This was the worst vet visit I have ever had. The vet did not handle a cat that didn't want to be there well at all. Made him more anxious and upset instead of helping. I asked if my cat sounded okay because I noticed some symptoms that could point to illness or disease, I was told he was fine. Took him to another vet and they told me he has a heart murmur and asthma and referred me to another specialist. Do not take your cat here. Read Less

The staff were extremely nice and the doctor was calm and had great bedside manner. The total time spent in the office from beginning to end was 25 minutes. They also have really cute toys and cat accessories, medications, etc that you may need. I definitely plan on taking my cat there for future checkups! Read Less

I have 2 rescued kitties. They have multiple health problems.     The vet I have been taking them to is very kind, and has tried to help them.     Is she too busy? Does she not have the knowledge? After many visits and a lot of money, I don't really know anything.     Then I took them to PVSEC NORTH. It was ridiculous ! They charged mega amount, (which would be one thing, IF they helped my babies) but they did NOTHING for them !!. The only way I would EVER go back is it was an emergency and there was no place else to go.    I decided to look for a Feline Only Vet, hoping they would know more. I called the Cat Clinic, just to get some information about it.   The woman that answered the phone was very rude and haughty. I called back a different time, same thing!! If that is what their staff is like, I am very wary of seeing their vet. I have been looking for another Feline Only Vet, but they are few. Any suggestions? Read Less

Dr Bebko and his staff are some of the most kind, caring, and compassionate people I've ever met.  Dr Bebko took care of three of my cats over a 25 year span.  He was as gentle and helpful with my first (elderly) cat as he was with my last, a sweet and shy lady who he helped over the years. I will never forget the thoughtful suggestions he made, when she developed kidney cancer, to try to make her life more comfortable.  When it became clear it was time to let her go, he and his staff made a difficult decision as bearable as possible, comforting her as she passed.  Just remembering it today still makes me tear up.If I had another cat today I would find a way to take him to the Cat Clinic. Yes, they can be expensive. They're worth every penny, and then some. Read Less

I'm astounded by the positive reviews on this site. I've had two cats seen by Dr. Bebko for a handful of appointments over the course of a year (I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt and gave him more shots than I should have). Cat #1 - vocal strain, she lost her "meow" suddenly and it had been several days. Dr. Bebko all but shrugged and said "sometimes that happens," before he started talking about diet. I told him she has a food allergy (previously diagnosed), and he said I shouldn't have to feed my cat a special diet. Excuse me? Food allergies are common in pets. He didn't address the reason for my visit at all and he didn't listen to me. Cat #2 - acting lethargic and had lost weight. Dr. Bebko ran a full panel work up and called me in a couple of days to say everything looked fine and to just continue trying to get her to eat more. I told him that it was impossible for everything to be fine because I know my cat and this wasn't normal. He told me, "well, you can try the animal hospital--they know more than I do." I got the referral, took my cat to Dr. Tam at AVETS (who is great btw), and she confirmed just by looking at the numbers that my cat has kidney disease. She actually said, "it's strange that Dr. Bebko couldn't diagnose that for you. Your cat has the textbook signs and numbers of a CKD cat." Honestly, I was pissed. I think Dr. Bebko likes to tell patients what they want to hear (i.e. that everything is fine with their babies), but my cat could have died without immediate treatment from Dr. Tam. I wouldn't trust Dr. Bebko to diagnose anything. Read Less

