Caution:  We own a 3 1/2 year old French Bull dog named Chloe. We have taken her to Greentree Animal Clinic her whole life. Dr. Alan Mann is the owner, and has seen and taken care of her check ups.   We had not spayed our Chloe as of yet, and were planning to do so after this last heat cycle. Chloe was 2 months late, and was in heat going on 30 days.When we tried to make a apt. with Dr. Mann, he was not there and we saw a Dr. Brown. He took a ex-ray and ran a blood panel stating it was just a extra long cycle and nothing to be concerned with. He took a blood test that was quite costly and said it would test her estrogen level and would be back in 3-5days. It took 2 weeks.  One week later, Chloe was not eating, was lethargic, and had a mucus bloody discharge(36 day of heat). We called again, and Dr. Brown took a blood test to send away which would show how soon her heat would be over.. He stated not to worry, she was simply tired from bleeding for 5 weeks, and there was nothing life threatening wrong with her. My husband and I had done our own research on line and Chloe's symptoms all pointed towards Pyometra, a deadly infection in unsprayed females. Dr. Brown dismissed that idea saying she was entirely "too young" and her blood was fine. I insisted Chloe was very ill and there was something underlying. He promised she would be fine  By that Monday,we overrode Dr. Browns advise and took Chloe to PVSEC, a renouned  Pgh. vet hospital with all board certified surgeons and vets. As soon as the doctor saw the mucus bloody discharge, she said, "I think your little girl has Pyometra." A sonogram proved she did, and Chloe was rushed to emergency surgery within hours. The doctor was surprised it was not diagnosed earlier. If we would have waited for these blood tests to come back, Chloe could be dead. Both sacs were full, and if they had burst, paratinitis could have killed our fur baby.She also, luckily had the "open" pyometra and not the deadly "closed".   Greentree Animal Clinic and Dr. Mann were made aware of this, and  never apologized or even tried to work something out. All Dr Mann said is, "You should have spayed her when she was a year old." A heartless, unprofessional doctor who couldn't have cared less about the welfare of our Chloe. We want to share this with others so there so no other innocent dog (and we have heard many stories about Dr Mann and his mistakes, but always stuck up for him), falls under the care of this establishment. Absolutely love the staff here. We haven't owned a puppy in a long time, and the vet gave us some great advice on how to manage the teething and potty training. He also helped us understand the different methods available for fleas/ticks (highly recommend getting some type of tick control as PA has a high Lyme disease prevalence) and what methods would be the least costly yet highly effective. Dr. Kelly and her team are very thorough in exams as well as addressing any concerns you may have regarding testing or general questions about your pet and its health. The fees are affordable too and I'm never cringing on how much of a high vet bill I'm going to end up with vs other vets that barely take time to look at my dog. Best Experience EVER!!!!   My boxer had a bad ear infection in both ears.  I was looking for an affordable place to take him that would rip me off.   A friend recommend Greentree Animal Clinic, I went online filled out a Nrw client form requested an appt ASAP and the next day they called back and made an appt for the next day.  I was very impressed with the Veterinarian,  (dr Brown I think ) he was very kind and loving to my boxer.  Examined him, Smelled his ears, took a look.  Took a swab of each ear and came back with a syring of medicine.  He put meds in both of his ears and that was it.  No bs of trying to get me to do or pay for anything unnecessary.  106.00 for a visit, test, and his medicine.  That's a great deal!!!  I will always go to and recommend them in the future Read Less

I absolutely love this office. Everyone there is so friendly and truly cares. They know you when you call or when you walk in. Dr.David Brown is amazing. My dog has gone through three different complications over the past few years. Dr.Brown has been a godsend in treating my pup; I previously had another vet that couldn't cure my dogs mange, After one visit with Dr.Brown he adjusted her meds and in three days showed 100% improvement. Most recently she suffered a lens luxation and was diagnosed with glaucoma,I was depressed and heart broken to find out the opthemologist  @PVSEC she would most likely be losing one of her eyes, I took her to Dr.Brown for a second opinion and follow up, he was able to (again) switch her meds up and she has since been doing great! Listen, I could go on but I couldn't say enough about Dr.Brown. He takes time to explain everything with you,he has a passion for helping  animals and is just an all around amazing human being. I called the office because my 5 month old puppy wasn't acting "normal". I told them she was vomiting every time she eats and has diarrhea. They asked if she was