We have an elderly Schipperke named Guinness. The staff, doctors and vet techs treat Guinness and my husband and I exceptionally well. This is the only veterinary practice we've ever used and I can't imagine ever moving and looking for as great of a practice. Thanks for all that you do! Read Less

AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CARE FOR THE WELL BEING OF YOUR ANIMALS!!! My dog had to get a lump removed from her inner thigh and the entire ordeal was maddening. First off, after I pick my dog up from surgery, she is in the wrong size cone. They assure me it will work, all of that night (after they close mind you) my dog is licking her surgical wound, so I have to stay up all night to make sure she doesn't. The next day I return and they begrudgingly give me the right size cone after I requested it several times. 2 days later most of the stitches have come out of the would (it is now roughly the size of a quarter with two stitches on the end) and I take her back. They tell me not to worry about it. (And charge me for a full visit) 2 days later she has no stitches left and then wound is beginning to look irritated, I take her back after and AGAIN am told it is no big deal. Again , charged for a full visit. Finally, I take her back for her post op, the doctor takes one look and days, oh, this isn't right, we need to perform surgery again to close up the wound. They perform the surgery the next day and bring her out in the wrong size cone AGAIN and refuse to give me antibiotics until I tell them I won't leave until they do (again, begrudgingly they do but "only because it's a 3 day weekend") Thankfully, my dog's leg finally healed, but I will NEVER give this place my business again (no animal deserves to go through that) and if you care about your pet, you won't either. I really like Wyomissing Animal Hospital. All of the vet techs and women at the front counter are so lovely and friendly. They are really understanding and patient of the fact that my dog gets especially anxious there and is difficult to examine. I've only had one vet that I didn't like who was impatient and condescending and I'm pretty sure she doesn't even work there anymore. I usually have Dr. Flannery and she is so wonderful and kind and always takes the time to help calm my dog down before she examines her so she isn't so scared. They really do put your pet's health first. I have no frame of reference for pricing as I've never taken my dog elsewhere, vet bills are expensive but I'm sure it's comparable to every other vet in the area. My experience with the Wyomissing Animal Hospital has been great. The staff is very friendly. They ask about my cat each time I come into the vet. It's a very comforting place to take my cat who was diagnosed with diabetes and a heart condition in September. I highly recommend this vet. Dr. Flannery is without a doubt the nicest veterinarian I've ever gone to. Everyone at Wyomissing Animal Hospital is friendly and helpful. My first experience with WAH was over the summer my Akita needed and emergency appointment and our regular vet had nothing open until four days later... WAH took Lily in first thing the next morning. (She was unable to walk) WAH was willing to see her on such short notice. They identified the cause and gave her meds.. the days to follow the WAH doctor was calling to see how she was improving. My second experience is why my Golden Retriever was acting strange and struggling to breath.. he was not a regular client at WAH, but again they were willing to take a chance on a new dog and help... that experience did not end the way we, the family, wanted but the doctors and staff were so wonderful and sympathetic to our heartbreak. I had been going to a different vet and wanted a second opinion. Someone suggested Wyomissing Animal Hospital and I gave them a try. Loved them. Although my baby was diagnosed with cancer and it was too late to save her. They were really awesome to work with and so kind to my girl and understanding with us. I later suggested them to a couple other people along the way and even my mom switched to them. The past few months her cat got very sick and it was his time. He was out down last week and since then she has received a beautifully written sympathy card. It's the little things that mean the most. Would recommend to anyone. Read Less

