I've been going there since my pooch was a pup... at the time I googled every vet around & they were the most affordable to have my dog neutered so I gave them a shot. Once I was there I met Dr.B; I couldn't speak highly enough of him. I found out his Mom was in charge of the greyhound adoption program at "Lincoln Park" (now Twin River), for years... as a past employee of the track I remembered her; how well and was liked & what a tremendous job she did with the dogs... it made me very comfortable. The walk in appointment setup was extremely convenient for me & has remained that way for the 13+ years I've taken Bishop there. The staff is awesome, way beyond  friendly, compassionate & knowledgeable. Tia & Sam are great; They always welcome with a warm smile & remember my dog & I. I have been coming here for 4 years, as long as I've had my cat since she was a bitty 5 weeks old. Hoffman is a small, well-run animal clinic that is excellent for routine check-ups, vaccinations and minor health issues. They don't do appointments, so you just show-up as you need and I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my cat to get checked. Dr. Bazaar is very experienced and great with the pets. Since my cat was found as part of a stray litter, they've given me medicine for stomach worms, ear mites, and flea medicine. All issues have been resolved!The prices are fair (standard office visit fee plus any additional work) and the staff is very caring and helpful. We have a dog with epilepsy which can be extremely costly. Unfortunately we bounced around to a few vets before finding Hoffman's and honestly they are the reason our fur baby Einstein is alive today. They have amazing prices and you can tell Dr B  and his staff work there because they truly love animals and to them, it's not about profit. My only wish was that we found him sooner. He is extremely knowledgeable and him and his staff will go above and beyond. Dr. Hoffman was great. I i came to see him when one of my two new puppies was ill. He could have easily had me do all kinds of tests but instead he sent me to the hospital and didn't even charge me for the office visit. My puppy ended up spending almost two weeks in the hospital. Dr. Hoffman's commitment was to my dog's survival first and not for making money. That's honorable. When we came back for a fallow up visit the receptionist, who is just the sweetest, remembered all of us! When my daughter refused to help me get the dogs out of the office and into the car (They were not used to a leash yet) the receptionist left her desk and helped me out. When the dogs got medications it was organized in a very clear way so I knew exactly what to give to each dog. I am planning to keep this clinic as my dog's medical care from now on. Read Less

I have had nothing but excellent service and experiences.  I have taken all of my pets there for over 5 years, I got my shih tzu spayed there, and I like how they are very honest about letting you know what items are the most important to get done and why when you are on a budget, they have walk in first come first serve which is great when you have a unpredictable schedule or something arises suddenly, as well as they send reminds for shots and what not in the mail which is very helpful. the secretary is always so friendly, and it's great that they always have familiar faces working through the years so you know how they interact with your pets, and your pets always have a consistent vet experience. This place by far give the wrong information and misdiagnose animals I brought my dog and not only did they charge extra but they SOLD me a ear cleanser for my dog that had an ear infection brought her to Coventry animal hospital and they helped me right away and my baby was good within 24 hours !!! First off, let me begin by saying on have only dealt with Hoffman over the phone. I was calling for information to help my sick cat and the woman I spoke with was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. She gave me exactly the information I was looking for and I really appreciate her honesty. This experience made me feel that they truly do have the pet's interest at heart. I have had nothing but good experiences at Hoffman. I have been taking my Labrador here since 2013. It was only after me complaining about the excessive cost and lack of care by another local "Animal Hospital" that my doggy day care "The Barking Lot" made a suggestion to try Hoffman. I was bit hesitant mostly because of the location and never having heard of it before. It was only after I mentioned it to some family and friends that they told me about their long history of helping the local community with low-cost, quality care and their dedication to rescues that I decided to make the switch.My recommendation is that Hoffman should be used for yearly check-ups and common doggy illnesses-kennel cough, ear aches, allergies etc. and save the emergency visits for a true animal hospital.My former Animal Hospital had quoted close to $400 for a visit,rabies, boardetella, influenza, Lyme, heart-worm and fecal test. Hoffman quoted apx, $210. There really wasn't much of a question of making the switch, other than the hesitation of ... what is the quality of care?Upon her initial appointment the Vet was very consistent and honest. He didn't push any non essential or add-on items to the visit. If she needed something he suggested it, if she didn't he left it out. About a year ago she came down with a case of gastroenteritis. I was concerned for her bloated belly and walk-in for a visit. The truth is that she really just needed to fart it out; however, the office knew that should it not be "gas" she would need xrays. He could have taken me in and charged me an office visit like my old hospital did, but instead he kindly told me I should leave and go to a more sophisticated facility, like Ocean State Animal Hospital, where they were equipped to take care of her case. I was much impressed by their honesty and genuine concern for her. This yearly appointment I was just as impressed. Same quality of care, he suggested an ear cleaner which was $25 dollars, and I was happy to start that treatment. He also suggested a brand of heart-worm preventative, but gave me the option of ordering from the web (1-800 pet med's, or something similar) where they have a better selection. Do not Listen to the Bad Reviews, This Guy Truly Cares about animals we found him by luck, yes it is not in the best area, and the staff is well spoken we have never had issues, but our dog has cost us about 15,000$ so far in medical expenses from Ocean State, yes parking is tight but there is generally always parking. If your a genuine person this is the best place to go, they do not try to over charge you. The people talking bad have never had to have a real animal emergency ! take one Trip to ocean state and these folks at Hoffmans are angels This Hospital has helped to ease costs anyway they can . This is by far the most inexpensive place to go in rhode island, and the care quality is the same as any other vet except the owners are REAL people not money hungry. we are more then thankful to have them as our primary vet, And we Drive 30+ mins to come to them ! My cat was not feeling so hot on a Friday night, and we all know that panic when we think of having to bring them to an emergency Vet clinic!  