Staff was pleasant and helpful. My sweet Gracie looked wonderful when I picked her up and she was very happy. Gracie went from unruling fur to beautiful and soft. Thank you to the groomers!

I got my dog in January and signed her up right away because I was told she needed to get spayed right away.  Well it is the end of April and she is on a waiting list with no date in sight.  She is 8 months old.  They are short of help.  She travels with me as a Emotional Support dog and is airports etc with other male dogs. My dog and my grandsons dog are always having to go to the Warwick Hospital because they do not have room for sick visits.  I called the corporate office today and they tried to help and were unsuccessful.  They got no where with the Johnston office.  But I still have to pay my contract even though they cannot give me a spayed appointment as of yet because they are short help.   Never go there...  The staff is wonderful.  Loves my dog and my grandsons dog.  They treat me good when I am there.  However management seems to be the issue and problem at that store.  Warwick is so much better.  I also had to take her to MA hospital they were very accommodating to her first visit within 2 days of arrival...  Stay away from the Johnston hospital. Banfield has preventative care program for which I pay over $700 annually for my three cats.After waiting a month for this appointment, I am waiting in a treatment room for 25 minutes after the appointment time! In here alone with my cat, with no idea as to when I may be seen!! Dr Carlson is an amazing Vet, but this "hospital" leaves much to be desired. FOLLOW UP: 40 minutes after my appointment time the practice manager comes in to tell me the receptionist told me the doctor was delayed- she did not, and after all it is a doctor's office! She was both insincere and put out that I was unhappy. When I asked her where doctor was, she stated "on her way in but now had to wait because you asked to see me". Really? The contract I signed for this service would penalize me for early cancellation, so while I love this doctor, I will continue to follow up with corporate on the attitudes and practices of this facility. Awful, Awful, Awful customer service. My husband called to get the Vet Assistant's  name to file a formal complaint with Banfield. They would not provide him with her name. Looking back, after dealing with this woman, it was a blessing in disguise that I was not able to leave my dog with her. If this is how she treats her customers then I can't imagine how the animals are treated. I do not recommend the Banfield Hospital at the PetSmart in Johnston. The woman I dealt with had light brown hair, pulled back and wore a consistent frown to match her female dog personality. My youngest daughter was given a nice lesson on how awful people can be treated as customers. I was frankly in shock. I'm amazed that she treats people with such disregard and still has a job there. I hope for Banfield's sake, it's not for long. Read Less

All 4 of my purry munchkins see Dr. Arnold - still a new & young vet, she is one of the best general practice vets I have come across. She & Dr. Carlson trained under Dr. Holmes, whom was my oldest's previous vet before she left Banfield. I've only seen Dr. Carlson in lieu of being unable to get an appointment with Dr. Arnold, but they both are very sweet & knowledgeable & really enjoy their jobs. Dr. Arnold has a lot of heart & her goal, as told to me, is to watch her patients grow old.. 3 of mine have seen her as kittens. I ask for her every time & don't mind Dr. Carlson being their backup. My rating isn't directed towards the 2 of them, I rate them 4 1/2 stars, but the bigger picture is about Banfield.. I agree with the comments from others regarding the staff, I have had it out with many of them as far as incomplete or even inaccurate info.. sometimes I think they are too big for their patients to be able to care for them without being "babysat". Why do I stay?? Because Dr. Holmes previously & Dr. Arnold & Dr. Carlson now both do care, I feel comfortable & confident having my babies with them. I like the Banfield plans, I just wish the staff & computer systems are more in sync so I can care for my babies as I do & leave the rest up to Banfield.. Read Less

Staff is nice. but the service is constantly a long wait. I feel the staff is all uneducated and dont know what they are talking about half of the time. Can never get my puppy in , its always a "drop off" which hes usually there for 6/7 hours which is absolutely rediculous. Hes stuck in a cage for hours & they probably dont even give the pets water nor take them outside. Service needs to be improved ! " Read Less

My dog have been going there for many years. She have the same problem (skin condition) for the years and never have been resolved. She have been taking the same medications on and off. It is very frustrating. So, now, she have a limping leg from last August and she was checked in Maryland (other banfield hospital). They told me that I would need to have my dog to see the specialist after we return to RI from the vacation. I ve been calling and have my dog checked in... and NOTHING'S have been get done.... for nearly SIX months. They are NOT reliable.. and they do not have any sense of priorities. Maryland's Banfield Hospital in Frederick has a better service and their communication are WAY BETTER. They told me that my dog has a high level in her liver and isn't recommended to take the medications that Johnston Banfield have been giving her.....! Why wasn't I informed or being aware about her liver issue? I'm totally having a second thought about the Johnston Banfield's service and transfer my dog to other vet... Read Less

