This vet clinic deserves a -1 star. I brought my cat in for yearly shots. I asked him to look at her ears which he ended up shoving a really long qtip in my cats ear and cat seemed uncomfortable. Dr. Said cats ears look great. Well as soon as i walk in my door my cat starts yowling in pain, throws up and is just yowling. I looked at her eyes and the pupil sizes were different. I called the vet and they hung up on me. I ended up taking cat to metropolitan vet where they diagnosed her with horners syndrome and one side of her face was paralyzed for a month. He also punctured her eardrum. Only way cats get horners syndrome is from trauma to the head, usually getting hit by car or in our case Dr. Walker. He never apologized. My cat still twitches to this day. He sucks as a veterinarian. Dont go to gateway animal hospital!!!

Ill keep this nightmare as short as possible. Brought my cat to Dr. Walker for distemper/rabies shot and wellness exam 2 years ago. He gave her shot and checked cat out. I asked him if we should clean her ears cause i thought they were a little waxy. He then took huge long qtips and started really digging in her ears to the point i said something to him. He said she had a clean bill of health and we left. As soon as i got home and let cat out carrier she started howling and when i looked at her her pupils were different sizes. I called his after hour line since we literally just left his office and a girl answered and was talking all slow wanting to know what was wrong. All i could do was give her my name and number for Dr. Walker to call me back asap. She hung up on me. I tried calling her back and she wouldnt answer. I had to call my mom and have her call from a different number to get them to answer the phone. By the time dr. Walker called back i was already at metropolitan. Here the vet punctured my cats ear drum and has caused my cats face to twitch to this day! He never apologized but he did pay for half the cost of emergency care. My cat is still messed up years later.

Dr. Rae and Dr. Roland are so good at what they do! When we first adopted our rescue Hound dog, Dr. Rae gave him the most thorough assessment. He required many trips back to their office in 2018 and they always found a way to squeeze him in, address his malady and send us on our way. Our puppy has seen Dr. Walker who's provided equally outstanding veterinary care. Finally, This place would not be able to function without the rockstars at the front desk. Wow. I have never felt so humiliated ever by a staff like this. My dog has hot spots and we took him here to get him the help he needs. We were given medicine but, we WERE NOT given an E-COLLAR. Therefore, he scratched open a wound and the heat spots all came rushing back. We went back to the vet to complain. And the staff was blaming me that it was our fault? That I should of been more responsible watching him scratch open wounds.....That's what the e-collar is for? They did not want to admit to this mistake. Instead, Vet Dave, came into the conversation very unprofessionally and told me to never come back to his store...
This is NOT how you fix this problem or what you say to your guest? Well, you don't have to worry. We'll go to a vet that has people that know how to treat their guest. And Veterinarians, that know to give dogs with hot spots medicine and an e-collar to preavent scratching and spreading of the open wounds...moron

Tried many vets around Chester County for my three rescue dogs and nobody compares!By the way, if you take your dog on a plane, Lynne at the office will get your USDA papers arranged ASAP. Seems like she is the only one who actually has international and domestic import regulations down. Makes it so much easier for a pet owner.

I love my animals obsessively and when I take my pets there I could not feel more confident that everyone who works there will care for them like I do. The staff at Gateway cared for Yoda, one of our cats for several years, helping him through several illnesses. Sadly, we had to have him put to sleep two weeks ago. While we miss the little guy, we can't help but appreciate the extra years that the staff at Gateway gave to him. Dr Walker is as good to my dogs as to me. Really helped me go through it. And, for working with my 20 lb aggressive dog all the time is something special. I am so glad he is not getting kicked out! The staff and doctors at Gateway are fantastic. Any time I've had an issue - emergency or routine - they have been friendly, courteous and most importantly: knowledgeable. They really seem to care about their patients and overall the prices for their services are very reasonable. They're also very accommodating with special requests - for example my dog had a lot of issues accepting shots and they figured out to use a smaller needle and now he doesn't even flinch. The two times I've had emergency situations they were able to get us right in and diagnose and treat the issues.

