I recently got a young feral kitten who wasn't eating, and I was worried about her being taken from her mother too soon.  I called every veterinary clinic in Pittsburgh and none could see my kitten and I for weeks.  When I called East End, their receptionist was immediately willing to help me and showed concern for my pet like no other clinic had.  I had my kitten there a half hour later and the receptionist showed me how to properly care for my young kitten.  While I didn't receive veterinary services from one of their vets, I would 100% bring both of my cats back based solely on the kindness and care I was shown from the receptionist and everyone I came in contact with while I was there. I cannot say enough about Dr. Fisher and his staff! They care deeply about your pet and family.  Our cat, Holly, had some issues after a teeth cleaning and Dr. Fisher went above and beyond with his support. Dr. Fisher contacted us daily for a few weeks then followed up a few more times over the months to make sure she was okay. When she did have to be   laid to rest for another issue, they were so understanding of our clearly upset family. It's never easy saying goodbye. But giving us time with her at the end helped immensely.  We are excited to bring our new family member to meet Dr. Fisher and staff and know that our Henry will be in excellent hands. I can't recommend this practice enough and share our story with every pet owner. Read Less

Three weeks ago, I found out that my spritely but 12 year old beagle had a fracture in his leg and that bone cancer was the likely cause. The news was pretty devastating, and I wanted to make an informed decision about whether to amputate his leg or let him go. After a very trying and pushy client experience at PVSEC, I took the recommendation of a trusted friend and went to see Dr. Fisher for the first time. If you are looking for a vet who values transparency and also conforms his practice to cutting edge veterinary medicine and client communication, please consider Dr. Fisher. He is a highly competent veterinary surgeon who also understands and empathizes with the emotional gravity of these kinds of decision on human clients. He is patient and kind and factual. Dr. Fisher stands at the confluence of animal lover and expert, a rare find on the Pittsburgh vet scene. While cost was not a primary factor in my decision, EEVMC was more than three times more reasonable than PVSEC. The follow-up attention was superb and my dog is now resting comfortably at home. Dr. Fisher's staff is likewise superb. The only hard part about this experience will be calling my old vet and telling him that we found someone better. Read Less

Brought my two dogs here for the first time last week during the evening after receiving a recommendation from a friend. She suggested Dr. Fisher. We needed annual shots and to have a bump checked out on one dog. We didn't have to wait too long after checking in to be seen by the vet tech. She was super friendly. The wait for the Dr. to come wasn't too terrible. He had a good bedside manner. Definitely a bit more challenging when you have two medium/large dogs at once! He did his best to keep them calm while he did their exam and gave them their shots. After looking at the bump on my one dog, he had an idea of what it was but did a fine needle aspirate just in case. Thankfully it wasn't anything to be worried about after looking at it through the microscope. He also told me that my dog will probably develop more in the future. Which is good to know because of course I freak out at the slightest bump! Pros: evening weekday and weekend appointmentslarge lobby (one of my dogs is dog reactive)personable/knowledgeable stafffree subscription to Petly, online vaccine/calendar/reminder type site Cons: $350 for two wellness checks, vaccines (not all, as one was still good on a few), and the fine needle aspirate Parking could be tricky, on street parking and they said there is a lot behind an alley, but if you have a reactive dog like me, and need to go in and check the lobby first, could potentially be a pain Read Less