Pretty terrible. I have a difficult work schedule and they rescheduled my puppy being spayed multiple times to the point that I had to put it off for months. By the time they actually didn't change my appointment, I had to go to the warwick location to have it done and my puppy was in heat. They then drop it on me that u have to pay an extra 60 or so dollars because she's in heat. Wouldn't do the procedure unless I paid when it was their fault for putting it off for so long. When I complained about it later on I just kept being sent to a different person/manager/whatever and eventually gave up and never got my money back. I was also on the monthly plan and I added the flea and tick option. So I got my 2 or so flea and tick meds when my puppy had appointments but when I realized I had to go out of my way to visit the store to pick it up I called to see if I could have it sent to my house (which they have as an option). The person on the phone said they couldn't change it and I had to come pick it up every time. So I basically paid an extra 15 bucks or so a month for something I was supposed to receive monthly and only got it about twice. I'll never take a dog there again. Read Less

They give you a print out after each appointment and give you the cost-by-cost breakdown if you didn't have the wellness plan - how much you'd actually be spending... It definitely adds up!! I have had dogs my whole life and have seen many vets all over the state, so I feel that I know a thing or two about vets. I was going to a place in Westerly seeing that's where the last owner of my mastiff was taking him. The vet they had there was amazing, but moved to a place somewhere in CT and the replacement was terrible (main reason my dog doesn't like any vet now). I decided to try somewhere closer to home. I saw the free consultation coupon offer, read a few reviews, most were positive, and decided to try this vet. The employees there really seem to care and have been good with my dog (he doesn't like any vets especially vets with thermometers and has to be muzzled). It is a business so they are going to try to sell you their brand of pills and there wellness plans (so will any other vet). I have been several times and never had any issues. The last time my dog had a large abrasion/infection on his throat and the vet, vet tech, and myself tried to get it shaved to clean it up, but my dog was not having it (he is STRONG). The vet (Amanda Holmes- really nice!!) tried three different times stating that it would be much cheaper for me and safer for the dog if we can get this shaved without sedating the dog, but alas we had to go with plan B. I was impressed that a vet would take that much time (close o an hour) to try and help the animal and customer by not risking sedation and cost. Good news is the dog is fine, bad news is it cost $400 more because of the sedation etc. (i have major medical insurance so we actually got most of it back). I have never had to wait long at all to get into the room, but after that it is just like any other hospital a bit of a wait, but they do answer all of my questions/concerns when they get to me, so i figure they are doing the same with the other customers as well. The one thing I am not a fan of is that they want to take the dog back into their private space to do the exam, or check up ( I think it is so the owners don't get nervous when the vet tech has to hold the animal down). That never ends up working with my dog. They always need to bring him back in so I can help hold him. I will definitely go back there as well as my dog. Read Less

Banfield is very clean and the staff is very friendly! They are always able to get you an appt time you need based on your schedule and its very conveniently located in Petsmart. I do have to say it is ALWAYS a long wait time but when the doctor does come into the room, they never seem rushed and always take their time in answering every question you have and explain things in full. I would so much rather that then be on time and rush through my visit. Overall 5 stars.Read Less

Awful, Awful, Awful customer service. My husband called to get the Vet Assistant's  name to file a formal complaint with Banfield. They would not provide him with her name. Looking back, after dealing with this woman, it was a blessing in disguise that I was not able to leave my dog with her. If this is how she treats her customers then I can't imagine how the animals are treated. I do not recommend the Banfield Hospital at the PetSmart in Johnston. The woman I dealt with had light brown hair, pulled back and wore a consistent frown to match her female dog personality. My youngest daughter was given a nice lesson on how awful people can be treated as customers. I was frankly in shock. I'm amazed that she treats people with such disregard and still has a job there. I've only seen Dr. Carlson in lieu of being unable to get an appointment with Dr. Arnold, but they both are very sweet & knowledgeable & really enjoy their jobs. My dog have been going there for many years. She have the same problem (skin condition) for the years and never have been resolved. She have been taking the same medications on and off. It is very frustrating. So, now, she have a limping leg from last August and she was checked in Maryland (other banfield hospital). They told me that I would need to have my dog to see the specialist after we return to RI from the vacation. Pretty terrible. I have a difficult work schedule and they rescheduled my puppy being spayed multiple times to the point that I had to put it off for months. By the time they actually didn't change my appointment, I had to go to the warwick location to have it done and my puppy was in heat. I have had dogs my whole life and have seen many vets all over the state, so I feel that I know a thing or two about vets. I was going to a place in Westerly seeing that's where the last owner of my mastiff was taking him. The vet they had there was amazing, but moved to a place somewhere in CT and the replacement was terrible (main reason my dog doesn't like any vet now). I decided to try somewhere closer to home. I saw the free consultation coupon offer, read a few reviews, most were positive, and decided to try this vet. The employees there really seem to care and have been good with my dog (he doesn't like any vets especially vets with thermometers and has to be muzzled). Banfield is very clean and the staff is very friendly! They are always able to get you an appt time you need based on your schedule and its very conveniently located in Petsmart. I do have to say it is ALWAYS a long wait time but when the doctor does come into the room, they never seem rushed and always take their time in answering every question you have and explain things in full. I would so much rather that then be on time and rush through my visit. Overall 5 stars.Read Less
