Terrible recent experiences at Washington County Veterinarian Hospital. Dr Troob (who is an owner and my vet for several years, who a few months ago put down my 15yr old Pug), he recently called me telling that if I didn't take down my negative review of my terrible experience I just had with Dr. Lopes during an appointment with my Pug puppy, that he will no longer neuter my puppy (which the day before he said he would definitely do within a week) and said he would also cut all ties from me with him and Washington County Veterinarian Hospital. My honest negative experience review of my experience with this vet simply said, "Dr Lopes is very cold and rude, terrible experience." I told him I won't take it down. Since it upset him that I made that public statement, he forced me to leave there and find another Vet establishment. I couldn't believe the terrible treatment! Read Less

This Hospital and Washington County cannot see my dog, who has been in a long line of our dogs who have been patients, because they are too booked. Their suggestion is to go to an emergency hospital where we will have to pay emergency fees. Despite the fact that Dr. Otis, Dr. Roy, and Dr. Greene have been my dogs' doctors for 15 years, they are denying service because they are too booked. Such nice people, so poorly run. Completely unreliable when you truly need them. Read Less

Dr Roy and Dr Otis are Fabulous and so are all the staff there. They are kind and caring and just really care about the pets that they deal with.  We have brought our dogs to them for many years but this past Wednesday had to bring in our Harley for a final visit to be put to sleep.  Dr Otis was there and he made this such a peaceful experiences for us.  He reassured us that we were doing the right thing for our pet, despite the fact that he could have made much more money having us chose to have chemo for her for the cancer.  I could not respect the vets more in this practice, they both are amazing men, both Dr Roy and Dr Otis have always been wonderful with all the dogs that we have brought to them.  Every staff member we have ever dealt with there clearly loves animals and I have always felt comfortable bringing my dogs to them.  I want to thank them for giving us so much respect and making this final difficult day as peaceful as possible for our pet and for us.  You all are wonderful!!! Dr. Otis cared for my dog (giving vaccines, checking bumps). He seemed competent, caring and professional. Unfortunately he is often not available when I need an appointment. My major complaint with this South County Vet is with the staff at the front desk. Regardless of whom I speak with, they are curt, uncaring and add procedures $$$ never asked for. The veterinarians must be aware of this as it seems to be systematic. Never a please or thank you, they huff and seem genuinely annoyed when asked for the price of a procedure. Recently, I called to let them know my dog had to be rushed to emergency. Do you think the person on the phone could have said, "Gee, I hope everything will be ok" or "That must have been scary"? Nope. I'm disappointed and left feeling they are in it for the money. Read Less

On 7/11/2011 my Dogue de Bordeaux of 7 years suffered from a fatal case of Pyometra and unfortunately had to be euthanized. The staff at South County Veterinary Hospital handled her Euthanization in such an inhumane, disrespectful, despicable, unprofessional and horrific manner it has taken me over a week to overcome the shock and awe to begin mourning my loyal companion. During the Euthanization the Doctor preforming the procedure stuck my animal over 4 times with the barbiturate, each time injecting a little bit more. The first insertion in her Right hind leg delivered about 10% of the Barbiturate. After the second insertion in her front right leg, the doctor left the room to get a "smaller needle", by her return, over 3 minutes later my dog's breathing had significantly slowed, her tongue had fallen completely out of her mouth and Doctor upon returning, asked if I could move my animal on her right side, so she could "TRY" her left hind leg, as she was "having Trouble finding a vein". This is a 125lbs Mastiff, I could physically see her vein. After changing the needle to a "smaller" needle and injecting about another 20% of the Barbiturate, she apologized and asked if I would mind if she could "TRY" her left front leg. She than proceeds to SHAVE my dogs front left leg, (please keep in mind my poor animal has already had about 50% of this Barbiturate in her body, her tongue is hanging completely out of her mouth and she is near death) and finally she injects the remaining 50% of the Barbiturate. During the time of shaving and prior to the final injection her assistant's cell phone begins to ring extremely loud, after waiting a few moments for her to silent the ring, I actually have to blurt out the words "Are you kidding me" for her to finally decide to silence the ring. To add to the horror and torment we decided to have her cremated, and the South County Veterinary Hospital staff, sent her to THE WRONG CREMATORY. Prior to the euthinization we had made arrangements with the Veterinary staff to send her to a family friend, the owner of "Final Gift" located 30 minutes from the Veterinary Hospital. Instead they send her 2 hours away to a crematory in ANOTHER STATE (CT.) This has been the most horrifying and inhumane experience I have ever witnessed. My final memories of my amazing and beloved family member of 7 years is her tongue hanging out of her mouth, while she suffered from a tortureous, inhumane and horrific death. This is completely unacceptable and CAN NOT go unpunished. The entire staff needs be held responsible and accountable for pure torture, and inhumanity. I can not find strong enough words to express my disgust and pain. Read Less

They really like animals! I have been using them since I was a student at URI way back when...in the present day I go to the route 1 location for my 2 Aussies they see Doctor Green she is great with them, very patient with my nervous puppies. She is great with questions, does not rush, and does not over treat just to make a sale. Dr Troobe has also done knee surgery on my older Aussie. Since she does not see him on a regular basis she is prone to bite. He got down on the floor with her to make her more comfortable before he examined her so she did not have to wear a muzzle. The vet tecks and desk staff are very friendly and good with the animals. Read Less