I waited 30 minutes for my appointment and left. I left my number and asked for a paper to give feedback but no techs seemed to care. Thus I'm writing this email in hopes that you will read it and improve your business so no one else has to go through my experienceeven though you aren't receiving my money, thus I doubt you care. My girlfriend brought our dog to your clinic last night. We chose your clinic because on the phone we were told that upon arrival we could go into the exam room if one was open. We looked forward to this because our dog was adopted and she gets extremely nervous in a space like a vet waiting room. When we arrived we were told we couldn't actually go into an exam room because they were all full. We arrived five minutes early to our 6:20 appointment and were told you were all running on time. We proceeded to wait 30 minutes in the waiting room. The techs did nothing and said nothing to imply any apology for the extreme delay. Another group came in and got their Boston and left all in the time we were sitting there they were utilizing a room we could have been in. they came in well after us 10 minutes into our wait. The only thing the techs would say is that a wait is not ordinary. If a wait is not ordinary at your practice as we were told over and over, perhaps they should try to practice good customer service and update us on the situation and offer our dog a treat or a discounted first appointment in the interest of showing a new client that they aren't simply money walking in the door. Or if things run that late don't over book services. This would also increase the quality. It clearly wasn't an emergency because 5 minutes before our scheduled appointment we were told everything was running on time. Then we sat with nothing for 30 minutes while the waiting room crowded. Also, it's great to have dogs wait in a clinic for so long transferring germs and killing time in a germ filled tiny space. It is disrespectful to not use your adequate amount of staff to make clients aware of a delay by phone or at least in the waiting room. We were told we were the last appointment. It's not like all of a sudden things were over 30 minutes behind. Instead of briefing us on how long we might wait or comforting our frightened dog the two techs carried on at the counter. How would you feel if you sat at your desk and a client walked in 30 minutes late? Are you telling me if I schedule a vet appointment at your practice I should clear my schedule for the remainder of the evening because it may take an extra 45 minutes to an hour all of a sudden? This was a while ago but I wanted to share my experience.  My dog was throwing up quite a bit. Usually white/yellow foam.  He'll throw up after eating food on some occasion.  We notice him eating my roommates' hair on the ground.  I didn't realize how much women shed around the apartment.  For some reason he'll chew on her hair.  Even with aggressive vacuuming, there is always hair.  My best guess was that her hair was balling up and irritating his stomach.  I scheduled to see East End Vet about it and told them the situation.  Explain everything above.  They said it was mostlikely gastric reflux and they aren't really worried that it was hair.  They prescribe me Pepcid capsules and sent me on my way.  I waited 30 minutes and exam was done in 5 minutes. The Pepcid didn't help any and I wasn't too impressed with my visit to followup.  I decided to move out on my own.  No more roommate's hair to worry about.  After we moved, my dog threw up a huge hairball.  It was the first time I saw the hairball and I knew I was right.  After throwing up the hairball, he no longer vomits and gained healthy weight again. It annoys me that I pay quite a bit money for a doc visit only to have it done in 5 minutes.  Then I'd have to follow up again and again, spend more money on visits until they finally "guess" the right issue.  I don't remember which vet (female) I went to.  There are multiple vets. I won't brush the entire place off yet.  I just won't go back to that one that ignored what I had to say. Read Less

