We usually go to the glen side location. But unfortunately over the past few days our dog Lady was having some neck/shoulder pain. Dr. Bishop was able to squeeze us in the same day we called. She was polite, caring and took the time for Lady to warm up to her (the best she could given Lady's emotional state). She took her time to examine her thoroughly, even found a skin tag that only I had noticed before. They prescribed Lady some muscle relaxers and an anti-inflammatory. So far so good! We will continue to monitor her.Aside from Dr. Bishop's wonderful care, the rest of the staff was pleasant, seemed happy to see Lady (even when Lady didn't show the same affection). We LOVE this practice. We prefer Rau, to Rau Too. The vets and techs have been GREAT. We have seen six different vets, two of them, twice. Different techs, different office staff. We have been there during the day, evening and on a Saturday. Every time, the entire staff has been pleasant, compassionate, never rushing the visit, never pushing foods or meds. We've experienced well visits, emergency visits with one ending as an emergency euthanasia. Sick visits, where the vet has called us herself, to give us test results. After seeing so many aspects of this practice, I highly recommend them. They may be a little pricier than some other practices. But you know what? They are WORTH IT!! Read Less

I was left in an empty room waiting for the doctor to show up for over 45 minutes with my dog. No explanation or apology why such a long wait. Finally left without the doctor ever having stepped into the room. One place I am sure not to return to. Read Less

I live in Northeast Philadelphia and even though I'm quite a distance to Rau Animal Hospital it is still worth the trip. In fact, I've been making the trip for almost 12 years. My older cat has recurring stomach issues but she is always treated with compassion and extreme care by any of the doctors on staff. I'll spare you the details but none of what they have to do to help her is pretty or pleasant. Yesterday, I took my younger cat in for what turned out to be two different types of ear infections. He hissed his little heart out but both the vet tech and the doctor took their time with him and put him at ease. As a crazy cat mom this means a lot. Read Less

I like two or three doctors there. They are great. with that said, I decided NEVER take my six dogs (used to be seven) to Rau or Rau Too ever again. My dogs have been going there for over ten years. Today I was requesting a refill, and the nurse refuse to contact PennVet where the dog recently had the ES care, recheck, an operation and follow-up care three days ago. This medication was originally prescribed by Rau, The doctor at PennVet also asked me to continue to administer it as needed. The nurse at Rau insisted that I need to get a prescription from PennVet (though PennVet sent them all the reports and keep them informed of the treatment plan) or bring the dog in for an appointment, and would not agree to working it out with Penn. It is consistent with my prior experience that Rau runs a veterinarian hospital more like a store. When it comes to care for pets, they are no where close to PennVet, where everyone cares about the well being of the pets. Again, there are a few doctors that are excellent. But your pets will be handled like a money making opportunity rather than a life. When I requested the medical history of the pets so that I could take them to other vets, I was told that it would take them two days to get back to me. Typically it is something that could be done on the spot. Think in terms of your primary care physician. If this doctor refuses to proactively work with a specialty surgery for your health, will you not want to find a different PCP?Read Less

This is the most compassionate vet I have ever seen we had to take our year and a half old cat her for a emergency she was all of a sudden really sick she was found to have FIT and had to be put down from the time we arrived through the entire process I could I have not have asked for better care for my cat and my daughter whose cat it was. it was very hard for her to go through this at 14 years of age. I will definitely be using them in the future and highly recommend them to anyone. Everywhere else I called that day would not see us and our poor kitty needed immediate care. I know there is another location in Glenside and I have not been there yet, but a friend recommended me to this Willow Grove location. I have been to a few different vets in the past, but I just moved to this area and wanted to find a GREAT vet. I was extremely pleased with everyone I came into contact with at this location. The doctors were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly loved their job. Everyone else's helping including at the front desk helped to make my cat feel more comfortable. He is a revue and has a history of abuse, so he can often be very nervous and skeptical. However he made himself right at home at Rau Too and I know instantly this was my forever vet location!