Well I will start by mentioning I've been going to the Wyomissing animal hospital for a minimum of 10 years personally for my own dog, slowly adding two more dogs and a cat. Fast forward to last week-I had to make the decision on euthanizing my Chihuahua whom I've had by my side for 14 years. Not only were they accommodating to the fact that it took me until a Sunday to come to the realization that I couldn't prolong this, and if I did I was solely doing it for myself, but they did it with suck understanding. I called the week before to ask questions Kendra was very understanding with my emotions and extremely helpful, and yet again it was Kendra who answered on Sunday when I called to schedule the euthanasia. When I brought Gabbi in, obviously I was full of emotion and I definitely was not able to focus on the questions being asked and at the time I had picked a communal cremation. Later in the evening I was starting to get very upset and really regretting the choice I made for a communal cremation so I decided to call and leave a voicemail late at night, to my surprise Kendra, again called me first thing in the morning and assured me that it would be no problem and she understood as well as understanding how upset I was! I cannot say enough how kind she was, everyone is so understanding. Kendra really set my heart as ease with just saying how it was no problem and she would take care of it and she understood and it was that easy for them to make that adjustment that I assumed it would be impossible, I get emotional even writing this. I could go on and on in this review, however it meant a lot that no matter how many times I called, how many questions I had, or how long I was crying that they were not able to understand what I was actually saying they always replied with calm reassurance and truly made the process a little bit easier for me. Today I picked up the remains and got to see who Kendra was in person and I thanked her again and got emotional but she really made all the difference! I do understand how we all feel about our babies; I'm 1,000% for the animals; but this is a Business, and a very BUSY one at that; I must admit the front desk can be trying at times; especially when we want news of our lil ones, or are there for a visit; but if we must be our own advocates at the people Hospital for ourselves;SO, We must be as forceful for our fur babies; they can not speak for them selves,& WE must protect them, I found Dr. Austin to be the FINEST, and Flannery to be just as caring....I try to stay with these 2 Dr's.... ''due to my demanding ways'' with my babies. IF you don't like what you have with one person; *demand another*, even if it's at the front desk!! God, knows how I can be & it's not pretty if I don't get the BEST Treatment for my loved ones, They do TRY at WAH, far better than most; so Please don't judge this Business on one bad person, *REPORT IT* & save someone else from what happened to you and yours. We have been taking our two Italian Greyhounds to Wyomissing Animal Hospital since we adopted them over three years ago. The support staff is professional and friendly. We've seen several veterinarians at the hospital and have been very pleased with their "bedside" manner. They are top-notch in my book. Very good with both of our dogs. The smaller of our two gets very scared upon entering the clinic (they were attacked by a dog early on in our adoption) but with the veterinarians, they are very comfortable. Far from impressed. Our puppy broke his leg & needed surgery. I have never been here before so when I dropped him off early morning the lady working was anything but caring. I expressed to her that I was paying $1,000 cash & I would bring the remaining $3,000 later that evening when we picked him up, she told me that the whole amount needed to be paid or she could not take him, I told her that whoever I spoke with the night before never stated any amount to bring just that they needed a deposit, had they told me I would have brought the whole amount but I really thought $1,000 was sufficient for a deposit, all she kept saying was well I am sorry but I am not losing my job I need the full amount, I then said look I need to get to a meeting take my credit card & hold it, if I don't come back with the money you can charge my card, she said she had to charge the full amount before I left, I didn't have the time or energy to argue with her so I signed & left, when I went back later the girl working at that time said she didn't understand why the lady couldn't do what I asked her in the morning so she reversed the credit card charges & took the cash I had to pay bill in full, but even after expressing how I left their office in tears that morning because of way I was treated, no one ever followed up to see what happened. We were told that the total charge would include all of his follow-up care which was to have stitches removed & an x-ray to make sure the bone was healed, well we went to check out & they tell me that there is a charge for $48.00, why a charge if i was told there were no additional charges, we are thankful to the surgeon for fixing our puppies broken leg (unfortunately we never met him) but some of the other things I just can't overlook, we were seriously thinking of making this place our new vet for our fur baby but not now.Read Less

I am usually very happy with the hospital. I love doctor flannery. Yesterday I took my puppy for shots and like usual they were great with him he goes to everyone. So when the one girl came and took him I didn't think anything of it thought she was just taking him to see people( they have before) well he came back and had a bandage on his leg. She took him without asking who he was and took blood. When she brought him back found out it was a female dog that she was supposed to get. Mine is definitely a boy. Very disappointed by this when I said something no one said anything. Thank god it was just blood. Read Less

The Doctors and staff are wonderful. We have had several of our animals seen by the team at Wyomissing Animal Hospital and always had a positive experience. Over the past year we have had our one dog, that was very sick with several things, and due to his breed was difficult to treat because of a variety of reasons. He is the sweetest dog in the world and was only a puppy when it all started. Over the year the team at the hospital got him through it all with the utmost professionalism and each member of the staff treated him as though he was their personal dog. He loves going to the vet now. !!! that is saying a lot as most animals hate going there. Our pup recently underwent a very difficult surgery that had we taken him to a specialist would have not been financially possible. I don't even live in the same state and they helped save my dogs life. THANK YOU!!!!!FYI, I live in Washington state and do not live in Pennsylvania. My dogs spleen ruptured around 7 AM PST and I did not know what was wrong with her. Her gums turned white from a loss of blood. Without the quick communication from the front desk to a vet and Wyomissing Animal Hospital being open when my vets were not, my Maggie would not be here with me today. I rushed her to the hospital. By the time surgery was done the surgeon told me she was in such a bad condition that if we had gotten there any later than we did then Maggie would not have survived. You guys provide an epic service and someday I would love to shake the hands of the entire faculty in person. I am forever grateful, thanks again! Read Less
