Awesome vet, after moving to this area I needed to find a more local place to take my husky. Late last week he had gotten sick and showed no signs of improvement, after calling the office on Sunday, Dr. Lee had, within 5 minutes returned my call and spoke to me about my concerns, and gave me direction to comfort my dog. They were already booked with appointments Monday morning but he managed to squeeze in an emergency appointment to be sure my dog was okay, even though I had ...never been there before. While at the office, everything was incredibly clean, everyone was awesome, and throughout the entire appointment all of my concerns were addressed and every bit of information was gone over in detail, which I greatly appreciated, so that I knew what all was going on with my dog. It's alright. Friendly workers. They take good care of my dog. I haven't walked out of there with that awesome feeling to give more than 3 stars. Maybe because I'm not a veterinarian and I'm not sure about all the different tests they want to do on my dog which they know we love our pets like our kids so they might take advantage of that. My dog Kirby & I recently moved to the Mt Penn area; and since I don't have a car, I needed to find a nearby vet for him. AVAH is within walking distance from my apartment. I'm so grateful that AVAH's vet (we saw Dr. Mueller) and support staff are very kind, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. This past week, I had a terrifying experience while out on a neighborhood walk with Kirby (who I had on his leash): a pit bull had seen us walk by on the sidewalk while she was using her backyard bathroom area. She finished up quickly and ran from her yard and attacked (& injured) Kirby. That dog's owner took responsibility & drove us to AVAH for emergency treatment. {Kirby was already their patient because I had recently taken him there for his yearly wellness exam}. Their staff tended to Kirby immediately. I was a little bit relieved when Dr. Mueller told me that Kirby's injury was limited to 2 puncture wounds on his right front leg. I called their answering service that night because I was concerned about Kirby's pain level. I will NEVER go back there again. They new vet is a butcher and the old vet is arrogant and cocky. My dog had a lump removed by his shoulder and a lump that looked like a skin tag but dr. Lee said it wasnt. Well we go to pick him up at 6 p.m. The vet tech goes over our discharge instructions, repeating and stressing 3 times that the incision on his hind end(the small one that i thought was a skin tag)is very tight, theres not alot of meat back there when stitching it together so if it starts bleeding call them immediately. So of course im worried now. After about 20 minutes of stalling and trying to waste time for some reason, shes says ok ill go get the dr. and your dog. We are waiting and waiting. Its been about 15 minutes, im getting worried and mad so i open up the door that leads to the back rooms and i hear talking but dont see anyone. Another 5-10 minutes go by and dr. Lee comes in.......by himself. He starts talking, babbling really then says do you have any questions. I said yea wheres my dog? He says oh o.k. ill go get him. He comes back, brings him in and says bye and walks out the door. My boyfriend and i looked at each other mouths dropped open at a loss for words. Tears came streaming down my face. It looked like a butcher did the work. As a matter of fact, 2 people that visited us asked exactly that. Whos the butcher that did that. He was stitched on 3 layers, the outter ones were loose and not near enough put in, looked like someone got sick of stitching and just went across zig zag all over to make it look like there were alot of stitches, NOT! The top stitches on both ripped within 3 days. He was in pain so he wasnt acting up and i was with him 24/7. My boyfriend started taking care of the wounds and they looked clean but the fatty meat was exposed about the size of a half dollar at least. So after 9 days i called and told them he needs to be seen. I went in and the old dr seen us, he had no clue what was done he didn't do it and then he gets an attitude and tries to say i didnt follow the instructions. Well after he says, you have 2 choices, let it go and keep cleaning it the way you were it will just take longer to heal, or we can take him in and basically redo the surgery and stitch him up again. I said you are not touching my dog again. We took the stitches out ourselves, there is no way i will EVER make my dog go in there again. Its been about 6 weeks, one is completely healed just needs to grow hair back and the other one is healing its down to the size of a nickel. My poor dog went through hell, never again!Read Less

As of April, 2016, Antietam Valley Animal Hospital is now under the ownership of SeungJun Lee, DVM. It has been such a smooth transition, that Dr. Godon, the previous owner, often jokes "that's because he's my clone"! The two veterinarians have teamed up to continue the 40+ years of traditionally offering "good medicine". As practice manager and also as a client with three cats and a crazy Bernese Mountain Dog, I am proud to be affiliated with such professional doctors and their incredible support staff. Bogey, at 8 years old with an abnormal hips, still runs like a puppy thanks to their recommendations of diet, supplements, and Therapeutic Laser Therapy. Reggie, our cat or jumped off the balcony without a parachute, has resumed a happy, active life. Medication and monitoring have allowed him to be seizure-free. If I could write a book about my 16+ years of experience at this hospital, I'd call it "Happy Tails"! Read Less

I have a senior dog and they have been so helpful and kind in caring for my hound! Dr. Lee always makes time to speak with me and the vet techs and front desk staff (Stephanie, Ashley, Trish, Wendy, Lisa, I'm not 100% sure of everyone's name!!) are always welcoming. I have been taking my dog and cat here for over 8 years. The care they have received has always been stellar. They have treated heartworm for my German Shepherd after I rescued her, hyper thyroid for my cat, kidney disease, tumor removals, yearly check ups and I've also boarded my animals here. My boyfriend and I recently adopted a puppy and I wanted to ensure I found an exceptional vet for his care. I am disappointed to say I did not find this here at Antietam Valley Animal Hospital. When arriving at the hospital we were set up in a room right away. (I thought we were off to a good start) The vet that came in was... well I couldn't tell you because he did not introduce himself to myself or my boyfriend.... and worst of all he did not introduce himself to my puppy! He did not greet him or even give him a treat like most vets:( I did not understand this at all. When examining our puppy, he was very impersonal with him and the vet was displeased how he responded to him. He basically informed us that our puppy tends to be one of the meanest breeds (ACD) and may grow up to be "naughty." He stated that ACD dogs tend to have many behavior problems. I was very upset by these words because we only had our puppy for 2 weeks and we gave our puppy a wonderful home. The vet did not seem to care about us sharing about the dog's good habits so far. It has now been a month since we adopted our Cattle dog mix and he is an amazing dog! We could not be happier and I will be in search of a new vet. I do not recommend this hospital if you are searching for a new vet. Read Less

I had been going  here for years and lately have not been happy. We had our dog to a new vet recently and loved them. Right away  we could tell that Antietam was very money hungry. Several things that Antietam wanted me to do tests for this new vet said these things were common in the breed and he was doing very well.  The docs weren't very helpful either they pretty much told us what we already knew when going to an appointment.
