Our fur baby had a stroke on a Sunday morning and from the intial phone call until the time we left the office, the staff helped make an unpleasant situation a bit better. Unfortunately we had to put down our beloved family dog, Fluffy. In an extremely trying time, the staff and Doctor couldn't have been any nicer. The doctor professionally laid out all of my options and in a vulnerable moment actually recommended that we put her down so she wouldn't suffer. As I was trying to do anything to prolong the inevitable, she could have talked me into spending anything. To her credit, she had extreme integrity and guided our family to the right decision. We just received a card from the doctor with paw prints included. The card was hand written and extremely caring and considerate. They did a great job in helping out with an emergency I had with my dog when we had a bad snow storm and they were the only vet open. I was there a total of 3 hours and it is pricey. I have decided to post this review about my veterinary hospital of over twenty years. I recently brought my new puppy there to be spayed. I was initially dissatisfied with the lack of communication about her recovery process. I was told different things by two different employees I spoke with. I felt as if my questions and concerns were not being heard and I was being €yessed€. I was also informed that her nails had been cut after the spay. I was confused because they had just been done two days prior.Dr. E. expressed that cutting her nails was difficult because they were black. At no point was there any mention that she had been hurt. When I picked up Sky I was shocked to see her condition. Her paws were completely covered with crusty dry blood and her nails had been cut way below the quicks. Her paws had also been covered with white powder in what I imagine was a crude attempt to lessen the bleeding. It was horrifying to look at and no doubt caused her immeasurable pain.Whoever cut her nails clearly could not see straight. I immediately contacted the office where I was told by Jamie R. (manager) that it was complimentary and standard procedure. They refused to tell me who had cut her nails and said that they did not know. I sincerely doubt that this would not have been documented. I found this to be very disturbing as whoever cut them is in severe need of proper training on technique. They had no right to administer this additional and unrequested service. Furthermore, they have no right to not document who is handling the animals. The fact is that they do know and have chosen not to provide me with the information to me a paying customer. Jaime R. (manager) felt the need to change their whole protocal after this incident protecting them against their next incident.The fact is that they should notify any customer of €any€ additional procedures whether they are complimentary or not and notated. During the follow up appointment, Dr. E. who performed the surgery clearly told me that she had no idea who cut my pup€s nails.I find that hard to believe since it was her following up call after the procedure notifying me that her nails were nut.All lies!! After conveying my displeasure to the staff I was offered a credit of $50. As of today 3/23/2017, this has still not been processed.What an insult after being a loyal customer of 20 years, 3 dogs and spending well over 30K in procedures.Meanwhile, the procedure itself only cost $400.00. In closing, I will €never€ be returning and wanted other pet owners to know about the apparent standard of care offered by VCA Old Marple.This has nothing to do with the money but how I was handled and insulted by management. I cannot say enough about Dr. Altmeier. I brought in a stray that I found that was in bad shape. The receptionists and nurses was so kind and Dr. Altmeier was one of the best veterinarians I have ever met. He treated that poor cat with such dignity and was so compassionate. Dr. Mike genuinely cared and he sent the most beautiful sympathy card to me. The last hours of that stray cat's life were surrounded by some of most caring people. Thanks to VCA's Best Care Wellness package, a very small growth was discovered on my dog. The experience these veterinarians bring to the table is incredible...would have thought nothing of it but the vet suggested aspirating it and a mast cell tumor was found. Fast forward to surgery and pathology revealed very low grade tumor with clean margins! Her Wellness package xrays showed no spread of the disease and the blood work done right then and there got us to surgery so quickly! Without the benefit of this annual wellness plan, this could have been so much worse. My dog owes her good outcome and very good prognosis to VCA Old Marple and I owe my peace of mind to them. As a pet owner, I have the utmost trust and respect for the veterinary team there. From Front to Back, their compassion never wavers and they go above and beyond to treat both your pet and us nervous owners:) If there were 10 stars to be given...wow, you earned it! Absolutely love it. Such a welcoming environment, these people really really do care about your pets. Every time I bring my kitty Kokomo in, at least a couple associates stop in their tracks to ask if they can meet her. They give me great advice and have a very reasonable wellness care plan that has made everything so much easier for me and my baby. So glad I found them! Read Less

