I have been a client at Oceanside for 15 years.....we started when Johnny Ohlandt owned it and it was called Ohlandt Vet Clinic. Johnny was amazing! He would bend over backwards to help your pets. It wasn't about anything but the wellness of your pet for Johnny. A few years ago some Veterinarians bought Johnny out and things were pretty good at first, but prices went up dramatically......but the care level was high. The problem for me started a few months ago. Our dog got a severe laceration on her pad of her foot. The sign in the reception area says "order patients are seen......emergencies, scheduled appointments, and walk-ins". I wanted my dog to be seen by her Vet that she was familiar with. I rushed her toward Oceanside and called. They said they could not see her. Frustrated,I went to the Emergency Clinic. They were great, but it cost us $800 for stitches. Fast forward to today......one of my cats has a severe wound behind his right ear. I requested an appointment via app for first thing this morning. I requested between 8 and 9 and stated in my request that it was emergent. I got a message at 9:16 stating that they couldn't see him. I returned their call and explained that I was on my way and that I would like to be worked in based on their sign that says their protocol for seeing patients. The young lady on the phone again told me they couldn't see my cat and that they may be able to see him late this afternoon. I got upset with the young lady on the phone, and for that I apologize. So now I am at the Emergency Clinic once again. To clean the wound, give antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and a collar......$400! The problem I have is......don't advertise that you will see emergent patients if you have no intention of doing so. I have been in their offices with my pets for routine scheduled visits and have had the technician come in and apologize because there was an emergent patient that had come in and needed to be seen ahead of my pets. Guess what I said? "By all means! I understand. You will get to us when you can". As a result, I will not be taking my pets back to Oceanside.....after 15 years.

Dr. Nicole was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process, as well as the entire staff. She cried with me before we knew what was wrong and called me with condolences after we lost her that Sunday. I could not recommend a Vet more and I will never go anywhere else!

My roommate's dog passed away unexpectedly a week ago. When we called them to inform them of her passing and update their records, one of the vets specifically called my roommate late on a Friday night to ask if it was something he missed during her care because she was so young. The next day we received a flower and card. The accountability and care she received during her life and after her life were incredible; their willingness to go above and beyond is why anyone should take their pet to them if you life on or around the James Island area. It is rare to come across a company that takes accountability for their possible mistakes, especially in the medical field, so I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic and its staff.

From the moment I walked in to his continued care as we progress, I have things explained. I don’t feel rushed or a bother. Coco’s treatment has been amazing. I watch the interaction with other clients and pets and see the same care and respect given to everyone.

Took my pup here for the first time last week. I was looking to change vets to someone more local, and Oceanside fit the bill. Called late on Friday (probably 15-20 minutes before they closed for the night), trying to set up an appointment for my almost 12 year old dog. Everything starts to feel urgent when the furry babies get older, so I hoped to make an appointment as soon as possible. They were able to squeeze me in first thing the next morning, which I appreciated. We were definitely the first patients of the morning! The office was very quiet at 8am on a Saturday, but we were quickly helped and ushered into an exam room. I felt they were very thorough and communicative during the exam. They clearly walked me through the list of recommended services with an estimate for each line item. Extra kudos to the woman walking me through the flea/heartworm prevention, who recommended I first purchase the single dose (vs the 6 dose) to see how my dog reacted to it first. Wouldn't have even thought of it! They kept my old girl happy with snacks and peanut butter, so she will surely waltz in there happily from now on. Overall, I thought the prices were very reasonable, and the level of care was well worth it.

So very helpful and accommodating as an emergency, walk-in patient. While we had to euthanize our sweet cat Pocket the entire staff was still incredibly thoughtful, empathetic and walked us through the entire process although we knew what the outcome was before we walked in the door.
To top it off they sent flowers and a condolences card to our house a few days after. We will be full-time patients with our other animals, no question. Thank you for all you do at Oceanside.

