Where do I start, well, don't go to this vet, that's a start. He does not handle your pets nicely, dogs or cats. His staff is good, he is far from caring. My cat was just diagnosed with a dental disease by a different vet, that should have been diagnosed by this vet a year ago. Don't think he likes cats, not that he treats dogs any better.

My little dog daisy was 15 years old and had cancer. She had a puffy face so my son took her to Southampton vet because we have been going there. He was loud and a little rough with the dog but other then that he seems ok. She had a bad tooth that needed to come out. The female dr. saw her first and right away she wanted to make an appointment for dental surgery. She also told my son that her heart was very strong. So I called the next day and made an appointment for that Monday and we also gave her pills for an infected tooth. Well dr. Meihofer called and said daisy's blood work looked good and she has a really strong heart so she is good to go. He also told me that there was some risk for the anesthesia but that is with any procedure they do. He again said she was good to go. I thought well he knows what he is doing so she should be ok. That poor little dog wanted water so bad that morning and she could not have it. She left the house fine and he did the procedure . Later that day he calls me to tell me when she woke up she was panting really bad so he took an x-ray of her chest to see if her cancer had spread and that is where he saw that she had an inlarged heart and fluid in her lungs. So he kept asking me didn't you see her panting a lot at home or throwing up and I said no she just was panting a little at night and he said so she was panting a lot at night and you saw that. I said no she just did it a little bit nothing looked wrong. So he then tells me that any dental procedure on any animal is the worst procedure to perform on them because their body is put under such bad stress . I was so shocked that he was telling me this because if I knew that I would not have aloud him to do that procedure. He said she was fine when she came in but bad after she woke up. Why I just do not understand why he did not do an x-ray before the procedure and I think he should know better after 30 years in that business he should of never done the procedure and said I think it is time to maybe put her down. He was also telling me I need to get her to a heart dr. right away. She came home about 5:00 and she was really suffering. One of his workers called about 7:00 and told us she would be like that for about 1 more day. We decided to take her to an animal hospital to see what was going on and as we got ready she was in her bed in my sons room and she let out 3 loud yipes and died. We are just so heart broken that she suffered so much before she died because that should of never happen we should of as a family put her to sleep. He was wrong and I can never forgive him for killing our dog. We paid 1,300.00 and he cashed the checked the next day he just could not wait, but he did not charge us for her cremation wow how big of him and he never said he was sorry. So I am telling everyone to stay away and we will never go there again.

Everybody in this office is amazing can’t say enough good things about them and the care they provided for our dog(who is a high
anxiety 80lb pit mix)....We had an emergency with our dog a few weeks ago and he wasn’t even a patient there yet but they told us to bring him right over and the dr took him into surgery fast to stitch up the cuts in his paw. Everybody in the office was so great with us and with him! we will never take a pet anywhere else after the experience we had with this office. very grateful for all of them.

I would have given this place five stars based on a previous unfortunate emergency visit. The vet and staff were so caring and I passed the name onto everyone I know. I was planning on moving my pets records over to this location based off of the excellent care in my previous experience. My visit today was just ok. I have never been to a vet that was so cold and seemed put out about questions or left the room before asking if there were any questions. Maybe they were just busy today. The office is very clean and the staff are super accomodating and friendly.

After my last visit with the latest Vet that Dr. Myhaufer hired, I was horrified by the amount she wanted to charge me per day for my dog who is 16. I asked her for the previous meds that helped but she only wanted me to use the one she makes a profit from. It was $25 per day. I ordered from 1-800-petmeds and only paid $30 for a 3 month supply. I now understand why so many elderly dogs are in shelters...it's bc of Vets like her. People cannot afford the care. She also does not know pharmacology and thinks that Valium is an opioid. 🤔
In addition, her bed side manners are cold, mean and completely disregards what you say. Do not see this new female vet. I do not recommend this place at all. The quality of care dropped and the front desk girl literally has no emotions and should work at bank rather than a doctor's office. Entirely sad situation how they took advantage of my dogs age and knew I was at her mercy.

I'm one of those "cat moms" who are very protective of who takes care of them or watches my babies when we go away. My mom changed vets years ago & recommended them to me. Once we rescued Cinnamon ( orange tabby ) they became my regular vet. The girls who work the front desk are amazing, always very nice & willing to answer all my questions and if there is an emergency they always make sure they get me in. The doctors here are very knowledgeable and take the time to accurately examine my cats, you never feel rushed. Sadly, we had to put one of our cats we inherited from my father in law down, the kindness and compassion they showed us was truly appreciated. They are a little expensive but they do above quality work and they accept care credit. They also give a multiple pet discount if you bring two or more in the same visit.

If you are looking for a practice that loves animals, and is truly there for your pet, this is the place to go. My Bella had to have an emergency procedure done today, and no one had emergency appointments... except Southampton ~ who is not even our regular vet. The staff is amazing & Bella is recovering... and I think we found a new vet!!!

I have had dogs for 30 years and been to many vets over that time. I've never experienced anything like Dr. Meihofer when I brought my new rescue dog to him awhile back. The dog had been waiting months to be adopted and caged most of that time, so he was timid and scared to start with. Dr. Meihofer entered the room and approached the dog like a hurricane. I've honestly never seen anything like it. He was so overly loud and in my dog's face. When my dog got scared and started to growl, instead of backing off, the vet started to yell at the dog, and at me. This vet has absolutely no sense of how to approach a dog and no intuition for animals in general. Stay as far away as possible from this place. There are way better and kinder vets out there.

If you want someone to yell at you and your dog, this is the place for you. Stay away, vet doctor doesn't know how to handle a dog. Every one else at the clinic is very pleasant though.

My cat was just diagnosed with a dental disease by a different vet, that should have been diagnosed by this vet a year ago. Don't think he likes cats, not that he treats dogs any better.

I would have given this place five stars based on a previous unfortunate emergency visit. The vet and staff were so caring and I passed the name onto everyone I know. I was planning on moving my pets records over to this location based off of the excellent care in my previous experience. My visit today was just ok. I have never been to a vet that was so cold and seemed put out about questions or left the room before asking if there were any questions. Maybe they were just busy today. The office is very clean and the staff are super accomodating and friendly.

After my last visit with the latest Vet that Dr. Myhaufer hired, I was horrified by the amount she wanted to charge me per day for my dog who is 16. I asked her for the previous meds that helped but she only wanted me to use the one she makes a profit from. It was $25 per day. I ordered from 1-800-petmeds and only paid $30 for a 3 month supply. Once we rescued Cinnamon ( orange tabby ) they became my regular vet. The girls who work the front desk are amazing, always very nice & willing to answer all my questions and if there is an emergency they always make sure they get me in. I have had dogs for 30 years and been to many vets over that time. I've never experienced anything like Dr. Meihofer when I brought my new rescue dog to him awhile back. The dog had been waiting months to be adopted and caged most of that time, so he was timid and scared to start with. Dr. Meihofer entered the room and approached the dog like a hurricane. I've honestly never seen anything like it. He was so overly loud and in my dog's face. When my dog got scared and started to growl, instead of backing off, the vet started to yell at the dog, and at me.
