DON'T TAKE YOUR PET HERE if you value a veterinarian (Laureen Pottynski) that cares about you, the customer, has integrity about their business practice, and takes accountability for their staffs communication or lack of communication (Zire Fore - don't know if that is his correct name as he didn't want to give me his name). Laureen literally said to me" I've been in this practice for 24 years and I don't care if you're unhappy". !!!!! I made an appointment a couple of weeks ago to have my dog spayed and was available to work around any day of the week except Friday. Zire gave me an appointment for surgery today (Monday) and told me to bring in my dog in at 10am. No other instructions. He gave me a cost estimate of $285.00. I called this morning to see if I could feed her and was told no, which I expected, but was given no information about how to prepare her for surgery. I arrived with my dog at 10 and was then told by Zire that the vet hadn't gotten back to him and he needed to check on the estimate. In a few minutes, he told me the bill would be around $360.00 (30% higher than what he told me). I was already there with my pet, so agreed to the charge but was not happy. I told him if he wasn''t sure in the beginning, he could have checked and called me back. He did apologize, but he wasn't paying the extra! He told me that my dogs surgery would be at 12:00 and they would call me afterward to let me know how she was doing. He said if I hadn't heard by 3, to give them a call and they would check on her. I called at 3 and he said that she hadn't had surgery yet because of an emergency, but was going in at that time and would be out by 3:30. He then called 15 minutes later and said that I could come pick her up and bring her back tomorrow or they would do her surgery after the emergency. I didn't understand and asked if this was a second emergency that had just come in. He said no, the emergency patient had just come in (so why did he tell me the emergency had come in earlier to delay her surgery to begin with?). I asked him to have the doctor call me when she was finished with her emergency patient. She called around 4 and already had an attitude. I said about 2 sentences before she interrupted me. I told her to go ahead and do my dogs surgery this evening and she said that she didn't want to do it later - that she had other patients scheduled until late. What happened to her committment to the schedule she gave me and my dog who had waited all day? Shouldn't my pets surgery come next before the evening patients? She didn't want to do it and told me she didn't care if I was unhappy. No apology. No accountability. Didn't want to listen to what I had to say and try propose a solution. I do understand about emergencies and told her I would want care for my dog should something happen, but that shouldn't mean that she shouldn't care about other patients that had waited. I ended up going to pick up my dog - no surgery and very upset. The doctor didn't even come out to talk to me in person when I came. THERE ARE OTHER CARING, WONDERFUL VETS OUT THERE. Not really happy right now.  Went in because there was an issue going on and we were worried, but couldn't get in to see our regular vet.  Got right in, saw the Vet, loved her, issue went away.  Then it came back a month later and we called again.  Spoke to the receptionist who said they spoke with the doctor and we didn't need to bring him in for another exam, just another shot.  So we brought him in and got the shot and we were told "there is no charge...it's Christmas, go spend the money on the kids", and we went away LOVING this place....but the issue didn't go away again, so I called the vet again last night.  The Vet had NO idea that the cat was given another injection and even after I explained what happened, she seemed to get an attitude with ME because we didn't pay for the shot.  I told her what happened and she again got mad at ME, because she didn't authorize it.  I can only go by what your staff tells me to do, so please confer with them and stop taking it out on your clients. I called this hospital as an emergency and even though they were pretty packed they found the time to see my dog which is very ill. Once i got there the receptionist was very friendly. Even though the wait period was a bit long i went in at my appointment 6:00 to come out at 8:20pm just for a fluid shot and xray. Overall even though it was bad news for my baby they were very concerned and wanted me to contact them with the results. This will be my place to go to for all my future needs.... Read Less