I did a large amount of research on vets prior to picking up our French Bulldog puppy. The majority recommended Gateway, and I have more than pleased. The doctors at Gateway are caring and thorough and listen to your concerns. I recently brought my male Frenchie in for neutering, and I brought with me a recommended anesthesia protocol from the French Bulldog rescue network as Frenchies are sensitive to anesthesia and meds. Dr. Walker was receptive to the protocol and took extra precaution with my dog, and the surgery went perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend Gateway Animal Hospital.

Having had pets for the last 25 years, by FAR, my best veterinary experience has been with Gateway Animal Hospital.
In New Jersey, I had one great vet that retired, then many years with two different vets that I dreaded every visit. They nickel and dimed you for every little pinch, prod or poke and always under-quoted the price of procedures like cyst removal, hernia repair, and urine checks. the vets rushed you out the door and the front desk staff left much to be desired.
From their courteous front desk staff, pleasant environment, wonderful vets and fair pricing, I cannot say enough about them. Whether it is a question, a call because of a concern, or just a regular check up, they are always willing to speak to you and make you not feel rushed.

From the docs to every memebr of the staff--they are the best! Not only are they skilled and practiced, they are loving (to humans as well as animals). I trust them completely and have been a loyal customer for many years. Also, unlike many vets in the area, they are very reasonable and do not charge more than necessary. They also do not push for expensive procedures if they are not required and wiill always work with you to find treatment that works for your budget as well as the health and well being of your animal. I came to this office on the recommendation of a co-worker. I guess I should have let them know this, and maybe they would have been a little more welcoming. There are no social skills with the vets at this office. They do what they have to do, but honestly, I've never been treated more coldly by any healthcare professional. I don't think it's me, as I am also in healthcare, and I've learned how to shake someone's hand upon entering a room (not done here), and introduce myself (also not done here). I wasn't even sure if I was speaking to the vet or the vet technician when they walked into the room. This happened with both Dr Walker and Dr Brenner. The care that my cat received was adequate, but a lot was overlooked. If you know your pet, and don't agree with what you are told, you have to keep pushing for what you think should be done as far as tests, etc. Lesson learned.

I absolutely LOVE Gateway Animal Hospital. Our family has been taking our four-legged family members there for years. They are thorough and exceptionally caring. My dog Sage recently had a stroke and things looked pretty dim. One of the vets (who is absolutely amazing, Amy) helped Sage and the rest of our family through the crisis and Sage has recovered as well as any 13 year old puppy could :) The practice has a great staff, is incredibly supportive, and had a vast and outstanding knowledge of animals. I wouldn't trust any other Vet with the care of my little loved ones. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I read the reviews prior to coming in after hearing of Gateway from my patients. On the phone - I was told there wasn't an appointment for a week - but when I told them my Bassett had no use of his back legs, they got me right in. The staff was so nice and they got me right back. The doctor talked to me briefly - but mainly focused on my dog. After a quick xray - they gave me some meds for him and seemed genuinely concerned. Very nice facility and great team!

And they were so kind when Hobiecat left us.Now we take P Kitty to the Gateway - all the doctors are outstanding. I been taking my animals to the Gateway Animal Hospital, more specifically Dr. David Walker, for the past 15 years.The new building is great! It is bigger, seems cleaner - and everyone seems happy with the new space. It is also easily accessible from several different areas and has plenty of ample parking. The front desk assistants are always friendly, and will help to answer any questions. I have always been able to make an appointment for the same day, or next day if needed. When my dog needed stool samples looked at, I was given the option to drop them off whenever, and I could even wait in the office while they were analyzed.The pricing is also very competitive - if not downright cheaper than most other vets.Dr. David Walker is as good as they get. The first thing my dog likes to do when he gets into the room is to lick his face for about 5 minutes. Dr. Walker has a great connection with the animals - a very calming one. He is careful to answer any and all questions, and has spent upwards of 45 minutes with me - making sure all my questions were answered about my new pup.Everyone here has become like family in the last few years - especially dealing with the end-of-life issues from my first childhood dog. They let us come in and visit her multiple times while she was fighting for her life, and let us have as much time as we needed when it came to letting her go. Looking back on it, I am so thankful to have such understanding and compassionate people there during such difficult times.I know that pets are family - so ask around, and try them out if it feels right. I have always recommended Dr. Walker to friends and family, and will continue to go to him for my vet needs.

