Dr. Fleck and his staff are wonderful with their handling of large breed dogs. They've treated my GSD, Fenris, with the understanding that he's a big baby who's terrified of going to the vet. I made an appointment on the 26th of April for vaccines for my three dogs, they couldn't see them until May 11th and 12th that's fine we are boarding them on the 16th. I showed up for the first appointment and was asked very rudely if I had an appointment? She tells me I'm not on their books for either day and can't get them in. She acted like I didn't know where I was supposed to be, I have the number and day on my phone when I called and made the appointment! It wasn't me who didn't know what she was doing! Dr. Fleck and his staff were the only ones who would help us. I had taken my dog to our regular vet for swelling under my dog's jaw that was causing discomfort. She immediately sent us to a specialist who said he needed surgery. I called almost every vet in the Pittsburgh area, trying to find a second opinion. Only White Oak Veterinary Clinic called me back. After speaking to Dr. Fleck, we set up an appointment. His staff was very kind and professional as we waited. After seeing the doctor, he told us we could probably manage the condition with medication! After the visit, my dog returned to his happy self from years ago! My husband and I were looking for a new veterinarian since our veterinarian that we used for years retired, then sold his business. We can not say enough about how caring the entire staff at the White Oak Animal Hospital was with are pekingese, Gizmo. My first impression walking in, I noticed how focused each employee was with the humans and their pets. I was greeted with a smile and updated a few times, by the staff, on how long the wait was. Dr. Fleck is a prime example of what a veterinarian should be, he showed compassion and confidence with our Gizmo. We did not feel rushed at all, even though it was very near closing time-8pm. This is an animal hospital that realizes that pets are truly a part of the family!! This is the UPMC for animal care!! Very sad!! I just left with my dog that needed blood work. When I walked In a Tech (Diane) came over and said I'll take your dog in the back!! I asked why I can't go with Her!? The tech got an attitude and said I don't feel comfortable doing her in front of you!! Really!! Maybe you shouldn't be working with dogs then!!! Very good doctors if you can get an appointment. 1 week after being seen by the vet, my dog was in so much pain that he quit eating. When I called for an appointment, I was told that nothing was available for 3 days and surgery had to wait for another 9 days. HELLO, he is suffering and stopped eating!!! They didn't care. I was told, " we'll call you if there are any cancellations." I went to another vet and was taken care of, including the surgery, in 2 days. Would never recommend that place. Read Less

White Oak Vet Clinic has been excellent with our three dogs. Dr. Fleck and his staff, from the front desk to the vet techs, are always kind and concerned about my questions and the well-being of the pets. When the dogs are sick, I get in right away and Dr. Fleck is amazing with them. He is always kind not only with the dogs but also with us. Dr. Gordon is amazingly good with our animals! She is even better with us, oftentimes we are more of a nervous wreck than our animals! She takes her time and answers all of our questions without ever masking us feel small. We switched vets from Munhall for that very reason (also he called our dog fat...literally). Just switched to this vet and see Dr. Fleck both my babies seem to like him my male pit sat and let him look in his mouth he dont even let mom and dad do that, and he was much calmer in the office then any other vet office i think that this might have to do with it being clean and smelling clean it does not have that strong stench that most vets have... so both my babies have been seen by him and will continue to be seen by him. Dr. Fleck is the best! We have five cats so getting them to the vet is a challenge. White Oak Veterinary Clinic lets us schedule a "double" appointment and bring them together. It really makes things easier for us. Even with all five there, Dr. Fleck gives each one the time and attention they need. He seems knowledgeable about behavior issues as well as physical ones. The clinic hours are great. We can always schedule an appointment when it is convenient for us. We also can always get an emergency appointment when we have an emergency and not a week later! When we had our dog put to sleep at White Oak a few years ago, everyone was helpful, courteous and compassionate. Going somewhere we trusted during a difficult time made things a little easier for us. My experience with White Oak Veterinary Clinic has been long and successful. As a child, my family always used White Oak with our family pets. Now that I am the adult, I choose White Oak for my pets too. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good vet. Read Less

I have been taking my dog Pearl to Dr. Fleck for over 3 years now. I cant even express how much they have done for Pearl. The love, compassion, concern, care and respect they have shown Pearl as well as me is immeasurable. Pearl was diagnosed with a mass on her heart which causes her to retain fluid in her abdomen. Pearl visits Dr. Fleck weekly, sometimes twice a week and there has never been a time where she wasnt treated with the utmost care. Dr Fleck and his entire staff which includes Ashley and Heather and every single person that works there have always been so polite and respectful. I am disappointed to say the least when on Friday March 14th I went to this office. I saw a cat in the road, obviously feral/homeless that had been badly injured. No one stopped but me to give this cat some dignity during its last moments on this planet. A woman that lived close called this office and told me to go there, they could help this cat be put out of his misery. I was greeted by an elderly woman who was nasty, uncaring, and was ONLY concerned about money. "Who's going to pay this bill? You need to go elsewhere" I was told time and time again. I demanded to see someone who would have SOME compassion to put this animal out of pain.I was hurried into an operatory and a vet tech came in. Coldly she looked at me and said "so you hit the cat?" Upset from the cat having blood coming out of his nose and eyes, I said no, just help him. He needs to be put to sleep . The elderly woman came into the op and begrudgingly said we will do this one time good Samaritan act of no cost to put him to sleep . The woman who I was with (that stopped after seeing me in traffic) filled out the paper since I was holding this poor creature in my arms the entire time, and the elderly woman left in a huff. Apparently it's beneath her to help people/animals in need.The vet came in, Dr. Fleck and was drab about the entire situation, wasn't mean, but didn't even say thank you for caring about this poor animal. They took him into the back room to do the euthanasia. I didn't get to see it happen, but I hope they did what they said they were going to do.I have had animals now for 30 years and going to different vets over the years I have NEVER gone to a place that is SO concerned about money and SO stand-offish and uncaring. Be assured that I will not recommend this place, not go back to this place, and make sure all my animal friends know that this isn't the place to go if you love your animal, even if it is an animal that you never met.
