The first two times I had to take my cats to this vet, they were actually VERY lovely. The prices were MUCH more reasonable than other Vets in Monroe County, never had to wait long and the vet was always very good with my cats. HOWEVER, that being said, idk WHAT HAPPENED but the LAST time I was there, what a 360! My senior cat Muggles had suddenly broke into violent seizures the night before. She NEVER had a seizure before in her entire life so it was right out of no where, she was always a healthy cat. At the time, I actually had no clue we had Barton Heights Emergency vet. The only vets I knew about was this one, Creature Comforts, Brodheadsville and Mount Pocono. All we could do was wait it out and try to keep Muggles comfortable until our vet (which was THIS one) to open the following morning. By morning, our poor Muggles was completely brain dead from her seizures. We didn't have money for some expensive surgery, and she was very old so we decided to just take her in to be humanely put down so she didn't suffer. When I say brain dead, she was LIMP. If you didn't see her breathing up close, you would assume instantly she had passed. She didn't even need to be put in a carrier despite normally being skittish, she had lost all brain function to her limbs and neck. And she couldn't even move her eyelids. Again, we have NO idea how this came about, she was spayed, healthy, a strict indoor cat...so it was devastating. When 8 AM hit, I called Stroudsburg Animal Hospital first thing...and wow. Not only did the receptionist who answered me have a HORRIBLE attitude despite I was very shaky and almost crying when I called and she could hear it in my voice, and knew the situation, but she said "We only have a 4 PM appointment" in the coldest and most nonchalant tone I'd ever heard, even though it was an emergencyAt the time, I knew we had other vets, and believe me we tried calling all the ones we knew about, and either they couldn't see her or their fees were so expensive we could never afford it. I do admit I should have thought about googling other vets in the area, ones I didn't know about but please understand I was distraught and couldn't think clearly, and I regret it to this day. 4 PM FINALLY comes, Muggle is still alive but brain dead, and we drive to this vet...and oh my god. The ROAD we NORMALLY take to this vet is CLOSED! No detour, just completely CLOSED! It was a NIGHTMARE! My car is old and doesn't have a fancy GPS, and my phone is currently has no wifi. So we were stuck doing it the old fashioned way by asking random people for directions to a different route. Everyone in the area sent us on a wild goose chase, and we just could NOT find this vet on a different route! We had called Stroudsburg animal hospital, explained the situation and all they could say was "Well you're late so we can't see her now" No suggestions of an emergency vet to try, NOTHING! Finally, someone at a pharmacy told us about Barton Heights, which happened to just be half a mile down the road from where we were.We took Muggles to Barton Heights, and they were WONDERFUL! Not only was the fee CHEAPER than Stroudsburg Animal Hospital's, but they were very kind, compassionate, and took my cat in no questions, they gave us a free casket and paw print mold, and they were extremely sweet people. But here's the real kicker and why I'm no longer taking my cats to Stroudsburg Animal Hospital. Even though this was our regular vet, and they KNEW the USUAL route most people take to get to their office was CLOSED, and even though my dying cat's 'appointment' wasn't until 4 that afternoon...not ONE person, not a receptionist, a nurse, or the vet, CALLED ME to let me know Aspen road was CLOSED. They had my phone number, they had ALL day to call me back and alert me of this, but they didn't. If they would have done that, I would have printed out directions from Google Maps on my computer of a DIFFERENT ROUTE! My cat suffered longer than she needed to because of Stroudsburg Animal Hospital and their SERIOUS lack of basic communication with their patients. Thank God for Barton Heights, do NOT take your pets to Stroudsburg, and I'm honestly not surprised by so many other poor reviews. Read Less
