I wish I could give 0 stars. My 3 month old puppy was hit by a car, and instead of taking him to our vet 25+ minutes away during rush hour I decided to take him to an animal hospital 2 minutes away from our house since I wasn’t sure how stable he was to travel all the way to our vet. When I arrived and explained the situation, the receptionist was extremley rude, unempathetic, and told me that I needed to wait and other people were ahead of me that had appointments. People in the waiting room were shocked on how I was treated and try to console both my puppy and I who were extremely distraught. The vet tech approached me and explained they were going to take him back and told me I was not allowed to come back, but instead needed to wait in the front. A minute later, the vet tech approaches me and explains “he’s fine”while giving him back and that they listened to his lungs and I can take him somewhere elsewhere for treatment. No vet ever came out to me to speak directly, I was never offered any care (no pain medicine, X-rays, opinion of what they suspected was wrong) but instead was referred to an emergency vet in Frazier, PA during rush hour. His paw was visibly broken, swollen, and he was moaning from the pain. After knowing he was stable enough, he was in executing pain and we drove an additional 30 minutes with a broken arm while we sat in rush traffic to take him to his regular vet. Once we arrived, our vet took 5 MINUTES to physically examine him, and took an X-Ray to confirm the fracture (even with other patients in the lobby). He splinted it up, gave him pain medicine and I was in and out in 15-20 minutes with discharge instructions. As a health care worker, I am extremley disgusted with the care and lack of compassion that this establishment presented to me and my new puppy who was just hit by a car. I did what any animal parent would do by taking him to the nearest place for care after witnessing their baby being struck by a moving vehicle. My vet was unbelievably dumbfounded that they did not offer to take any X-rays, offer care, or personally come out to me in the lobby as distraught as I was, to offer their opinion. I hope this review will prevent this situation from happening to any other person and their animal as it made the whole situation so much more traumatizing seeing my animal in so much pain longer than necessary due to a lack of compassion. My dog had developed what has been a particularly difficult to diagnose ailment. I cannot say enough about the way Dr. Garvey has helped us navigate our way through it all. Even when we were referred to a specialist she called to see how things were and was a sounding board for what was being done. We have had to bring our guy back a few times to deal with different things that have come up along the way and both Dr. Garvey and Dr. Perkins have been so wonderful. It's obvious that they genuinely care about our dog. Also, I feel like they have been sensitive to the fact that we needed to be mindful of cost at the same as wanting to do the best thing for our dog. I have never felt that more conservatively priced approaches as a first resort were compromises in care. I also feel confident that the recommendation to go a different, higher cost route would be recommended if that was the honest opinion and best thing for our boy. If you need a vet, this is a great choice.Read Less

I love this vet, my parents went here when I was a kid when it was just on the side of the old building. The doctors have always been fabulous, helpful, knowledgeable, etc and now that I go myself as an adult 20 something years later... everything is still great. I just have to wonder why their desk staff often doesn't seem to fit in with their fabulous facility and doctors. The front desk staff are often rude, moody, and short with customers coming in or on the phone. I've come across one or two nice gals at the desk but 90% of the time that I call or go, I feel like I'm being treated as if I'm a nuisance just while trying to pay a bill at the counter or heaven forbid I'm asking a question. I think they should really think about being friendlier because I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. If everything else wasn't so great, I think it would unfortunately turn people away. I've been in numerous customer service based jobs and I just believe it's part of your JOB to be friendly and helpful to customers. Be nice or go home! Read Less

I arrived 5 mins late to pick up my dog on Sunday. (Husband missed exit.) I hoped that the kindness I have always been shown at WCAH would open the door. A young staff member, coming out to be picked up & taken home, offered to go in and get her! A minute or two passed, and she came out to say, "Elsie will be out in a minute." We waited outside the door for 20+ mins! No one ever came. Knocking on doors & windows achieved nothing. I was angry. It was our fault, of course, but 5mins? Waiting for 20 mins to be ignored after we were told someone is coming?? Unacceptable in terms of professionalism. Beyond disappointed. Should we leave WC Animal Hospital because of this? Not sure. Everyone there has always been so kind and professional. Our animals received good care. But now, not at all positive about the place. There are lots of good places to board, and get veterinary care. I boarded my rabbits several times with the West Chester Animal Hospital and never had an issue... until recently and now I will never be going back. When I went to pick up my rabbits, I arrived just after opening time and the tech said the rabbits "haven't been cleaned yet", nbd I thought, what's a few dirty litter boxes, but when I walked back with the tech to get the rabbits I was horrified at what I saw...White bunny- litter box appeared to have been 'cleaned' by repeatedly covering up the mess with new bedding and newspaper. Literally in layers.Black bunny- no food and no water. Nothing. Not even a drip of water. UnacceptableGray bunny- this is where I cried- she had water but no food AT ALL. Her crock had only dried pee splashes in it and she looked like she had lost weight (not good for rabbits).  Her litter box had not been changed in a day or two but worse of all, her cage itself was FILTHY. There was so much urine in the cage that I had to wash her pee soaked bum, feet, and ears when we got home. I'm not talking about one day or even three days of pee, I'm talking many days of pee accidents that were not cleaned up, as evident by how dark (and stinky) the pee was.  The cage also had a ring of pee and feces soaked fur around it, clearly not cleaned once during her entire ten day stay. Her very open-air cage stunk like a latrine and my heart shattered when I realized what I put my bunny through. What happened to my rabbits is done and over with, but I can't stand to think of the other rabbits (and maybe cats and dogs?) they board who are helplessly forced to sit in complete filth without food and water. How many days had the rabbits gone without food and/or water? How many people had walked by the gray bunny's cage without bothering to take a paper towel and clean up the festering urine?? I honestly suspect that's the standard condition pets live in while boarded at WCAH and that the techs "clean" the animals before handing them over so they look fresh and well taken care of.I have filed a neglect complaint with the CCSPCA as these conditions are deplorable and could have easily tuned fatal. I will never be going back to WCAH and hopefully the pictures below will help get the word out about what animals boarded at WCAH endure. (*Notice the disgusting ring of pee fur around the cage.) Love, Love, LOVE this clinic!  I've been taking my kitties here for almost 5 years.  I wasn't happy with the previous veterinarian, so I decided to shop around.  What caught my eye about this clinic is that it was HUGE and had 3 vets on site (Dr. Molly is da bomb!).  I always had to make my appointments months in advance just for an annual visit (booster shot, rabies shot, and general check-up).  I figured that my odds of getting an appointment on the fly would have to be better.  I can usually make a regular appointment within a week.  I actually had a situation with one of my cats a few months ago where I needed to take her in on short noitice.  The receptionist was excellent about finding a time to squeeze me in, all while working around my schedule.  Plus, the clinic is always immaculate!  Every time I have been there it is very clean, well-maintained and up-to-date, as are the kennels.
