Worst Vet I have ever been to! My 13 year old cat was having issues going to the bathroom, having accidents in the house and trouble eating so I made an appointment with Lowry's to see if they might be able to help figure out what was going on with him. I explained to them that I am a student and if it was at all possible to try and take out all the unnecessary tests to try to keep the bill as low as possible for the situation. I took my cat there 3 times and was misdiagnosed 3 different times. My cat kept getting worse each time that I brought him. They called me the following day and asked if I would bring him to get a B12 shot once a week for the next 6 weeks. Although I have two jobs, am in school full time, and live an hour away I decided that they knew best. The nurse that gave it to him wasn't even looking as she stuck the shot in one side of his skin and out the other, so when she started pushing the liquid through, the bright purple liquid squirted all over my cat's coat and my white shirt. After she was done, she did not even realize that she had done that. They charged me $40.00 for five minutes of weighing him and giving him that shot. That night when I was at home I noticed my cat was bleeding out of his anus and was still unable to go to the bathroom. I called them and they told me since he had not gone to the bathroom yet, that I should sprinkle some Miralax on his food and that if he was still bleeding in a day to come back. By the second day, he was not still bleeding, but still had not been able to go to the bathroom at all. I called them and the doctor said to come in for an X-Ray. When I arrived, they were not even planning on doing an X-Ray and they felt his stomach and automatically wrote everything off that they had said previously and re-diagnosed it as mega colon. I couldn't believe it, I brought him in for having issues with going to the bathroom, three days and $400.00 later and they never even decided to check for this previously? They said they were going to take him in the back and give him an exam, moments later I heard my cat screeching in pain and that did not even slow them down. They came back and said they gave him an enema with no anesthesia and without my consent. Besides the fact that they did not ask me, the pain my cat endured was for nothing. They waited until after my cat was put through that pain to take an X-Ray and determined that an enema would never be able to get it out, and that surgery or euthanasia were my only options. The doctor agreed to a payment plan at first so I opted for the surgery, he then changed his mind and told me that he would not allow a payment plan. He said I should put down my cat because he did not know why this was happening to him and that it was basically a lost cause. When it was obvious that I disagreed with him and told him I was going to get a second opinion and go to someone who would give me a payment plan, he became very unprofessional. I asked for a copy of the X-Ray that I paid for and they said they would have to send it over when the vet asked for it. The next vet I went to tried to get a copy of the X-Ray and Lowry's said they could tell them what was on it, but they could not send it over. The veterinarian I met with at the Rock Hill Animal Hospital was Dr. Ferguson. I told him my story and he was able to tell me that it was not mega colon, it was a massive tumor in my cat's colon. If I had been able to figure this out weeks ago and not wasted $500.00 at Lowry's I would have been able to afford the surgery to remove my cat's tumor, instead, I have to watch him die. Lowry's animal hospital is the WORST veterinarian I have ever been to, they did nothing but take my money. I'm sure they are great for the simple check-ups and routine shots, but when it comes to something out of the ordinary they have no desire to give you anything but a bill and a suggestion. Read Less
