I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this practice. They have accommodated us greatly and gone out of their way for us many times this summer. We primarily see Dr. Hopkins but have also seen Dr. Donahue and they are both fantastic. The front desk is always kind, professional and organized. The techs are exceptional with both the people and animals they encounter each day. The practice is clean and parking is a breeze. We adopted a dog with some pre-existing conditions plus wanted to get her spayed. On top of this our other older dog happened to break his toe this summer. Every single time we've called (and it's been many!) we were able to easily make an appointment usually for the same day. Frequently when calling with a question we were able to speak to the vet directly or we would get a phone call back very quickly. They have been kind enough to look at pictures of our small dog's incision over email saving us a trip into the office and the vets have personally called us to answer questions and follow-up many times. Both vets are kind and reserve judgement when we have been panicky pet parents.Highly recommend this practice. Read Less

A lot of unnecessary up charges due to unneeded services tacked onto the bill to rack up $$$$300 for an office visit which consisted of: a rabies vaccine, a convenia injection, a snap blood test and a "sedated exam."By the grace of god, my mom was bringing one of her cats to her vet for his yearly exam Monday evening. My cat had his procedure done Monday morning. I felt something wasn't right. I sent pictures of everything to my mom to show her vet. He looked at the invoice and was confused. He said he would like to see my cat immediately.I brought my cat (an abandoned older cat with severe stomatitis and rotted teeth) to the vet my mother has been bringing her animals to for 15+ years. The doctor evaluated his mouth efficiently sans sedation..... no issues evaluating whatsoever..... "sedated exam" necessary at Ferguson that we paid $300? I think the hell not.... if you know what you are doing.....Also, the quote I was provided for this cats extensive dental work was quoted for the whole mouth. They were only able to do half of his mouth during his procedure. I was charged $54 shy of the entire quote although they did half the mouth...No medications were sent home. No aftercare appointment. Just a Convenia shot and "we will check on him in 7 weeks and do the rest of the mouth." Sounds suspicious, right? Because it is.The new dr was surprised Ferguson had done nothing to address his advanced stomatitis. A Convenia shot is and was not enough. Luckily, our beloved baby is also now on another antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory. We have seen an improvement in as little as one day.. The fact that Ferguson didn't even want to schedule an aftercare appointment is alarming after a major surgery. I'm glad they didn't though!! Cause I'm sure it would have been another $100+..... even though my moms vet includes cost of aftercare visits in surgery costs.. which are SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than Ferguson. Don't be fooled by the "prices are less because they skip necessary work" argument that vets like this practice will tell you... I looked at all the invoices and surgical notes for my moms cats  procedures.. same exact thing..... just not marked up prices since her vet doesnt have a brand new facility they need to probably pay off.... don't be fooled by appearances this facility... one of the most unprofessional I have been to....To make matters worse... I showed the invoice and charges to my mothers vet (and my cats new vet), they gasped, shook their heads, and said nothing (they didn't want to speak badly about another practice... that's when you know they're professionals). I asked how much this procedure would be had I gone there first.... they said $400 at the absolute max.. for the entire mouth......My moms cat has had 4 surgical procedures removing cancerous tumors that STILL don't even come close to what I paid for his "sedated eval/1st office visit" and the surgical procedure...The cost for my moms cat to get one of his tumors removed was less than my $300 office visit!Thousands+ of dollars later, the only regret I have is that I didn't just get over the 25 min car ride and bring Simba to Countryside vet in Wrentham,MA instead of this vet  (Ferguson) 1 minute down the road.... however, now we rest assured he is in competent, honest, compassionate and a highly efficient level of care.I understand people have had great experiences and maybe mine is a "once in a blue moon," however, I'm truly disgusted with the lack of professionalism and honesty. I wouldn't be surprised if the practice knew of the amount of money we had raised from the selfless and incredibly kind acts of others through a GoFundMe I had organized, and just wanted to reap all the funds dry..... which they would have (and then some!) if we chose to continue to treat our pets here..... I guess it's my fault for being proud of this incredible story and positivity surrounding this animal and sharing the fundraiser story with them...Once again, I understand everyone has different experiences, but I just want my nightmare experience to serve a purpose and help others.... I'm not sure why Ferguson did unnecessary work, racked up charges, couldn't answer questions in a direct and linear manner, and blatantly lacked compassion for an animal and family who put their trust in this facility to help us during our time of need... it takes a certain type of person to be able to do that, and I will leave it at that..I'm also grateful I learned of all of this before bringing my other pets here..... blessing in disguise. This place was recommended to us last year by a friend and I’m really glad it was. I’ve been there for minor checkups and some serious emergencies that ultimately required surgery on my pup. Through it all the staff was always great, and everything went smooth with my pups. I’ve been to other vets that when you receive the bills they are shocking, and loaded with seemingly random expensive charges, but not here. I never felt as though I wasn’t paying a fair price for exactly the service I was getting. What stood out to me also were the post surgical visit checkups which sometimes required some more hands on intensive work. These were all extremely reasonable costs, $30 usually if my memory serves correct. Which makes sense in my mind as the bulk of the cost came from the initial procedure, but I’ve been elsewhere where the follow ups were costing as much as ordinary vet visits. Read Less

