I was happy to find this place for an economic way to have my dog spayed. They were squeezing me in since their next availability was on my due date so i was able to bring her the week before. When i arrived they informed me of the process and when i arrived they also sat everyone down and went through different scenarios and what the protocol should be. My dog did get an infection 2 days later, on the weekend of course so I did go to my regular vet which kind of hinted it might have been due to the process but I am not sure. antibiotics did the trick and she got better, her incision was not open just had pus. This was my first visit to the clinic for a spay of a kitten. After don't a little shopping around they were not only one of the highest rated they were also very economical! Pulled the trigger and was pleasantly surprised how professional and expedient they were. They have a great intake and release process that worked very well. Granted they are popular so there is a line always but they nail it! My kitten is healing very nice and she's very happy. I highly recommend this place. Side note my local very quoted me $500 - $1000 for less services I got here for $140. I was so pleased I made an extra donation when I left. Read Less

We got our cat spayed here and we were very impressed with how efficient this place was. It is very clean and the people are very friendly. The prices are more reasonable than vet's around the state and they donate some of the proceeds to good causes! We were very pleased with our outcome and would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a decently priced, trustworthy place to get your cat or dog spayed/neutered at. However, if you are looking for a private one on one situation this is not the place for you. Keep in mind that this place has group meetings after the operation and it's a quick drop off before. Other than that this is a highly recommended place to go! Read Less

I'm a caregiver and friend of a woman with terminal cancer. She was given a kitten to keep her spirits up and for enjoyment. Both of us barely received enough money to pay the bills to survive. RI Community was able to obtain a grant to cover all the expenses for spaying, shots, testing and microchip. The women that I met and spoke with were ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, they were extremely caring, nice and professional at the same time. Definitely 5 Stars in my book. Aside of the initial phone call in which the receptionist was rude to my wife, I had a very positive experience. Just a warning, they don't take checks or AMEX, but they take cash and all other cards. They do try to run the clinic with efficiency, so you may feel rushed (I didn't, but I can see how one might. They do mass check-ins and mass discharges.) As for calling the place a "mill" as other reviewers have - this is blantently unfair. "Mill" is a term used to involk images of puppy mills, which if any of the reviewers below saw, they would not use the term. There is nothing mill-like about the place. I found them accommodating, and a value for the price. For $290 they nuetered, tested and dewormed, treated for fleas and ticks, cut his nails, microchipped and registered my 50 pound boxer. Want to be hugged and sweettalked when you walk in the door, go pay double the price for the neutering alone at a traditional vet. All the people with whom I dealt were friendly, funny, and professional. The facility was clean and well cared for. The people treated my dog with love and compasion. I am sure they must have off days dealing with the volume they do, but you will get good, safe services at an excellent price. Give them a shot, and forgive them for rushing you on busy days. They are taking good care of your baby. Read Less

I arrive on time following all of the directions. I finally reach the front desk when the lady behind asks when my dogs last heat was.... apparently the policy is at least 8 weeks post heat WHICH THEY SHOULD ASK over the phone when scheduling my appointment so they don't inconvenience the customer. The big lady behind the desk was extremely rude. Then they decide to take my dog after all. the second time coming up to the counter the same lady basically yells at me and her staff and I all looked at her as if she was crazy. I'm not sure what her issue was. Everyone else was extremely nice. Also my dog came back absolutely FILTHY oily and dirt coming off on my hand and I had washed her the night before. I've always brought my animals here for surgery and they continue to wow me every time. I had a mini panic attack when I found out my pup was considered a slightly higher risk patient. It caught me completely off guard, and I immediately had a flashback to my childhood 2 year old lab who had passed unexpectedly from a congenital heart defect. I feared the absolute worst and I totally panicked! The staff, techs and veterinarian were so wonderful in making sure I got the answers I needed and helped me feel confident in the decision I made with no pressure whatsoever. They even made a courtesy call to me when she was out of surgery and recovering so I could relax for the rest of the day. Reina is doing great and the incision is so minimal and sutured so professionally. I am impressed all over again, and I would never take my animals to any other clinic for this surgery. Thank you for all you do! And thank you for being so kind to me in my moment of panic! :)Read Less

Very inefficient check in and check out process. Wait time is absolutely ridiculous considering you are just dropping off and picking up your dog from surgery. I arrived there at 7:50 which they ask the other 8 dogs that are getting surgery that day. I did not leave there until 8:40. In my opinion, if you don't want dogs in the waiting area at the same time which is why this process takes so long. Then schedule everyone's appointments at different times. Same thing with pickup, if you're early to pick up your dog from surgery, they won't release the dog until every single person that had dogs that got surgery that day are there. The reason behind that is because they want to do ONE collective post op instruction. Which in my opinion is, lazy on their part. The dog should be able to leave if he/she is complete surgery/recovery and their mom or dad is there. I shouldn't be sitting there waiting for Daisy's mom or Spike's mom to get there. Once again, very inefficient and lazy. Which does not leave you with a good feeling as you drop your fur baby off for surgery. The place is very unorganized. Talked to one receptionist and she told me I was all set the cost of the microchip would be waived. She called the rescue I rescued my dog from and confirmed with the owner that the microchip would be covered by them. She assured me that I wouldn't run into any problems with that. There were two phone calls about this microchip the day before, confirming this! When I show up the next morning, there are no notes from Jessica stating that. And the receptionist at the desk makes me pay for the microchip right then and there. I ask her to check to see if Jessica wrote this anywhere. She says no. I ask if Jessica is working and she says no. I offered to come back with paper work and she told me I could take it up with the rescue. Even though it was confirmed the day before the surgery by the clinic and the rescue! In my opinion, this is the planned parenthood for animals. There's nothing wrong with that but if I hadn't rescued her and this wasn't my only option, I would not use this place nor would I recommend it. Read Less