Pretty sad that the office doesn't have accurate records because one of their employees were stealing and you get yelled at repeated by the veterinarian technician because of their poor documentation. I have never had worse customer service or been yelled at like that. I took my dog and cats to Springfield Animal hospital for over 15 years, sadly the service has gone downhill in recent years. My 15 year old dog was being treated for a skin infection that after 5 months, 2 different antibiotics, and a lot of money, did not clear up. A culture was never done or suggested. There is one tech there who is just a miserable person, he really needs some classes on customer service. My dog was misdiagnosed after being seen. They didn't even offer blood work.  I took my dog to another vet for s second opinion and the vet knew immediately my dog had a horrible Thyroid problem.  Blood work was offered and confirmed.  I wish I never went to Springfield! We brought our dog to Springfield Animal Hospital for 10 years. Luckily, he was very healthy the first 9 years of his life, and our visits were only for annual check-ups. My only complaint with those visits, was the wait time was often very long, which was frustrating. During the last year of his life we were there frequently for various issues, and generally we were seen much more quickly. Not sure if this is due to an improvement in efficiency or sick visits getting priority. I always found the vet to be compassionate and helpful in presenting treatment options, and never felt as though expensive treatments were being pushed. I found pricing to be reasonable, and trusted the vet's input in terms of what options were most reasonable given his age, medical condition, likely outcome of the treatment, and cost of that treatment. In January, we had to make the tough decision to put him to sleep, and felt the vet handled this in a supportive and compassionate manner. The hours offered by the vet are very good for working people, and we were always worked in on days where we needed appts. Read Less

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!! DO NOT  take your pets here.  I bright in my cat with an issue, they gave her a shot told me to come back every two weeks may take up to 5 months to clear the issue. When I walked in and saw how dirty the place was, I should have left then.  After the first shot my cat had a really bad reaction. No problem they said.  I bright her back a second time and something just didn't set right. I was able to get her into another vets office, they fixed her issue by changing her food and NO MEDS which the vet at Springfield said could not be done.,.........IF WE ALL BAN TOGETHER MAYBE WE CAN  GET THEM SHUT DOWN.... I wish there was a way to give this hell hole zero stars. If you expect fast service, i suggest you look elsewhere.  My fiance and i were the only people in the office and we had to wait for over an hour.  My fiance fell asleep. We were only in to get allergy medicine.  What a joke. But that story is mild compared to what i am about to type. My future mother and father in law took their cats to get declawed. One cat came back, and the other cat died. The unfortunate cat was apparently fine for thirty minutes after surgery and then mysteriously died.  Everyone is absolutely crushed over the loss of the cat. He was completely healthy going in for a routine procedure.  If you value your pets life and well being,  please take them elsewhere.  I hope this review saves other pets lives. Read Less

I warn everyone that this is not a place to bring your family. My wife, 2 kids, and 2 dogs went last night. My dogs needed shots.  I receive a call from my wife practically in tears.  My kids were also very upset by the way the guy at the front desk treated and spoke with her. She called me in s.philly to come down because she did not feel safe. I heard the guy screaming at my wife through the phone. The doctor could have cared less. Now I'm reading these other reviews and see that we weren't the only ones with this type of experience. It's out of control and something should be done. Horrible!  Will never go back. Read Less

The office staff in particular the male (37 years old, wears scrubs) was completely rude yelling at me in front of my 8 year old and 3 year old children because I forgot my credit card. They are very competent, nice, and affordable.  Plus, the hourse are great and they will try to accommodate you the day you call.  I've been using them for 16 years and have always been very happy w/ the service.  I've never skimped on anything for my pets so I am not one to look for the cheapest price, but they are very reasonable.  They were very kind and compassionate when my 2 females passed away (ages 15 and 16) within the last six months and the Vet actually "saved" my Persian four "quality" months before she passed.  I totally trust the Vet (Dr. P) - she's VERY competent and knowledgeable.  She's a first rate Vet who charges very affordable prices and never tries to sell you on anything not necessary (unlike some other places I've heard of!).  The staff has always been nice and courteous and I will continue using this Vet.  The ONLY reason I am not giving five stars (b/c I am being unbiased) is that they are not a 24 hour facility.  But then again, a 24 hour facility would have to charge much more across the board for that option. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.  Shame on Yelp for not factoring the other recent 1 star posts into their rating so people looking for a caring veterinarian can know the truth.  