Stay Away from this place. They do a bunch of unnecessary tests to make money. I took my two dogs in for Heartworm medication and they ended up handing me a bill for $466. Totally ridiculous, they try to up sell all their services so they can get as much money out of you. I will NEVER go back there. Read Less

As far as I'm concerned Ferguson's is only looking to make a quick buck. Don't treat your dog fairly decent all that concerned about is how fast I can get you back for another exam. So make sure you have plenty of insurance because you'll need it with them. Read Less

Excellent business with a very caring, courteous staff. We brought our kitty RASCO in to put an end to her suffering and the entire staff was nothing short of perfect during her transition and our grief. We opted for a cremation and they have a list of tasteful vessels and they offer a clay imprint of your pets paw at no charge and whatever service they used gave us our RASCO back with a nice greeting card, a coin of remembrance and some literature for curing the imprint as well as other niceties. I can't say first hand how awesome this place is, but I want to sincerely thank them for hiring my daughter in what is her very first Vet Tech position since she decided to go back to school to get her degree!! She has only THE BEST things to say about each and every Doctor and associate! She has worked her 'tail' off for over two years, and all she's wanted is for an animal hospital to give her a chance to show them how hard working, positive, funny, smart and with the highest work ethics I have ever personally seen. Many years ago (maybe 12ish) I brought my cat Mr. Miagi and my pug Louie. I loved the vet but the receptionist was completely miserable and unpleasant to deal with. I reluctantly broke up with my vet because of her and never returned.My neighbors mentioned that they bring their dog Roxie here and are happy with the vet and staff. Recently my dog began coughing suddenly. I was worried that something was stuck in his throat or he had aspirated pneumonia from a recent surgery.  I called my vet but they never returned my call so what else does a concerned dog mom do? Google emergency vets close by. Ferguson came up and I noticed that there were new owners and new location. Like a crazy lady I showed up at 8am with no appointment and my hacking pup. Guess what? They actually saw him! The desk was super accommodating and understanding. The vet techs were all very friendly. The vet Dr. Donahue was very thorough and knowledgeable. He took xrays, sent them to radiology, diagnosed Rhody with bronchitis and gave us a cough suppressant and antibiotics. They are more expensive than my regular vet but still much more reasonable than Ocean State. Dr. Donahue followed up on Rhodys progress a few days later and then again a few days ago. Rhodys cough is gone. I'm thankful that they were able to help him in a pinch. Overall this is a great place to bring your pets. Read Less

I will forever have the utter most respect for this veterinary hospital and the people that work there. Last week Tuesday my puppy got very ill very suddenly. At 5:30pm I realized I needed to get him to the vet asap. Due to the time this made getting to the vet I usually go to impossible as they close at 6pm (like many other veterinary hospitals in the neighborhood). I was calling vets around the Providence area for about 30mins with no luck until I got hold of Ferguson Animal Hospital who were able to see him at 630pm (bearing in mind they closed at 7pm). When we got there Christa was at the front desk and was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our boy was very sick and she rushed him to the back where the vets could work with him. I believe there were two vets that were working with him but, we only spoke to Dr. Hopkins who I now have great respect for - he is very direct and straight forward about what is going on which I think is very hard to come by in a vet. Especially with our particular circumstance we really appreciated being told exactly what was going on and what we could expect. The team at Ferguson literally dropped everything they were doing to help our baby. They worked way past 7pm. Every single person there is so sweet. Dr Hopkins, dr Donahue, Erik, Julie, Melissa, all the girls honestly. I had to take my shihtzu there and they had to extract one of his eyes. They were so good explaining everything, sympathizing with what I was going thru, checking up on him while he was in surgery, they were just amazing. I'm very happy that I live close to this Animal Hospital because they're great and I love animals and I needed a vet! This place has also been close to my heart when I had my Parrot it was driving with me when it decided it wanted to feed me , which I had no idea I thought it was throwing up. I ran into this place and they assured me everything was okay I wasn't a client here or anything I just walked in and they talked to me and calmed me down and from that day I KNEW eventually one day I would end up back there and I did! So I got a kitten Saturday , and I knew something was wrong so I remembered this place due to what I mentioned. I literally called yesterday and they made an apt today for me. I went was welcomed very nicely. The vet assistant is so sweet she handled my baby with care. Now my kitten was seen by Dr. Marandola he was amazing , thank you Jesus! This is my first time with a kitten and I was nervous , I'm also not happy I had my kitten for 4 days to find out the shelter didn't take care of him , so my kitten is very sick , the Dr gave me all the proper meds, you can also tell he really cared about my baby and I felt super comfortable. I love this place. Very very clean , for the most part it was quiet. My kitten is startled easily but he fell asleep with all the noise as we waited. Ferguson Animal Hospital recently changed ownership. My pets usually saw Dr. Dwyer, so it was no surprise when I followed her to her new practice. However, soon after the transfer my cat needed his eye removed due to some chronic glaucoma. She recommended the new vet at Ferguson, Dr. Hopkins. He quoted me half of what Eye Care for Animals in Warwick quoted me. I found him to be incredibly knowledgeable, personable, experienced, and most of all, fair. We had some unfortunate complications after the surgery and his costs were reasonable and he made me feel like my situation was a priority. I really enjoy him as a vet and the clinic in general. The staff is nice and the facility is very clean. I highly recommend it. Read Less