DO NOT GO HERE ....I made the appointment to get my Mothers small dog spayed today. It was the worst decision I ever made. We didn't know the dog was pregnant when my Mother took her in, they don't check for pregnancy - started the surgery and aborted the puppies. They told my Mother after it was done and charged her for their service. My Mother is struggling with stage 4 Breast Cancer and that little dog is her world right now. They didn't call when they found out to ask my Mother what she wanted to do - they just went ahead with it.My Mother would have kept the puppies and seen the pregnancy out if she had known. They initially tried to tell my Mother that her dog was newly pregnant - however... the reason we didn't know was because my Mom came with us to Florida for Christmas and New Year and left her little pup with a friend(and of course she was in heat). At the VERY LEAST - if we count the last day of the vacation... she was well up to half term - if not past. She was anywhere from 35-45 days pregnant - when the average delivery happens around 63 days. We are horrified - more than I can explain. I called them to try to understand what happened and spoke to the director. She was mean and defensive not to mention condescending - I asked why they didn't do a pregnancy test before hand and she told me there WAS NO PREGNANCY TEST FOR DOGS - the only way to know if a dog is pregnant is to do an xray which requires anesthesia and that would damage or kill the puppies anyway.WEIRD - when I googled it..... there IS a pregnancy test for dogs - take a little blood and Voila!A blood test is available that detects pregnancy in the bitch by measuring levels of a hormone called relaxin. This hormone is produced by the developing placenta following implantation of the embryo, and can be detected in the blood in most bitches as early as 22-27 days post breeding.Pregnancy Testing in the Dog | VCA Animal Hospitalsvcahospitals.com/main/pe…My family is all so upset right now and I feel responsible because I encouraged my Mother to have her spayed. We are so devastated. No apology - no... since we just aborted the puppies , we wont charge you... Nothing just the womans final words to me "maybe your mother will feel better if she understands what I just told you". What ? that there is no pregnancy test? Well you lied to me directly and NO we DO NOT UNDERSTAND.Please don't go here. Read Less

Terrible. I brought my cat here to get neutered thinking it would be a good clinic, Β but i was wrong. I adopted my cat and they recommended that clinic, so I prepaid over the phone and set up the appointment. I asked if anyone is there to monitor the animals overnight and they said no. Their hours are 7:30-5 and they leave at 5. I did not feel comfortable leaving my kitten there unattended. The vet tech tried to tell me that they do "over 30,000 surgeries"- which is fine- but they do so many because the place is a mill. It's over run with animals and over crowded. How they take the time for each pet, I don't know, but they clearly do not care about the animals if they just leave them unattended overnight. I asked for my $90 that I prepaid to be refunded to me and they refused, since i adopted the cat. I told them cancel my appointment and I will bring my pet elsewhere. I am brining him to titan vet on airport road, where he is able to be in and out in a matter of hours. RI spay neuter clinic is run down, unprofessional, dirty and understaffed. Read Less

We adopted a kitten over the summer from a local rescue. The foster mom of our kitty works at RI community spay neuter clinic and had mentioned the option of taking our kitten their to be spayed. At the time we had another vet so we didn't think much of it (though being a big advocate of s/n and having helped in rescue myself over the years I was SO happy to hear this place was open in RI!!). Since the summer we have decided to switch vets for reasons that have nothing to do with this post, so I'll skip that. In any case, we decided to take our kitten here for her spay and it went great. They request that you come in and fill in paperwork first - this allows you to get all of that out of the way and THEN you bring in your pet. GREAT process in my opinion, as I always worry about other people's pets and what illness they may be able to transfer to my pets while in a veterinary environment. So...when I walked in with our kitten, they immediately were there to take the carrier out of our hands and bring her in to another room to be prepped for surgery, etc. She was given pain medication after the surgery via injection, seemed to be cared for very well and I though the extra note on her paper work telling us how ""cute"" she was (we think so, too!) was a nice touch. For a place that's common goal is to make spay/neuter more affordable and encourage the community to spay and neuter their pets - I was sort of pleasantly surprised by the level of personalized care. They are really going to make a difference in reducing the pet overpopulation problem in RI, which in turn will help eliminate the senseless deaths of so many homeless animals. My kitten's incision was very small, she was in good spirits when I took her home and she seems to be recovering very, very well. I am very pleased with the results. Thanks so much for what you are doing. RI REALLY needed something like this. I know that my dog's vet charged us $500 to NEUTER him and our other cats were around $300. For whatever reason, some pet owners just can not afford this, not to mention people that may want to fix the ferals in their neighborhood, or cat that was dumped by the neighbors and didn't have an affordable option to do so. Now they do! Kudos to you guys for a job well done! Read Less

Read Less

The big lady behind the desk was extremely rude. Then they decide to take my dog after all. the second time coming up to the counter the same lady basically yells at me and her staff and I all looked at her as if she was crazy.

Read Less
