PET OWNERS PLEASE READ If you are a new pet owner and considering vets, DO NOT GO HERE. I will try to keep this short. I brought my old english sheepdog into this office because she was limping. The vet told me she had hipdisplasia because she was a big dog. They put me through six weeks of therapy and hundreds of dollars. I took her back because nothing had changed they told me that maybe she will just be like that for the rest of her life. Really? I don' t think so. So I made them do Xrays and they called me in to tell me she had advanced bone cancer. Dozens of visits, hundreds of dollars, and my dog died shortly after that. I just took my cat there because he was seeming lethargic. The vet chose to run in house testing because she could see the results right away. She called me to tell me she couldn't find anything wrong and gave him an injection of antibiotic. Then they called to get payment and they charged me over 600 dollars. For in house testing that she chose to do for herself and to walk out of there without her even knowing what is wrong. 600 dollars. She should have consulted me before spending that amount of money on testing without me knowing the cost. Its just good practice and courteous. Please do not take your animals there. They are unprofessional and will look for any way to take your money. Please find another local vet you will be better off. I will never step foot back in to that office. Read Less

I am not a regular client of theirs but I am considering very much so to become one. I have brought my dog in to them on 2 occasions where my dog was having problems and my regular vet could not see her for days. Where Sewickley Veterinary Hospital had me come in 20 minutes after I called. I am so grateful for them and their kind and caring attitudes. They also called to check on my dog a few days after our visit. I am so grateful for them. Read Less

I take my 2 cats here. I really like the vet and she seems to be really loving and care about the animals. My little one has a few health issues, and they are reasonably priced for emergency visits. One woman in the office staff has been incredibly rude to me on more than one occasion. I am not sure why, if it is me or if she acts like that toward everyone, but when my little one was sick the last time, we were leaving for vacation (our honeymoon) a week later. The vet gave her medicine for 7 days and we were leaving in 6. I talked to the vet and our plan was to give medicine for 6 days and have the sitter try to give it on the 7th (but, the little cat is the type of cat that the sitter doesn't even know she is there, except that there is food missing from her bowl every day). The vet understood that there was a chance that the 7th day of meds wouldn't be given, and that I was pretty upset about having to leave while she was sick. But this terrible woman made me feel even worse when I asked her a question about leaving the 7th dose in food and she responded with something like, if you really cared, you wouldn't be leaving her while she was on medication. I promptly snatched the meds and walked out. If there was another vet closer, or if my cats didn't hate the car so much, I would probably go somewhere else, not because of the vet, but because of that terrible receptionist.Oh, and this was almost a year ago, and I still get heated when I think about it. Dr. Dismukes is quite possibly the worst vet I have encountered. Her bedside manner is very literally non-existent. They take your dog in a back room and do God knows what to them. Well, one of her very own vet techs told me that she was SITTING on my 110 lb dog to get him to "cooperate", and then comes and tells me how poorly trained he was. I just recently was reccomended Dr. Dutra by PVSEC. I can't express how amazing she is. I felt like I was losing hope with my English Bulldog. I was turned down by numerous vets. Dr.Dutra did his surgery and I have never felt so safe with putting my dog in someone's hand. She made me feel as if my dog was a part of her family. I can't say enough about her. She isn't out to rape your pocket and you can tell she genuinely cares about animals. If you need a vet she is absolutely worth it. I drive over an hour to see her and it is worth every mile.