My family has taken our pets to Gateway Animal Hospital for years, and when I got pets of my own, I began taking them here too. Everyone who works here, from the people at the front desk to the doctors, are incredibly nice and do a fabulous job. I always recommend them to friends and family when they are looking for a new vet.Shortly after I got my cats, one of them had crystals in his urine and had to be hospitalized for a few days. Everyone at Gateway was great about letting my husband and I come in and visit him every day (while he had an IV in his little kitty arm), and they were able to treat his condition and have helped us manage it ever since. Because he now eats prescription food, I am in the office regularly to stock up, plus our cats are on different schedules for their annual check-ups, so it seems like we're there quite a lot. Everyone remembers us and knows and loves our cats. They are very accommodating when it comes to scheduling.Shelley is the vet we usually see, and she is great - very sweet, knows us well (the cats as well as my husband and I), and really explains things and answers questions. We never feel rushed or like she doesn't have time for us. I have also seen Amy several times when Shelley wasn't available, and she was also great. And when my family had dogs, they saw Dr. Walker. Part of being a pet owner, unfortunately, is dealing with their end-of-life issues, and all the vets here are so caring and understanding when it comes to this time, as well. Their new office is in a slightly less convenient location for me, but it is a large, modern building; everything is clean and new; and they have lots of space for exam rooms, operating rooms, records, kennels, etc. Also be sure to say hello to their resident parrot, and don't be surprised if you are greeted by one of the office cats.Regarding the reviewers who are commenting that the vet was not able to see them on short notice, I just wanted to point out that this is not an emergency vet. There are emergency vets around here and Gateway will refer you to them and take the records later to follow up with you and the patient. However, when I came into possession of a stray kitten, they were able to schedule an appointment for the next morning for an exam and to neuter him (and he's now sleeping peacefully next to me).

I have been coming to Gateway for over 10 years, and they have taken great care of my cat and dog's needs. Dr. Brenner is so sweet and great with my dog, who is terrified of the vet, and my cat, who can be a nightmare on Elm St. They' ve just moved to the new office on Croton, but the service is great as always. The staff are excellent, very caring, and great at answering my questions (with plenty of reassurances since I tend to fret and panic when my pets aren't feeling well) . When my cat was sick with a stomach virus, they were very thorough with administering the necessary fluids and medications, and kept him overnight until he was fully recovered. I also love the immunization reminders that they mail; they are so helpful in keeping track of my pets' shots, etc.

I really like his laid back manner and the way he loves animals.I find that the ladies at the front desk have always been very pleasant and greet my dog as an old friend and when I come in to pick up medicine they always ask about my dog more so then they ask about me. Smile. I had to see Amy Brenner once when I needed to go in for a quick unscheduled appointment that they fitted me in for. She was just as professional as Dr. Dave and assured me that what I was concerned about was normal, but if I wanted to get into it she would do more testing.I do not find the office dirty I would say it is old fashioned and needs updating. And I suppose that is why they are moving to a new location. And I am sad as it will be further away from my home.I read over Amanda D.'s review and I have to mention that my previous dog died of cancer. It is a disease that is very hard to diagnose. An emergency clinic I took my dog to did not find anything wrong with him initially, but when I got home from vacation and took him to my previous vet - after extensive blood work over a weeks' period of time they found the rare cancer. Even chemotherapy could not save him. I did not blame the emergency clinic. They did not think that his symptoms would be cancerous.Even with human medicine it is trial and error.