We'd been using a vet in another part of Pittsburgh for over nine years, but, after seeing how dirty the operating room was (not to mention the vet became condescending about our dog's condition), we decided to seek a second opinion at EEVMC. The facility is super clean - our dog didn't shake upon entering, so it probably smells better to her; the vet and staff were much, much better about listening to our concerns and explaining their course of action; and the vet was fantastic in finding medications that we could give our dog (who now refuses all pills even wrapped in butter and bacon grease). We've been taking our dog here for a few years. Thankfully, we've only ever had to come here for routine visits and a couple of non-serious issues (knock on wood), so I can't really comment on their skill at diagnosing or treating complicated diseases. But for routine care, they've been adequate. Our dog has seen both Dr. Cangin and Dr. Fisher. I think both have a great bedside manner and are really good at explaining dog health issues to ensure that you have all of the relevant information. Also, their main receptionist Pat is one of the warmest and kindest people you will ever meet. She is such an asset to their veterinary practice. Unfortunately, the few other younger ladies who also work the front desk aren't so pleasant. So keep your fingers crossed that Pat answers the phone when you call! The main reason I'm only giving them 3 stars is because they are very expensive. I know that they're in Shadyside and they have a "green" building and that all of that stuff equates to higher prices. But I'm just not sure that they are necessarily worth the extra money. I also don't like the fact that every year during our routine annual visit, they usually give me the hard sell for doing a Lyme's test for my dog, even though we live in a non-wooded area and he's on flea and tick meds year-round. Maybe it *is* technically best practice (even if he's very low risk), but they sort of make me feel like a terrible dog mom if I say no, so I usually agree to it (and of course he never ends up having it). I don't like that kind of pressure. Also, I recently took my dog in because he was having back issues. We saw Dr. Cangin, and she couldn't really tell me for sure what was wrong with him during that visit, so she had me book another visit with Dr. Fisher, who is better at musculo-skeletal things. It was kind of annoying to have to come in (and pay) twice for the same issue, and I never really got a definitive answer from either doctor. As it turns out, I ended up later figuring out the issue on my own (it was his skin causing the pain -- sensitivity to his flea meds -- not a muscular issue, which was the doctors' guess).Overall, they get the job done (at least for routine or minor care), but just know that you'll probably end up paying more than you need to. I took my dog here when he was about 6 months old.  I had adopted him at 4 months from a shelter, and he had since developed an ear infection.  This was his first trip to the vet (outside of the shelter), and he walked into the clinic bouncy and curious.  We were taken to a room pretty quickly, and a female vet came in to see him (I do not remember her name, this was a little while ago).  My dog, a puppy who had been found living on the streets, jumped on her and greeted her very energetically.  The first thing the vet did was admonish me for my pet's behavior, telling me that I needed to get him in obedience classes.  I told her that he was in obedience classes, but I had only had him for 2 months, and well, he's a puppy!  She acted as though this wasn't an adequate excuse for his behavior. She proceeded to examine his ear.  He was tentative about this because his ear hurt him.  She got increasingly exasperated as his attempts to shake her off of his ear, and she once again admonished me for gunk in his ear and how bad the infection was.  I had taken him to the vet as soon as I noticed his symptoms, a couple of days after he went swimming in a creek.  She then called in a tech because she was having trouble cleaning his ear.  At this point, my dog was picking up on her agitation and was getting more and more nervous at her touch.  When he wouldn't stand still for the tech, she said they would take him in the back where they could better handle him. They returned 15-20 minutes later and told me they just couldn't get his ear clean.  She gave me medication and cleaning solution and instructions on how to use it in a tone which said, "Good luck with your bad dog, lady!"  At this point my dog was clearly unhappy and scared, tail between his legs, and wouldn't go near the vet.  When I checked out, the front desk staff saw that he was now a really unhappy dog, and suggested that I bring him back several times a week just to walk him in and out and improve his opinion of the place.Since this visit, I have of course switched to a different vet.  I struggled for a long time for my dog to let me near his ears for cleaning, and he has been scared of veterinary offices ever since.  I strongly do not recommend this vet's office. I have been taking my two cats here for over a year. Although the experience was never anything other than average (extremely long wait times even when I always show up on time or early for the appointments) I have continued to frequent this Vet due to close location to home and work. When taking my kitten to get neutered a couple of weeks ago I was told I should leave him at the clinic for the day until I got home from work instead of leaving him at my home unsupervised. They assured me they would care for him at the clinic for the entire day. When I picked up my kitten at the end of the work day I was told there had been an "incident"- he had woke up very energetically from the anesthesia and was "affectionately rubbing his head on his cage for attention". They told me that they quickly removed him and placed him in a softer cage and cleaned him up. When they brought the kitten out so I could take him home I saw that he had a 3 inch gash on his forehead (see profile picture and posted photo). The fur and skin in this area was completely rubbed off. His entire face was swollen  and his eyes could barely open due to inflammation. It was clear that he must have been violently rubbing his head against the cage for attention FOR HOURS before anyone cared to notice what the poor guy was doing to himself. The vet tech offered no apologies and simply blamed the issue on the cat. Needless to say I will not be taking my animals back to this clinic. Read Less

