west chester veterinary hospital is a very, very bad place. the people that run this place, know and understand how much you love your little pets and they use this knowledge to fleece you. the primary motivation of any veterinary hospital, should be the health of its' patients and also to inform and console the people who bring their pets to the hospital, looking for help. the staff at (wcvh) are, at best, rip-off artists, of the first magnitude! they are at their best, if you take your pet to them, as an emergency patient. they know that you, as the owner, have a sick "family member" little pet with you and that you will do "anything" to get help and money will be no object, in seeking that help. they know, that in a time of stress, people will drop their guard and the only thing on their mind, is getting medical help for their pet. they know that, when a pet becomes sick and is taken out of the home, that the family is, in most cases, very upset and the members of that family all become aware of the empty place created by the absence of that family member. they, the family, will do anything to restore their happy family. as i've said, under these conditions, the staff at (wcvh) will then go to work, doing anything and everything, to run-up the the bill. their prime concern is not your pet, but how far they can run-up your bill! i took my beautiful, very sweet cat, midnight, a (6) year old, male black cat, the (47) long miles, from northeast philadelphia, out to west chester, for what i thought would be help for a breathing problem. as i couldn't get out there, during daytime hours, i had to go after (7) pm. i might also make clear, that midnight had a ''wheezing'' problem for many months. i had to live with his condition, going untreated for so long, because i am very sick myself and have trouble getting around. a second reason for the delay in getting him to medical help, is very simple, couldn't catch him! all of my (7) cats are outside cats and midnight has been the last, to let me touch and pet him. he is big and has claws and is very difficult to try to put him into a carrier. in my weakened condition, it was all but impossible to do this. i had to throw caution to the wind and to fight with him, to get him into the extra large carrier. i almost had a heart attack myself!i was very upset and worried for him. the entire (1) hour drive, i kept pulling over to make sure he was still breathing. at long last, we arrived. it was all i could do, to get him into the building. i had to put him down, several times, before i got to the door.to make a long story a little shorter, they took him into the back and after a hour wait, a woman came out to ask if i could pay for his treatment! i told her that i have an account there and have had several surgeries performed on (2) of my other cats and eye treatments for my little toy poodle, ginny. i told her that i could pay for midnights' care. after another hour, a really ''goofy'' young girl came into the room, with a white sheet of paper and sat next to me. not one word about the condition of midnight! to that point in time, they had taken xrays and had given him ''breathing'' treatments and said it would be better, if he stayed, for the night. she told me, that the treatment, thus far, came to ($1,498) and that i had to pay that amount, right then!!!! i asked for a diagnoses of his condition and was told they needed to do more testing. i, of course, protested this absurd amount of and told her to take another look at her numbers. she came back, a few moments later and told me, that if i didn't want midnight to have oxygen, through the night, the bill would be ($985)!!!!!! i gave her $500 in cash, as a deposit and made the long trip home.early the next day, a nurse called to tell me that midnight needed more treatment and i agreed, still not knowing what the problem was!! but!!! the nurse told me, that before ''anything else'' would be done, to help midnight, i would have to drive back out there and give them another deposit!!!!!!!! no money, no care!!! i went right out there, paid a total of $719 and brought my dear little boy home. as it turned out, midnight had a low-grade bacterial infection and it was quickly treated with $10 worth of antibiotics and within (2) days, he was fine. i knew what was wrong, before taking him out there, but i wanted to be sure. i told the so-called doctor, who brought midnight out, what the problem was and he gave me the meds. he also told me that midnight was ''asthmatic'' and i said, that his present condition does not mean that he has ''feline asthma'', there is a very big difference. this all boils down to a simple examination, by a good, caring vet and the right diagnoses, with meds and your little loved family member will be back home. stay away from this place. remember, all vet places change with time, i had (6) good years there, before it went bad. their actions can cost your little pet its life.