All their vets, Dave, Amy & Shelly, are three of the best vets I've ever know... more importantly, that my animals have ever known! We have multiple dogs, cats and a parrot and have been going to them for 22 years with our pets. Their unparalleled diagnostic and surgical skills, coupled with the obvious love and care, have been critical in keeping my babies healthy and living longer. Don't know what I'd do without them.

This vet clinic deserves a -1 star. I brought my cat in for yearly shots. I asked him to look at her ears which he ended up shoving a really long qtip in my cats ear and cat seemed uncomfortable. Dr. Said cats ears look great. Well as soon as i walk in my door my cat starts yowling in pain, throws up and is just yowling. I looked at her eyes and the pupil sizes were different. I called the vet and they hung up on me. I ended up taking cat to metropolitan vet where they diagnosed her with horners syndrome and one side of her face was paralyzed for a month. He also punctured her eardrum. Only way cats get horners syndrome is from trauma to the head, usually getting hit by car or in our case Dr. Walker. He never apologized. My cat still twitches to this day. He sucks as a veterinarian. Dont go to gateway animal hospital!!!

Ill keep this nightmare as short as possible. Brought my cat to Dr. Walker for distemper/rabies shot and wellness exam 2 years ago. He gave her shot and checked cat out. I asked him if we should clean her ears cause i thought they were a little waxy. He then took huge long qtips and started really digging in her ears to the point i said something to him. He said she had a clean bill of health and we left. As soon as i got home and let cat out carrier she started howling and when i looked at her her pupils were different sizes. I called his after hour line since we literally just left his office and a girl answered and was talking all slow wanting to know what was wrong. All i could do was give her my name and number for Dr. Walker to call me back asap. She hung up on me. I tried calling her back and she wouldnt answer. I had to call my mom and have her call from a different number to get them to answer the phone. By the time dr. Walker called back i was already at metropolitan. Here the vet punctured my cats ear drum and has caused my cats face to twitch to this day! He never apologized but he did pay for half the cost of emergency care. My cat is still messed up years later.

Dr. Rae and Dr. Roland are so good at what they do! When we first adopted our rescue Hound dog, Dr. Rae gave him the most thorough assessment. He required many trips back to their office in 2018 and they always found a way to squeeze him in, address his malady and send us on our way. Our puppy has seen Dr. Walker who's provided equally outstanding veterinary care. Finally, This place would not be able to function without the rockstars at the front desk. Wow. I have never felt so humiliated ever by a staff like this. My dog has hot spots and we took him here to get him the help he needs. We were given medicine but, we WERE NOT given an E-COLLAR. Therefore, he scratched open a wound and the heat spots all came rushing back. We went back to the vet to complain. And the staff was blaming me that it was our fault? That I should of been more responsible watching him scratch open wounds.....That's what the e-collar is for? They did not want to admit to this mistake. Instead, Vet Dave, came into the conversation very unprofessionally and told me to never come back to his store...
This is NOT how you fix this problem or what you say to your guest? Well, you don't have to worry. We'll go to a vet that has people that know how to treat their guest. And Veterinarians, that know to give dogs with hot spots medicine and an e-collar to preavent scratching and spreading of the open wounds...moron

Dr Walker is as good to my dogs as to me. Really helped me go through it. And, for working with my 20 lb aggressive dog all the time is something special. I am so glad he is not getting kicked out! The staff and doctors at Gateway are fantastic. Any time I've had an issue - emergency or routine - they have been friendly, courteous and most importantly: knowledgeable. They really seem to care about their patients and overall the prices for their services are very reasonable. They're also very accommodating with special requests - for example my dog had a lot of issues accepting shots and they figured out to use a smaller needle and now he doesn't even flinch. The two times I've had emergency situations they were able to get us right in and diagnose and treat the issues.

