My sister-in-law, who is a veterinarian in Georgia, recommended this local veterinarian to treat my cat for a painful mouth condition called feline stomatitis. This condition had caused my cat to lose almost half of her body weight; she was essentially starving because it was too painful to eat the dry food that I normally feed her and my other cats. I had actually taken my cat to the veterinarian at the Aiken SPCA 5 days before bringing her to The Ark, but she was still in a lot of pain and not eating, so I felt it was necessary to get a second opinion. When I called into the office, and explained to the receptionist what was going on with my cat, they were able to clear out an appointment for me to come in the same day, which I greatly appreciated. The vet tech and veterinarian that I saw here were both extremely kind and comforting and treated my cat extremely well. They put her on antibiotics and gave her pain medicine, which the previous veterinarian had not done. Now, almost two weeks later she has already gained almost 3 pounds because she is finally able to eat without being an extreme pain due to her mouth disease. Ark is the only animal hospital in South Carolina that I would trust with my rabbits. Back when I lived in the area, I was visiting Ark twice a week for two years as the caring and professional staff treated my chronically ill rabbit. Dr. Jansky especially is an amazing woman. She did everything in her power to keep our baby going and his illness at bay. She went out of her way to treat him and to utilize the most up-to-date practices. Thanks to her expert care, we stole two years of time. When we needed to say goodbye, everyone at Ark was incredibly compassionate and they allowed us to stay with him the whole time. The process was very peaceful and they cried right along with us when he passed. I no longer live in South Carolina, but I think about Ark and its staff often. I can honestly say that while I am happy with my current veterinary hospital, it will never compare to Ark in excellence, and no doctor will compare to Dr. Jansky. Read Less

Use The Ark as our kennel for our babies, and my boxer actually loves to go here! They will only accept two large dogs at a time to kennel , but she's always well cared for when she's there! WHile away on a vacation last year, they found an issue with my shihtzu and called right away and were able to 'perform minor surgery and keep me posted on him as a worried mom! They were fabulous! Only take our dogs here to kennel, and will probably start our vet care here as well.....haven't started this yet though.....but certainly love the care these ladies have given to our animals! My precious Fluffy hurt his back while we were visiting Aiken. I did a quick search online and found The Ark. Thankfully they were able to see us immediately. Dr. Jones and his staff were extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with, and clearly loved animals! Most knowledgeable doctor we ever went to- an old vet we knew in Columbia said he thinks Dr. Jones is the best in SC.. The staff are the friendliest we ever met at a vet office. I took three of my bunnies here late last week, one was getting spayed and the other two were getting their nails trimmed. When I dropped my baby girl off, the vet techs I talked to were very nice and well informed. I left feeling a little nervous, but was confident she'd be just fine. Then later that day, I went to pick her up and get the other girls nails trimmed. After waiting an hour, I got to see my baby. I immediately knew something was wrong. Every question I asked the vet tech (different girl from the morning) was answered with I don't know, and she started to give me an attitude. When my husband asked if we needed to come back for a check up, she said umm oh she has to have her stitches taken out in two weeks! If we didn't ask specifically, we wouldn't have been told! My other girls were given dissolvable ones by a vet in Atlanta, so I was surprised. I got upset because that's Christmas time, and everyone will be closed. I was then told I could just go to another vet if I didn't like it. When she clipped my girls nails, she was going way too fast, not paying attention and cut her quick; she brushed it off saying "uh oh she's a bleeder". Not once was I able to talk to a vet. After I was able to talk to another vet tech, she took some time to talk to me and was nice, but I was given no paperwork on anything, even on what drugs they had used. I ended up leaving, feeling absolutely horrible and almost in tears. They had just brushed me off by saying my bun was being affected by the sedatives, even though I was convinced something was wrong. A few hours later, we found ourselves at an emergency vet clinic being told my baby was dead. It could've been any cause, from the vet doing something wrong to an allergy of the sedatives used, but now I'll never know what happened. Do NOT take your rabbits here unless you have the competent part of their staff, and DEMAND to speak with the vet! They still have not answered my phone calls, or my mothers, even with voicemails. The vet techs are great! So gentle and loving with my animals...the front desk people, not so much. They ignore you and are very rude. They hardly said a word to me while I was waiting to make my next appt. Which I asked for, they didn't tell me anything about it. I was so annoyed...I'll be sure to find a new vets office soon.
