Worst office I could possibly describe. My grandmother takes her cat to Mercy for some insane reason but I assure you I will not let her take this cat back there after today. This morning at 9 a.m. my grandmother asked me to pick up her prescription for phenobarbital for her cats epilepsy at CVS to be told there were no refills and that the Vet office could not be contacted. I told her to call the vet herself and as usual there was no answer so she left a message telling them it was an emergency and that the cat was seizing and needed the script filled as soon as possible and that I would be able to pick it up at 11 a.m. At 11:30 she said she hadn't heard back I called the vet and Tracy said she left my grandmother and message which my grandmother said she didn't get (there may have been an issue with her machine) Tracy said my grandmother left no information except there was an emergency which is a LIE, my grandmother told her her cat needed her phenobarbital or she would die from continuous seizing. I asked her to please call in the prescription right now, she said it will be a few hours because we have appointments. I told her it's an emergency can you please have the doctor call in between appointments and she said NO!!! When she asked what the pharmacy phone number was, I said I don't know it, I'm sure you can find that, it's the CVS on Reservoir Avenue, then she told me I was being rude! I've never heard of any doctor, vet or any other type of medical office not being able to get a pharmacy phone number. Considering I was driving, I didn't think it was necessary that I find the phone number myself. So I had to drive to the office. By this time I was extremely upset and wanted to speak to the vet myself. Surprisingly, there was not one person in the building beside Tracy in sight and she refused to let me speak to the vet. She said he's in appointments. So I asked her to leave a message for him to call me so i cpuld speak with him. Now she said the rx had been called in and she still insisted my grandmother gave her no information. I find it hard to believe all of these people have had such wonderful experiences at this office. A majority of the 5 star ratings have to be friends and or relatives?? Every time we have been in there for an appointment there are four or five appointments booked at the same time with the one doctor. We wait for anywhere from a half hour to over an hour to be seen. One instance, after 45 minutes of sitting there I checked at the desk and they didn't know we were there because they forgot about us. If I could give zero Stars I would. Read Less

We recently purchased a french bulldog puppy and decided to go with Mercy Animal Hospital because of its 5star reviews. I’m glad i did, Dr. Mac. was awesome! Even though his waiting room was filled with clients he took his time with our puppy and answered all of our questions. Like other people have said it is not a money making place where they sell you everything under the sun... it is VERY reasonable. He showed us another bulldog that was there and took out books to educate us on some things. He was great! The girls that work there are extremely nice and VERY helpful. GREAT PLACE Read Less

Dont have an emergency! they tell you we're too busy for you go elsewhere even if she is bleeding and in pain and a patient! The staff were so rude! This small neighborhood vetranerian is just the greatest! I've been a customer since 1986. He has such a clientele that he has to close the books at times because he has to many customers! Can you believe that?! That's how good this guy is! Dr. McMillan is the Best. It's only downside is that it's small place. Good vet, very good guy. My three dogs onxy jayde and dozer go there and are always well takin care of.. He is deff very careing.. Took almost all his staff and myself to hold down my 100 pound German Shepherd who was freaking out and did not want us to check his ears.. Dr McMillan is like no other vet you will ever meet. He honestly loves his job and the animals. His office vist price is the lowest you will find on top of it. My Angel Stephany Anne a shih tzu and fury child of mine for 12 years passed away. I was heart broken and deviated and didn't know what to do being new to the area a friend recommended Mercey. The staff there will be my vet forever when I am ready for a new fury kids as they handled it with grace. Much to my Joy when my husband brought home the ash's they were in a beatific wooden urn ready for a photo. A pack of seeds to make a garden in her memory a sympathy card along with a companion coin and certificate . Besides all that and not to sound cold but a friend told me he paid double what I did at another vet for a rabbit and it was given back to him in a card board box. This office and staff is about compassion and love and not making the big bucks. The reality is had they been open and not the so called emergency care for pets who's name I will not say but it is the nick name of Rhode Island. they sat me down and told me what could save my love but they needed 3000.00 or they will do nothing. I love this place. I have never had an issue with waiting times or getting an appointment. They are VERY GOOD with my pup and I really appreciate that. Today I had to drop him off to get some dental work done. They are so warm and welcoming and what could be a very nerve racking experience as an owner (since they have to put him under) the love they show Harley every time I am there just eases it all.I know my pup is in good hands, the office visit, blood work, check-ups and minor things here and there are all very reasonably priced. They haven't updated the place in 50 years but hey, if it keeps the costs down, I'm fine with the vintage feel.Thank you for taking such good care of my boy and I would definitely recommend this vet to anyone! I've had pets my entire life. I've also been to many veterinarians. Virtually all of them were knowledgeable and very compassionate.  Some I felt were relatively expensive. Most gave me good information on my pets' conditions and took excellent  care of them. But one veterinarian stands out: Dr. Thomas B. McMillen. For the past 6+ years I've been taking my dog Sassy (now almost 16!) to Dr. McMillen, he ALWAYS treats her with caring hands while giving me detailed information on his findings during her exams. He also dispenses more helpful unsolicited knowledge about my dog than any other vet. I've also found Dr. McMillen's services to be extremely reasonable in cost as compared to other hospitals. And as with virtually every other veterinarian, the wait can be, at times, on the long side. But that doesn't bother me since I know Sassy is receiving extraordinary care! Read Less

I wouldn't go any where else for treatment for my dogs/fur babies.  Dr McMilan is an amazing doctor.  I trust him with my dog's life and he has proven his worth more times than I can ever state.  He is caring and very conscientious.  I have one diabetic dog and upon adopting him we were very nervous about his treatment.  Dr Mac took the time to explain the disease with us, what to look for and best ways to give him his shots.  He truly cares about his patients and about their owners.  We have been with Mercy Animal Hospital for at least 20 years and have NEVER had a bad experience there.  Even when we have to make that sad decision that we all have to at some point, Dr Mac and his staff are professional in making those final moments on this earth comfortable for your little one and also provides you with the respect and privacy needed to grieve as you go through this with your fur baby.  The staff is excellent we have been with Jody and Holly the longest and know them the best.  But we love every one of the staff members there.  We truly feel like family when we go.  Where else can you feel so comfortable than at Mercy Animal Hospital?   I will tell you.....no where!!!!!!!!!!!! But I have a coonhound and the breed, like many other hounds, is known for ear problems. My poor boy goes through bouts of excessive head shaking and scratching. I recently cleaned his ears and found he had scratched so intensely that he caused his ear to bleed! During each of the 4 visits over the past 2 years, I have discussed this ear problem. Everytime the vet is adamant it is not ear mites but never even tests for it. The evidence CLEARLY indicates its ear mites. My dog's ears are the poster image of any online search for ear mites. Small, low cost vet. Decent for your daily, routine visits. However, don't allow the words "animal hospital" in the name fool you. This is NOT a hospital, it is merely a small family run routine vet's office. DO NOT bring your pet here for any sort of emergency. I brought in my dog (a current patient who was last seen 6 months ago) who was experiencing a severe allergic reaction. I was told she was probably going into anaphylactic shock so I should take her elsewhere to be treated. No emergency treatment was given. The receptionist only kept repeating she needed immediate care and should be taken somewhere else. None of my pets (present or future) will be back. Read Less

Dr McMillan is by far the best vet around . I have been going to him for almost 10 years and he is knowledgeable on almost anything pertaining to your pet . The staff is great especially Jody .  You might have to wait a bit to be seen but it's worth it . Prices are good but can you really put a price on your pet . Dr. McMillan is a VERY CARING VET. I recently had to bring my MaineCoon in as an emergency and he took his time to find the problem, which was unusual for her age.