I did a large amount of research on vets prior to picking up our French Bulldog puppy. The majority recommended Gateway, and I have more than pleased. The doctors at Gateway are caring and thorough and listen to your concerns. I recently brought my male Frenchie in for neutering, and I brought with me a recommended anesthesia protocol from the French Bulldog rescue network as Frenchies are sensitive to anesthesia and meds. Dr. Walker was receptive to the protocol and took extra precaution with my dog, and the surgery went perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend Gateway Animal Hospital.

Having had pets for the last 25 years, by FAR, my best veterinary experience has been with Gateway Animal Hospital.
In New Jersey, I had one great vet that retired, then many years with two different vets that I dreaded every visit. They nickel and dimed you for every little pinch, prod or poke and always under-quoted the price of procedures like cyst removal, hernia repair, and urine checks. the vets rushed you out the door and the front desk staff left much to be desired.
From their courteous front desk staff, pleasant environment, wonderful vets and fair pricing, I cannot say enough about them. Whether it is a question, a call because of a concern, or just a regular check up, they are always willing to speak to you and make you not feel rushed.

From the docs to every memebr of the staff--they are the best! Not only are they skilled and practiced, they are loving (to humans as well as animals). I trust them completely and have been a loyal customer for many years. Also, unlike many vets in the area, they are very reasonable and do not charge more than necessary. They also do not push for expensive procedures if they are not required and wiill always work with you to find treatment that works for your budget as well as the health and well being of your animal. I came to this office on the recommendation of a co-worker. I guess I should have let them know this, and maybe they would have been a little more welcoming. There are no social skills with the vets at this office. They do what they have to do, but honestly, I've never been treated more coldly by any healthcare professional. I don't think it's me, as I am also in healthcare, and I've learned how to shake someone's hand upon entering a room (not done here), and introduce myself (also not done here). I wasn't even sure if I was speaking to the vet or the vet technician when they walked into the room. This happened with both Dr Walker and Dr Brenner. The care that my cat received was adequate, but a lot was overlooked. If you know your pet, and don't agree with what you are told, you have to keep pushing for what you think should be done as far as tests, etc. Lesson learned.

I absolutely LOVE Gateway Animal Hospital. Our family has been taking our four-legged family members there for years. They are thorough and exceptionally caring. My dog Sage recently had a stroke and things looked pretty dim. One of the vets (who is absolutely amazing, Amy) helped Sage and the rest of our family through the crisis and Sage has recovered as well as any 13 year old puppy could :) The practice has a great staff, is incredibly supportive, and had a vast and outstanding knowledge of animals. I wouldn't trust any other Vet with the care of my little loved ones. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I read the reviews prior to coming in after hearing of Gateway from my patients. On the phone - I was told there wasn't an appointment for a week - but when I told them my Bassett had no use of his back legs, they got me right in. The staff was so nice and they got me right back. The doctor talked to me briefly - but mainly focused on my dog. After a quick xray - they gave me some meds for him and seemed genuinely concerned. Very nice facility and great team!

I been taking my animals to the Gateway Animal Hospital, more specifically Dr. David Walker, for the past 15 years.The new building is great! It is bigger, seems cleaner - and everyone seems happy with the new space. It is also easily accessible from several different areas and has plenty of ample parking. The front desk assistants are always friendly, and will help to answer any questions. I have always been able to make an appointment for the same day, or next day if needed. When my dog needed stool samples looked at, I was given the option to drop them off whenever, and I could even wait in the office while they were analyzed.The pricing is also very competitive - if not downright cheaper than most other vets.Dr. David Walker is as good as they get. The first thing my dog likes to do when he gets into the room is to lick his face for about 5 minutes. Dr. Walker has a great connection with the animals - a very calming one. He is careful to answer any and all questions, and has spent upwards of 45 minutes with me - making sure all my questions were answered about my new pup.Everyone here has become like family in the last few years - especially dealing with the end-of-life issues from my first childhood dog. They let us come in and visit her multiple times while she was fighting for her life, and let us have as much time as we needed when it came to letting her go. Looking back on it, I am so thankful to have such understanding and compassionate people there during such difficult times.I know that pets are family - so ask around, and try them out if it feels right. I have always recommended Dr. Walker to friends and family, and will continue to go to him for my vet needs.