So my curmudgeonly and adorable cat needs a second/follow up thyroid blood panel to determine whether or not  her medication's dosage should be adjusted, but her normal vet charges $300 for the blood work. After reading mostly positive reviews of this place I decided to call them to ask about the cost of said blood work...the receptionist was really nasty to me, condescending to explain that the mandatory physical exam would cost $84, and who knew what the vet might discover, and who knew if the T4 thyroid panel *I thought* was needed was *really* what this vet would need to do, and he would be making his own decisions regarding treatment, thankyouverymuch, and in summary, how dare you waste our time with this phone call, you vile poor person. Awful. Despite being there 15 minutes prior to our appointment, people who came in after us were seen before us. We understand just because we were there early, does not mean we will be seen early, but people who had appointments after our time slot were seen before us. We were in the waiting room an entire hour. By the time they took us to an exam room, our cat was as pissed as we were, but unlike us, he was not hiding it. The vet (who moves as slow as molasses) refused to examine our cat because he was too worked up from the long wait, and then proceeded to put on what looked like welders gloves to shove our cat back into his carrier, despite us asking him to leave the room and us take care of getting him into the carrier. We obviously did not reschedule and have since found a wonderful vet. Maybe this was a one time incident because based on the reviews everyone seems to love it here. However, as slow as he moves and the complete disregard of our appointment time, I can't believe anyone would ever tolerate this. If he acts like this all the time I have no idea how he is still in business. In addition to not being efficient, and walking around at a snail's pace, it seemed as if the vet's age has caught up with him because he was completely out of it from our observation. I wouldn't trust him to water my plants. Awful, awful, awful experience. Read Less

I’ve been taking my cat to the clinic for several years and recently brought my new adoptee for the first time. I always have a pleasant experience with the staff, even when my kitties are being their usual grumpy selves, and they clearly love and care for the animals they’re working with even when the cats are misbehaving. Dr. Bebko has given me great advice for the welfare of my beloved animals, and he has a calm and confident manner that seems to soothe the cats when he’s working with them. I totally trust him and his skilled staff with the care of my pets. When it’s an emergency, I’ve been able to get same-day appointments and really careful attention, and it hasn’t been hard at all to find convenient times for routine care either. There’s free parking around the back of the building as well as generous metered parking on the block and I’ve never found the waiting room overcrowded. I’ve only ever had to wait when I was more than half an hour early for my appointment— usually if they have room they’ll take you right to an exam room. I haven’t felt pressured towards any expensive treatments for my generally healthy cats and my questions have been answered knowledgeably and kindly by all of the staff. I recommend this place to any cat owners I know. Read Less