I absolutely love Dr. Dwyer.  I think she is genuine and caring.  I would refer her to anyone.  She clearly explains things and appears empathetic.  I'm surprised to hear some of the comments about her.  The staff has also been wonderful.  I find all the front staff friendly.  I have found the vet techs to be equally nice.  Agreed with the other remarks about Cory being nice.  Negatives are wait times.  In general I wait 30 plus minutes after I show up on time.  I would leave my PCP if I waited more than 30.  I was not surprised to hear negative comments about Dr. Donahue as I found him cold, rude, and thoroughly condescending.  If it wasn't for Dr Dwyer I would have left there. Yesterday I went in with 2 of my friends and their cat Disco, he was very ill. They were able to take us in the same day, and every single person on staff that we dealt with was excellent. Unfortunately, Disco had to be put down. It's a tough situation for everyone involved, and with 3 adults bawling in the room the staff was kind, courteous, and respectful to both us and Disco. I've been going there for 15 years and spent thousands of dollars (yes, I paid 365 bucks to have my bunny's teeth cleaned). I went there yesterday to have my dog's rear end glands expressed.....a 2 minute job. I had a 1:00 appointent, got there 15 minutes ahead of time......and at 1:15 I hadn't been seen. But the people who came in after me with a dog and a cat (no emergency) got in before me. I get a lot of respect there. I can tell that people aren't going there anymore and for good reason. Just amazing. Everything was neat and tidy. They were really good with my cat also. Unlike the previous review from someone else, they spent plenty of time with me and my cat to explain different things, and the assistant furthered what the doctor was saying after she left. I'm sure it depends whats going on at the time. There was no wait when I got there, as soon as I was there for the appointment, they took him in. But even if I did have to wait 15 minutes, its just like a regular doctor, you can't expect them to rush right over for you if they're caring for another patient. The other patient is just as important. The prices were extremely reasonable, and they didn't try to make me do an bogus tests like my previous vet did. A bunch of no-nothing dummies that probably got C's and D's in school, killed my 7 month old kitten Ziggy getting him fixed. Their filthy place and lack of proper care gave him an infection, he suffered horribly for days with tubes in him until they finally had to put him down. I hope they are reading this, because I want them to know that I WAKE UP EVERY NIGHT SEETHING IN ANGER. It has been a year and I hate them all even more than when it happened. The vet that killed him is not there anymore, big surprise. FERGUSON IS DEAD, DO NOT TRUST THESE DUMB YOUNG VETS THAT ARE FRESH OUT OF SCHOOL, USING HIS NAME! They were kind, caring, PATIENT, honest. They had nothing bad to say about my overweight cat. And unlike hoffman they didn't try selling me the store or push antibiotics on my kitty for no reason. Gave me no unnecessary tests. They were very informative and they patiently answered ALL of my 20+ questions. Very very nice. I am so happy I took my baby there for a second opinion, even though I didn't need one, these are vets I feel like I can trust. Also very affordable. Skip other vets, save yourself some money and time looking around, this here is the best so far. I signed up just write a review for them here. It's the least I can do for all they have done for me. The only reason I didn't give a grand 5 star is because I haven't met all the vets there and I only have my experience in time, to give a perfect review would be unreasonable. I can't speak for different circumstances. In my opinion they were very Professional and nice. I encourage people to write reviews as well because there alot of people, like me, who value them. I have nothing but praise for this hospital and was surprised to read a review that was bad. maybe if the person wasn't aware of costs they should have asked. I had a 14 year old dog that was attended to here and Dr Saslaw removed a tumor the size of a grapefruit, giving me more time with my best friend and when it was time for me to let her go,she helped me through it and then even referred me to a business called final gift which creamated my dog so I could still have here with me. they also let me work out payment plans with them which very few vets now do, try finding one so i can not believe they don't care about animals. Ferguson Animal Hospital exists soley for the all-mighty dollar, showing no compassion or interest in the pet. Their approach to the actual animals is phony and contrived. At check out you'll be surprised by the fees, as they do not explain their procedures as they go and how what they are doing might affect your wallet. I made an appointment for a simple and quick procedure (butt-gland extraction). In cities like NYC, Wash DC and San Diego, this never cost more than 15 dollars; here in RI, it costs around 25 bucks; except at Ferguson where I paid the visit fee of 48 and change,, plus 13 for the procedure. All because the vet felt the joints in his hind legs. She never offered details of her ""extensive check-up"" and how it would cost me an extra 50 bucks. Not to mention that in my dog's 14 years this is the very first clinic that felt it necessary to muzzle my dog. Seems like they fall short in customer service to me.