My family has taken our pets to Gateway Animal Hospital for years, and when I got pets of my own, I began taking them here too. Everyone who works here, from the people at the front desk to the doctors, are incredibly nice and do a fabulous job. I always recommend them to friends and family when they are looking for a new vet.Shortly after I got my cats, one of them had crystals in his urine and had to be hospitalized for a few days. Everyone at Gateway was great about letting my husband and I come in and visit him every day (while he had an IV in his little kitty arm), and they were able to treat his condition and have helped us manage it ever since. Because he now eats prescription food, I am in the office regularly to stock up, plus our cats are on different schedules for their annual check-ups, so it seems like we're there quite a lot. Everyone remembers us and knows and loves our cats. They are very accommodating when it comes to scheduling.Shelley is the vet we usually see, and she is great - very sweet, knows us well (the cats as well as my husband and I), and really explains things and answers questions. We never feel rushed or like she doesn't have time for us. I have also seen Amy several times when Shelley wasn't available, and she was also great. And when my family had dogs, they saw Dr. Walker. Part of being a pet owner, unfortunately, is dealing with their end-of-life issues, and all the vets here are so caring and understanding when it comes to this time, as well. Their new office is in a slightly less convenient location for me, but it is a large, modern building; everything is clean and new; and they have lots of space for exam rooms, operating rooms, records, kennels, etc. Also be sure to say hello to their resident parrot, and don't be surprised if you are greeted by one of the office cats.Regarding the reviewers who are commenting that the vet was not able to see them on short notice, I just wanted to point out that this is not an emergency vet. There are emergency vets around here and Gateway will refer you to them and take the records later to follow up with you and the patient. However, when I came into possession of a stray kitten, they were able to schedule an appointment for the next morning for an exam and to neuter him (and he's now sleeping peacefully next to me).

I have been coming to Gateway for over 10 years, and they have taken great care of my cat and dog's needs. Dr. Brenner is so sweet and great with my dog, who is terrified of the vet, and my cat, who can be a nightmare on Elm St. They' ve just moved to the new office on Croton, but the service is great as always. The staff are excellent, very caring, and great at answering my questions (with plenty of reassurances since I tend to fret and panic when my pets aren't feeling well) . When my cat was sick with a stomach virus, they were very thorough with administering the necessary fluids and medications, and kept him overnight until he was fully recovered. I also love the immunization reminders that they mail; they are so helpful in keeping track of my pets' shots, etc.

My precious dog has been a patient of Dr. Dave's for many years now. I really like his laid back manner and the way he loves animals.I find that the ladies at the front desk have always been very pleasant and greet my dog as an old friend and when I come in to pick up medicine they always ask about my dog more so then they ask about me. Smile. I had to see Amy Brenner once when I needed to go in for a quick unscheduled appointment that they fitted me in for. She was just as professional as Dr. Dave and assured me that what I was concerned about was normal, but if I wanted to get into it she would do more testing.I do not find the office dirty I would say it is old fashioned and needs updating. And I suppose that is why they are moving to a new location. And I am sad as it will be further away from my home.I read over Amanda D.'s review and I have to mention that my previous dog died of cancer. It is a disease that is very hard to diagnose. An emergency clinic I took my dog to did not find anything wrong with him initially, but when I got home from vacation and took him to my previous vet - after extensive blood work over a weeks' period of time they found the rare cancer. Even chemotherapy could not save him. I did not blame the emergency clinic. They did not think that his symptoms would be cancerous.Even with human medicine it is trial and error.

All their vets, Dave, Amy & Shelly, are three of the best vets I've ever know... more importantly, that my animals have ever known! We have multiple dogs, cats and a parrot and have been going to them for 22 years with our pets. Their unparalleled diagnostic and surgical skills, coupled with the obvious love and care, have been critical in keeping my babies healthy and living longer. Don't know what I'd do without them.
