I took my kitten here a while back. I had just gotten him and came home after work one day, and his eye looked all cloudy and was clearly bothering him. I called them after hours because they had an on call number and ended up bringing him in first thing in the morning before work because I couldn't afford the huge deposits that they wanted to call the vet in after hours. After a few hours, they called me and said I had to pay almost $600 to sow his eyelid shut because his eye was scratched. I was hesitant at the price and what they were saying was needed; so, I called my other, normal vet. My other vet said that I could bring him to them. Broad marsh kept calling me and trying to pressure me to do the surgery and was saying that my kitten was going to lose his eye. I told them not to do anything else and asked how much the services that they provided already cost, and they told me $90. I said I was going to pick him up and said not to do anything else. I went to pick him up about 30 minutes later, and they did more stuff and had charged me an additional $50. When I was picking him up, the vet tech was saying how my kitten was going to lose his eye and how it would be my fault, and there was a note on the prescriptions from the vet that said that he wouldn't let my kitten lose his eye. They did and said all of this when I was already on my way to my normal vet, and I told them that, but they kept making it seem like I was abusing my animal.
Once I got to my vet, which is Sea Island Animal Hospital on Lady's Island, they did a quick test and said his eye wasn't scratched but was cloudy because he had an upper respiratory infection, which was common in kittens. They said his eye definitely wasn't scratched and that the eyelid sowing surgery was archaic and wasn't a form of surgery that vets even did anymore. I got a couple prescriptions, and they didn't even charge me for a vet visit because they felt bad about what happened at the other vet. His eye cleared up in a couple days, and he was completely fine. He DID NOT lose his eye like they said and made me feel horrible about. I would NEVER take my animals to this place ever again and warn everyone against going there. I had friends and other people tell me how they had bad experiences with them too about getting charged for shots they never even asked for and extra services that they didn't want. They moved to this new location on Lady's Island, and there aren't any reviews yet from this place, but there were a ton of terrible yelp reviews when this exact same vet was at the old location over by Chick-Fil-A. I would highly recommend not bringing your animals here. Dr. Henry isn't a good vet at all and doesn't know relevant veterinary information. You will also be severely over charged. I have had nothing but amazing experiences from Sea Island Animal Hospital, and I tell everyone I meet about how great all of the vets are there. I have had most of them treat my animals and have liked every single one of them!
Oh and by the way, this vet was arrested for illegally prescribing medications...food for thought, no one should ever go back to him again. If you google his name and the vet clinic, you can find the articles. Read Less
