Both me and my husband have taken our dogs to this vet on separate occasions and have loved our experience. Staff is super friendly. You can tell they really love dogs. Even though they have a walk-in system, the wait time was reasonable. I only waited about 15 minutes to be seen. I would image wait times would be longer on Saturday. We just adopted our pup a month ago, so if there is anything slightly off about her, we take her to the vet to make sure she is ok. In this case, she had been having stomach issues for a couple days and they did not seem to be improving. We took her here on a Saturday and although we were expecting to wait a while because they only take walk-ins, we were in to see the doctor within 25-30 mins. The staff was very friendly and efficient with making sure that each pup was taken care of.You walk in, put your name on the waitlist, and then you are called in. We explained our concerns and the doctor examined her and assured us that it was nothing serious (which was all we needed to hear as new pawrents). He was very enthusiastic and knowledgable and told us the best treatment plan. We left with some medicine and the exam fee was $40, which seems to be on the lower end for most vets around here. First of all I would like to say THANK YOU Patrick Veterinary! I am brand new to the Charleston area, and was nervous and choosing the right Vet To bring my 17 month old fur baby. I was reluctant about a walk-in clinic, however she was well due for her vaccinations. The whole visit A-Z then any better. And I tend to be a little overly observant as years ago I was a Vet Tech, and have had my degree in healthcare for many years . Even though I brought her in during some of the busier hours, the wait was not much more than 30 minutes, which is exceptional for a walk in clinic. Additionally I was concerned that the visit would be very rushed as the waiting room was fairly full. I was above pleasantly surprised, Dr. Nawa spent her time addressing and answering any and every concern. She didn’t just walk out and walk away, she gave Stella Rosa goodbye treats, Let Stella Rosa kiss her, and did not leave the exam rooms until I actually said I had no more concerned and goodbye. And even then she walked me out the door. Wow! It was so obvious that Dr. Nawa truly cares for the patient and the client. You would’ve guessed that my dog and I were the only ones in the whole office . additionally the Tech that weighed her and did some testing, was amazing… I can’t remember his name but always had a smile on his face . And I would like to specifically thank Sarah in the office for going out of her way to help, and I am so grateful for Jennifer. I needed some documentation from the office today (2 days later). When I called Jennifer explained the email system was not working properly at the moment, she went above and beyond out of her way to find an alternate way to email me all of the documentation and make changes that needed to be done within less than 30 minutes on a busy Saturday morning. I will never use another Vet in Charleston ever! And if I move, I might just make trips back, hands-down one of the best Vet facilities I have ever been to. A great experience for my pooch that hates going to “the doctor.” It is a walk in only clinic, so if you go on a Saturday, you will wait several hours. However, I went on a Wednesday and I was in and out within 30 minutes. The staff is extremely friendly and they make you and your furry friend feel welcomed. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to review this vet clinic. I have a greyhound named Frida and we LOVE this vet: from the people at the desk to the vet technicians to the vets - they are all amazing and so caring and meticulous in what they do. I usually see Dr. Coco as she is the most familiar with my "problem child" Frida & I could not trust her more with my dog. Yes the wait time can be long, but that just shows you how much people love them (and let me tell you, the wait is definitely worth it). 3/9/18My grand fur baby's mommy was an emotional wreck so I accompanied her to the vet for Sadie Mae's spay day. Sadie is a rescue and has stolen my daughters heart. Sadie also had a lump on her hip and we weren't sure if it was a cyst or something more dangerous. They did a great job reassuring my anxious daughter. Both procedures were done at once so she didn't have to go through surgery twice. When we came to pick her up my daughter asked what the lump was and they were going to send it for testing. Before we got to the car, the technician came out and let us know that Dr. Patrick had examined it and it was a cyst! Good news for Sadie! They sent us home with antibiotics and some pain medicine. If your dog needs shots, a quick check up or breaks there leg etc.  Okay, bring them to Dr. Patrick Veterinary clinic.If at any point in time you think there is something inherently wrong with your animal DO NOT.  My dog wasn't feeling well for 3+ months and the vets at Dr. Patrick misdiagnosed HER on 3 separate occasions.  