teething, which she is. I was told by Dr. Brown that she had "textbook teething symptoms". He wanted to put her on some medicine for an upset stomach and probiotics without even bringing her in for a quick exam. I went and picked up the $30 probiotics and gave it to her. The next day the vomiting and diarrhea were worse. I called again and was not called back for 4.5 hours. I was told they were closed for the day but if I called in the morning they may be able to squeeze her in if I was still concerned by her condition. By the time I got the call back we were already on our way to University Veterinary Specialists. Within 30 min of being at UVS they performed an x-ray and found an intestinal blockage. They said if it would have been left untreated a few more days that she could have died. They asked if I notified her Vet because she had all the symptoms of a blockage, and I told them I had called a few times and was told it was teething and not to worry. They were completely baffled by this response and could not understand why they wouldn't at least check her out and just assume it was teething. UVS monitored her in their ICU overnight and she had emergency surgery the next morning and is doing great. UVS forwards all records and procedures to your primary vet. 12 days later, I still have not had a follow up or even just a call to see how she is doing. I have 2 dogs and neither one of them will be seen by Greentree Animal Clinic ever again. The complete disregard for owner's concerns, the failure of any sort of follow up knowing that she was having issues and was being taken to an emergency clinic, and the complete lack of communication from the front desk to the doctors is completely unacceptable. I went to Dr. Mann for years with my childhood dog and never experienced any problems. As an adult, I returned with my own dog and was treated horribly. I brought my dog in for a limp (she was 11 months old) and explained she was holding a leg up while she peed and was often limping after long walks. She also sat very strangely, pushing her legs out behind her, even when sitting up straight. He told me it was simply growing pains and maybe I should check with my husband before I brought her in for anything so ridiculous again. The dismissive and sexist attitude didn't sit well with me. I then took her to another vet only to find out she has hip dysplasia, badly, in both hips. If he had taken the time to actually listen to my concerns, they are apparently textbook signs of hip dysplasia. My poor dog could have had surgery before she turned a year old because things aren't fully formed at that point. By the time we received a correct diagnosis, she was too old to receive one of the surgeries that could have significantly improved her life.I want to emphasize that I cannot speak for any of the other vets at this office, but you have been warned that Dr. Mann acted inappropriately and ignored the very legitimate concerns I had about my dog. I called to make a first appointment for my cat. His clinic closed. I did not get a hold of a person and they said they would call back in 24 hours. I was concerned about how I would reach them in case of emergency. When lady called back and I politely told her my concern and I was considering other clinic she said"well it is just as well, we couldn't get you in for a month anyway." This is a wonderful vet clinic. I've been to a few in the Pittsburgh area. They are by far, the best! Everyone there is kind and compassionate. They also have fair pricing and are not looking to take people to the cleaners. My cat, Gypsy, became very sick this past June. When most vets would have insisted on keeping her overnight and charging me even more, they ran tests, gave her fluids and some meds and sent me home with her. When she became worse two days later, they worked to fit me in for another appointment. Gypsy got better and when she had a slight relapse, they prescribed another round of antibiotics without making.me bring her in a 3rd time to help their bottom line! Top notch all the way around! Our bichon is almost 14 and has been with Greentree Animal Clinic since he was 7 weeks old.  He's always been relatively healthy until almost a year ago when he started getting sores and redness around his mouth. We brought it up on at least 5 occasions. Dr Mann wasn't concerned.  One occasion we were able to see Dr. Ruether, who was very concerned. He put him on steroids and gave him an injection of antibiotics.  He got better for a short period of time but it never took long to come back.   Dr. Mann was not concerned.  We explained that our dog's personality had changed and he was mean and would go crazy when we tried to touch him.  Finally, after 4 to 5 visits with no resolution, we took him for a second opinion to Bridgeville Animal Hospital.  Dr. Rubin was caring and compassionate. She suggested a biopsy to see what was going on.  Sadly, the results of the biopsy show our beloved boy has cancer-Cutaneous Lymphoma which doctors believe he has had for "quite a while".  The sores on his face turned out to be small tumors.  