It makes me sad to give a 1-star review to a business to whom I've been loyal for 5 years.  Let me qualify this review by saying that one of the two vets in the practice, Dr. Fisher, is wonderful: scientifically knowledgeable, empathetic, and has a great bedside manner.  I sincerely wish he would switch to a different veterinary office-- I would consider following him there. My problem with East End is the other vet, Dr. Andrea Cangin.  She has shown what I consider negligence on two occasions which could have resulted in the death of two different cats, and may well have contributed to lasting and severe health problems for them both:1) She accidentally prescribed twice the dose of phenobarbitol to my cat, who has had epilepsy for many years.  It took me about a month to figure out why he was acting so sedated and remedy the problem, and it is unclear if the wrong dosing resulted in serious liver or other damage.  2)  She approved the use of a common flea and tick medication for a friend's dog, and neglected to mention that it is DEADLY poisonous to cats.  You can see where this is going: my friend's cat groomed it off their dog, and nearly died.  He had multiple seizures and has been in critical condition at the emergency vet for the past 4 days.  He is coming home, but is still very sick.  No one has any idea about the lasting neurological and other health consequences for my friend's kitty. After this second incident, I can no longer give my business to East End-- despite my fondness for Dr. Fisher--and I plan to do my part to warn people away from Dr. Cangin.  One instance, while disturbing, could be a mistake (no one is perfect), but two seems to be a pattern of carelessness with potentially fatal consequences for pets.  A cursory glance at the other negative Yelp reviews seems sadly consistent with this perception of Dr. Cangin (I noticed one other review describing a prescription mistake).  I also can't help but notice that pretty much all the positive Yelp reviews are about Dr. Fisher and the admin staff specifically.  I'm relieved to say I have an appointment for my cat at another vet clinic soon. After seeing all of the positive reviews, I was quite surprised when I witnessed their care first hand.  My friend's dog (who is a client of EEVMC) was diagnosed with lyme disease and subsequent decreased kidney function -diagnosed at EEVMC  When he lost use of his hind legs, my friend called to try to get an appointment.  The level of compassion which received her was horrendous.  A very cold receptionist simply informed her that there was no way her dog could be seen right away, even though most vets give priority to obviously ill or injured dogs.  No suggestion to go to the emergency vet or to come in and wait.  Just "no." To add insult to injury, they prescribed 200 mg daily of the NSAID Rimadyl to ease his pain.  Rimadyl can cause effects to the kidneys and liver.  The same clinic that diagnosed his kidneys were not functioning at full capacity prescribed a pain reliever that has been shown to directly affect the kidneys.  This shows poor follow through. Fortunately she went for a second opinion, and the second vet took him off of the Rimadyl. Read Less

Cangin and Fisher keep them healthy, are very caring and obviously love animals, which is extremely important! My older dog is also under care for her melanoma at PVSEC.  Both doctors at East End are careful not to interrupt her cancer care in any way keeping in touch with the cancer specialist all the time.  The East End physicians work with me as to the type of care my dogs receive, give me options, and explain everything.  I've cared for dogs since I was 5.  I'm not new to dogs.  We talk at my level.  When you are an animal person, dog, cat, bird or otherwise, you make a good, caring vet as has Drs. Cangin and Fisher.  I know my dogs are happy to be at East End.Helpful, knowledgable and cheery receptionists Pat and Mae start the process always knowing the right questions to ask and do their best to put my dogs at ease, which is never easy.  They do a great job.The loving techs seem to melt when they see my dogs.  They are efficient, taking care of my animal's needs.  My large dog never wants to go with anyone if I'm not walking along with her and the techs understand.I have found some veterinarians who have been vets too long, don't like animals anymore and who make the process of caring for pets problematic.  They should retire.  That's not ANY of the staff at East End Veterinary Medical Center. I took my dog here for a checkup after we adopted him and WOW we paid a lot more than we would've elsewhere. Welcome to Shadyside! We got charged $13 for antibiotics (which we could have gotten for much less or free at Giant Eagle's Pharmacy. The option was never given to me). Dr. Cangin recommended this really expensive flea + tick + heartworm medicine, and the woman at the front desk gave me her own advice and said to just use K9 Advantix and Heartgard since the medicine the vet recommended was expensive and made the other receptionist's dog sick. Say what now? Talk about conflicting. I was charged $25 for 'Cytology - Otic' which was swabbing his ears and checking the samples with a microscope for infection, $40 for ear ointment to treat a yeast infection in the dog's ear (not sure this could have been cheaper elsewhere), and $49 for 'Exam - Problem Oriented'. Whatever that means other than $CHA-CHING$The round of antibiotics we got was only for 14 days and didn't knock out his skin infection. It came back with a vengeance not long after the antibiotics were through. When we took him to the clinic at the ARL 3 weeks later they couldn't believe EEVMC didn't give us steroids to reduce the inflammation from his scratching in addition to a longer round of antibiotics. Which explains why he never stopped scratching and the infection never had time to go away, or his skin time to heal.We were pretty unimpressed. To top it off, when we called for a second appointment after his skin inflammation got WAY worse they couldn't get us an appointment for 4 days. I get that they're busy but are you really going to allow my dog to scratch himself raw for a superfluous amount of time because you're booked?? You can't possibly squeeze me in somewhere? I would have taken any appointment at any time with no notice. The ARL was much more accommodating, and we only paid $15 for our appointment there since it was our first appointment after adopting him. They still would have been cheaper either way, though.Pretty meh about this vet, as convenient as its location may be. Read Less