Dr. Bebko really, really, really, REALLY cares about cats. It actually almost made me feel uncomfortable how much he cares about cats, which is a great characteristic for a veterinarian specializing in felines. I would definitely trust this man with my cat's life. Yeah, you pay a bit more, but how much do you care about your fuzzers? He even recommended against treatment for a certain situation, since it would harm and stress my cat, more-so than help. So Dr. Bebko actively refused additional money, out of caring for the cat's well being.Go with this veterinarian. You won't regret it. Unless if you need a budget vet, in that case go elsewhere. I love Dr. Bebko and all those at the Cat Clinic!! He really is the best vet I've ever had, as are the staff. They work with you on everything, from pricing to services to medications, to everything else. They do not try to sell you anything or push anything on you. They want the best for your cat and that's it. He cares so much about you and your cats. He worked with me through the difficult and slow decline of my very first kitty from a rare cancer. He never pushed expensive diagnostic tests and always fully explained all my options. We determined she had a rare leukemia (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) and we worked from there with treatment. Unfortunately, she passed after a year (she was only 13 years old, but I couldn't let her suffer), but I never once felt like he was pushing me to do anything that wasn't the best for her. He was always extremely straight-forward with me. He was the one to put her down and he was so sweet and caring to both her and me. My friend who came with me and has been a cat-owner all her life even comments on how caring and comforting he was. He really got me through that tough time.Fast forward a couple years and I end up getting a kitten (don't ever go in the play room at a PetCo or PetsMart; all cats are ARL rescues, so cute! I want them all!). My first kitten got very sick as soon as I got her home and Dr. Bebko treated her and told me to get a humidifier which helped her respiratory issues a lot. Then, six months later I make the decision to get a friend for my kitten because I'm not home enough and my kitty needed a buddy for company. A little kitten chose me but he was very tiny (2lbs at 10 weeks old, tiny). Another rescue, he also became extremely sick, but due to how small he was, he was on the brink of not making it. Dr. Bebko sees him and pulls out all the stops. He gave this kitten IV fluids, force feeds him, gave him warming blankets, etc. When I go to leave he gave me more of the kitten formula, some syringes to feed him, instructions to force feed him every 90 minutes, and sends me on my way. He says we'll figure out what to pay another time. I'm pretty sure we both came out thinking my little guy wasn't going to make it through the night (and if so he would never charge me for anything). Around 5am my little guy came around and started eating and drinking a bit on his own! He came around and is a happy, sweet, healthy, and super annoying kitten now (as a kitten should be!) Dr. Bebko and the Cat Clinic have been nothing short of amazing. My kitten has never quite overcome his URI and it recurs every couple months. He also has a hilariously concerning snaggle tooth, which may be making the URI's worse. Dr. Bebko is doing his best to avoid any sort of surgery on my kitten's tooth because he's worried about the strain on the little guy and the cost to me. While the cost is ultimately not an issue, I'll pay whatever needs to be paid for my cats, I appreciate his consideration of my kitten's well-being as well as myself. Dr. Bebko and all those at the Cat Clinic care about the cats first, you next, and then themselves. Your cat will always be their top priority and they are open, honest, and upfront about what needs to happen and what the options are. Dr. Bebko is also extremely sensitive to your needs and constraints, and goes to great lengths to make sure that your kitty is ok and you aren't bankrupt. I've really never met a person who is so sensitive and caring to both the cats and the owners. I wrote this giant, long, diatribe just to say, I've never had a vet I actually thought cared about my pets. Dr. Bebko does, and cares about you too, which is shocking but so refreshing. Such a fantastic person and vet. TL;DR: Go to the Cat Clinic! You will not regret it! Read Less

