We were on Fripp Island for a long weekend and one of our dogs became ill. We called Sea Island Animal Hospital and asked if we could bring our dog in without an appointment. They were booked up, but because our dog has a heart condition, Kristin said they would work us in as soon as we could get there. Once there, we did not have to wait too long. Dr Wilson and her staff could not have been more accommodating. Dr Wilson was thorough in learning about our dogs history, taking notes, and examining her. She ran tests and gave us some different options on how to proceed, explaining everything thoroughly. She administered medication and sent us home with additional medication that helped our dog improve and called both my husband and I to check on our dog the next day. Dr Wilson is a patient listener and has a natural rapport. Kristin at the front desk was wonderful as well...very thorough and helpful as we checked in and out and as we worked to get patient records from our vet at home on the fly. They even gave us 50% off the cost of our first exam, even though we are not residents of the area. There isn’t enough nice things that I can say about the staff and facilities here. I have 3 small dogs and 1 cat who we take there and they have always taken very good care of them. They offer health plans for pets and discounts for products as well. My fur babies never seem scared or apprehensive about going there so I feel confident that even behind closed doors, my kiddos are being treated well. Took my 5 year old Yorkie (Daisy) today for our first time visiting Sea Island Animal Hospital. She had some kind of skin infection and I needed to have her checked out. I was searching for a new vet in the Beaufort area, and read that they were a great vet on a local Facebook group. I was very happy with their hours and the fact that I could get in right away on a Saturday as a new client. I made the appt on their website which was super easy. From the moment we walked in it... was a wonderful experience. The front desk staff were very nice and welcoming. My Daisy is a loud barker when other dogs come around and the staff didn't seem to be annoyed or bothered by it which made me feel much better. I hate to feel like we are a burden :/ Dr. Horn saw my girl and she was amazing! She was very thorough in examing Daisy for not only the issue I brought her in for but an all-over exam, including her teeth which she went over dental cleaning procedures with me. She also explained their PAWS payment program to me and even discussed my other two dogs who were not with me at the time. Overall I was extremely pleased with the entire visit. The vet tech (didn't catch her name) was so wonderful also! The entire visit with medications, tests and exam came out to $100 which blew me away. I was expecting at least $250. It was our first time there with our 10 yr. Old Dachshund Hannah. And while she was terrified the experience was a nice one, Dr. Murray took great care her examination every step of the way. Hannah passed with flying colors except for her awful breath which we all agreed on a plan of action for! Dr. Horn always examines my kitties and I really like her--she is knowledgeable, friendly and has a good bedside demeanor. However, getting to Dr. Horn can be an adventure. I often have to repeat myself again and again to the phone operator, then the front desk worker, then the vet technician, then Dr. Horn. It is like none of the staff communicates with any of the other staff. Additionally, wait times can be long and prices high. I use Sea Island Animal Hospital if I need specialty equipment like X-ray, ultrasound, etc. but for routine medicine I see Dr. Holden of Veterinary Wellness, Beaufort. Read Less

I absolutely love this vet. I recently moved from Beuafort and now have to find a new vet. If I didn't live 5 hours away, I would still drive back there to go to the vet. I've dealt with multiple vets here and have loved every one of them! I've had a couple of animal emergencies, and they have always fit me in and helped me and been fantastic. I can't say enough great things about this vet and constantly recommend them to everyone. Their prices are good, and they even give me a good military discount. We had a wonderful first visit with our two weimaraners this morning! Everyone in the office is super friendly and all seem to be such animal lovers (at my last two vet offices this wasn't the case) and they all seem genuinely happy to be there! The doctor we saw today took her time with the exams and really listened and addressed all of my questions and concerns. What a great place to take your animals. I'm from Ohio and moved here because of the military. We have a Siberian cat and a German Shepherd...they are VERY needy and we always end up going in once/twice a week. They schedule us at the drop of a hat and are always so accommodating. Our vet (Dr. Murray) is ALWAYS so thorough, explains everything to a T, makes sure we understand and answers any and all questions that we have. I want to stay in Beaufort after the military strictly because of this place. I have never been to such a professional, caring vet and doubt I ever will after we move back home. I can't begin to explain how much we adore this place. This past April our dog Bella started having some problems. We brought her in and Dr. Rockwell was amazing. She did everything she possibly could to make her better. A week or so later we took her home. She was perfect. These past couple days Bella was starting to show the sames signs as last time but started developing bumps. We called and Dr. Rockwell sqeezed us in to an appointment with no hesitation. We came to fin...d out our Bella had cancer and there was really no way of fighting it. We all came to the agreement to put her down. Dr. Rockwell was out of the office today but made a special appearance to help us out so our Bella wouldn't be in any more pain. We Just felt so much at home and felt as if we have known them for so long. Thank you all so, so much for everything you did to keep Bella ours for the length that you did. My cat had been attacked by something. I didn?t notice until her face had almost doubled in size from the swelling! I was horrified to find a huge open wound on her face. So, I tried my best to clean it with peroxide and put Neosporin on it. I called the next day to Sea Island Animal Hospital and set an appointment for her. She was in a lot of pain and she was scared we arrived at the clinic. The veterinarian and technicians there were so delicate, patient and kind, not only to her, but they calmed me down, too. I was so worried about what could have gotten to her, (a snake, or rabid animal or something). They took her in the back and tended to her. When they brought her back to me, they told me how sweet she was and how she didn?t misbehave, claw, or scratch. They gave me her medication and I left. I felt so much better after leaving the clinic and she didn?t appear as bad, either. A few days later, I received a phone call from her vet; she wanted to check on my cat's recovery. I thought that was wonderful! She told me to call if I had any questions. About a week later, she called back again to check on her. I thought that this showed a genuine interest in the well-being of my pet. It was not all about getting my business or making money. Soon it was time for my cat to get spayed. Again, I received the same service. I would call and check on her progress and they would let me know. They didn?t appear to be annoyed because they understood that to some people, a pet is like a child?not just a pet, but a family member. My pet was even released early and the surgery was even less expensive than she initially told me it would be. The vet had made several follow-up phone calls just like before. If you can find consistent, behavior, most likely that is the norm for that person or company. With Sea Island Animal Hospital, I found just that.