I was really optimistic about East End based on all the reviews here. My first impression was pretty good--the staff were all friendly, and Dr. Cangin quickly diagnosed my puppy's conditions. However, I was told the wrong dosage of medication (both verbally and in writing), and nobody caught it until I called in a week later asking why I had run out of medicine. If the medicine had been toxic in large doses, my puppy could have been seriously hurt, or even killed. To add insult to injury, Dr. Cangin told me there was no guarantee it wouldn't happen again, and I would probably be more comfortable going elsewhere.Final impression: unprofessional and downright dangerous to pets. I will definitely be going elsewhere. Read Less

My wife and I basically run a rescue shelter and currently have 12 cats (11 of which are rescues).  Needless to say, over the years we have gotten to know everyone at East End Vet quite well.  From chief receptionist Pat to Drs. Cangin & Fisher and all their assistants, everyone there is extremely patient, helpful, understanding, and caring to humans and animals alike! When we found them 5 years ago we did so based on a lone online review (I think it was on google) and the fact that we read an article on how their building was LEED certified.  We have since also learned that 100% of their energy source is renewable... and by that I mean both electricity and the positive attitude that they put into their work!  Every time we take a member of our family to see them we are pleased with the experience.  Everyone is incredibly knowledgable and will recommend the very best treatments and cater to your economic situation.  Instead of being greedy at all costs like most facilities in the human health care industry, they will even generously defer treatment to specialists when they feel it to be best or even the spay/neuter clinic when the same service or procedure can be received there for less financial burden!  On top of that, since our cat-to-income ratio is quite high, they really work with us to provide us with the most cost effective care.  They are truly happy to have our business, and it shows!  Like other reviewers said, the Drs. take phone calls (or at least actually call you back with the utmost personal attention), and Dr. Fisher does take time to do extra research and email us information and links to websites to learn more about health issues, proper care, and behavior modification techniques.  In a sense, we have become cat behaviorists by default -- through research, experience, and of course the folks at East End Vet.One thing about ALL vet offices is that you can find medications, supplements, and other products that they recommend elsewhere for much cheaper.  They offer the products there as a convenience and thus also likely have a convenience (profit) charge worked in.  Sometimes we are happy to pay the fee if we are busy and need the product right away (besides, the $ goes to a great business with great people, AND it goes to helping pay for that 100% renewable energy!  Products we have found for CHEAP on amazon.com that I remember off the top of my head: Viralys lysine powder, eye ointment, and also Feliway/Nutrivet pheromone diffusers and refills.  We usually get meds at local pharmacies if needed soon or we try websites like 1800petmeds.com.All in all, East End Vet is the place we will ALWAYS take our animals, so long as we live in the area! The only thing I haven't found there is the willingness to try and/or recommend natural flea treatments, BUT the good thing is that they do work with you if you tell them that you prefer only all natural care.  When we bring a new furball in from the street, we need to retreat the cats and house with flea treatment (we do this every 6 months anyway).  Instead of using the unfortunately popular, toxic, and dangerous conventional pesticide products that have flooded the market, we use (with perfect success) a product from a green American company in Texas called Wondercide -- wondercide.com ... I would have reviewed it on its own page, but unfortunately it doesn't have one yet on Yelp. So here goes, for all you looking for safe and natural flea/tick/pest control: The only way to truly rid your house and pets of fleas/ticks/pests by using this product is to get and use the non-thermal fogger they have available on their website (remove plants first) and also liberally spray your pets with a spray bottle.  It is 100% nontoxic to humans and pets of any size and is also 100% natural.  They also have outdoor products and products for all types of pests (and wood treatment!)!  The flea treatment works for ticks, bed bugs, roaches, spiders, ants, etc... BUT both the indoor and outdoor formulas are HARMLESS to beneficial insects like bees!  When our latest rescue came in I found a tick on her.  I sprayed her with the Wondercide and rubbed it into her coat, and within 10 minutes there were 4 dead ticks on the floor and no remnants left on her skin! It's taken me a while to write this review, because I lost my sweet li'l pal Wulph in the fall. But, East End Vet and Dr. Fisher were absolutely wonderful and completely there for me from start to finish. These people genuinely care about animals.Aside from the fact that their facility is green, clean, and convenient, Dr. Fisher went SO above and beyond for me and my dog, who, it turned out, had canine cancer. I won't go into too much detail, because I don't want to cry on my laptop, but Dr. Fisher performed every test he could at their clinic, allowed me to email him iPhone-shot video of my dog's abnormal breathing, took my panicked phone calls and calmly answered my questions, performed an extra test for free when I was trying to keep my mounting vet bills in check -- and preparing for what I knew would be monumental ones when we inevitably had to go to a vet hospital -- and, after my sweet little Wulph was gone, I received both a card and a phone call with their condolences. I was truly touched by the caring staff at East End, and every pet I have will be their patient. Rest in peace Wulphman. We miss you! Read Less