Can't really say enough about these folks. Care and concern is shown for you and your pet from the time you walk in the door. New to Charleston, we've been blessed to have their care and support getting one of our dogs through orthopedic surgery and the other through end of life. We were given excellent care and unbiased information on multiple options to make the many serious decisions we faced with both dogs. Entire staff is kind, helpful and efficient. We've found our new vet home, and I haven't been surprised to hear that many of the new people I meet also take their pets there.

Ohlandt was the only vet office that would see us after hours and wouldn't charge us an unreasonable fee. They treated us like family immediately and we felt cared for and right at home. When we arrived in James Island six months ago, our first priority was to find a good vet. Our beloved rescue corgi, Sophie, had been diagnosed with diabetes over 3 years earlier and was showing signs of DM (disc myelopathy) and was quickly losing the ability to walk. The prognosis isn't good. Ohlandt Clinic and Dr. Lewandowski provided friendly attentive care from day one to help us maintain Sophie's quality of life and when we recently made the heartbreaking decision to have her put down, the staff and Dr. L did everything to make the process go smoothly and comfortably for both her and us. I can't say enough about the sensitivity they showed us during this difficult time and how they treated this end of life decision. It's obvious they care about their animal patients and the families. They've changed their name recently to Oceanside Veterinary Clinic but, a rose by any other name....I highly recommend them to everyone.

Being new to the area, we were looking for a new vet to address an injury that occurred to my dog's paw during our move. I called a couple of offices and stopped at a couple as well before settling on this one. The staff here was polite yet very welcoming and patiently answered all of my (many) questions. Since my dog can be somewhat reactive, it is important to me that his care givers handle him appropriately. Not only did they reassure me before we even got there that they would welcome him (behavior issues and all lol), they handled him perfectly. Their comfort at handling him put both myself and him at ease. Yes, he was still nervous but the wag of his tail and his enthusiasm at taking the treats from the technician told me all I needed to know. I was pleased with Dr Justin's thorough assessment, treatment recommendations, and bedside manner. Their phone etiquette, website, and cleanliness of facility were also factors in my decision to come here. My family (furry ones too) plan on being here for a long time and are looking forward to developing a relationship with the veterinarians here as well as their staff!

Our cat DJ injested something toxic, and Dr. Gipe and the wonderful staff at Ohlandt Veterinary practice did a wonderful cost-effective job of reversing his liver problems, flushing his system, treating the infection he had developed and getting him rehydrated. Within 2 days he returned home and now another 3 days later treatment appears to have worked completely and he is back to his old self. Thanks so much! They care for DJ's sister and his corgi brother Maxwell too and I highly recommend this as a Veterinary practice that cares for it's animals and their people alike!

Our first visit with new puppy Charlee. The staff was amazing. Everyone there is a true animal lover and it shows. We saw an assistant bravely, lovingly,convince a yapping nipping old terrier to leave her elderly owners arms for treatment. We were impressed. No fear of being bitten as the owner warned. Our pup got great love and gentle care. Didn't want to leave even after shots!

This place was really good, I took this cat friend of mine in there because she had a nice a big gash on her and they got me in for a same day appointment no hassle and I thought the price was very reasonable. I don't think it was the cheapest possible that place but certainly not the most expensive and very fair. The place was well staffed and extremely clean and everybody was super nice. I would highly recommend this place.