This place is an absolute disaster.  I was an employee there a few years back and I left for so many reasons: irresponsibility on behalf of the veterinarian, abrasive management, extremely late paychecks, mistreatment of animals, to name a few.  I am honestly shocked that they are still in business and it makes me sick to my stomach to know that people still go there.  They are completely unethical and care more about the money than they do about any of the animals that walk through that door.  They will accept emergencies knowing full well that they do not have the medication or the staff to handle the issue just to charge the clients and then send them to a facility that can actually help.  The vet is cold, rude, and is assisted by a "technician" who is not equipped with the proper knowledge to be working in that position, I hear he makes medical decisions these days too.  Under his and the vet's supervision, a number of pets died under anesthesia during routine procedures.  These are just snapshots into how awful this place is.In all honesty, this place is the reason I will forever be skeptical of veterinarians and request that I see all surgical rooms, boarding facilities, etc. before even making an appointment for my pets.  And if you love your own pets, I suggest you do the same and stay far away from this place despite their "convenient" hours.  Wait a few days for an available appointment at another location or spend the extra dollars at a reputable emergency facility, it will probably save your pet's life in the long run. I took my cat to get her nails trimmed here. It was my first time & no one asked me for her rabies or vaccination papers which I thought was odd. (Its standard procedure everywhere else) As I sat in the waiting room of this run-down looking "hospital" I could hear my cat wailing in the back. Not once, not twice but a few times. (Side-note: my cat gets her nails trimmed every 2-3 weeks so she's pretty comfortable with grooming) My girlfriend attempted to stop the procedure but no one answered her knocks on the door. When the vet tech finally came out with our cat, he reassured us that nothing happened & everything was fine. When we got in the car, she was shedding clumps of hair and seemed extremely stressed. We examined her paws & that is when we realized that one paw was bleeding. My girlfriend went back to speak to them & the tech at the front desk was sleeping on the counter. She had to wake him up & he had a pretty lazy, unapologetic attitude about the whole thing. She asked to speak to a manager who came out, rolled her eyes as she asked, "what's the problem?" The problem is that #1, we should have been notified that her paw was cut BEFORE we walked out the door, #2 say you're sorry and #3 offer a refund. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. This place is horrible. Went in once to get my cat nails clipped. First, the vet tech came out in a rush, grabbed my cats carrier and while rushing to get to the back with her banged her carrier against the door. Next thing I hear were blood curling screeches from a cat who I couldn't have ever imagined was mine! When my cat came out she was was so scared I've never seen her this way. When I asked if that was her the tech said yep and quickly dismissed me as I swiped my card. When i got home I saw blood all over the crate, and my cat. Two of her toes were bleeding profusely and she was limping! I went back to that hell hole and guess what? The tech was sleeping at the from desk!! I demanded to speak to the owner which apparently is one of the vets there. What an old hag she was. She rolled her eyes and said they've been doing this for twenty years blah blah blah but she too seemed like she couldn't care less. Never will I bring another animal here again. I wish I never went there, I had just moved across the street from this animal hospital and had to board my pet over night ,so she would not escape ,while the movers were bringing in my furniture and boxes, so I walked over to springfield vet hospital  and left my dog to board, they would not let me see where she would be kept,that made me upset, what do they have to hide ,every other place  I ever boarded at would gladly let you see their kennel area, the office stunk and I`m sure the kennel smelled worse, but I was desperate.        Went to pick up my dog first thing in the morning ,when they were suppose to be open for business , but waited 20 minutes before someone drove up and I thought it was the vet or one of the workers instead it was another client who had an appointment, she told me she was only there to pick up her records because she has had the worst vet care ever at this place,and they were mad  that she had asked for her records and they would not fax them to her new vet,instead she had to make an appointment to pick them up,and one of the reasons she was leaving the practice was because they always open late and then are so rushed to make up for lost time,She said Bob Alford,the assistant ,along with the vet are the rudest people and the office never opens on time because Bob said he has a suspended drivers license for mutiple dui`s , which he bragged  about,and the vet who lives in Media drives everyday to Chichester to pick him and his 4 year old daughter up, the child sits in the office everyday when she should be in school.      