When my Vet i have gone to for the past 20 yrs with my dogs retired. I wasn't comfortable with the new Vet that  took over the business so I searched for a new Vet.  We have a Vet up the street from my house that had been taken over by a New Veterinarian so i gave them a try.  It was the best decision i made , thier caring staff is off the charts. Just recently I had to put my 10 1/2 old boxer to his finally journey to the Rainbow Bridge.. This is not my vet, however I do bring my dog here for preventive dental cleaning. This is the only location in RI that offers this service. Not many have heard of it because the company is not based in-state instead what they do is visit once a month so it's best to book as early as possible. This dental cleaning does not require anesthesia and is done while your dog/cat is awake. As long as your pet qualifies for this treatment it's highly recommend especially if your animal is sensitive, or doesn't really require to be put under like in my dog's case. It takes a good 3/4 hours to be seen and have the cleaning done, once over the vet reviews everything. Also, they have a check-in offer for a free bag of Nutridentials Lean Treats which is another nice touch. The staff and Dr. Courtney are the most caring people I have ever met dealing with animals. I had to put my poor baby down cuz she was so sick and the Dr. found a mass in her belly. The staff here is great and really care about the animals! Quality veterinarian care is never going to be cheap but I didn't feel like I was being over charged or forced into spending money on treatments my dog didn't need. They understand that people live on budgets and try their best to make quality care of pets affordable. I have a American Pitbull and they really get a bad reputation for no reason! Recently Zeus was limping and extremely upset due to the pain. He cried all night and I we never slept. First thing in the morning I woke up and got shut down by 4 vets that wouldn't take him because he was an angry pitt! When we moved across the state (haha - I know...alllll the way across Rhode Island), we needed a vet that was closer to our new home. After looking around on Yelp, we settled on Cranston Animal Hospital. We have been bringing our dogs here for annual checkups and shots for a few years now. We have also brought them in for random illnesses and injuries as well. (Side note: they have another location, Oaklawn Animal Hospital, that we have we have also used - same great care and vets.)We are so happy with the care we receive from the staff and veterinarians here! They are personable with us and our dogs and patient with the many questions and concerns we always have. I've also found them to provide excellent explanations on extra and occasional services offered without being pushy at all. They have nice rubber pads on the examination tables that make a world of difference for our nervous dogs. In all we are happy and confident with the care our two dogs receive here! Read Less

Disregard all reviews prior to April of 2014, this practice has been taken over by Dr Courtney Rebensdorf as a an additional location to her Oaklawn Animal Hospital. I have been taking my two dogs, two cats and snake to Oaklawn Animal Hospital for years and have the highest regard for Dr Rebensdorf and her staff. Both of my dogs are rescues and one in particular was an abuse victim and is extremely nervous, so I am very careful in her care, Dr Rebensdorf takes penty of time with her and is extremely patient as she is not the easiest patient. I have just returned from my first visit to Cranston Animal Hospital and was very happy to see Dr Rebensdorf there along with some new and some familiar familiar faces. Great Vet!! Read Less

I can't believe I am seeing 5 star reviews about this place! We brought our 4 month old puppy in for a checkup and we left angry, very upset, and highly disappointed that a place like this stays in business. The tech's that work there are undertrained and give you dangerous and incorrect advice. Example: The woman at the front desk told me to blow into my puppys nose because she was barking! She also told this to another patron. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. The tech that came to initially examine our dog was rude and treated our dog like trash. She spoke condescendingly to my wife and I and was neither warm nor loving when handling our puppy. When she clipped her nails, she clipped too far and our dog screamed. She didnt even try to console the dog, she just kept hacking away. She was not using correct holding techniques and the dog was all over the floor, terrified. Since then, our puppy has been afraid of the vet (our new vet because we would NEVER go back here) and also is terrified of nail clippings. When checking out, the staff at the front desk was unprofessional, disorganized and rude. Please keep your animals away from this place. Read Less