I brought my two cats to the clinic after relocating to Pittsburgh. I paid more money for an annual wellness visit for them than I ever did while living in NYC. The vet was a nice guy. He handled my one bratty cat very well. He did not take their temperatures (which I thought was standard) or suggest that the cats (both seniors) should get a blood workup. At their ages, I don't really want to wait until there is a major undiagnosed health issue to get them treated - I feel like it'll be too late at that point. I left the office with pretty much the same questions I had when I came in - about how to safely decrease their food intake as well as treat wax in their ears. I think I'll be going elsewhere next time. That said, the staff is very nice and the offices are very clean. Read Less

It all began when I discovered 4 tiny, goopy eyed baby kittens in my garage. Their eye and respiratory infections were clearly very, very bad. We called the Cat Clinic, and they talked us through all the options we had regarding the kittens (ie leaving them where they are, bringing them to the vet and putting them back with their mother and attempting to give medications, bringing them indoors, etc). They allowed us to bring all 4 in at once, and gave us complete instructions on caring for 4 3-4 week old kittens. We were in the Cat Clinic almost weekly tracking their progress for the first month. They were amazing, remembered all the kittens names (which isn't easy) and the cost was reasonable. Now our house is ran by 4 crazy brothers, and we still go to the Cat Clinic. If I ever have to bring in just one of the boys for anything, they always ask about the other 3. In fact, one of my boys has FVR and I had to bring him in alone for some antibiotics for a pretty terrible flair up. I had recently taken one of his brothers to PVSEC for a broken leg. As soon as I walked in door all the employees were there asking how the broken leg kitty was doing as PVSEC had sent them his records. Also, with the Cat Clinics guidance, my FVR kitty has only had that one flair up that required antibiotics.Dr. Bebko very knowledgeable, and its easy to tell that every employee there has a real love for cats. There was one day I had to bring in all 4 by myself for their yearly checkups and vaccinations. One of the reception staff saw me, and came out to help carry in all the carriers so that I wouldn't have to leave two out in the car and make a second trip. Also, one of my boys has "tough skin" and it can be tricky to get the vaccine needle in in one shot. Dr. Bebko will ask one of the assistants to come back and hold and pet the little guy while administering the shots to make it less traumatic for him. It's also a great bonus for my one scaredy cat that he doesn't have to sit in a waiting room filled with dogs, as that stresses him out a great deal. I couldn't imagine taking my boys anywhere else. I replied that I would have been a client if they were willing to accommodate me.  I got a snippy, "Well, I'm sorry."  Never mind!  I don't need to receive attitude from a receptionist.  Clearly, they don't  need my business. I have known the Bebko family for over 25 years since my business was across the street from their office. My customers who had cats raved about Dr. Bebko's service and attention to detail. We now live in Murrysville and had been visiting a vet in the area for convenience. This vet could not keep our cat from throwing up... almost daily.Called Dr. Bebko's office to make an appointment and were told that we should not bounce between two doctors. Made sense, so we had the records transferred to Dr. Bebko. It took a couple of comprehensive visits and some in-office tests... and a prescription for special cat food. Dr. Bebko listens. He cares. He spends the time necessary to diagnose and explain all options. That's why some people have to wait. Each appointment requires a different amount of time. Dr. Bebko will give the time, care and attention your pet deserves. You can't find medical doctors who do that for people. This is not "Joe the Robot Vet's" factory office. There needs to be a movie made about Dr. Bebko, the elusive Pittsburgh Cat Whisperer! He truly cares so much for cats - I never have to worry about negligence to detail when we visit. For instance, when Taro gets his shots and vaccines here, I notice that Dr. Bebko administers them to the parts of his body that have the least nerve endings (like the nape of his neck). While that seems obvious, I (and by I, I mean Taro) definitely appreciate this attention to detail. It seems that Taro's never that TARO-fied to go to the vet anymore! While I haven't had much experience with the rest of the staff, they seem to be relatively polite. The prices are definitely a bit higher than other vets I've seen, but I don't mind too much since Dr. Bebko is so good. Read Less

A local friend who considers Dr. Bebko an extraordinarily good vet checked and was told Dr. Bebko did consult with other out of area vets and would be happy to do that with my vet on behalf of my very sick kitty, but the cat's records would need to be faxed to him. My vet's office, here in Texas,  did so, and because the chest x-rays could only be sent via e-mail she called Dr. Bebko's office. She was told that Dr. Bebko did NO consultations regarding an animal he had not personally seen.  He added that she (my vet tech) was wasting his and her time, that Dr. Bebko would NOT be looking at the faxed information., and not to bother with the x-rays.  (Since my cat has a collapsed lung, records without x-rays are pretty useless.) When I reported this to my friend who had spoken so highly of Dr. Bebko, she called his office and was told the exact opposite...  Maybe the doctor IS good, but I'll never know because his office is either certifiably crazy or incredibly rude...maybe both. And, yes, of course there are feline specialists right here in Texas, but I wanted THIS particular doctor because of my friend's recommendation. Read Less

Once I learned that Dr. Bebko charged twice as much as The Humane Society, I stopped taking my cat to the Cat Clinic. If you only need an annual examination and shots, go to The Humane Scoiety (and make a donation!). If you have an emergency, go to the VCA Castle Shannon Animal Hospital. For everything else, try the Cat Clinic. A day before a recent trip, my cat began behaving erratically. Because I live near the Cat Clinic and they had a same-day appointment available, I went there. I waited 40 minutes past my appointment time and I didn't appreciate Dr. Bebko's "doom and gloom" comments. I won't be returning if I can help it. Read Less

