I have been with Harbor since they opened in Barrington 14+ years ago.Wade is a great vet, with good bedside manners and truly cares for your pets. I have most always had excellent experiences with Wade and most of his staff.  But, the business side of Harbor has gone down hill in the past 3-4 years. Customer service barely exists. The front desk staff is inexperienced, very quick with ill tempered replies, and just plain rude. The vet techs have turned over so much, that I don't know any of them and they don't know my dog. So I've been going here for the past four years. I have two rescues. They are my world. I had a good couple of experiences. Then I used them for boarding while we went on vacation. They were extremely well taken care of while we were gone but all the hoops we had to jump through for the year prior with vaccines just to board them for four days was well up to a thousand dollars. I keep going because I feel stuck. Like I can't go anywhere else. They have all my records and then I was there today for what should have been a fifteen minute visit but turned into an hour and a half. I needed one of my dogs nails cut and two were cutting into her paw pad (guilty dog mom moment I know)...90.00 later and two hours later I walked out. A "brief visit" was charged at 42.00. Then I remembered last year when I took both dogs in for just routine vaccines and I walked out paying 875.00. No discount for a second dog; nickled and dimed to the end. I was mad then but didn't do anything about it as it was around Christmas time. So after tonight's fiasco I have found my new vet. And rest assured, while I will pay anything for my babies, I refuse to allow myself to be gouged any longer. Read Less

Wonderful visit today with Dr. Cordy. I brought in a lethargic parakeet and was treated with the same kindness and concern as someone with a cat or dog.  From my initial phone call I felt so comfortable.  The doctor listened, and I felt like we were a team in determining my bird's treatment.  Quill is improving already from Dr. Cordy's recommendations.  The limitations of small birds didn't stop Quill from getting great care. My two dogs went to see Dr. Cordy and he wrote antibiotics but at CVS and Wal-Mart are asking 500 bucks for it. Since, the office stated they don't have the antibiotic on hand and I'm forced to wait additional three days. So I have no choice and got them at CVS for 330 bucks. I will never come back. I rather go see vet where there medications on hand which cheaper than going to CVS and Wal-Mart. Read Less

Best daycare and animal hospital I have ever used! Courteous, well trained staff, and top notch veterinarians. I can't say enough about how clean this facility is. I also love the fact that you can monitor your dog by video live time feed whether they are indoors or playing outside. Dr Cordy has taken care of my labradoodle since she was 9 weeks old and had to do ovarian spay on her which we were very nervous about. He was meticulous and treated her so kind. She was in minimal pain and healed beautifully with Little to no scarring. I would highly highly recommend  the daycare, boarding, and  veterinarian services. One year ago I would give Harbor five stars, but unfortunately most of the daycare staff has left over the last few months and the front desk staff as well. Too much turnover in staff, understaffed daycare, I was really sad to pull my dog out but I was concerned about the lack of trained staff and staff in general. Hopefully they can turn things around. This is a very professional organization; I'm pleased my Golden Fenway is a client/patient. First and foremost the place is immaculate; does smell at all. Staff is attentive and seems to like working there. Dr. Packard is terrific; she always offers options to the care Fenway requires and allows me to choose what I want to do. While a bit pricey (I don't have pet insurance), I've never felt "ripped off" for the quality of care received. I recommend Harbor wholeheartedly. Read Less

Really disappointed by my experience with this vets office. When I call, no one seems to know what's going on. Very real communication issues here. I've called 2-3 times in advance to make sure my cats medication is ready and correct, and shown up and they have no idea what I'm getting or where it is. Then I sit for 20-30 minutes waiting, and watch one patient after another come in and deal with the same issues. The veterinarians hours are very irregular so you may pay for a test with results in 24 hours and get a call back over a week later because no one is there to give you results. Really poor care. Had a great first experience with harbor animal hospital. From the helpful and friendly employees at the front desk to the vet assistants to the veterinarian himself. He was spot on with his diagnosis and my dog was doing better in no time. Prices were extremely fair as well. Which is always nice. Definitely my new spot for animal care. Drs. Cordy and Deegan are smart, talented and friendly. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. It is very easy to get an appointment, even same day. My dogs regularly go to the doggie day care and they love it. I have boarded my dogs at Harbor and appreciate that a tech is present all night. Great people. Great service. Read Less

Harbor Animal Hospital is a good resource to come if your pet is sick. I like being able to specify one veterinarian all the time so he gets to know my dogs but if he isnt there, I can still be confident with the others. The new place is bigger than before so they can do more. The prices are high but unfortunately so are any other vets around the area........the way of the world these days. But they are trustworthy for my dogs who I love very much and would not trust just anyone with their care. It is not difficult to get an appointment if you need one quickly which is a big plus. The wait time can sometimes be long which is probably because they make the appointments close together so that is really my only objection.Read Less

When my Robo hamster was scratching so much that he lost a patch of fur, I knew he needed help. I had to find a vet that cares for pocket pets. I called Harbor Animal Hospital and made an appointment. Dr. Cordy was great and tried his best to obtain a sample from my hamsters fur. It was difficult because he does not like to be handled. Dr. Cordy identified the problem as mites and provided me with drops to be applied to the fur. Its now 6 months later, my hamsters fur has recovered and he is happy & healthy. Thanks to Dr. Cordy a small and precious life was saved. The hospital staff was very friendly and they do have late hours to accommodate anyones schedule. We came to Harbor Animal Hospital for our first visit as an emergency visit for our 12 year old golden retriever who needed immediate surgery for a ruptured spleen. They took excellent care of her (and her crazy owner who requested photos overnight post-surgery) and referred us to an oncologist for treatment for her hermangiosarcoma, which ultimately took her from us in July. We finally got a puppy and have since returned for care for our new addition. Dr. Cordy is awesome, loves goldens, and is incredibly well-read and researched on various topics relating to allergies and other canine care. Our dog LOVES this doggy daycare! We are new to the area and we looked all over town for the right place for Abby. She is a super friendly golden retriever who loves to have playtime with other dogs. Since we got her from a shelter, we won't take her anywhere that the dogs are crated or kenneled because we don't want to terrify her! But Harbor Animal Hospital has been perfect.We started Abby off with a half day to see how she liked it. She did totally fine - the staff there kept a close eye on her, introduced her to the group slowly, and then gave us a full report of what she did all day. "The next week we took her for a full day, and she LOVED it. When we picked her up and started bring her out to the car, she actually did a full about-face and darted back through the closing doors into the lobby - she did not want to go home with us!!! She's never done THAT before!The staff are all great and friendly, and Abby apparently loves them more than her own family, so I have to give these guys five stars! Also, they have a live webcam during the day, which is both great and terrible - it is a worse time-suck than Facebook. Love it.