Didn't help each time we saw a different Vet as well.  The most concerning visit was actually with Dr. Patrick himself.  He seemed like he was in a rush - didn't want to take the time to fully examine my animal.  Looked at the charts and claimed "oh he has xyz give HIM (It's a she mind you - Pretty scary if you can't even determine sex) these pill's and he'll be good to go."Well fast forward.  My dog DID NOT have the said issue Dr. Patrick claimed she had.  We opted to go to another vet for additional advice/evaluation(s).Multiple times during my visits with the staff at Dr. Patrick I claimed "Gosh, there is something wrong with her I just hope it's not cancer."  They told me not to worry.  I just received the results back from the other Vet today, my dog has cancer and probably has less than 6 months to live.So again, everyday quick fixes - Dr. Patrick is a go - If you feel like it could be something else - go elsewhere. Patrick Veterinary Clinic genuinely cares about the animal, and not about money. I work closely with a local rescue, and we take almost all of our animals here for many different types of health issues. They always work with us and guide us in the right direction. A couple of vets have given me their personal contact information, just in case there were any problems. One of the vets even adopted one of our dogs. Last month I decided to take my Giant Schnauzer to be evaluated as she is 12 and is slowing down and I thought she had stiff joints, etc.    Dr. Patrick, Jr. evaluated her and said he felt her spine looked abnormal, so I agreed to an X-ray. I was devastated when he told me she had a large splenic tumor and that I should go to Veterinary Care sooner rather than later as it would become an emergency rupture.  I am so very grateful for his professional eye and experience so my girl didn't suffer more than necessary and his compassion.  He called ahead for us and got us in immediately and she had surgery the next day. Although she has cancer and chemo has failed it afforded us the time with her and to say good bye to her on our terms when the time comes that she is in pain.I have seen several Dr.'s at this clinic for my 3 dogs and have liked each and every one of them in the 4 years I've been going there.They are a kind and caring staff of professionals.Pat R. A new furry friend was added to my family recently and her previous owner chose Patrick's for her puppy shots. She needed a few more vaccinations and I wanted to speak to a vet just to make sure everything was OK with her moving forward.  I thought about going somewhere else for the appointment but I decided to head back to Patricks simply because they had my dog's records and I figured it was my easiest option and I didn't want to cause any confusion with what shots she has and hasn't had. A quick search on Yelp let me know it was a walk in clinic so I tried to time my visit during a quiet hour and luckily didn't wait long.  The vet was very friendly and let me know that my new friend was perfectly fine. She then gave her the shots and vaccines that she needed and I was on my way. About a week later I returned after my cat got sick and didn't have the luxury of planning out my visit so I did have a bit of a wait. But I had the same great level of care and attention so I definitely would recommend giving them a try if you need a check up! Read Less

Came here first time due to recommendation from a colleague. I have been going to another vet clinic(super nice vets!!!)but my puppy's diarrhea has been recurring for 5 months and he has been on antibiotic most of his life, I needed a second opinion. When u walk in, it's not super nice nor super clean, as other reviewers mentioned. BUT I really liked the vet tech and Dr Will who examined him. They seemed caring, thorough, and not out to get ur money. I valued their input more than the other vet clinic, though they were the nicest people ever. The exam fee here costs more than other vet but their  lab tests seem more reasonable here.Only annoying thing, they ask that u take the prepaid fed ex overnight animal specimen to fed ex (not the Dropbox)urself but when I went to nearest fed ex office, they would not take it since it's a biological and they told me to drop off at box which couldn't fit the package. I called the office and left a message, since I didn't know what to do at that point but they never called back. I just ended up driving all the way near the airport to drop off at the main fed ex shipping office. There needs to be a more efficient way of doing this Read Less

