Sanatoga Animal Hospital has been my go to place for care for my dogs since I lived in the Pottstown / Douglassville area and always will be. Dr. Sharma is an amazing person who cares and loves animals; you can tell. He is very thorough, patient, and gentle and also takes the time to explain to pet owner any follow-up treatment needed. His staff is also very friendly and welcoming. I know that whenever I need to bring my dogs in for care (hopefully I won't need to!) that they will be properly taken care of from someone I trust. I first went to Dr Sharma when I found an extremely sick kitten who was only a few weeks old and could barely breath.  The kitten had multiple infections and it was a battle to have her keep food down for weeks. I have been taking my cat to Sanatoga Animal Hospital for 7 years and my puppy for 8 months. Both of my animals have been neutered there and their surgeries went very well. Dr. Sharma is very gentle with my animals even though my cat is not very friendly. I've taken my childhood dog here and now my cat and dog. Always had a good experience and they are really willing to work with you. My cat got an abscess last year and they took him in and got it to drain and now you would never know he had anything done. My do we just got her fixed and yet again very pleasant everyone. I found a 3 weeks old kitten off a road with eye and upper respiratory infections. It has one swollen sealed shut eye. Took it to Dr. Sharma and based on his treatment, we were able to save the kitten but the trouble eye had the 3rd eyelid sealed shut. Once the kitten got older, Dr. Sharma spayed her and at the same time tried to improve the sight of the other eye. I think the kitten can see through it better now than before. Thank you, Dr. Sharma! I came with my dog Luna, she had an appointment to get a wellness check & get her back leg checked, nails clipped and rabies shot. She hurt her leg falling off the couch a few days earlier. Wasnt anything serious though so i waiting for this appointment. A Vet other than dr. sharma was there to fill in for him,because he had be out for 2 weeks ( would have been nice if they would have told me over the phone it would not be the regular vet because i definitely would've WAITED until he was back. I feel that would be the appropriate thing to do is tell you your regular doctor isn't in) This women(the fill in vet) handled my dog terribly. Told me to "hurry up she didnt have all day" when trying to get my dog on the table. She never even greeted or touched my dog when she entered the room-which i thought was odd. She Just sort of grabbed stuff i had to ask , what are we doing first ? Who are you ? Introduce myself ... she tried insisting we didnt need an extra hand in there to hold my 40 lb english bulldog on the table who kept trying to jump off while getting her nails cut. i had to demand her to get someone now- other wise my dog would've be way worse when we left if she would've jumped or fell seeing has her leg was already hurt. And at all my visits with Luna with my old vet prior to here they ALWAYS HAD ANOTHER PERSON THAT HELPED KEEP HER SAFE ON THE TABLE, and i was never forced to be the one to hold my dog down as she stuggled getting her nails cut. It was always my option if i wanted to help hold, and usualy i would just stand in front of her and pet her to keep her calm. They would have 2 other assisants hold her while her nails were cut, because that is very upsetting to have to restrain your own dog when shes scared .THAT OS WHY I DIDNT LIKE DOING IT AT HOME. i assumed a professional would be PROFESSIONAL . The way she handled my dog while cutting her nails was so unprofessional. Never has my dog acted the way she did . She was so stressed and scared . I had to put a stop to it because what she was doing was just putting her in pain. Dr. Sharma was always fine cutting her nails. She never moved a muscle. She then bent my dogs leg in all crazy ways that she left there limping. I have NEVER IN MY LIFE SEEN A VET BEND AND PULL AN INJURED LEG IN THAT MANOR. She left more injured then she was when she arrived. The overall visit was awful. She rushed me out of there. Never showed any compassion for my dog. Nothing ,she backed away from her the second she walked in the door like she didn't want my dog to touch her. She was so unprofessional and inexperienced i will never step foot in there again unfortunately. I don't get a good vibe walking in there, it's always a very negative energy. And they aren't very helpful with your pet when you walk in. If you're struggling by yourself to get your wallet ect. To pay and sign paperwork they will just watch you struggle. I wouldn't recommend this place, i have never felt that type of negative energy at a vet in all my life of owning my pets. I liked Dr. Sharma and the way he handled my dog but i did usually feel like he would rush most of the time. And the women was unexceptable and left such a bad taste with me that i will not go back, i wish the front desk informed me that he was not in. And i feel they should be more aware of who they let fill in at there hospital. If you go here BE CAUTIOUS AND TRUST YOUR GUT IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE DIFFERENT. You know your animal and you know whats right for it and what is safe. Demand what you want for your pet. Or else they could leave SERIOUSLY INJURED. I needed X-rays done before my dogs surgery ( at another facility) I was told that I would need an office visit before they would do an X Ray.I scheduled and was given a quote of $52 for office visit and an estimated $230 for the X Ray.  