We moved to Beaufort June of 2016. Our previous Vet in Charleston recommended Dr. Guilloud for continued care for our senior dogs. From the very first visit, I have been totally pleased with the entire staff, the warm family atmosphere, and the excellent care from both Dr's. "Dr. Mark" takes the time to listen and TEACH the pet owners. He explains diagnosis' in understandable terms without talking down. He provides website sources for continued understanding. He also takes making the correct diagnosis very seriously. He even recommended a great source when my car battery was dying! Frank and Rachael have always been exceptionally kind and professional. Frank calls me by name now due to very frequent appointments. He is always helpful in any way possible. He even helped hold Rudy for sand spurs to be removed. Whenever we need an appointment, or to board the dogs at the last minute, this has been worked out. Even yesterday, when I needed more prescription dog food for our diabetic dog, Rachael made it happen! The only bag available was 27lbs., much more than needed. She helped me to get it from an online source and immediately provided the prescription required. Now that is great. Jean is also very kind. The techs Stephanie and Stefanie work well together and with Rudy, drawing blood, etc. Thanks to all of you working there, including the Kennel Staff.. You are the BEST! Recently Rudy and Breezy stayed overnight. They came out with a cute bag personalized for them with their names I don't know who went "over and above" to give them a better "overnight" bag, but this was very sweet. Everyday, I drive past The Animal Medical Center and call out to all those beautiful animals as they are out in their cage runs...I really feel that they hear me and the tone of their barking changes from wistful to a friendly "Hello, buddy!" I really like the staff here. All of the vets are thorough, but they don't perform unnecessary procedures or tests. You get good care at a reasonable price. That's important when you have two dogs, two cats, two guinea pigs, and a rabbit.Read Less

Nearly two weeks ago my regular vet clinic cancelled an appointment I had for my cat Lovey. Dr. Wreden and Dr. Damm saw him. When Dr. Wreden diagnosed him with advanced kidney failure and cancer, Dr. Damm put him out of his misery. She was simply wonderful. She has the best bedside manner. Read Less

A few weeks ago our 14 yr old yorkie became sick We are in Beaufort on our boat for the winter and weren't sure where to take him. I had heard of The Animal Medical Center so I called. We were able to get an appointment the same day with Dr. Damm. She was able to advise us and prescribe medication to treat our little guy's problem and he had a full recovery. Everyone we met was very professional and compassionate. Thanks to Dr. Damm, Abby, Rachel, Alison, Frank and Dr. G. We also had our doggie groomed by Cammy. What a wonderful team. Dr. Guilloud and his staff are the epitome of what a veterinary clinic should be! Without ever having met them before, they got us through one of the toughest times of our lives as a family when we had to say goodbye to our pup. We were greeted with genuine love, hugs, and tears each time we arrived to the clinic, which meant the world to us. Everyone there is more than awesome, very caring, and with a senior (very senior) cat, I go see these fine folks almost as much for me as for my senior citizen, Simon. Simon would give 5 stars if they had a saline solution warmer...he's so thin that he practically gets hypothermic when he comes for fluids. Our boys , 2 mini poodles  ,  ages 6 and 7 have been patients here for 3 years . This  practice is a 10 on a score of 1 to 10!    Our dogs are in great health thanks to the great care they receive ,  and we always  receive quality time whether for annual physical , teeth cleaning ,  or a medical issue .  Having tried two other practices in the area prior , this one is the BEST by far !   All medical staff are caring and well trained and Dr Gillioud is wonderful. Dr Damm was so very kind and gentle to my normally very anxious cat. She quickly diagnosed the problem and got her on the road to recovery but had my furbaby cuddling into her neck which she has NEVER done with 3 other vets. Normally I take my animals to another vet, but he was out of town this weekend when our 16 year old Norweigan Elkhound had an apparent stroke. My regular vet mentioned that ya'll are now seeing emergencies over the weekend and recommended that we call. I left a message and got a very quick call back from Dr. Dohm (I hope I am spelling her name correctly!) who then met me at your office ASAP. Charlie indeed had either a massive stroke or perhaps cancer--either way, he was not going to recover. Dr. Dohm and Milani (again, I hope I spelled her name correctly) were *incredibly* compassionate, kind and patient with my mother and I as we made the decision to humanely euthanize our sweet boy. He passed in my arms, with no pain and no noise. The fact that he was seen so promptly, and with so much love means more to me than words can say. It was a dark and rainy night, and I really did not want to have to drive to Charleston or Savannah. Thank you for seeing us, for not letting Charlie suffer for a minute longer than he had to, and for making a very painful experience as compassionate, kind and warm as possible. We found this vet in an emergency after moving here 7 years ago. We have stayed because of their love and devotion to our pets. They are always so friendly and helpful. Their front desk staff is the best ever! They always have a smile and are willing to help you find coupons on your pet's meds. The techs and vets are always patient with our questions. I have been taking my pets here since I moved to Beaufort 4 years ago, and I have never had any type of negative experience at the AMC. The staff out front is always friendly and helpful, and the techs and doctors always have been so great to my pets. Even the saddest of appointments were made easier here, and that's no easy task.