I have brought my pets to Ohlandt for many years (except three years when I lived away from Charleston), and today was the pinnacle of my appreciation for their kindness, honesty, professional opinion, conservative-when-appropriate approach and PRICING. I had scheduled surgery for my older dog to have a slow-growing cancerous mass removed. I realized this morning as we I prepared to bring him in, that I was not even nervous (unlike previous surgical visits) as I completely trust the team at Ohlandt to do the right thing, involve me in all decisions, and price treatment fairly (the estimate as always was incredibly reasonable). In the end, the vet we saw did a complete exam and bloodwork and recommended that we wait to see if the mass grows due to Bear's age and the risks/recovery involved in surgery. I especially appreciated how he went the extra mile to give his personal opinion from professional perspective, but made sure to let the decision ultimately be MINE. Bear even got his nails clipped (complimentary) and I left having paid very little for so much of the vet's time and a full-day surgical appointment left unused. Previous visits have always shown the entire staff to truly LIKE every kind of pet and care on a sincere level. From scheduled annual exams/shots to emergency walk-in appointments, I have never waited too long, been charged too much, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have always left knowing I got information and advice I trust completely - whether it's a call to act or a call to sit still and wait (when handed the vet's cell number in case of a weekend flare-up) - I know they have my beloved pet's best interest at heart. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE SUCH AN AMAZING VET!

Today was easily one of the most stressful days of my life. We found an elderly, injured dog outside of our house this morning, and in a state of panic, I drove over to Ohlandt without calling. They welcomed me in with open arms, and immediately checked on the injured pup. I know I am going to sound like I am exaggerating when I say this, but trust me when I say, that every single employee at this clinic, helped to ease my anxiety. Everyone was SO caring and so helpful. Not only did they squeeze me in the first time, but squeezed me in again later on the same day, to give the injured pup some x-rays. Although the ending to this story is very sad, I would have NEVER been able to do it without the support from the Ohlandt staff. We ended up having to put the pup down, and although it was extremely devastating to witness, I couldn't feel more at peace with the decision I made. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful works!

Ohlandt is a wonderful Clinic. My dog is shy and doesn't usually let anyone he doesn't know get too close, but he did not have that apprehension with any of the staff at Ohlandt. You can tell the staff love their jobs, and I never have any apprehensions if I have to leave my dog there. My dog had an allergic reaction one time after hours and we had to take him to an emergency clinic, and first thing the next morning a Veternarian from Ohlandt followed up with us to make sure he was ok. They also helped to make the process of getting an international health certificate for my dog as painless as possible. Even when I moved to Summerville I continued to take my dog to Ohlandt.

My boyfriend and I have both been going to Ohlandt Vet Clinic with our kittens for years. Everyone who works there is a caring and experienced individual. I know that when I drop my kitten off at Ohlandt, he'll be well taken care of. I choose to get my kitten declawed, and when he had a rough time with it, the folks at Ohlandt kept him as long as they had to, without charging me extra for room and board. The staff even emailed and called me daily with reports of his progress and just to let me know that they snuggled with him. I wouldn't take my kitten anywhere else.

I have been a client at Oceanside for 15 years.....we started when Johnny Ohlandt owned it and it was called Ohlandt Vet Clinic. Johnny was amazing! He would bend over backwards to help your pets. It wasn't about anything but the wellness of your pet for Johnny. A few years ago some Veterinarians bought Johnny out and things were pretty good at first, but prices went up dramatically......but the care level was high. The problem for me started a few months ago. Our dog got a severe laceration on her pad of her foot. The sign in the reception area says "order patients are seen......emergencies, scheduled appointments, and walk-ins". I wanted my dog to be seen by her Vet that she was familiar with. I rushed her toward Oceanside and called. They said they could not see her. Frustrated,I went to the Emergency Clinic. They were great, but it cost us $800 for stitches. Fast forward to today......one of my cats has a severe wound behind his right ear. I requested an appointment via app for first thing this morning. I requested between 8 and 9 and stated in my request that it was emergent. I got a message at 9:16 stating that they couldn't see him. I returned their call and explained that I was on my way and that I would like to be worked in based on their sign that says their protocol for seeing patients. The young lady on the phone again told me they couldn't see my cat and that they may be able to see him late this afternoon. I got upset with the young lady on the phone, and for that I apologize. So now I am at the Emergency Clinic once again. To clean the wound, give antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and a collar......$400! The problem I have is......don't advertise that you will see emergent patients if you have no intention of doing so. I have been in their offices with my pets for routine scheduled visits and have had the technician come in and apologize because there was an emergent patient that had come in and needed to be seen ahead of my pets. Guess what I said? "By all means! I understand. You will get to us when you can". As a result, I will not be taking my pets back to Oceanside.....after 15 years.