Dr. Bebko and the staff at the Cat Clinic are phenomenal. Over the last ten years they have guided us and our cats through several medical emergencies and the decline and death of our beloved Fergus. Dr. Bebko has spent time with us on the phone when we've had questions and he and the staff have always gone above what could be asked of them. And when, in Fergus's case, it was time to consider end of life care, they referred us to a wonderful hospice vet (Dr. Nancy Ruffing - Gentle Journey). Most importantly, everyone who works here loves and knows cats. While there are other good vets in the city, when I visited them, I got the sense that they were better equipped to treat dogs. Dogs are great, but dogs and cats are very, very different and veterinary knowledge about or skills with dogs are not transferable to cats. All of our cats (at present Audrey, in her late teens, and three just-over-a-year young boys) receive excellent care here -- I cannot stress enough how highly I recommend them. After bringing our 3 cats to his office numerous times over the past few years, I have determined that Dr. Bebko is easily the best veterinarian I have ever done business with. One of our cats is feral and is afraid of almost anyone aside from those in our household, but Dr. Bebko handles her so gently that she barely puts up a fuss. Our other cats, including Mischa The Colossal Maine Coon, are equally trusting of him.  Dr. Bebko pokes, prods, gives them shots and does so in such a sublimely calm manner that one could call him a cat whisperer; he's that good. A special man, I can't imagine taking our cats to anyone but Dr. Bebko. I especially recall how he dealt with our little white cat Twinky during her bout with FIP. Twinky didn't make it, but Dr. Bebko did everything he could for her and handled the whole situation with the utmost compassion and optimism. The Cat Clinic in Bloomfield gets my highest recommendation for any lover of felines. Read Less

Read Less

I felt like I spent $100 for absolutely nothing. I would not recommend this clinic for any legit issues, I am sure they are fine for a vaccination or routine check up but I would never allow them to treat one my sick babies. I had taken my lil girl to the AVETS clinic over the holiday and they stabilized her and asked us to F/U with a primary Vet (clearly something significant was going on), the visit I had was a total sham I felt it was useless and I found a new Vet to care for my lil ones. I wish I could say that my girls love Dr Bebko, but alas they are little Mogwai that turn into gremlins as soon as I pull out the vet crates... Dr B. is however vary gracious in his acceptance of their apparent disdain. And, as my girls are frothing at the mouth and yowling like rabid dogs, Dr B is calm, caring, and soothing... To no avail, but he tries...They have great customer service too! I forgot all of my paperwork in my haste to get my monsters out of there before they started multiplying, and they called me and sent it all to me the next day!Great vet! (P.S. We are working on desensitizing the monsters to the crates/car... I really think it is the car ride that upsets them, not Dr. B's) Read Less

Wow!  Talk about attitude on the phone!  After all the glowing reviews that I read on-line, I decided to call this place and schedule and appointment for my cat who has been having issues lately.  Due to my work schedule, I requested a Saturday appointment but was told that they don't take new clients on Saturdays.  When I explained my situation, I was told that those were the rules of the clinic and that there were no exceptions.  I asked about late hours but the latest appointment is at 6 PM.  I work until 6PM.  I asked about early morning appointments but was told that they begin see patients at 10 AM.  I start work at 9 AM.  I was then told that I should take a day off to bring the cat in for an exam.  When I expressed my frustration, I was told, "Well, I'm sorry.  We reserve our Saturdays for existing clients only." I replied that I would have been a client if they were willing to accommodate me.  I got a snippy, "Well, I'm sorry."  Never mind!  I don't need to receive attitude from a receptionist.  Clearly, they don't  need my business. Dr. Bebko remains the high standard by which I judge all other vets.  I took 2 cats to him exclusively while I lived in Pittsburgh from 2002 to 2008.  I've moved away for 6 years now and I still cannot find a vet that gives my cats examinations (thorough ones) like Dr. Bebko does.  Nor a good vet that is open on Saturdays/nights like the Cat Clinic is... No other vet has taken so much time in their yearly examinations as Dr. Bebko.  I probably will forever be comparing vets to him.  He also is reasonably priced, not the cheapest, but who wants the cheapest thing when it comes to your pet?  He also does cats ONLY.  I'm willing to pay extra for that. This is a group of people who care. Oh yes, our cat is just fine. "Thanks, Dr. Bebko; you're a winner!"Visit. Be patient. You will love Dr. Bebko too. Read Less

Dr. Bebko and the Bloomfield Cat Clinic are fantastic!I started taking my cat Taro here about a year ago, after a disappointing experience with the Animal Rescue League vet.