I got there on time gave them her medical records and went in to see Dr. Patel. Midway though the exam she disclosed that the X-Ray machine was broken and she doesn't know when it will be repaired. When I expressed my concern of not being told that the machine was broken she tells me that she would not have been able to do it in the same visit because she would need to put the dog to sleep in order to do it.I ended the exam and expressed my displeasure, when I went to the counter she was already relaying my incident to the receptionist who insisted that "I" misunderstood. Of course they were happy to declare that I would not be charged for the visit. I made it clear that that was not the point, I was misinformed and that was unacceptable.I sat in my car and in a few minutes scheduled an appointment at another facility for what I needed and I won't need two visits to get it done. They were also quite surprised that I would have had to put my pet under anesthesia to do an X Ray. Apparently it's not necessary especially for a 12 lb dog.Personally I can't recommend this place and as you guessed I won't return. Read Less

I would really like to know who wrote "good luck!" on my pets file. I do expect an answer and an apology. That's very hurtful and very unprofessional. I've been taking my pets there since I was a child. And unfortunately yesterday was a bad day for me, on top of having to take my cat there for a serious condition, my husbands outpatient procedure took a serious turn and he ended up in the hospital. I did give the vet the ok to do a catheter but I said multiple times please wait to do anything else until I can talk to my husband or my husband calls you. So imagine my surprise when I finally had a chance to call to see how my cat was and what they would need to do to make him better, I found out they did X-rays blood work etc. than the doctor and office staff did nothing but speak very unprofessional to me when I was like well we don't have all that money up front to pay, you should have called us to ok it first. I appreciate that they took care of my cat and helped him with his pain, but everything else other than the catheter could have waited until we said yes/no. I highly suggest the doctor and staff learn how to conduct themselves with patients/clients in a more professional manner in the future. My mother in law has been taking her cats to SAH for many years and loves the staff. She recommended SAH to me and I have been taking our 4 dogs and cat there. The staff is always polite and helpful. They are great with our pets and truly have the animals best interest at heart. They have a great online record software so I can access my pets vaccines at any time, track what they have had done, or what they are due to receive. A friend recommended SAH to me - she has taken her dogs there for years, but I have cats and was hesitant until one of my cats developed a hematoma in her ear and needed surgery. So I took her to SAH and was very pleased with the care she received. Last summer I had a terrible flea infestation when one of my indoor kitties escaped for no more than a few minutes, but that was all it took. After trying flea medications available at pet stores I begged for help and SAH came through with the right brand and helped me through a very trying time. My family has been going to SVH for about 16 years now.  We first visited them with a kitty who had been through three rounds of urinary issues with another vet who was recommending a radical surgery. We went to SVH with him, and Dr Sharma had him cured with one round of medication after several months of back and forth with another vet. We've had many more experiences with them, not always perfect, but always in the best interest of our pets. Doc was also able to rehabilitate my moms Labrador who tore her ACL with minimal damage.  He caught my 2 boy cats  heart mummers very early which lead to us medicating their genetic heart conditions as early as possible.   Dr Sharma is a very good vet, who listens to you and takes your questions and feedback into consideration.  We've had a resoundingly consistent, positive experience with this practice.The only serious complaint I have about them is that there is always a wait, weather I'm picking up meds or brining in a pet for an appointment, but I would rather get the best care for my pets, and have to wait a bit.   I highly recommend this practice to anyone with a pet.
