Our family has been taking our pets to Hope Veterinary Care for about 30 years & the doctors & staff there have been professional, caring & empathetic. Whether it has been a new pet or the waning days of an older cherished one, the care has been better than expected. Hope Vet Care has been my families choice for care for our pets (cats and dogs) for about 20 years. We are extremely happy with the care provided.  Currently we have two dogs and whether they are visiting for their annual appointment or a sick visit they are treated so well. Though we normally see Dr Chang who is wonderfully, the entire staff is both knowledgeable and compassionate as well as accommodating. They truly love animals and want the best for them. We wouldn't take our Dog(s) anywhere else. The staff and the Dr.s are like family to us. We've had 3 dogs..in 20 years. Hope..has been there from beginning to end. Now we have another dog..a Flat Coat Retr. and he's part of the "Family" too. He has no fear of going to the Vet's. None of our Dogs ever did. While there hasn't been an issue with the care of our animals over the last 20 years, I have had an extreme problem with the attitude of their staff as of late. The only staff member who has ever been nice and caring to the HUMANS of this family is Holly W. I'm not exactly sure how you can be a vet tech and not learn how to deal with the public, but this is a trend I've noticed in the last 5 years. First off, we were told the procedure would be a certain amount by the person who booked our appointment over the phone. When I went to pick up our pet I had well over that amount on me, but not the almost $100 extra that I apparently owed. When i explained this, my explanation was met with a snotty "Well I don't know who told you that, but no surgery here is that low" with a laugh. OH, OK. She then asks me who told us that and conveniently, the person who booked our appointment did not enter their initials into the computer. So then she wants to explain the going home care instructions and as I start to take notes, she stops speaking and stares at my phone. So I say "I'm just taking notes", and she turns the paper over and says "Uh they're right here". Does that really matter? Maybe I'd like be thorough in taking care of my pet. But sure, be rude about it. When she starts talking again I get a random phone call, OUT OF MY CONTROL, and she stops talking, looks a my phone and let's out a frustrated sigh. At this point I'm about to jump over the counter. I don't know why my mother chooses to go here, maybe it's the loyalty she feels after having all of our pets here for over 20 years, but I take my business to Tiogue Vet because at least I'm treated like a person and not roadkill on the side of the road. You can be sure I will urge others not to take their business here as well. If you love animals but don't like the public, then maybe you should have gone into another field. I worked with Dr. Mary many moons ago. She continues to be a kind, patient,  and gentle caregiver of our four legged friends. She is an excellent veterinarian and her staff is top notch. The office is spotless. HVC has everything for your pet's needs and then some. I cannot thank Dr. Mary enough for being so wonderful to me when I had to say goodbye to Abra, my sixteen year old cat. She helps me keep my golden retriever,  Junah, in tip top shape.  She was also instrumental in helping me place my niece's golden, who needed a loving home. I cannot recommend this place enough. The care is affordable, staff is friendly and doctors are informed and caring. Dr. Chang is great and takes care of my two cats like a pro. I stress easy where my older cat Ari is concerned due to an awful exp at his last vet (read my City Kitty Providence review) and they have taken outstanding care of him so far. Dr. Mary at Hope Veterinary Care has been treating my animals for many years.  The prices are reasonable.  Dr. Mary and her wonderful staff really care about your animals.  They take the time to examine my animals and answer any questions I might have.  When my cat was sick, I was calling every other day and did not feel like a pest.  The appreciated my concern. Hope Veterinary Care is a wonderful clinic with compassionate and caring staff and doctors. I bring my two cats there and they are always treated wonderfully. Dr. Mary takes the time to show you the cause of any illness - she will have you look at a slide in the microscope, look down the instrument to see your pet s ear canal, help you understand an x-ray, etc, just to help you feel more comfortable about your pet s treatment. I have witnessed Dr. Mary doing everything necessary to help my cats when they are sick and she explains every step of the procedure and prognosis. She also makes a point of finding you the most cost-effective medications and blood tests to help you save money. Prices increased because of the economy and she understands that not everyone can afford the prices at a vet clinic, so she does her absolute best to help you out. Additionally, I have read poor reviews about the wait time in the clinic - I have no complaint here. I know that the doctors and staff are doing their absolute best to stay on time, but sometimes unexpected events occur that make them run late. This is true in any profession, no matter where you go. And when the appointments are running late, the staff is very courteous and helps you out in any way they can by keeping you updated. Dr. Mary and the staff at Hope Veterinary Care are kind and compassionate people who are open and friendly, creating a homely and comfortable environment in their clinic. I would not take my pets anywhere else. I have yet to see such good quality in any other clinic I have been to in RI. I give my warm regards to the doctors and staff at Hope Veterinary Care - who, by the way, just celebrated their 25th anniversary of opening the clinic in September 2012! Congratulations! Read Less