I have been going to EEVMC, and specifically, Dr. Fisher, since I brought my first American Mastiff, Kingston, there as a pup.  I had been calling around, looking for the right vet, and when Pat answered the phone, I think my decision was made right then and there.   She made me feel like my puppy was the last one on earth, and when she said she couldn't wait to meet him, I believed her.  Pat is more than a receptionist, she is welcoming committee, cheerer upper, and information, all in one!  Just yesterday, I called because someone came into my work, concerned about the baby squirrel they found abandoned and unable to walk.  Pat had the name and number of the Wildlife Rescue organization right on the top of her head, and added personal knowledge of how good said baby squirrel would be taken care of there. My good experiences haven't stopped in the waiting room though, the receptionists, the techs, and Dr. Fisher are all great!  Dr. Fisher gets down on the floor with your dog, gives lots of cuddles, and makes the whole visit enjoyable.  He listens to you, and does not give off the "I'm the vet, I make the decisions" vibe.  He allows you to be a partner in your pet's care, and takes your concerns and thoughts seriously.  He has even taken the time to email me more information, after my appt, about a concern I was having with my dog.  I really appreciate the care my pups get at EEVMC, and even though I have moved 40 minutes away, it's worth the drive. Two visits, two times they pushed things on me in a mindless way. The first was a receptionist who said they don't recommend giving puppies rawhide chews, but I should try giving them this other treat instead (that she handed to me). She called it a ""dental chew"" from Purina. I asked what is was made of, and it was in fact, pressed cowhide. So apparently expensive, brand name raw hides are okay, just not cheap ones. Then the vet recommended we put our dog on heartworm preventative year round. Having worked for a vet in the past and aware of the fact that they are spread through mosquitoes (not really prevalent in January at the time of my visit), I asked why. His reply was so hollow: people forget to start them again in the spring, you might take him on vacation to the beach during the winter, and it can prevent some parasites (in addition to heartworm). I can mark my calendar for when to start again; no beach vacations are in doggy's future; and I can watch for signs of problems with parasites - I'd rather do that then spend my money pumping my dog full of medication he doesn't need. They are so convenient for me that I'd normally be willing to pay the premium they charge (they are pricey), but not when their primary concern seems to be blindly hawking products. I'll go somewhere a bit more thoughtful. Read Less