Luckily Hoffman Animal Hospital was open on Saturday and they fit us right in, despite having called just that morning.  We were so thankful!  The staff is friendly and set me at ease.  The Vet was great with my pet and gave me lots of information on how to care for cat as well as lots of advice on how to care for her as she gets older.  I would happily take any of my pets back to Hoffman! Four years ago, upon the insistence of a close friend, I cautiously cruised through the southern part of the city with my pooch, who was due for a checkup.  It was time for this kind of change, if for no other reason than the fact that her last vet had kept us waiting for over 90 minutes on her previous two visits.They use the walk-in model here at Hoffman, but the quality of care certainly does not feel like a typical clinic - not even remotely.  From the moment we walked in we were made to feel at home, before being taken straight away and as a result of these consistently positive experiences, we have been happily returning ever since.The vets and their assistants are patient, thorough and efficient.  Best of all, when it comes time to handle the business end of things, they try to cut deals for you on pricing (always rounding down, sometimes way down).  On top of this, they have also been known to dispense treats, toys, bandanas and samples of dog food for no other reason than they love your fluff-balls almost as much as you do.  And when the receptionist hands out these much appreciated goodies, like everyone here, it is always done with a smile.So don't be scurred, head down to Washington Park (aka Woofington Bark, sorry 'bout that) with your best friend and I promise there will be a lot of tail wagging. Our family has been going here for 20+ years. That being said, we absolutely love this animal hospital.The waiting room has always been spotless, and accommodates cats in a separate waiting room (if feline owners would rather their cats not be near dogs). The staff is very friendly, and always knows my dog's names. I thought I was special until I realized the staff knows most of their patient's by name.If you look behind the receptionist desk you are bound to see a dog they have rescued. They normally rescue a dog that stays in the office. Presently, they have a very elderly Chihuahua who is missing part of her jaw.I also like the fact that this is a walk-in animal hospital. Seriously. Save yourself the money and go somewhere else. I went here because I had an emergency, they are walk in and they are and ANIMAL HOSPITAL. Also the woman Vet featured on their homepage has a bunch of cats so that seemed to be a good thing.The people are nice, but I paid $45 for an honest-to-goodness VET to tell me that "I don't feel anything but we don't have X-ray" and "the vet who is good with taking blood from cats isn't here." I was then told my cat was probably dying and given a  recommendation to take him to another clinic (Ocean State Veterinary Specialists.) If my cat hadn't been having seizures on the table I would have refused to pay, but I was in a hurry to keep him from dying so I paid. Hoffman Animal Hospital was GREAT! They were the cheapest to get my cat declawed, took her in the morning and was able to pick her up that night. They allowed me to call in and check on her during the day. I recommend everyone to them for this procedure and they are now my cats permanent vet. The decor could be a little more warming and inviting but the service was excellent. I rescued my cat from a shelter and only accept the best for her and I'm SO GLAD I went here for this procedure and that it went so extremely well. Read Less

Frightening! I brought two of my cats here years ago to have them both neutered. It was so uninviting, I walked in and they pretty much took my cats from me and told me when to come back. Upon my return, there was one cat in the cat carrier and they told me that I was "all set". I had to remind them that I came with two cats in which they went back and fetched my other cat. Basically, I felt rushed, I was ridiculed on my parenting skills. She barely even touched my cat. Barely addressed the issue. Pushed products on me and made me buy antibiotics for my cat who didn't need it. The dose prescribed was too high and my poor baby was barfing all night. She didn't even tell me why he had to take it. She told me he had fleas and flea dirt when she barely looked at him, and I know he doesn't - I check all the time, and he gets frontline! She tried getting me to buy revolution from her. I took him to another vet (whom I also wrote a review about) And the vet told me there were no evidence of fleas and the black stuff was pimples. What a waste of money. the good thing was that she didn't make get tests for things he doesn't need, which is why I went there after reading a review, so that's good. And also the receptionists and tecnicians were extremely nice and caring, friendly, and helpful. Unfortunately, they were not the vet that looked at my baby. So long story short, I thought I would save money going there, and the fact they are walk-in only and open so late attracted me there, but I should have saved money and time choosing one aside from these alluring qualities. Three years ago, I adopted my first greyhound and needed a vet who is grey-savvy since the breed has some chemical sensitivities, including problems with common anasthetics. The Hoffman Animal Hospital was recommended to me by other greyhound owners and so we started taking our dog to them.In the three years since, we have received nothing but fabulous care. The entire staff is courteous, friendly, and genuinely caring. We foster greyhounds and have brought 6 different dogs to them over the years for treatment. They have often given us discounts for many of these treatments, and are big supporters of dogs in need. Most times I visit, they have a rescue case behind the desk, and they are always asking after our fosters.The two vets at this office are Dr Bazaar and Dr Huston. We've seen both but Dr Huston is our regular. She is extremely helpful, friendly, and competant. Everyone is very gentle with the dogs and I like how they're not constantly trying to sell us something (which seems to be a hazard with other vets). I think the price is reasonable and likely competitive, though I haven't been to others to really give a fair comparison. They don't schedule appointments; during open hours, you simply turn up with your pets and are seen in order OR need (emergency cases always go straight through). Only specific procedures are scheduled in advance.As someone who fosters and is a dog nut in general, I appreciate the service I receive here. My greyhound actually loves going the vet, probably because they feed him treats the whole time he is there! Read Less