Oceanside was recommended to me back when the previous doctor was still in practice. I have been bringing my fur babies here for years. Recently we lost our dog Bailey. Dr. Nicole was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process, as well as the entire staff. She cried with me before we knew what was wrong and called me with condolences after we lost her that Sunday. I could not recommend a Vet more and I will never go anywhere else!

My roommate's dog passed away unexpectedly a week ago. When we called them to inform them of her passing and update their records, one of the vets specifically called my roommate late on a Friday night to ask if it was something he missed during her care because she was so young. The next day we received a flower and card. The accountability and care she received during her life and after her life were incredible; their willingness to go above and beyond is why anyone should take their pet to them if you life on or around the James Island area. It is rare to come across a company that takes accountability for their possible mistakes, especially in the medical field, so I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic and its staff.

From the moment I walked in to his continued care as we progress, I have things explained. I don’t feel rushed or a bother. Coco’s treatment has been amazing. I watch the interaction with other clients and pets and see the same care and respect given to everyone.

The app and tracking information for appointments, vaccines, etc is really helpful and will definitely be useful to plan out my next few visits. Took my pup here for the first time last week. I was looking to change vets to someone more local, and Oceanside fit the bill. Called late on Friday (probably 15-20 minutes before they closed for the night), trying to set up an appointment for my almost 12 year old dog. Everything starts to feel urgent when the furry babies get older, so I hoped to make an appointment as soon as possible. They were able to squeeze me in first thing the next morning, which I appreciated. We were definitely the first patients of the morning! The office was very quiet at 8am on a Saturday, but we were quickly helped and ushered into an exam room. I felt they were very thorough and communicative during the exam. They clearly walked me through the list of recommended services with an estimate for each line item. Extra kudos to the woman walking me through the flea/heartworm prevention, who recommended I first purchase the single dose (vs the 6 dose) to see how my dog reacted to it first. Wouldn't have even thought of it! They kept my old girl happy with snacks and peanut butter, so she will surely waltz in there happily from now on. Overall, I thought the prices were very reasonable, and the level of care was well worth it.

We were visiting Charleston with our two dogs and our Shih Tzu developed a medical problem. Called Oceanside and they took us immediately during Christmas holiday. Needless to say, we visited them again when we were in town in August. Outstanding staff. Everyone is so courteous, kind, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We will continue to use them on our frequent trips to the Charleston area. So glad we found them!

Friendly and kind staff and Drs. We had a great experience from start to finish. We were able to get a same day appointment which was very convenient. So very helpful and accommodating as an emergency, walk-in patient. While we had to euthanize our sweet cat Pocket the entire staff was still incredibly thoughtful, empathetic and walked us through the entire process although we knew what the outcome was before we walked in the door.
To top it off they sent flowers and a condolences card to our house a few days after. We will be full-time patients with our other animals, no question. Thank you for all you do at Oceanside.

Can't really say enough about these folks. Care and concern is shown for you and your pet from the time you walk in the door. New to Charleston, we've been blessed to have their care and support getting one of our dogs through orthopedic surgery and the other through end of life. We were given excellent care and unbiased information on multiple options to make the many serious decisions we faced with both dogs. Entire staff is kind, helpful and efficient. We've found our new vet home, and I haven't been surprised to hear that many of the new people I meet also take their pets there.

Amazing service and excellent staff! Competitive pricing (compared to my last vet in NY). The Vet and staff ALWAYS follow up after my pup has visited. They've helped my 12yr old mix since 2013. I've called them panicked and they worked me into there schedule immediately. Wouldn't dream of taking my dog elsewhere. Better service than I get from my own doctors. Highly recommended!

