Our family has been going to Dr. Bradford for over 15 years. He has seen a pet loss, new pets come into the family and now my new fur baby who needed a life-changing amputation because of a congential birth defect. I live in Miami, but flew home to have Dr. Bradford perform the surgery because I knew he was the only one who would be honest with me about my pet. I was told by many doctors different course of treatments, but Dr. B was honest and helped me through a difficult decision about amputation my 7-month old puppy's front leg so that she would have a better quality of life.I have not regretted the decision. Dr. B did an amazing job on the surgery. He took her home the night after the surgery, stayed up with her and cared for her (what vet does this?!) and treated her like family. 3 weeks post-op, she is doing amazing. Dr. B is family and will treat your pets like family, too. There is no better vet in Charleston, or anywhere for that matter. Read Less

Dr. Bradford has been our vet for almost 20 years now, and I can't say enough about him and his practice. His love for animals is immeasurable, and his compassion for how we feel about our fur babies is one of the best examples of human kindness I can imagine. One of my favorite qualities about him is that he speaks on behalf of my animals, like, "Now what we want is such and such twice a day and we also want to be kept calm and we want to drink lots of water."  Katie is so great and flexible, and the whole family is so nice. I will never go anywhere else, and two of my best friends and their families go there now, too. We live in Mt. Pleasant, so it's a bit of a drive, but SOOOO worth it. Read Less

Please read this entire post. My mother-in-law recently took her dog that was really sick to the animal care center. While her dog was there Dr. Bradford did not communicate what was going on at all. Each time she would call they would come up with some excuse as to why my mother-in-law couldn't see her dog. FOR 2 WEEKS. He would say she is sleeping you can't see her, she is hooked up to IVs, you can't see her, come back tomorrow, I wasn't expecting you so you can't see her. They even told her she should could come get her on Thursday and when she got there they told her she had to come back next week.  When my mother-in-law finally went to go and pick up her dog this Friday her sweet little dog was dead. I don't believe that they were honest about what happened to her dog. She was given back to her all wet as well. Dr. Bradford said they were taking care of her dog but weren't being true to their word. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE TO TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES TO!!!!!! Read Less

Dr. Bradford has been our family vet since before I was born and he has been nothing but amazing. I've known this man for 24 years and have never seen him yell or over react to anything. He's always gone above and beyond for our family and our pets. He knows all of his patients by heart and we had one dog that got very sick. He took her home with him and stayed up all night long with her. I've never known another vet to do that.I love that it is a family owned business as well. His daughter works there and his kids are always around helping out whenever they can. I have a busy schedule, so sometimes I don't always have the ability to make appointments ahead of time but Katie and Dr. B can always find a way to squeeze me in. And even though they are busy, they always take the time to help me get my dog in the building. (She's terrified of the vet and will oftentimes refuse to get out of the car once we get there.)Great service, great staff, great all around experience. Read Less

We recently had to have an emergency procedure on a medium-sized housecat that had swallowed some thread and had a needle lodged in her throat. The situation was critical, and we brought her to Animal Care Center. Dr. Bradford and his staff performed immediate surgery to remove the foreign objects. After a couple days of recuperation and care, we were able to bring her home. The surgery, comparative to the dangerous nature of the issue, was minimally invasive, very precise and clean. The staff went a very personal extra mile that I won't ever forget. Seeing how upset we were when bringing in our pet, we received calls an texts several times a day with updates on the cat's health. Amazing and caring service, simply put. This is a local, family-owned business with several decades of experience. I encourage you to check them out for all of your animal care needs.Read Less

My experience with this facility was incredibly poor. Please read my entire review. I called the Animal Care Center to inquire about flea treatments for my cat. I asked the girl that answered the phone about several flea treatments to find out the best way to treat my cat. Every question I asked the girl she did not know; she would put me on hold and go ask someone else. The third time this happened she said she was the sister of someone that worked there; she implied she didn't work there and that was why she wasn't qualified to answer my questions, which is why she kept putting me on hold. When I asked her what time they closed that day she told me 6:30pm. I arrived at the Animal Care Center at exactly 6pm.  There was one woman behind the service desk and some people standing around and sitting. No one said hello or acknowledged me upon me walking in, but I figured the woman was preoccupied, so no biggie. After about ten minutes, the room cleared out a little and I was sitting down against the wall (not facing the service desk) and there was one other woman sitting down as well. After an additional 25 minutes, no one had yet to speak to me. I asked the other woman sitting if anyone had acknowledged her and she said no and that she had been waiting a long time. So I thought that maybe they did not realize we were waiting. I stepped back behind the desk and popped my head into the room where the veterinarian, the woman from the service desk and another staff member were talking with a dog in the room. My exact, calm and non aggressive words, "I'm sorry for interrupting, I just wanted to make sure you knew there was a couple people here because no one has addressed us. Thanks!" I walked back to the waiting room and sat down. After about five minutes the veterinarian (John Bradford) stepped out and said, ""Can I help you with something?"" I attempted to say, ""Actually, this lady here has been waiting here longer."" Before I even finished that sentence the veterinarian began verbally attacking me. I was SHOCKED! It was literally an attack, I was frozen, I was fearful because this guy was A LOT bigger than me and very close to me.  Honestly, at one point I thought he was going to hit me. Again, I was in SHOCK so I literally sank into the chair. I honestly couldn't have got a word in edgewise unless I had stooped to his level and started screaming at him. He yelled things like, ""I shouldn't have even been here as they closed at 6. I had no right to say anything to them about not addressing me. Who did I think I was?"" I mean he went on and on. His last words were there were plenty of other veterinarians around....he threw his hands at the door and pretty much ordered me to leave. My only and last words were, he was right; there was definitely plenty of other professional veterinarians around. I went across the street to Pet Smart where the Banfield vet is located. I was immediately greeted by a smiling employee who gladly helped me and I was out of there in less than ten minutes! I urge you to consider going elsewhere to treat your pets. I honestly feel sorry for the veterinarian--John Bradford-- and those around him because if my simple words made him that angry, can you imagine how he would react in other situations? I certainly DO NOT want someone like that around my pets. Please think twice before spending your hard earned money here. Customer service is everything in business and this veterinarian--John Bradford--has no respect for his customers. Read Less

My experience with this facility was incredibly poor. Please read my entire post. I called the Animal Care Center to inquire about flea treatments for my cat. The reason why I selected this particular spot over a chain like Banfield @ Pet Smart was that I knew that it was LOCALLY owned and as a local business owner myself I believe in supporting local business. I asked the girl that answered the phone about several flea treatments to find out the best way to treat my cat. Every question I asked the girl she did not know; she would put me on hold and go ask someone else. However, their door was open so I assumed they may have extended summer hours (based on the fact the girl I had spoken with earlier said they closed at 6:30). There was one woman behind the service desk and some people standing around and sitting. No one said hello or acknowledged me upon me walking in, but I figured the woman was preoccupied, so no biggie.

When I asked her what time they closed that day she told me 6:30pm. I arrived at the Animal Care Center at exactly 6pm. When I went to walk in their door their hours clearly read they closed at 6pm. However, their door was open so I assumed they may have extended summer hours (based on the fact the girl I had spoken with earlier said they closed at 6:30). There was one woman behind the service desk and some people standing around and sitting.