So I was skeptical to come to this place because of the reviews. Glad I decided to take a chance. The staff was extremely nice and obviously cared about my sick cat. The prices are reasonable. They honored my "first free exam" coupon which was very convenient. The nurse that helped me and my cat was very kind and gentle and the veterinarian gave me options when it came to treatment plans. I could not afford the whole plan so she told me what she recommended was priority and that it was ok to come back for everything little by little. VCA Old Marple once again did a great job taking care of my puppy. We dropped off Grimlock to get neutered and they took amazing care of him. He's already fully healed and now he's playing with his brand new squeaky toy that the hospital gave him. He loves it! Dr. Flemming did an wonderful job and Donna was phenomenal!! It was 9:00 at night when I noticed my cat had suddenly gone blind and his left eye was filled with blood. I rushed him to VCA to see what was the matter. The doctor looked at him for about 5 minutes and then gave the technician a list of $2000 worth of treatments that they recommended. I was told to check off the ones that I wanted them to do. I didn't know what to do (I'm not a veterinarian) so I opted for blood work. My cat was very thirsty so I then asked for a little water for him. I was told they would get it later on. I asked can't he have a little water right now. The technician said she would get it when she had time. So, I took my cat, paid the $137 for the office visit and left with no treatment. I truly love this facility. The people here are warm and caring. They make you and your pet feel important, part of the family. I recently had my Morkie puppy neutered. They kept him overnight and half of the next day to ensure that he was comfortable and there were no problems. I heard from other coworkers that their Vets sent there pets home right after the surgery. Also, note I found out my Bentley spent very little time in the crate. Why??? Because the staff cares and they spent time with him. In addition when I picked him up they sat with me and reviewed the process and what I needed to do for followup care. Starting with the ladies at the front desk to the amazing doctors and their assistants, you will fall in love these people. And more important you will definitely trust them. I take my 2 cats to VCA Old Marple and they are so nice and accommodating. They also do a very good job answering all my questions and keeping us well educated on our animals/problems that arise. I love them so much that I try and refer anyone I know in the area to them, especially my brother who has a dog and has been displeased in the past with a vet clinic in Haverford, PA. I rarely use this vet, only when absolutely necessary. However, instead of going to my regular vet to have my dog's nails clipped, I made an appointment with Old Marple vet since they had a 3 o'clock appointment on Saturday while my vet was closed. I was told to bring my dog's rabies certificate for they did not have this on file as they are not my regular vet. I arrived at 3 to an empty waiting room and realized that I had forgotten to bring the cetificate. I was told to scan it to them after the appointment when I got home. I agreed, but then I was told they could not clip my dog's nails without the certificate. I found the rabies tag in a pocket of my pocketbook. This is the tag I had received in Feb 2015 when my dog got the 3 - year rabies vaccine. The receptionist said fine and took the tag into the technician. But it seems this was not acceptable for the technician said the tag did not have my dog's name oni t. Surely, these vets know that no rabies tag is personalized -- each one has a serial number instead. Frustrated, I drove home for the certificate. 20 minutes later I returned, but it seems that an emergency had come inn while I was driving home and that the emergency takes precedence over a nail trim.(of course) The receptionists had no idea how long the emergency would taer and said I could wait. I left, swearing to never return to this practice. I realize that I had forgotten the certificate, but why the rabies tag (dated 2015) was not sufficient is beyond me. In the future I will continue to use my neighbor vet for even though Old Marple's hours are more convenient, it seems to me that they do not try to accommodate or work with the pet owners who go there. a one-star out of 5 rating! Very happy with the services we've received here. We moved to the area and almost immediately had to put one of our dogs down. The staff was so fantastic and accommodating. Dr Aldinger is so compassionate and truly loves the animals. We will continue taking our other dogs here. The new renovations to the building are beautiful! Read Less