DR PATRICK IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. After having a terrible experience and spending a lot of money at Daniel island vet I went to Dr Patrick and he saved the day. He is highly experienced and professional. Staff was all friendly and helpful. This place does everything on-site and won't overcharge or send you somewhere else. I have absolutely no idea how this place gets any good reviews.  It's filthy, hurried, and disgusting.  I needed a surgery for my cat that my regular vet could not do...so I ended up at this place.  1.  There is a problem with cleanliness.  Upon opening the door the lobby is filthy and smells.  I don't think this place has had a good cleaning since it opened.   2.   The customer service is NON existent.  (Front desk, vet techs, and the actual Vet)NEVER AGAIN. I took my kitten in with an infected wound. Not only was the greeting staff great, but so was the vet! They were so gentle with him and made us feel very welcome, and reassured me that he would be just fine. The icing on the cake was that I was only charged for antibiotics, and not an exam. I've been taking my pup here since we adopted him almost two years ago, and I'm not sure it's the best anymore. To me, it feels like the staff are just doing their best to cycle through their patients and get them out the door as fast as possible, instead of truly caring about the sick and injured pets. Yesterday, I took my pup in to be seen because he was having trouble with his bottom. The nurses didn't take too long to see us, but when the Doctor came in, he was very aggressive with my dog. He quickly assumed he knew the problem, stuck his finger and a wad of tissues in my poor little dogs bottom and forcefully held him down while he was screaming in pain. It broke my heart, but I believed this was what my pup needed to feel better. I was wrong, and I ended up at the emergency vet later that night with my dog. The vet had been overly forceful, causing my dog to have extreme pain in his bottom with an inflamed, scraped up anus. He was completely miserable and unable to walk well. We ended up at the emergency vet because of the doctor at Patrick Veterinary. He assumed he knew what to do without listening to us. He hurt my doggy, and I feel terrible for letting it happen. My advice is to find a vet that cares about your pet more than their next pay check. I think maybe that's more important. Read Less

If you had asked me at the beginning of the year when my cat's issues began- I, for sure, would have recommended anyone to come to Patrick Vet, as they are very affordable and cordial. Unfortunately 8 months later, my cat was still suffering- with no diagnosis and no plan to get him healthy again I feel like I have been given the runaround and I can't say I would refer any of my friends or anyone, for that matter, to this veterinary clinic. Based on my experience, Patrick Vet is great for purchasing meds, shots, and -maybe- your yearly exam. but if you actually need anything diagnosed or looked at I wouldn't bother. Things always felt rushed, instead of thorough. A couple of times when I came my cat wasn't even looked at by the doctor/technician while we were in the exam room. After visiting so many times (never the same Doctor), they referred me to an expensive specialist (dermatologist), Thank god I didn't go because after taking him to another clinic he was diagnosed with something that isn't even a skin issue. Which if they had just -looked- at him they could have known that. I wish I could have had a better experience because, like I said, they seem very nice and they are so affordable and I know so many people who have been coming here for a long time. My parents used Patrick Veterinary since my very first dog as a young baby 40 years ago. When I became an adult with my own sweet precious animal children I knew of coarse I would continue to use Patrick Veterinary. They have never failed me. They saved my cat's life about 18 years ago when the emergency vet said there was no hope. Then about a week ago, I took my Bear Dog in because he was sick. Dr. Sarah Mill attended to Bear. She gave Bear and me the most individualized attention. She treated us as if we were the only patient there. You could see the care and empathy in her eyes. She was definitely in it for her true love for animals. I want to thank all of the staff and of coarse Dr. Sarah Mill. I had just met Dr. Mill, but in the coarse of being together the other day, I could tell she would fight wars to make sure she would do everything in her power to help Bear and to ease my pain and worry as a mother to a very special fur baby. My Freddie adopted me when he was 7. Went to a few vets looking for the genuine Dr who was into it for the love of animals and not money driven. Friends recommended Dr. Patrick in the downtown area. Here is one of the most loving and patient staff I ever met. This year Freddie turned 15 and it was a sad time but we decided he would go to the Rainbow Bridge and wait for me, pain free. The Staff were very compassionate which helped on so many levels for me personally as my heart was breaking. Dr. Patrick sent a card where they had made a donation in memory of Freddie to the American Veterinary Association which touched my heart. I have been bringing my two labs to this vet. for about 5 years. One of them was sick during the night and would not take water this morning. On my way to the clinic, he became sick and threw up in the backseat of my car (in which I saw blood). I stopped and took care of this issue and was 10 minutes late getting to the office after they closed, even though the office still had about 4 animals to be seen. They would NOT see my dog even though I told them about the incident in the backseat that contained blood on my way to their office. Forget my diligence in having waited in their clinic for hours multiple times before while waiting to be seen. This was an emergency, and they could have cared less. I will now be using another vet and will never return to this practice. If they don't care about an animal that is throwing up blood, I certainly don't want them caring for my animals. Read Less