I'm still in shock that we wasted so much time at a practice where they weren't interested in even trying to find out what was wrong.   He should have been diagnosed a year earlier when he could have had better quality of life and we wouldn't need to feel guilty for failing to provide him with competent care.  Never. Used to LOVE this office and have gone there for decades - now it's a cluster.  they take on too many patients and it's very difficult to get appointments -days and days and days.  Response times are terrible - often have to call multiple times.  When you advise the animal has an issue they want to quickly send you to the Emergency pet hospital, where they don't know the animal and are know to be a bit of a rip off.  Rude office staff.  Online Pet Portal does not work for script refills hardly ever.  1 out of 3 times someone gets the script.  the vets are awesome but a whole lot of waiting and frustration to get to them.  On the hunt for a new vet with a caring and responsive staff. I just scheduled an appointment today, which reminded me of why I love them so much. The people who answer the phones don't rush you. They get the information and make sure nothing needs to be done until you can get in. And they really do care. In a pinch on a Sunday, I took my dog to Banfield, and it made me appreciate them even more at Greentree Animal Clinic. Every vet I have seen has given my pets the time necessary to address all of my questions and to make sure I understand everything. I really appreciate that. I left my last vet due to rude receptionists, prescriptions that didn't get filled when promised, and prices that would be quoted low for procedures and billed much higher. I have not dealt with any of those concerns at Greentree Animal Clinic. I truly value the empathy and respect I have gotten from every person I've encountered there, and I will continue to recommend them to my friends and family. Read Less

Three months ago I brought my 13 yr old golden retriever to this clinic for an ear problem. It was diagnosed and treated.  Shortly after returning home she started to cough and gag like.  I watched her for a couple hours do this and then called the vet to see if maybe she was having an allergic reaction to the medicine they gave her.  She was very uncomfortable.  I asked if they though she needed to come back to the office.  The dr told me that it sounded like she was overheated and to put cold towels on her.  I told him that I didn't think that was the problem because she hadn't been out.  At this point they were open and would be for another hour.   Two hours later I was at a vet hospital with them telling me she is suffering from a heart problem and that they really couldn't do anything for her.  WHAT?!?!  So I found myself having to put her down.  Fast forward to now.  I have a 14 wk puppy that has blood in its stool. They have not seen her yet. I bring in a sample.  Wait 24 hrs.  They leave a message that it's positive and to call for an appt.  I call. She has to wait 4 days to be seen.  WHAT?!?!?   Obviously my pups are out of there for good!  Thanks Greentree for caring for my animals...  Absolutely the worst care in all my experience with vets!! Our dog needed bladder surgery and Dr. Mann and his staff did a great job. This is the second time he has needed this procedure (prior surgery at a different facility) and we had considered putting him down due the the very high cost the first time. I decided to find another local vet that could do the surgery and compare the cost. Greentree Animal Clinic was 75% less expensive and the final result was just as good. I am so happy to have found this place.  They were very helpful, informative and thorough.  My dog needed to have her teeth cleaned and pulled.  We had an initial assessment appointment to make sure she was healthy, they also ran blood tests.  We dropped her off in the morning, a couple hours later the surgeon called to let us know she was doing well, but that he would have to pull a lot of teeth (I wasn't surprised).  It was so nice and considerate of him to do that.  It was a good price too. I was more than satisfied with the service both my dog and I received from our first visit. When a cat adopted ME, there was no question in my mind where to take her for her medical needs. I can;t believe this place has a high rating. I had a bichon, who was seen here since his puppyhood and who was dying. I called to make an appointment to have him put down because he was in great pain. The receptionist would not give me an appointment until one week later, even though she could hear him crying out in pain. Anyway, he died in agony before his appointment. When Dr. Brown reviewed treatment options, he was very careful to listen to my thoughts and observations before providing his opinion on the best way to move forward. Your staff may be knowledgeable. However, lack of bedside manner is a drastic understatement regarding your staff. I will never bring any of my pets and would never recommend this facility to anyone. I have never expected such disrespect or just blatant rude attitude from anyone. I'm in the Healthcare industry and in retail and have never had someone act as if I was an inconvenience to them. I'm disgusted and I hope the doctors address this based on the reason I initially heard too many great things about the knowledge and level of care from the doctors themselves. Read Less

