Where do I start, well, don't go to this vet, that's a start. He does not handle your pets nicely, dogs or cats. His staff is good, he is far from caring. My cat was just diagnosed  with a dental disease by a different vet, that should have been diagnosed by this vet a year ago. Don't think he likes cats, not that he treats dogs any better. Read Less

My little dog daisy was 15 years old and had cancer. She had a puffy face so my son took her to Southampton vet because we have been going there. He was loud and a little rough with the dog but other then that he seems ok. She had a bad tooth that needed to come out. The female dr. saw her first and right away she wanted to make an appointment for dental surgery. She also told my son that her heart was very strong. So I called the next day and made an appointment for  that Monday and we also gave her pills for an infected tooth. Well dr. Meihofer called and said daisy's blood work looked good and she has a really strong heart so she is good to go. He also told me that there was some risk for the anesthesia but that is with any procedure they do. He again said she was good to go. I thought well he knows what he is doing so she should be ok. That poor little dog wanted water so bad that morning and she could not have it. She left the house fine and he did the procedure . Later that day he calls me to tell me when she woke up she was panting really bad so he took an x-ray of her chest to see if her cancer had spread and that is where he saw that she had an inlarged heart and fluid in her lungs.  So he kept asking me didn't you see her panting a lot at home or throwing up and I said no she just was panting a little at night and he said so she was panting a lot at night and you saw that. I said no she just did it a little bit nothing looked wrong. So he then tells me that any dental procedure on any animal is the worst procedure to perform on them because their body is put under such bad stress . I was so shocked that he was telling me this because if I knew that I would not have aloud him to do that procedure.  He said she was fine when she came in but bad after she woke up. Why I just do not understand why he did not do an x-ray before the procedure and I think he should know better after 30 years in that business he should of never done the procedure and said I think it is time to maybe put her down. He was also telling me I need to get her to a heart dr. right away. She came home about 5:00 and she was really suffering. One of his workers called about 7:00 and told us she would be like that for about 1 more day. We decided to take her to an animal hospital to see what was going on and as we got ready she was in her bed in my sons room and she let out 3 loud yipes and died. We are just so heart broken that she suffered so much before she died because that should of never happen we should of as a family put her to sleep. He was wrong and I can never forgive him for killing our dog. We paid 1,300.00 and he cashed the checked the next day he just could not wait, but he did not charge us for her cremation wow how big of him and he never said he was sorry. So I am telling everyone to stay away and we will never go there again. Read Less

Everybody in this office is amazing can’t say enough good things about them and the care they provided for our dog(who is a high anxiety 80lb pit mix)....We had an emergency with our dog a few weeks ago and he wasn’t even a patient there yet but they told us to bring him right over and the dr took him into surgery fast to stitch up the cuts in his paw. Everybody in the office was so great with us and with him! we will never take a pet anywhere else after the experience we had with this office. very grateful for all of them. Read Less