We moved here in May from Florida. We had an awful emergency our first month here in Charleston. Ohlandt was the only vet office that would see us after hours and wouldn't charge us an unreasonable fee. They treated us like family immediately and we felt cared for and right at home. We have now made them our primary vet and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

When we arrived in James Island six months ago, our first priority was to find a good vet. Our beloved rescue corgi, Sophie, had been diagnosed with diabetes over 3 years earlier and was showing signs of DM (disc myelopathy) and was quickly losing the ability to walk. The prognosis isn't good. Ohlandt Clinic and Dr. Lewandowski provided friendly attentive care from day one to help us maintain Sophie's quality of life and when we recently made the heartbreaking decision to have her put down, the staff and Dr. L did everything to make the process go smoothly and comfortably for both her and us. I can't say enough about the sensitivity they showed us during this difficult time and how they treated this end of life decision. It's obvious they care about their animal patients and the families. They've changed their name recently to Oceanside Veterinary Clinic but, a rose by any other name....I highly recommend them to everyone.

Being new to the area, we were looking for a new vet to address an injury that occurred to my dog's paw during our move. I called a couple of offices and stopped at a couple as well before settling on this one. The staff here was polite yet very welcoming and patiently answered all of my (many) questions. Since my dog can be somewhat reactive, it is important to me that his care givers handle him appropriately. Not only did they reassure me before we even got there that they would welcome him (behavior issues and all lol), they handled him perfectly. Their comfort at handling him put both myself and him at ease. Yes, he was still nervous but the wag of his tail and his enthusiasm at taking the treats from the technician told me all I needed to know. I was pleased with Dr Justin's thorough assessment, treatment recommendations, and bedside manner. Their phone etiquette, website, and cleanliness of facility were also factors in my decision to come here. My family (furry ones too) plan on being here for a long time and are looking forward to developing a relationship with the veterinarians here as well as their staff!

Our cat DJ injested something toxic, and Dr. Gipe and the wonderful staff at Ohlandt Veterinary practice did a wonderful cost-effective job of reversing his liver problems, flushing his system, treating the infection he had developed and getting him rehydrated. Within 2 days he returned home and now another 3 days later treatment appears to have worked completely and he is back to his old self. Thanks so much! They care for DJ's sister and his corgi brother Maxwell too and I highly recommend this as a Veterinary practice that cares for it's animals and their people alike!

When I moved to Charleston, just 6 months ago, I visited a vet's office due to an emergency with my cat. I left so angry and knew a new was a MUST... OHLANDT IS PERFECT for my needs and my very high expectations. I feel as though my cat isn't just an animal, but that she is a valued member of my family and the Doctors and Staff respect that. I am so overwhelmed by the energy from the staff of this clinic and am so pleased by their concern and their QUICK feedback to my concerns.

I have been going to Ohlandt's for about 30 years and, though I genuinely miss Johnny, I have been impressed with the new ownership. I wish I would remember to ask for the doctor that I want because if I don't, I get whoever is available. So, kinda wish reception would ask if there's someone I prefer. That said, everyone is very attentive and knowledgeable and Katie is the BEST VET TECH EVER!!! Would def recommend and will def keep going.

We love you guys!!!! Thanks for taking such good care of our past & present dogs & most recently Jackson. He's our beautiful hound mutt & was having new onset seizures at 8 years old. You ALL were so kind to see him two days in a row without an appointment. You gave us great advice & started him on some fast acting medication and now it has been 2 days with no more seizures. Thank you for being so kind to him & for being able to work us in so quickly!!!! If only you took care of potbelly pigs too, then we'd be in heaven. Our favorite vet is Dr. Elizabeth Parker, but all of your doctors are fantastic and that's why we drive all the way from Mt. Pleasant to be treated by Ohlandt Vet Clinic!!!