Greentree Animal clinic is the absolute best!  We have had both Dr Mann and Dr. Reuther.  Both are very good, each in their own strengths.  I recently had to have my beloved dog euthanized due to a tumor growing on his hip.  Dr. Mann was very sensitive and caring to my feelings of loss.  He offered to make a clay paw print from my dog after he passed.  He went above and beyond to make sure he had a peaceful passing with me by his side.  Thank you for allowing me that experience, and for guiding me through the process. Our cat went out the other night and must have gotn into a fight. He was wounded but we could not tell the extent of his injuries. My girlfriend called them today and they made an appt for us immediately.  When we got there, I couldn't believe how friendly and caring they all were. We went into the exam room with doctor Tierney Kelley and a vet asst Sam. They were the best. So gentle and caring. They did not pressure us into any procedures that my cat did not need. They worked hard So we didn't have to leave him over night. This was by far the best veterinarian I have gone to in all my years as a pet owner. This has all become a racket for making money. Doctors don't care about the animals in 90% of the places you go, but Greetree animal clinic is not one of those places. Since both my animals have passed on, and they sent me on both occasions a lovely sympathy card. My one cat was put down at a totally different vets office cause he needed emergency care. I think it's safe to say that I love my cat more than some people love their children...So, my little monster got sick. My 10 year old indoor cat was walking around with a stuffy nose and breathing heavy. I never take her to the vet. She has been happy and healthy and, you know, she's a cat.  I kind of let nature do it's thing. However, this is my furry child and no way am I going to let her suffer. I checked out Angies List, and found this place was close by, had great reviews, and most importantly, could get me in immediately. Now, had I not returned for a second visit, this would be a very different review. At my initial appointment, the vet that saw my kitty was just filing in. She was kind of treated like a wild animal. Not to mention the treatment she was given didn't work. I was very distraught and very stressed, and as my girl's condition worsened, I contemplated going to another vet. My mom and the boyfriend advised to give it one more try. After all, they had done her blood work, and knew exactly what she had been given. I made very clear to the assistant on the phone that I didn't want to see the same vet. She hadn't really done much examining on my cat and gave her just a general antibiotic for what was "probably just a respiratory infection." The lady on the phone was kind. She was patient and caring. My only doubts on this place had been the vet. All other staff was genuine. This time, I saw Dr. Bob... Robert...something. I don't recall his last name, but I do have his card stashed away in her carrier compartment, and it has been added to my patient file that he is the only vet I care to see at this point. He was an older gentleman, very kind, and very knowledgeable and patient. He answered all my questions, explained everything thoroughly, and was kind to my girl. She seemed to like him. She's not mean, but in 10 years having not been to a vet, and being sick and scared, well, the first visit they treated her like she would be violent and immediately scruffed her (I know it doesn't hurt her, but it put her on edge) just because she still has her claws. I don't want anyone to get hurt, but she didn't even try anything. This Dr. was very different. He gave her 2 shots right there, and though she growled a bit, she didn't even move. He gave a different diagnosis and treatment, and was very proactive.  He also did a much more thorough examination than was done before.  I am very happy to have had my kitty seen by him, and like I said, if not for this follow up visit, this would have been a very different review. He had even mentioned to me that her notes said she would need to be sedated for any xrays (that, god willing, we won't need) because she was "difficult" and he didn't see that as being accurate at all. I feel much better, and am hoping that my little devil will be feeling better herself. If she isn't, I will definitely return to see Dr. Bob, because I know he cares, takes his profession seriously, and wants to make sure that my cat is healthy again. I have been going to GAC for 6 years with my 15yr old dauchsand & 7 yr old rescue beagle. This place is awesome. I wouldn't go anywhere else. From the warm hearted girls at the front desk to the caring techs and kind caring vets.. It doesn't get any better. It's quick and easy to get an appt. They always run on time.
