaccine.  They never did call my husband when they said they would either! I don't normally write these reviews, but was surprised to see the two negative reviews. Dr. Schreiber worked very hard with us when both our cats got quite sick. Valley provided an excellent level of care. He even did research on his own time to find causes of the illness and food recalls since it was such a rare occurrence. He was very compassionate, and even sent a tech in after hours to accommodate us.The wait can be frustrating; we now call to check if they are on time, but it usually because they had an emergency that threw their schedule off. We haven't had an issue since. It would be nice to receive a text if they were behind by more than 30 minutes. However, if my dogs or cats had an emergency, I know I can get to the front of the line here. Read Less

We have been clients here for 20 years and won't take our babies anywhere else. Dr. Shreiber and his staff truly care about their patients and their families. I have received calls from Dr. Shreiber to check up on my pets on Sundays and after hours more times than I can remember. Over the years, Dr. Shreiber has helped me with sick strays that have landed in my lap, neighborhood animals whose owners are unable to take care of them the way they need to be cared for, and through major surgeries, cancers, and illnesses in my own pets. Arrived 5 minutes early for 9 am appointment and was out by 9:10, including complimentary nail clipping. ALL staff friendly to my dog and me. My dogs are always taken very good care of by Dr. Shreiber and his staff. Our lab mix just had her teeth cleaned and her mouth came back sparkling clean! She spent the whole day there. I was updated on her progress and everything went smoothly. We have been going to Valley Vet for about 4 years. I can't say enough about the care my Duncan (Cairn Terrier) received at Valley Vet recently. He had inadvertently ingested a chicken bone and was choking on it. They treated him quickly, staying after hours, and showed such concern for his well being and mine. They kept me informed step by step which I really appreciated and which helped relieve my panic over what had happened. It was quite an ordeal which they handled professionally but with the extra care I feel they would have given if Duncan had belonged to them. Valley Vet has been our vet for more than a decade since our first cat found us.  We now have four rescue cats and our latest has a chronic nasal allergy.  Drs. Shreiber and Seelaus are extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate.  They usually recommend the least invasive course of action first to spare our cats the ordeal and us the expense.Their treatment fees are not inexpensive, but they are always available when you need them, with both Saturday and evening hours.  Their first concern is for the welfare of the animal and appointments are never rushed.  So, yes, you may have a bit of a wait, but you will not be hurried when it is your turn.They rescue both greyhounds and abandoned cats and keep them until homes are found, or in some cases, the office is their forever home.  I have never seen them turn anyone away -- they are truly a wonderful veterinary hospital. Valley Vet was recommended to us by neighbors, which is why we decided to bring our 2 dogs (then puppies) to their practice.  The one girl at the front prides herself in being an 'animal trainer' and chastised us for taking our puppies to PetSmart for puppy training.  She said she would do a far better job, although her prices were triple what PetSmart charged.  She continued to knock on what we thought was good training.  All this before seeing the doctor.  (very unprofessional).  The doctors are nice however they PUSH medications and Frontline which they admit doesn't work too well.  Each visit got more and more expensive.  To neuter our male, they wanted $300 and wouldn't keep him overnight.  We ended up transferring care to Harleysville Vet where they neutered our male for well under $300 and kept him the night prior to surgery as well as the night after.  We haven't looked back at all.  If you want to spend a fortune and have vets try to upsell as well as an annoying checkout girl, go to Valley Vet.  Otherwise, it's worth driving a little further to Harleysville Vet where you get great care & affordable prices. We've been going to Valley Vet for 9 years  and have had exceptional care for our dog through various illnesses. Some posts complain about waiting time, which I do agree with, but this is due to their crazy demand. They do try hard to keep timing and alway apologize if there is a delay. If I could give Dr. Shreiber a quality review of "terrible" I think it would be more fitting. I volunteer with a rescue organization and we brought our foster dog in to have a wellness exam since the previous owner hadn't taken him to the vet in quite a bit. After waiting 40 minutes in the waiting room (for a 7pm appointment) and an additional 15 in the exam room, Dr. Schreiber entered, didn't even look at our dog and proceeded to criticize us for the records he was given from another vet's office, took out his frustrations about the miscommunication within his own office on us, was extremely rude and hostile and would not give our dog the care we requested. After listening to his reprehensible behavior and way he talks to his clients, we were fed up and left the office without receiving any care for our dog. Since we were coming from a rescue organization, he was extremely concerned about receiving payment which we had already discussed with the office staff. The office staff was very friendly and had a general look of embarrassment when they heard of how we were being treated. I have dealt with many vets in my life and have never been treated so inappropriately and poorly. I would highly recommend going elsewhere, unless you enjoy verbal abuse.We have since scheduled a visit elsewhere who apologized repeatedly for the trouble we've been through. This was by far the worst vet experience I have ever had. After waiting almost 45 minutes, we finally saw Dr Lindsay Schreiber. He had a bad attitude from the start. He didn't even say hello to our dog when he came in the room. He was more concerned with processing the payment than with actually treating the dog. The dog we took in is a foster dog therefore the payments are processed by the sponsored rescue. Due to an office staff miscommunication, this information was not relayed causing Dr Schreiber to "not know what's going on" . Even though I told the office staff that we were coming in with a foster dog, Dr Schreiber seemed to take out his inadequate office communication on us. When we told him we had already been waiting for almost an hour his response was "I've been treating sick animals". He did not show one bit of concern that our wait had been so long. When we told him that the rescue would like a vaccine titer done in order to prevent over vaccination, he basically said he wouldn't do it and that "the rescue does not have a veterinary license to make those decisions". Prior to the visit we contact the former owner's vet office who faxed over the dog's old vet records (with previous owner's approval). As Dr Schreiber was looking at the records he said "legally I shouldnt even have these" "these records don't tell me anything". They are vet records for a dog that your office staff asked to have faxed over!! This isn't some HIPPA regulation! We are trying to get this dog the best care possible since the former owners obviously didn't. Overall, this was the WORST vet experience I have ever had. I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this practice. Dr Schreiber had an extremely bad attitude, was more concerned with the money he should be getting than the actual health of the dog, and needs to seriously re-evaluate his bedside manner. Read Less
