Awesome vet! I'm tired of vets that take you for every dime, make you feel cheap if you ask pricing, and are generally not conscious that normal people live on a budget. I had heard good things about Mt. Hope Animal Hospital, so I tried them twice, once with my dog and and once with an injured chicken (yes, a chicken). The office staff is friendly and seems to genuinely care about your pet. The vet was down to Earth yet very knowledgeable, and answered questions happily. What I am happiest about is that they are very reasonably priced and FAIR! This is what animal health care should be - good people, great care, fair pricing. I found my vet! Read Less

Live down the road so when we got a new puppy it was our first choice. And we are so happy! This is a great place. Honestly this place is a lifesaver! As a military family we don't always have a lot of notice before things happen. Today was one of those days! I have been bringing all my dogs to Dr Bert since 1995 and will never go anywhere else. First Dr Bert takes him time with you and explains everything, answers all your questions, and offers you his medical advice in detail. He heas been very good to all my babiess. BEWARE ! BEWARE ! BEWARE !Mt Hope Animal "Hospital" is not a hospital !  It is at best, a mediocre, understaffed vet clinic.A  vet hospital is ready and prepared to treat emergency situations immediately !  This is NOT the case here !Yesterday at 1:00 in the afternoon, my Cavalier was attacked, viciously, by a. Pit bull.  Both the owner of the pit bull and my dog are patients of Mt Hope.While entire to Mt Hoe from Middletown we called  and were told that no Vet was available !!  We should go elsewhere!  The extent of my dog's injuries was described and the answer was the same !  No vet here !!My dog is currently at Ocean State Vet Hospital in intensive care!  She was treated immediately at Newport Vet Hospital and then transferred,My two and a half year old Cavalier had surgery to remove her eye and has severe lung contusions that ma cost her her life !Had she had timely vet care this may have had a different outcome !SHAME on Dr. Bert and his "staff" !!!From a broken dog mother...go anywhere else...PLEASE !!Marion Crichton King Read Less

Dr. Bert, Dr. Leclerc, Dr. Elias and the entire team have provided OUTSTANDING care to all of them; very professional and compassionate! We have two dogs we have brought to this facility for the past 2 1/2 years and we didn't have a bad experience until recently when our bulldog was misdiagnosed. The staff falsified our dogs records claiming he was improving when in fact he continued to lose weight and have no signs of improvement. Staff wrote in our dogs records that we claimed he was better but in reality , we were at the vet 2-3 times a week as concerned pet owners because our dog was very ill and because they kept advising us to come back. The lump they claimed was an abscess- in which they stuck a drain through was actually his swollen lymph node they improperly treated for almost 3 weeks causing two other lymph nodes now to be permanently damaged. I will never recommend this facility to anyone as they can not be trusted and have clearly shown they are inexperienced with sick animals. Thankfully Ocean State Veterinary Specialists have knowledgeable efficient staff who was able to correctly diagnose our dog who suffered under the care of Mt Hope Animal Hospital! BEWARE!Read Less

By far this is the best Animal hospital in RI. I moved here from Florida, and was searching which seemed like forever for a great Vet!They are so accommodating, professional and friendly here.They definitely pay attention to detail and are caring enough to make follow up calls when you pet is sick. Not the warm, welcoming veterinarian's office that we are used to. We just moved to the area, and on our initial visit, our vet asked the basic questions about our puppy, but didn't go into much more about the overall well being of the dog, stages of training, milestones, etc. Things were worse on day 2 when we went to pick up the puppy's medicine. Only after about 5 minutes of standing in front of the counter did a receptionist finally address my presence. After that, there was no interest at all to answer any of my questions or concerns about dosage and possible side effects. Lastly, she pushed back after I asked her to fill out our pet insurance claim form and didn't want to fill it out. After she did finally fill it out, she refused to fax it for me (which is what I've seen is the standard). We won't be back here, and I just cancelled our next appointment with them. This is too bad because this was a pretty quick drive from our house and I was hoping for a difference experience. Read Less

I don't think I could say enough how wonderful this place is! They help me with all my animals. Reptiles, birds, chinchillas dogs and even all my rescue/foster cats and kittens (trust me there have been a lot! Lol) They have the best prices and the biggest hearts. They also take on the job of seeing and treating the animals from the pet store I work at, Animal Instincts. Dr. Bert and Angie even made a house call when I had to put down my best friend and first dog, Velvet, that had cancer. We've been bringing our dogs here for years and they have received great care.  What prompted me to write this review was the kind, caring and warm treatment we received very recently when I had to bring my nearly 17 year old dog to be put to sleep.  It is a devastating thing to go through and they were really great.  I have had some experience with other vets in the area and the experiences were not very positive, hence the reason I took a recommendation from a friend and switched to Mt. I didn't like it here. Went a couple of times and they were 15-20 minutes late to scheduled appointment and when the doctor was checking my dog and her joints he bent her leg wrong and made her yelp which then caused her to limp for a couple weeks after. I'm new to Mt Hope Animal Hospital but have brought my Chihuahua there 3 times in the last 6 months and I can't say enough great things about them! Everyone is fantastic!! From the front desk staff to the awesome techs who truly enjoy what they do... I had Dr Bert the first time who is very professional, knowledgeable and gentle with small animals (my dog's teeth sure did sparkle after his dentistry) and now Dr Leclaire who is new to Mt Hope and truly an asset to the animal hospital! She has a wonderful disposition and her love of animals really shows. I know my fur-kids will be receiving the best possible care from everyone there. Very friendly, great staff. When you walk in the whole back wall is full of pet pictures sent from their owners. They are not too pricy and a great place to take your animals. I'm from Texas and use to live on a farm so a good vet is important. My wife and I have two dogs and this will be their only vet for as long as I'm on the island.Read Less

I have brought my dog here for 3 years and have always had a great experience there. They are fairly cheap and are very thorough. We even had our dog neutered here which they made the whole experience a breeze and our dog had a quick recovery!  We used to go to Dr. Kates in Middletown until both of our dogs passed away and he failed to identify that they had contracted Rocky Mt Spotted Fever so we tried Mt.