So many dangerous things like, animal bites, parasites, diseased animals  etc. needles on the floor,she also runs around the office barefoot and a bikini, anything can happen to a child, I wonder how the vet would explain that to her insurance company.     Well now I have been waiting 45 minutes past their opening time ,when some teenage kid pulls up and goes around back closes the door and never lets either of us in, so I called on the phone 3 differant times, still no answer, then I banged on the door so hard and he finally opened it, I said "give me my dog, who I could hear barking, he said ,"I can not , I am not allowed to bill clients or handle money." I said," get my dog now or I`m calling the police, he came back with my dog ,who was covered in feces and urine." I know my dog was never taken out of that cage to relieve herself, she also had a hoarse voice from barking all night and drank 3 large bowls of water, also the food I packed for her was still sitting on the counter where I left it.I have boarded my dog many times over the years and she never looked or acted like this when I would pick her up unexpectally at many other boarding and veterinary practices, I felt so bad for leaving her there. I told that kid ,his name is David to get the vet on the phone and he said ,"I don`t know her phone number, I said," suppose their was an emergency like a fire what would you do, he just stared at me and said that would probaly be the best thing that could happen to this place, they are almost bankrupt anyway, the vet never returned any of my numerous calls to the office , so beware , don`t ever go there for anything, also David should clean the place it was full of hair, dust, and stench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only good thing I can say is that they have great hours, they are open really late which is great for working folks. I think the staff and vet must be different from when the other glowing remarks were made; it seems that the business may have changed significantly since the other reviews were written.  The staff is unprofessional and does not communicate with the vet even if both dog parents spoke with them. Vet seems overworked & exhausted & irritated to answer questions. We will be finding a new vet & I would not recommend taking your pet here. Read Less

THE WORST! If you love your pet, do not bring them here. I had been going once a year with my cat and they have been going downhill with each visit. This morning I had an ER situation with another of my cats. I checked the website and it said they opened at 8am, so I got there a few min after. Was told a nurse was on their way in by 8:30 and vet would be in at 9. By 9:15 the receptionist got in and was a f-ing idiot! Did I mention it was an emergency? I took my kitty and went to Old Marple where I was seen right away, then given a referral to the emergency hospital at Penn where I got real vets.I had seen Dr. Omar before and he was OK, but apparently he's not there anymore. I will be looking for a new regular vet and going to Old Marple, or straight to Penn for emergencies.I can't believe Springfield is still in business with how poorly run it is and how STUPID their new staff is. I want to first of all thank Stephanie M. for her review which helped me to feel more at ease in taking my kittens here. I just moved to the area and was not sure what vets where good and weren't. I ended up coming to Springfield animal hospital after the first vet I went to went less then satisfactory. Here I felt that the vetinarian was very patient, helpful, and knowledgable as I had many many questions since I am a first time cat owner. They are both scheduled to get fixed and declawed in a few weeks so I will update after that ...but so far so good and  I would definately recommend Springfield Animal Hospital to anyone. Read Less

I live in Center City and this hospital is 20-30 minutes away, depending on traffic--yet I will not take my dogs anywhere else. The staff here truly cares about my pets (and any other furry critter that comes through the door). We had a scuffle at my house a few days ago where the stray I picked up attacked one of my dogs and left him bleeding from the eye. We called ahead and when we arrived they whisked us away to a room that was already set up for us. They had him cleaned up and treated in a matter of minutes, gave both pups chewies and sent us out with pills and ointments (they have a full pharmacy). They never suggest unnecessary procedures or meds. They also have a state-of-the-art laser for surgery; when my boys got neutered I think they had only two tiny stitches each. Also, their prices seem much more reasonable than Center City vets. My dogs love going to see Dr. Omar--imagine, dogs that get excited about going to the vet! Read Less
