I want to leave the lovely staff here a review since how they treated my husband and myself during our cats death was dignified and caring. Our cat of 22 years suddenly loss all use of his back legs, was screaming in pain and had two seizures. I called this vet office on a word of mouth from patients I had years ago as a health care provider. They took us in as early as they could and calmly explained everything. They let us hold the cat and allowed us all the time we needed once he passed. They even let us out a back door so we didn't have to face the waiting room. They will be getting my business again when I bring my surviving cat back for care here. With having a recent hip replacement I'm not able to drive so my fiance dropped our 1 year old golden retriever off for a grooming. The groomer Nicole came out to get our dog in which my fiance began to explain what we wanted done and she rudly talked over him to tell him,"you want a golden groom". We've never heard of a"golden groom". And with that she left my fiance standing there speechless as she took our dog in the back. He came home to tell me what happend so I called to talk with the groomer Nicole. Needless to say I got the same treatment, she talked over me and when I finally was able to tell her what we wanted she said she understood and again said,"you want a golden groom". I in turn said"I would like what I just explained to you, I want his paws trimmed in between his toes, nails clipped, trim the hair around the ear canal, trim around his wee wee area and his poop hole that's it. When my fiance brought him home she had done much more to him than I asked!! Everything is uneven to boot!! I Am So UPSET WITH THE SERVICE!!!!!!! Unfortunately I had to put my 16 year old cat down.  When I called to make an appointment at Rockhill the girl that answered the phone, I think her name was Stephanie was very unprofessional.  I was explaining to her that my cat was sick and not eating, she gasped loudly.  When I said excuse me? She then apologized.  As if it was traumatic enough for me. The "quiet room" was cold and not very comforting or warm. The vet who performed the euthanasia was very kind and professional.  I did ask for a foot print.  Normally practices would give you the kit and they would stamp the pets name into the clay and you would bake it for it to get hard.  I have no idea what they gave me.  It is like a ball of playdough.  I couldn't even carve my cat's name into it.  It has shrunk and is still soft like a sponge.  I am so upset about. Saw an older male vet, Derstein (sp?) seemed to be the owner. He was a little strange? He seems to care, but that caring was couched in "I'd rather put a pet down if I think its suffering" and that's just NOT how you express concern IMHO. Especially to people who are seeking help and in severe emotional distress at their pet being ill. In any event the diagnosis of our cats health was literally the opposite of what was wrong. His advised treatment would have killed her in days. We felt very uncomfortable and got both a second and third opinion. Both those gave the same diagnosis and helped her have an extra month before we lost her. I hate sharing a negative review; I rarely go below 3 stars because I firmly believe even the worst experience can be an "off day" for an employee. But this instance its too important and serious to just hedge me bets. We're talking life or death of beloved companions, not if our meal was prepared right or if customer service was cordial. Although, I guess all good vets are expensive so it's worth it for our fur babies. Denise and Nicole the groomers are the BEST! My pup DOES NOT like to have his nails trimmed. I have tried several vets/groomers with limited success so my expectations were measured. Last Monday, 11 March 2013, I had to euthanize my 12-year-old cat whom I've had for almost six years. There's no way to make such an event pleasant, but Rockhill did absolutely everything any vet. could do to make the experience as painless and meaningful as it could be for my cat and me. They called us as soon as we came in, gave us as much time as we needed in a special low-lit room, and let me leave through a side exit with a paw imprint, a cardboard coffin and the towel he was swaddled in as he died. I took my kitty Mouth to Rockhill Vet on December 17. Unfortunately, he had to be put down. The staff were very helpful and empathetic. They gave me a clay paw print which I did not expect but cherish. Mouth is usually skittish and combative at vets but Rockhill staff made him feel at peace. They made him comfortable, he was so relaxed. It was my first attendance to a euthanasia but it was extremely peaceful. Mouth was in a lot of pain but never showed it. I think the atmosphere, caring staff and quick experience made his passing bearable. I will be bringing my other cats in for check ups. RIP Mouth. I highly recommend Rockhill Vet. Ive had really good experiences at this vet. The veterinarians are knowledgeable and caring. I have a cat who gets very scared and becomes aggressive whenever I take him to any vet. The vets and nurses at Rockhill are very understanding and gentle with him. They do a great job handling all 3 of my cats and always take time to answer my questions. Also, Rockhill has a very clean office and their evening hours are really helpful with my busy schedule.