Before I moved to Charleston, I researched vets for weeks. Based on reviews, I eventually landed on Patrick Veterinary. I contacted them prior to taking in my 8 week old puppy (at the time) and they were very accommodating via phone and email, and they were pretty spot on when quoting me prices of shots and neuter/spay procedures. 4 years later, I am still just as satisfied as I was day one. Both of my Siberian Huskies are well taken care of at this vet. The walk-in service makes it easy for my hectic schedule. Expect to wait at least an hour at peak times, like Saturday mornings. They are very thorough and not dismissive when it comes to emergent care. One time, I brought my younger sibe in after I woke up to half of his face swollen to the size of a grapefruit. Even though they weren't technically open yet, they saw him right away to I&D what was then diagnosed as an abscessed tooth. I've had interactions with all the DVMs at this practice at least once, and they are all well-trained and very professional. The DVMs and the front desk staff alike love my dogs as much as I do. I stopped taking my dogs here when they failed to diagnose a tumor on my older dog's thyroid. It was initially suspected as being cancer by a vet who happened to visit our home, when she pet my dogs to say hello. She immediately suggested aspirating the mass and having it tested, so we scheduled an appointment with her. It was indeed malignant and had already metastasized from where it first appeared many months earlier, when the younger Dr. Patrick dismissed it as a swollen lymph node. I liked and miss the walk-in / no appointment necessary policy, but I'm happy to schedule appointments at our new vet to ensure my dogs are getting the best care possible. Read Less

My dog has a massive phobia of going to the vet, and after calling and explaining how much of a handful my pup can be, they went out of their way to help make sure my dog could get the shots and check up she needed. It was definitely a lot to deal with, but where other veterinary clinics told me they couldn't take my dog, Patrick veterinary clinic, took the time and patience to help me get her seen. And even after my dog made a bit of a mess out of fear, they didn't make me feel embarrassed about it at all, and one of the vet techs just replied, "don't worry she's not the only one." There are tons of vets significantly closer to me that take reservations.  But going to Patrick veterinary clinic, I know my babies will be taken care of.  These doctors aren't here because of the money.  They are here because they LOVE animals!  They do not take reservations and the wait is long.  But when you get in, you will see why so many come here.  The only time I would ever go anywhere else is because they were closed and I had an emergency.  The staff is the same.  I went today and the line was out the door.  You walk in and the staff can be grumpy being so busy but they are the friendliest staff ever.  As for price, again they are obviously not in this for the money because I am always surprised at how reasonable my bill is. I first went to Patrick Veterianry Clinic several years ago. It was recommended to me by several persons. All the services I have ever needed and received there were routine, so I cannot say that there are any shortcomings in the treatment of animals.However, one of the persons that originally recommended this place to me had a dog that got sick and a couple of days later it died. He has for ever blamed Patrick's for it, but I cannot be certain that Patrick's is at fault. However, another person who often took her dog to Patrick's went elsewhere when he dog needed an operation.My conlcusion is that Patrick's might be good--and inexpensive--for general assistance of no major consequence, but it one's pet needs special treatment, this might not be the place.One thing, tho, a few months back I asked about cleaning my dog's teeth, and I was told that these were fine. However, recently I noticed that my dog's teeth have gotten much worse. Now, I get this doubt that maybe they didn't want to boether with it.Also, the place is always very crowded. Ther is little space for parking and the facilities are small and pack with people. I am thinking I might be better off trying to fine another place. Read Less