Our first visit with new puppy Charlee. The staff was amazing. Everyone there is a true animal lover and it shows. We saw an assistant bravely, lovingly,convince a yapping nipping old terrier to leave her elderly owners arms for treatment. We were impressed. No fear of being bitten as the owner warned. Our pup got great love and gentle care. Didn't want to leave even after shots!

This place was really good, I took this cat friend of mine in there because she had a nice a big gash on her and they got me in for a same day appointment no hassle and I thought the price was very reasonable. I don't think it was the cheapest possible that place but certainly not the most expensive and very fair. The place was well staffed and extremely clean and everybody was super nice. I would highly recommend this place.

I have brought my pets to Ohlandt for many years (except three years when I lived away from Charleston), and today was the pinnacle of my appreciation for their kindness, honesty, professional opinion...
I have brought my pets to Ohlandt for many years (except three years when I lived away from Charleston), and today was the pinnacle of my appreciation for their kindness, honesty, professional opinion, conservative-when-appropriate approach and PRICING. I had scheduled surgery for my older dog to have a slow-growing cancerous mass removed. I realized this morning as we I prepared to bring him in, that I was not even nervous (unlike previous surgical visits) as I completely trust the team at Ohlandt to do the right thing, involve me in all decisions, and price treatment fairly (the estimate as always was incredibly reasonable). In the end, the vet we saw did a complete exam and bloodwork and recommended that we wait to see if the mass grows due to Bear's age and the risks/recovery involved in surgery. I especially appreciated how he went the extra mile to give his personal opinion from professional perspective, but made sure to let the decision ultimately be MINE. Bear even got his nails clipped (complimentary) and I left having paid very little for so much of the vet's time and a full-day surgical appointment left unused. Previous visits have always shown the entire staff to truly LIKE every kind of pet and care on a sincere level. From scheduled annual exams/shots to emergency walk-in appointments, I have never waited too long, been charged too much, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have always left knowing I got information and advice I trust completely - whether it's a call to act or a call to sit still and wait (when handed the vet's cell number in case of a weekend flare-up) - I know they have my beloved pet's best interest at heart. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE SUCH AN AMAZING VET!

Today was easily one of the most stressful days of my life. We found an elderly, injured dog outside of our house this morning, and in a state of panic, I drove over to Ohlandt without calling. They welcomed me in with open arms, and immediately checked on the injured pup. I know I am going to sound like I am exaggerating when I say this, but trust me when I say, that every single employee at this clinic, helped to ease my anxiety. Everyone was SO caring and so helpful. Not only did they squeeze me in the first time, but squeezed me in again later on the same day, to give the injured pup some x-rays. Although the ending to this story is very sad, I would have NEVER been able to do it without the support from the Ohlandt staff. We ended up having to put the pup down, and although it was extremely devastating to witness, I couldn't feel more at peace with the decision I made. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful works!

Ohlandt is a wonderful Clinic. My dog is shy and doesn't usually let anyone he doesn't know get too close, but he did not have that apprehension with any of the staff at Ohlandt. You can tell the staff love their jobs, and I never have any apprehensions if I have to leave my dog there. My dog had an allergic reaction one time after hours and we had to take him to an emergency clinic, and first thing the next morning a Veternarian from Ohlandt followed up with us to make sure he was ok. They also helped to make the process of getting an international health certificate for my dog as painless as possible. Even when I moved to Summerville I continued to take my dog to Ohlandt.

My boyfriend and I have both been going to Ohlandt Vet Clinic with our kittens for years. Everyone who works there is a caring and experienced individual. I know that when I drop my kitten off at Ohlandt, he'll be well taken care of. I choose to get my kitten declawed, and when he had a rough time with it, the folks at Ohlandt kept him as long as they had to, without charging me extra for room and board. The staff even emailed and called me daily with reports of his progress and just to let me know that they snuggled with him. I wouldn't take my kitten anywhere else.
