Brought in my 8 month old kitten for a Spay with Dr. McMahon on 4/25/17. The day after the spay she was not acting herself, not playing. The next few days she was hardly eating, and began meowing a lot.
We knew this wasn't normal behavior.
We brought our kitten back to Dr. McMahon on Wednesday night 5/3/17 she suggested we do Subcutaneous fluid in the neck, Antibiotic shot, Pain medication, give that a try. Hysterectomy is a major surgery she could just be in pain. We could do blood test, but lets see how she does the next 2-3 days.
Friday 5/5/17 I leave for work and kitten is meowing even more. I get home and she seems lethargic, fading in and out.
We took her this time to Quakertown.
They immediately Hospitalized her! Did a Blood test, told us she was DYING, Anemic, Dehydrated, had failure of Kidneys and Liver.
We spent an additional $700 dollars, had her hospitalized 2 days, to be told there is nothing they can do. The Vet suggested euthanizing her to end her pain and suffering.
All of this b/c of a SPAY!
We have learned the reason for all of this is because Pleasant Valley did not give her Fluids while she was getting spayed (We weren't informed this was optional?), or suggest a Pre-operative blood test (AGAIN, DIDN'T KNOW).
If I had that blood test I could prove she was in good health prior to this surgery. I am sad this Spay cost our little girl her life.
This is no coincidence.