I've never really written a review on a site like this, but I had to for EEVMC because they are such a far cry from what I'd become used to with other local vets. Not only is the medical staff top-notch, but the office staff is amazing. I never really thought about how important having great front-office staff was until I had to leave my old vet due to paperwork kept getting lost, phone calls not returned, orders for food and medicines misplaced or ordered late, vaccination records confusing and unkempt, etc.... We moved to EEVMC, and I was delighted by how well-organized their facility is. Their staff keep all records up-to-date and easily accessible, the office is primarily paperless with everything going directly into computer records immediately, and whenever I need my pets' information for boarding or to get medications, the staff are ready, willing and able to do whatever needs to be done to get the correct information to the people who need it in a very timely manner. Medically, I can't complain at all. They've provided excellent care to both my cats and my dogs, and saw one of my cats through to the end of his life and helped him pass with dignity and compassion. They handle both my dogs very well, even though one is an intimidating combination of large and skittish. They always do their utmost to help him become comfortable with being examined and never try to just wrestle him into submission like vets at our former practice used to. Their prices are comparable to the practice I used prior to moving all my pets to EEVMC. Veterinary pricing varies a lot depending on the region of the country and whether it's a rural or urban area, but I find EEVMC's prices to be perfectly reasonable for this area. Read Less

I have lived in 4 states and have been a multiple pet owner for over 30 years. While in Pittsburgh I have taken my animals (who are like my children) to at least 7 vets and I have been frustrated with all of them. Hands down the EEVC is by far the best I have ever been to anywhere! Everyone that works there is knowledgeable, friendly and positive. They are always on time, I have never had to wait to be seen. Their prices are reasonable and they even have parking. They saved my 8 week old kitten that was diagnosed with Panleukopenia. They recently spayed my cat, repaired her hernia, vaccinated my dog, did a heart worm check and some other procedures for a very reasonable sum. If you are thinking about switching vets, do not wait any longer. It is my experience that the switch will be the best move and you will not be disappointed. Read Less

Read Less

Every single person that works there is always nice, helpful, pleasant. I also get some medications filled & they are ALWAYS accommodating, always do whatever they can to help you out. They are amazing. And as I said, it's not just the vets/dr.'s (which are also all great), it's everyone. They make something not fun, easy, pleasant & as nice of an experience as possible. Love these doctors! After a terrible experience with Greenfield clinic East End clinic is like a breath of fresh air.

Read Less

Read Less

My former vet was taken over by VCA.  I didn't like the rules changes, the prices and many of the new procedures, so I was on the hunt for a new veterinary clinic for my dogs.  I asked my friends on Facebook for a suggestion and East End Veterinary Center won, so I tried out Dr. Cangin and Dr. Fisher.  I have been thrilled!I have two dogs -- a 14 year old large breed mutt with arthritis and melanoma and a 5 year old pitt bull who is just totally healthy.  Drs. Read Less

We got a puppy in January so have had the new experience of having the same vet for every milestone and appointment, and she has been great every time.  The front staff are super friendly, offer lots of treats, and clearly adore animals.  Dr. Cangin answers all my new-parent questions with tons of information, offers advice and recommendations which have all proven to be great, and will be loved by my dog again as soon as the visits become less often and less intrusive. The pup was just neutered/microchipped and his scar is tiny, the surgery was smooth, and they kept me updated all along the way.  Everything you want in a doctor. Finally, they have an interactive website so I can access and keep up to date with my dog's medical history and appointments online, a nice luxury.

Read Less

I really like East End Vet and the people that work there, but they are very expensive. It was $500 to have my 5 1/2 month old puppy neutered. It is supposed to be between $45-$100. I am still a little speechless. They also tend to make you feel like you have to have extra things done at the time of your appointment depending on what you are there for, i.e tooth extractions, extra vaccinations, etc. I have never walked out of there feeling good about the amount of money I've spent, but they are nice people. If you don't mind spending a lot of money (maybe it goes toward their green initiative?), I would recommend them. Read Less

I had been looking for a new Vet. to take my cats to and liked the idea of the East End Vet. being green. I had went into the appointment with my cat having high expectations and I was not disappointed! Everyone there was extremly nice when we went in they took my cat and I into a room right away and let her walk around the entire room. They took a picture of her that shows up on a profile on their computer where they keep thier records which I thought was great. I had doctor Dr. Fisher and he took the time to sit and talk to me about my cat and all the findings he had. My cat who was clearly nervous at first but calmed down being able to walk around and explore on her own. I highly recommend this Vet!!! Read Less
